Times like this I realize......
just how much progress I've made. I still struggle sometimes with really knowing how I look. I often feel as if I've made no progress, that I'm just as heavy as I used to be, that those 67 pounds have crept back on and I'm fooling myself to t... Read more
My husband and I had a beautiful ride this morning. We decided to stay fairly close to town instead of heading down the Katy Trail, so we stayed on paved county roads and got out into the country. We encountered quite a bit of wildlife, includ... Read more
hit the trail this morning....
Set out at 7 am on the Katy Trail. The trail was soft after a hard rain, wind, hail storm last night. Lots of leaf litter, small twigs and limbs, but the morning was beautifully cool and humid. Rode 38.86 round trip from our drive to Windso... Read more
my new love affair - cycling!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE riding my new bike and I'm surprised. I truly didn't expect it to be this much fun. I love that I can do further, faster, and much cooler (temp wise) than I can while running. I also love that it's pain free - ok, ok, it's ... Read more
agony of defeat
My body was trying to tell me something - that I will never run a 1/2 marathon - maybe not run ever again.

I had to go to the Dr. this week because I'm so dizzy I can't run. About once a winter I have to get a steroid shot for the fluid in my ears and I wanted him look at my hip that I injured running right after Christmas. I've seen this Dr. for w... Read more
Who is this creature in my body???
I think my body has been taken over by an alien creature. I did not expect to ever say that I believe in aliens, but I don't have any other rational explanation for it. I have a feeling other Sparkers may feel the same. Let me explain....

Just ran 5.2 miles on the Katy Trail
In July 2010 my husband and I walked the 5.2 miles in 1hr 45 min. It was all I could do to finish it. Today I ran it in 1 hr 15 min. Again, all I could do to finish it, but I remember when I couldn't run for 5 minutes. AWESOME! ... Read more
