Tue, 24 Nov 2009 22:15:12 EST My Luck is finally turning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2577314 OMG I just got a job offer from the hospital up the street. I had applied there 11 (I counted and it was indeed 11) times before I got a job offer persistence pays off I guess. No more living hand to mouth (as much), can start back up kung fu, can now be able to afford to operate my car ( within reason I'll still walk and bus it more than I did), can take the 2 classes I really want to take to qualify for the national medical technologist board exam (and be mature enough to not slack off)....... Fri, 20 Nov 2009 16:24:22 EST I am not the worst granddaughter in the world http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2576423 I gave my grandmother a HUGE apology for beign late, and a card and took her to a nice dinner downtown. There was a children's lights and music show going on in an outdoor park so the dinner turned out better than expected. So I guess it worked out (although I still feel guilty for forgetting her b-day in the first place). Fri, 20 Nov 2009 10:04:32 EST OOps.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2572391 So there are many nifty tools on this site. One of them is an e-mail reminder of important dates. So I gave myself one for my grandmother's birthday.
Now this is not just my grandmother, she is also my boss and we are really close, more like mother daugher.
So I get to work, and she shows me all her presents from the lawyers who took her out to lunch, and the one grandpa got her.....
And i get this look on my face like a deer caught in the headlights and she realizes I forgot. ... Wed, 18 Nov 2009 18:09:10 EST Another lazy Sunday...and a spark people question. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2544287 Not much to write about, I went to a Forensic document examiner's continuing ed. symposium for one of my jobs, it was great. The two seminars I saw were about the kinestetics of writing in patients with hand injuries (very interesting with lots of antedotal case studies and pictures), and the other one was about music and writing ( wonderful seminar and great music although I'm biased b/c it was my boss giving the talk and playing).

Still no word from the hospital yet about that jo... Sun, 8 Nov 2009 13:41:57 EST I am starting to unclench my hands from around my hair.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2516429 Honestly I have been ripping my hair out due to the fact I was laid off at the worst possible time. I truly disliked sitting around the house and not caring for patients. I have spent months working a temp job and sending off tons of resumes (like a good portion of the country).
I finally interviewed a final interview and interviewed well. I won't ask for congratulations until I actually start the job. But, this is a very positive step for my self esteem.
For anyone out there strug... Wed, 28 Oct 2009 21:12:40 EST Today I am trying to be thankful http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2475328 The recession has hit home for me. After working as a personal care worker for years, and getting a couple degrees, I have had trouble finding a job in my field. So now I am working as a temp in a plastics factory, and more recently as a temp with a forensic document examiner. It is work which is more than what I can say for some people atm so I am grateful for that. I just would love to work using my skills and experience in a hospital and start to get on with life.
But for today.... ... Tue, 13 Oct 2009 09:54:58 EST
