Hoping for better tomorrow. Poor Mom is tired already, wishing we could put it for on shorter hours. It was a tough, long surgery -five hours, but fortunately required no transfusion. They got all of the cement out of the humerus, but are not sure about the ulna as it was small and dark and hard to see in there. Unfortunately, the replacement did not show signs of this wear, so they are going with the assumption of an infection. But strange I show no signs of this -no fever or elevated white blood cell count. <BR> They put th... Wed, 5 Feb 2014 11:58:34 EST D Day: Under The Knife 6 am http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5613417 The morning started out with my assistant picking me up to take me to the club to complete my month end at the bridge club. We found someone making up the hands for the games so we couldn't use the computer. We went back to my apartment and I showed him how to do some things that I wouldn't be able to do this week. Then we got back and I got everything done and the report is ready for the treasurer to make up checks for. Brian drove me back to my apartment and I finished up the data entry... Tue, 28 Jan 2014 22:18:14 EST I'm Scared, I am Terrified :(( (Not for the Squeamish) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5604638 I have been through 35 surgeries, and have been in and out of hospitals since age six. I have seen and experienced things kids shouldn't have to. I even watched them sawing my bones apart and hammering in my knee replacements! I also got to listen to them drilling, then hammering pins in my toes. But I have to admit this latest news my Dr. has given me has shaken me to the core :( <BR> The surgery I am having on February is not what I was expecting :( My Dr. finally got a hold of t... Fri, 24 Jan 2014 18:22:42 EST Surgery Date http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5601611 I was showering at my apartment when I got a call from my surgeon's secretary. She was wanting to give me a head's up. I have surgery scheduled for February 3. This is very serious, risky surgery involving a revision of my elbow replacement, major bone grafting and trying to clear out a ton of cement in there from my first replacement. There will be two surgeons working in tandem to try and limit the time my arm is open. They have to cut it open from elbow to shoulder! The risk of infec... Tue, 21 Jan 2014 20:00:23 EST Exercising, Eating, Extraction http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5595357 I finally got my first exercise in. 35 minutes of Power Walk For Weight Loss Matrix Method by Kathy Smith. Mom had turned the heat up and I was sweating so now my arm in the cast has been sweaty and itchy for the day. I realized I had to hold my arm stable during the sideways and forward motions which was a nuisance as I prefer to swing my arm to get the heart rate up. Enjoyed my stretch after, been too long for that. <BR> Mom and I went to a free lunch for an all inclusive retireme... Wed, 15 Jan 2014 23:47:22 EST Washing Dishes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5592878 My day started at 10:30 am with a long walk about at Costco. Home for a fast lunch then off to my apartment for my shower. It takes an hour and half by the time we get the cast sealed, get scrubbed, stuff off the cast and then lotion, dressing and any club work I need to do. Then it was to another store to pick up my medicine. Feet were killing me, but when I got home and saw all the dirty dishes, I couldn't leave them alone. Mom was dead tired and I didn't want her to have to do them. ... Mon, 13 Jan 2014 21:07:08 EST Existing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5591185 On Wednesday, when I saw the Dr., it was quite the comedy of errors with my cast. They first cut it open with a scissors, on the top, which impressed the heck out of me since they had to deal with the 90 degree bend in the cast. But Dave was up to the challenge. Then he pulled it open, then taped it on and I got the X-Ray and returned. He was going about putting it on when I said what about the stitches, the Dr. said to take them out. So then he did. He also cut an end of my out of my c... Sun, 12 Jan 2014 12:26:09 EST
