Forgot to Mention....
In my blog post from this morning, I forgot to mention the significance of today's official weigh-in weight. I'm now at 176.8, which is not the lowest I've been on my SparkPeople journey, but is finally back under my pre-New Orleans weight. Whil... Read more
Going Hard-Core: Three Weeks Left!
Well, I just completed my first full week of going hard-core. The week before that, I started on a Wednesday, so it was technically only 5 days. Which means I'm 12 days in and still going strong. It's not been easy, but it's not been terrible ei... Read more
What a Difference a Day Makes
Yesterday I was in a really bad mood. I was dealing with more stress than I could reasonably manage. I was tired. I was cranky. The weather was horrible. I just wanted to stuff my face then crawl into bed.
But I didn't! I sucked it up. I we... Read more
Telling Myself No
As you guys know, I am a week into my "going hard-core" in preparation for my trip to Columbus. The first few days went pretty well, but I'm definitely feeling it now. Yesterday was especially rough. I had a long, hard day and the weather was aw... Read more
As I mentioned in my post last week, I plan on going "hard-core" for the month of May in an effort to get to my 100 pounds lost mark ASAP. Because of that, I'm going to be super strict with my goals for this month up until my trip to Columbus on... Read more
90 Pounds Down: Take 3
At my official weigh-in this morning, I fell below 180 pounds (90 pounds lost) for the third time in my Spark journey. The first time was way back on my one-year SparkVersary on Nov. 23, 2010. I really struggled through December and January, rea... Read more
In addition to the race start video I posted earlier, I have further proof of my participation in today's 5k.
First is my t-shirt and race bib:

Race Start Video
Here's some video of me starting my first 5k. Due to an unfortunate screw-up with the camera, Dan didn't get any video or photos of me finishing the race. He did get one photo of me after the race, which I'll post in a separate blog. I'm the one... Read more
I Did It!
I finished my first 5k this morning and I did far better than I expected. On the treadmill, I run non-stop at 5.3 mph to complete a 5k in 35 minutes. During today's race I walked a lot. Or what I thought was a lot. And I still finished the race ... Read more
First 5K Tomorrow!
I'm both nervous and excited about running in my first 5K race tomorrow. The race starts at 9:00 am, which means I'll have to get up SUPER early. Why do runners always insist on these ungodly hours? At that time in the morning it's only supposed... Read more
Day 1: A little more hard-core than I planned
So yesterday was the first day of my "going hard-core", and boy did it end up being hard-core! It started off innocently enough. We had gorgeous weather on when I left for my lunch break, so I thought I would try to get in a quick run outside. I... Read more
Going Hard-core: The Sequel
Back in August I posted a blog about going hard-core with my diet and exercise for three weeks. Back then, the reason was my big push into Onederland. I ended up being successful and reaching my goal of getting below 200 pounds by my 9 Month Spa... Read more
Gained a Little
At my weigh-in this morning, I was up 0.6 pounds from last week. I am almost certain it's just water weight from the ridiculous amount of sodium I had on Saturday, so I'm not going to stress out about it. Hopefully I can do better with my eating... Read more
What did you do for the past 5 hours?
I walked 17.5 miles! Today was my attempt to see how far I could walk on the treadmill. I ended up stopping at the 5 hour mark, which at 3.5 miles per hour, meant 17.5 total miles. That's 2/3 of a marathon!
I probably should have stopped a ... Read more

Why I'm Fat
I've been on my Spark journey for nearly a year and a half now. It began after the death of my sister-in-law in November of 2009. In all of this time, I have yet to come up with any profound reason behind my being fat. I watch shows like "Bigges... Read more
