So. I finally bought a runners' jacket, the moisture-wicking kind. Looks good on me : )
Works well, too. Heretofore I'd been wearing a golf wind-breaker over a couple layers of cotton. Nowhere for the perspiration to go. Try being sweaty-... Read more
Easier Run training today.
Run 10 minutes, walk 1 minute, repeat 4 times. Covered 7.5 k in all, burned 576 calories. Knees were glad to run in shorter stints.
Downloaded Galloway's 5k and 10k running guide to the Kindle and will start learning some of the science ... Read more
My knees thank me . . .
. . . for not running today. Yesterday's lengthy running session was more hard work than they've done in many years. Time to get going on a regular knee-strengthening workout routine, I suspect. I checked SparkPeople and Livestrong.com and th... Read more
Ran like the wind . . . .
. . . . well, that's stretching it quite a lot : )
Sun Run training today: run 10 minutes, walk 1; run 20, walk 1; run 30, cool down.
So, I actually ran for a whole hour with just 2 one-minute-walks. I covered 9.5 k in that time. Counti... Read more
Shoveling the s***
Gotcha! I was shoveling snow : )
A great spring day. Clear sky, warm sunshine, no wind. I needed to do something energetic outdoors, and I wanted the snow gone from around the steps from the master bedroom to the garden. There's currently... Read more
The Fitness Tracker yelled at me again.
Told me to start eating more or exercising less. This was a blippy kind of week for exercise so I don't think I'll change my routine quite yet. Maybe if I dip to the bottom of my target weight range, or if my Sun Run training keeps me burning ... Read more
To make up for my questionable calories-for-blood-donation tracker entry yesterday, today my away-from-home-eating resulted in a near-25% over-budget calorie consumption. That means I consumed close to 500 more calories than my max. allowable f... Read more
I gave blood today, just as I do every 56 days.
Tonight, while Sparking, on a whim I used 'blood donation' as my search term to earn a point for today's Spark Search. Imagine my delight to discover that a wide variety of sources, includi... Read more
A respite run today.
So, the Sun Run training gives you a big jolt for the first run of the week, then takes you back a couple of notches for the second session, then bumps you up again, not as far up as the first day. Then the first day of the next week is the mos... Read more
Getting close to the full Run
Today's Sun Run training session was run 10 minutes, walk 1; run 15, walk 1; run 20, walk 1. All in all I covered 8 k in about 66 minutes (including warm-up and cool-down walking) and kept such a steady pace that my heart rate never soared out ... Read more
I imagined it was summer . . .
The sky was clear all morning and by early afternoon the sun was shining full on the patio deck. What could I do but tan? Got in a good 45 minutes. Hey, maybe the ambient temperature was only 4ºC or so, but in the direct sun it was a balmy 18... Read more
Back on stride : )
Ran today. Thank goodness! Today's Sun Run training session was run 3 minutes, walk 1, repeat 7 times. Once I got that done, I walked briskly till I had covered 5 k total. It was good. Seemed to take no time at all. Good calorie burn, good... Read more
Odds and lazy sods : (
Had it all planned to drive 5 hrs out west this afternoon for a meeting tomorrow, check in to my hotel, have dinner, give it time to settle, then run. Guess what? Started out for the drive--truck has no steering. Thankfully it was evident before... Read more
4 times 10
Run 10 minutes, walk 1 minute, repeat 4 times. I ran today and I feel *so* good about it. All in all I covered 7.5 k in 56 minutes--definitely not a record of any sort.
Today's improvement was not so much the time, which was a bit of an i... Read more

A low-key kind of day.
Not a running day; church council meeting in neighbouring town took up a good 5 hours, including the drive there and back and lunch following the meeting; afternoon nap; watch a couple of tv programs, which I hardly ever do; Spark; Facebook; bed... Read more
