Loving my sparkfriends
I am loving my sparkfriends. Of course I always do, but recent comments have made me realize just how blessed I am. I am blessed not only to have found Spark, but to have met so many wonderful and supportive people on-line.
I never would h... Read more
No more fast runs, no more long runs, just runs.
It's been a busy week and weekend. I was getting ready for my Mom's surprise 70th birthday party that we had yesterday. Lots of cleaning, shopping and cooking. It was a success!! She had no clue! We had around 50 people. It was a great turnout a... Read more
The longest run of the year, so far.
I went out last night and ran 4.26 miles. It was a slow run with an average of 10.30 minute miles, but I was running! I still am surprised how nonchalant I am about the time. I am VERY competitive, especially with myself. However, I know if I w... Read more
Back in the saddle.
It will be four years on July 24th that I lost my soul mate in horse form. She was a once in a lifetime horse. I raised her from a weanling to the age of 31.
I've ridden maybe twice since she died, but that all changed today. I was back in... Read more
Four miles and five pounds!
I ran a little over four miles this morning. I walked a lot in the beginning and I'm walking every hill. It takes me quite a bit of time to "loosen" up now. It felt pretty good, but I'm still frustrated. My right hip is still complaining and ... Read more
Today is my oldest daughter's 20th birthday. As she said, "Twenty sounds so much older than nineteen. Probably because there isn't a teen at the end." I agreed!
I can't believe how fast 20 years has flown bye! I was very fortunate to have n... Read more
Back to "reality."
Tomorrow I go back to work and reality. No more adding lots of exercise just because I have the time. No more staying up late. No more sleeping in past 5:00 AM.
I'm getting ready for it by doing lots of moving today. Another run today of... Read more
A beautiful day!
I got two long walks in and lots of time with my girls. I finished up the monkey bread, but surprisingly I stayed in my calorie range yesterday and today. I am at my goal weight, right on the nose!
I've learned that if I'm going to "splu... Read more
Lots of exercise and monkey bread!
I've gotten lots of exercise in today. I ran 2.65 miles in 28 minutes, did 17 minutes of stretching, 40 minutes on the elliptical and 40 minutes of walking the dogs. A good day, right?
It is in the fitness minutes, however I made monkey br... Read more
I'm sore, but it's a good sore!
I feel like I was hit by a car! (A small car.) It's great! I love being sore because it means that I worked my body. I love knowing that I challenged my body and my mind. I expected to be sore since I haven't run in three months. I have lots... Read more
I forgot that with the time change it's still dark out in the morning. I did a few things around the house and then laced up. It was obvious to me that I hadn't run for a while. I forgot my gloves which I HATE. I wore shorts and a long sleeve.... Read more
I went, I tried and I bought!
I went back to the running shoe store and talked to an older and more experienced runner/associate. I explained my injury and asked about neutral shoes with my orthotics. He agreed that they would be a better choice.
I also texted my cous... Read more
I went, I saw, I didn't buy...
Yes, two blogs in one day. I went to buy running shoes and my hubby went along. I shared my l experience with my last pair of shoes that were bought in September, worn through December and that I wound up injured and seeing a chiropractor. I e... Read more
"Fall" yard work
I got home yesterday and the temps were in the low 60's. I decided to clean the yard since it really hasn't been done all winter.
For some reason our trees were "late shedders" last fall. I decided to rake the yard and get all the dog was... Read more
