We started hiking at 6:30 just as the sun started hitting the mountain with pink highlights. It was beautiful!
We ended up going farther than planned which means onto the Muir snowfield which is scary for me. On the way down I slipped and since I was on my butt I decided to try glissading, something I never thought I would do. It is fun and way easier than trying to walk the st... Fri, 7 Sep 2012 23:39:52 EST Will Hike for Blackberries http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5043060 We hiked a few miles today to get blackberries to make jam. Swan Creek Park right here in Tacoma is a great place to hike and if you know when/where to go there are blackberries. We saw a few people on the lower trail but nobody up on the top section where the berries are. Here's some pics.

www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10
151229502218109.512941.547133108&type=
1&l=e41157f339
Mon, 3 Sep 2012 21:29:35 EST Mother Daughter Mount Catherine 8.31.12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5039470 My lovely daughter and I hiked together for the first time in years. Actually, it was the most fun we have had together in years. It was great!
This hike is made fun by a short scramble to the top that has cables you grab for help up. They are even more help going down.

www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10
151225463913109.512095.547133108&type=
1&l=db8c3d5987
Fri, 31 Aug 2012 23:43:44 EST Vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5037863 I am on vacation this week and had a wonderful time exploring the NW part of WA.
We got a room in Mount Vernon but were not there much.
We drove up Sunday and explored LaConner, had lunch in Anacortes where we ran into a Sparkfriend. It was nice to see you Cyndi! After lunch we stopped by a Kayak rental place and signed up for a 3 hour trip. It was great fun! And easier than I expected.
www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10
151216175993109.510703.547133108&type=
3&l=8b6... Thu, 30 Aug 2012 19:05:02 EST Pinnacle Saddle 8.18.12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5021635 I had a wonderful day hiking with my Sparkfriend Tammy yesterday.
We did a nice trail at Mount Rainier. The wildflowers are plentiful and in full bloom and the views are amazing! We saw four marmots, a chipmunk, a pica and a frog too. And we has a great time visiting.
Here's the best of my pics:
www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10
151196411568109.507920.547133108&type=
3&l=d2e618e118
Sun, 19 Aug 2012 10:21:37 EST Alger Alp 8.17.12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5020180 I had to go to Anacortes to pick up my DD returning from her summer job on a private island in the San Juans.
I headed north several hours early so I could hike this little peak that I see from I-5 twice a week on my way to Bellingham. I've had it on my list a long time. It was HOT and I had to hurry so I wouldn't be late to the dock. I sweated away some calories=) I did the round trip in two hours and fifteen minutes.
It was nice to see my DD and hear all about her summer.
... Sat, 18 Aug 2012 00:41:45 EST Grand Park 8.11.12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5012324 Our hike yesterday was amazing! We did 9.6 miles in a place so beautiful that we didn't want to leave.
Grand Park is a nearly 2 mile long flat plateau formed long ago when lava filled a canyon on the north side of Mount Rainier National Park. A layer of pumice now covers the lava and the wildflowers grow in abundance and are in full bloom. Check it out:

www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10
151182001408109.505783.547133108&type=
3&l=8d84c7ebe5
Sun, 12 Aug 2012 16:42:16 EST Mount Beljica 8.3.12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5000544 We picked Mt. Beljica today. It's a short (4 miles RT) but steep trail that passes a lovely lake halfway up. The view from the top was amazing! We stayed up there wandering around, taking pictures and just enjoying the views for a couple of hours. Mount Rainier was the star but we also could see Adams, Hood, St. Helens and some of the other places we have hiked to. On the way down I took off my shirt and shorts and went for a swim in Lake Christine. There was nobody else around. We saw just t... Sat, 4 Aug 2012 10:21:35 EST Noble Knob 7.29.12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4993039 We had to wait until Sunday to hike thanks to work and we ended up with the best weather. YAY!
We took the 4.2 mile route from Dallas Ridge to Noble Knob because it has the best roads to the trailhead. It's such a beautiful place that we might try the other routes someday.
The bugs at the top were hungry. Repeated spraying of Off didn't help.
I have bites everywhere. They even bit through our clothes.
The view was so great that I sat there taking it in for a long time. <... This trail has amazing views when it's clear and is still fun when it's cloudy. There are neat rocks, lots of wildflowers and marmots=) It's a great workout because it is STEEP.

www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10
151080202343109.494444.547133108&type=
3&l=c19620096f
Sat, 30 Jun 2012 11:10:48 EST
