What a month!
Let's see--the kids and I started the new year at my grandparents' house 5 hours away from home. We tried to drive back in time for church that evening, but we were about 30 minutes late. I guess I should have known then how this month would g... Read more
I lost weight WITHOUT cardio!!!
You may or may not know that I ran a lot in 2010. I started in March by training for a 10k, my first race to ever run. Then I ran another 10k in May and started training for a half-marathon in August. I reached my goal weight and then some by... Read more
I must confess that ST is something I used to do when it was convenient. I focused more on cardio because that's where the calories are burned. While training for a marathon, it was important to get in all of my training runs, so the focus rem... Read more

My Running Journey (rather long, sorry)

My Longest Run Ever

Legacy 5k Race Report
This wasn't technically my first 5k, but I was pregnant and not a "runner" when I walked my first 5k over 5 years ago, so this was my first competitive 5k. For some reason, I've been running longer races since I took up running in March.

I burned over 1800 calories today!
I realize that is more calories than a lot of people eat in a day! I had a long run scheduled for today--18 miles. It took me 2 hours and 59 minutes to complete it, but I got it done. I have three 20-mile runs to complete in the next 8 weeks.... Read more

I'm singin' in the rain...
Just singin' in the rain. What a glorious feeling! I'm happy again.

Goals (a week late)
I'm having a hard time setting new goals because I've reached a plateau. At least I'm maintaining me current weight. I have not been eating as healthy as I'd like to or controlling my portions like I should. I really enjoy eating!
Anyway... Read more
I've read articles about and confessions of emotional eaters, and I thought I might be an emotional eater, but I realized this week that I tend to eat less when I'm stressed or upset. I guess that's a good thing because I managed to drop a pound... Read more
If you must fall while running...
then it is good to take the brunt of the fall with your upper body, so you can get up, dust yourself off, and continue your run.
Make sure to fall on your non-dominant hand, though, so you can still do most things with your dominant hand.
