I haven't blogged since Thanksgiving!
Of course life has been busy - I'm blessed with good health, a nice job and a great family...all those blessings take time. I guess we set priorities and sometimes a clean kitchen floor trumps writing about how I should be mopping.
With th... Read more
As always I am grateful. The colors of late fall are somber, leaden gray, faded orange brown and a rare glimpse of green. I have a funeral to attend on Saturday, his passing wasn't unexpected and he wasn't going to get any better so yes, it w... Read more
I've been doing this for a few days now. It seems to make a huge difference in the way my days go. The link at the bottom will take you to a guided meditation and a video of the meditation.

It's going to be one of those days...
About 3 years ago my sister lost a foot to mrsa, complicated by her diabetes. Today she'll lost the 3 remaining toes on her other foot. Part of the reason she moved here was to be close to family, her health really is fragile and she has a 7 y... Read more
It must be the season~
I've felt so hyper this weekend! I know there are a lot of things to do in the fall, but everywhere I look I get a new idea, or think of something else that needs doing. Mostly I kept my projects short, but there are a few that made a mess. A... Read more
A day to regroup
I took the day off, i guess you could call it a mental health day.
Since my in-laws came to visit my treadmill broke, 3 out of the 4 light bulbs in the kitchen fixture burned out, every flat surface is covered with stuff, the house is a sha... Read more
Cutting off my nose...
We're on the 6th day of visiting in-laws. The first day was the big party and it was great. I over ate, but one day isn't so bad. The second day was a blur, but I'm sure I over ate again because my guests are meat, potato and gravy kind of p... Read more
Such a small thing can take us into the wilderness of bad behavior
The birthday party was a resounding success! The food was amazing, the weather was perfect and the company sparkled. The first hint of a problem was the menu. Beer-batter fried fish and a corn-spaghetti and velveeta casserole is never within m... Read more
A sweet Sunday
It is definitely a top 10 day out there today! I sat on the patio with Dennis and enjoyed a cup of coffee with him. The sky is that deep October blue and everything else is either verdant green or shocking orange.

I haven't got time for the pain
I woke up this morning and read an entry on a "Happy Autumn Equinox" thread.
I had posted about how I love the slower pace of winter, time to cook, time to read, bla bla bla. A woman came back that she'd love winter too if she had time to... Read more
There's a change in the air!
It was coolish and cloudy yesterday, much nicer than the nearly 90 temperatures on Friday. Today was supposed to be a lovely 72 for a high. Ha! I've got the heat on! Summer isn't over yet however, we are expecting a high of 88 tomorrow.

Things I've learned
My husband has been gone since Saturday. That's not a long time, but it's been a long time since he's be away so long. When the kids were little he worked for the railroad and came home for the weekend every three weeks. That was then and thi... Read more
My husband just left on a fishing trip to Alaska . I'm sitting here thinking about the things I can do on a day where I have no place to be, no thing I have to do and no people I have see.
Warren Zevon's song came to my mind.

Riding my new bike ~
The seat's adjusted and I took her for a spin around the block. I don't quite have the gear shifting down, but that will come.
Just the little ride around the block made my legs tired! How can that be???? It's hot outside right now, so I... Read more

How big is our sphere of influence?
I was surprised Tuesday morning when I walked into work and was told, "You are too busy, you need to give something to someone else." Well, I've been in the workplace some 40 years now and have never, ever had anyone tell me I had too much on ... Read more
