Less than two days till the half!
It's finally here! We're leaving tomorrow for the Outer Banks, and the race is at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning. So excited...even though I'm walking it, it's still 13.1 miles of walking. It's definitely an endurance event! :P
I have absolutely... Read more
This was the first time my BF and I got up at a decent hour (i.e. early) to walk...we had planned to do so when we did our dry run, but since that didn't happen, the goal is for the next two weekends to get up early enough in the day--before it ... Read more
Two weeks to go...
I've been having some medical issues the last week and a half that have kept me from walking. First, I changed BP meds, and I had some serious adverse reactions to it...took almost a week to get switched back to my original med, and then I had s... Read more
It seems that my body is conspiring against me. Perhaps it's because I pushed it further than it's been in at least a month...in that I walked three times during the week in addition to the weekend walks. Whatever it doesn't like, it won't tell ... Read more
Yay for Daylight Saving Time!
I'm stupidly excited that DST is finally here...now I have no excuse not to walk after work. :P
Went to my doctor this week--she thinks the fatigue I've been having has been due to the BP med I've been on, and not due to what I was eating.... Read more
I can see the finish line!
Well, not quite...but we made it up to 11.04 miles today! We're actually getting a bit worse time-wise...we think it's because we're not getting adequate recovery time in between these long walks. We've been at it pretty much every single weeken... Read more
Starting today, between now and the half marathon in April, I am not counting calories. I have come to the conclusion that something's amiss in my food intake, and until I get the results back from my blood work (at the earliest), I'm not going ... Read more
Twice in less than a week!
Longest walk to date: 10.56 miles in 3:27:04. Went a bit slower today, due to Jeremy's head cold and my ankle was acting up for some reason...but we did it! I have no doubt that we'll be able to finish the half marathon in April, no problem! :)

I just completed my longest walk to date: 10.05 miles in 3:05:42. That averages out to an 18:28-minute mile pace...that makes me happy. On track for the half marathon in April.
I still can't believe I accomplished this. It's almost like I'm... Read more
Back on the horse
It's been a full five days since I last walked. Have been dealing with a sinus infection all week...today was the first day since Monday where I didn't wake up aching. Plus the weather got all warm (okay, for NC it's warm...upper 50s in February... Read more
Not based in fact, just my personal experience. I started eating poorly about five days before the walk on Sunday. The walk where I had no energy. Turns out I had a sinus infection...didn't get bad (like fever and body aches and scratchy throat ... Read more
Where did my energy go?
I've been wondering if the last couple of weeks had been a fluke, but I'm beginning to think not. I have noticed while attempting to do Leslie Sansone DVDs that I have been able to do previously without too much problem that it was all of a sudd... Read more
That's how I'm characterizing this week. I completely derailed food-wise the last three days. Plus I started a new job on Monday and I haven't figured out where to fit in exercise just yet. And today, instead of walking, I attempted to do some i... Read more
Blisters and bad weather
So, walked 8.83 miles on Sunday. I was rewarded with my first set of blisters. :/ One on the bottom of my right foot (on the EDGE of the moleskin I'd put on the ball of my foot to prevent blisters!), one on my pinky toe of my right foot, and one... Read more
First walk in over a week
After a energy-filled breakfast, I'll finally be heading out to take a walk. It's been miserable weather the last week and a half; we got snowed in last Friday night, and there were icy roads for a few days. That was promptly followed by three d... Read more
