Sun, 7 Jul 2013 11:38:32 EST Day #12 of Making a Habit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5374617 I am back!!! On 6/20/13 I started on the journey to get my exercise groove back. I was doing the bare minimum (24 minutes ) last semester; an exchange of exercise time for study time that I was all too willing to make. Returning to school has become very important to me and I want to do the best that I can academically. Unfortunately this exchange had negative consequences such as reduced muscle mass, reduced strength , not much effect on cardio capacity. So I started a 21 day quest to make e... Sat, 1 Jun 2013 12:57:19 EST Day #6 of Making a Habit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5367478 On 5/20 I made the decision to make exercise, once again , a habit in my life. The theory is - it takes 21 consecutive days to make a habit , so my plan is to work out for 21 consecutive days for at least 30 minutes to get back on the exercise track. This week I worked out Monday - Saturday for a total of 543 minutes and I feel great. From working out at the gym to walking 45 minutes during lunch, I can actually feel my body responding to the exercise.
So far :

I am sleeping... Spanish 2 and Human Bio tried to kick butt. I made the conscious decision to reduce the number of hours spend at the gym - going back to school was something that I have wanted to do since I left college and I am determined to finish PLUS I am now a Phi Theta Kappa and I am bound and determined to remain in the honor society. Two A's and many papers and oral presentations later .. I am ready to get back on the exercise track.

I have done a lot of readin... I did a killer 7am sports conditioning workout at the gym. Imagine being challenged both in strength training and cardio conditioning for one hour ....then multiply this torture by 10x and now you have the sports conditioning class at my gym. In the past I would take this class , then do strength training for an hour THEN a killer spin class for another hour and THEN yoga. I did this for the last 2 years EVERY Saturday. And I wondered... The obvious one is to feed our bodies and replenish nutrients lost or needed by the body. But how often did I continue to eat after I was full- eating sometimes to the point of being stuffed but still looking for more? Eating then becomes something else- it is a malfunction of the brain , where instead of reacting to boredom, excitement , depression with an appropriate physical or mental reacti...
