Fri, 30 Dec 2011 11:54:46 EST Healthy Christmas Gifts http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4644637 This Christmas, I had an opportunity to realize just how important it is to my family that I have a healthy new year. I was surrounded by love and good food (not so healthy) and plenty of presents. These presents are what taught me what my family thinks about what I would like or need in 2012.

Hubby bought me the usual chocolate (yummy, Godiva and other wonderful flavors/brands, jewelry (pretty silver star earrings), and techy present (IPhone 4S) but also:

a variety ... Fri, 30 Dec 2011 10:11:01 EST Living Healthy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4637628 I've been thinking about my goals as the end of the year wraps up. I've been working towards losing weight since August. I still have about 20 pounds that I want to lose. However, my vision is shifting.

About 2 years ago, I lost 50 lbs with Spark. My vision the entire time was to lose the weight. Once I reached goal, I lost the motivation. Money became an excuse (couldn't afford the gym), but really it was how I was looking at things. I've learned over the past 4 months that I don'... As a way to keep off those dreaded holiday pounds, and maybe even lose a few... as well as build my confidence and stamina as a runner, I've decided to participate in Runner's World's Holiday Streak, even though the creator of the challenge has already stopped because of illness. Thu, 1 Dec 2011 23:07:57 EST Thankful for BLC 17 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4600694 I restarted my Spark journey in August. Within my first weeks back, a sparkfriend suggested I join BLC. My first thoughts were, "hmmm.... another team? should I join? Will I get anything out of it besides information? Well, I guess I'll try it, I can alway opt out later".

Little, did I know, BLC is more than just another team. It's a whole new way of sparking. Over the 12 weeks that I was a "Light Blue Bombshell", I was inspired, challenged, motivated to be the very best me ... Sun, 27 Nov 2011 00:38:22 EST Thanksgiving http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4600029 We celebrated Thanksgiving on Friday because that is when hubby's mom and her husband (she remarried) could visit at our house. Hubby, Gary, and I woke early to pick up 8 geocaches in the area. We came home and finished cleaning up the house and he finished cooking the delicious side dishes to go with our smoked turkey. I did a minute of jumping jacks, 30 crunches, and went for a mile run. Came home, took a shower, and got dressed just in time to welcome the family into our home.
<B... (Trick or Trot report) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4564305 So, I was supposed to do Week 7 of the Spark Rookie Running program yesterday, but didn't get to it between work and the Halloween party we went to. I thought I'd do it today instead. Then, hubby reminded me that we had somewhere to go tomorrow night, so I might not get time to exercise then either (yuck! I'm breaking my streak :( ). Anyways, I looked at the C25K week 4 plan and decided I liked it better because it allowed for some more walking than the Rookie Running program's plan for t... Wed, 2 Nov 2011 00:58:58 EST Jumbo Pants (somewhat embarrassing) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4544021 wow! What a difference 10 lbs makes. My hiking shorts/pants (they have zipper legs and are convertible) kept falling off of me (well, not completely) tonight as I tried to take a wog with hubby in the woods. Slowed me down considerably as I kept having to figure out how to keep them pulled up. My hands hurt by the end of our 4.15 mile walk (1 hour and 20 minutes) from trying to keep them pulled up as I tried to wog.

The good, I can't wear a size 14 hiking pants anymore
The... I took a 1.9mi walk with Sara, my beagle mix, for about 35 minutes.

Immediately afterwards I started Week 3 Day 2 of the Spark Rookie Running program. Sara started pulling towards the road (not sure why) so I dropped her off at the house and kept going. I finished today's Day 2 workout. It took me 46.5 minutes to do 3.03mi which is slower than I would have liked.

Looking at the big picture - I walked 4.93 miles in 81.5... Mon, 3 Oct 2011 15:51:44 EST
