Mon, 3 Oct 2016 14:39:58 EST Scenic drive and amazing find. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6243682 We took a scenic drive this morning early. Drove high up into the mountains and forests and along the way we stopped and found this HUGE mushroom-lichen...it was growing at the base of a tree. We cut it off and brought it home to try to dry it for a décor piece for the house. We measured it at 18inches in diameter.
<img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople.com/guid/0200c2e5-5d9e-4205-9285-0d2e5f43b5... Sat, 17 Sep 2016 09:00:52 EST yesterday's outting http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6235731 Yesterday we took a drive over to another small town to a feed mill. Hubby is getting ready to go deer hunting so he wanted some deer feed. We have normally bought apple corn or rice bran or some other type of deer feed but our oldest son had found this place that makes a deer feed called "NUT GRUB". It is made right here in our state. It has peanuts, ricebran, sweet feed and other things that deer absolutely love...so we got 50lbs.
<img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople.com/guid/c62112... The apples didn't make due to blight so the only fruit we really got any amount of were muscadines. Fri, 1 Apr 2016 13:54:02 EST just some photos http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6127333 Hubby and I used to raise chickens for fresh eggs but it got quite expensive to feed them and we wound up giving away most of the eggs even though we eat one almost every morning for breakfast. So we gave our chickens to the middle son and now go and get eggs from them when we need them. Our youngest son lives in a suburb area near a large lake and the DIL wanted some hens. So they got a backyard chicken house and made a small pen and got 4 hens last Sunday. They have already started getting ... Fri, 25 Mar 2016 11:17:26 EST allergies and penny rugs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6126681 I've been suffering my usual spring allergies. Thinking I may need to start allergy shots this summer for next year. It has not been a good year for me so far. Second time to be sick this year and both times sinuses due to allergies. Seems to get worse every year. So I haven't worked in the shop all week. But I did finish 2 double sided penny rugs and 4 coasters. Here are the photos of the coasters. These first 2 shots are the front and back of the Easter themed one.
<img src="http://ph... Thu, 24 Mar 2016 12:19:50 EST weekend is past http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6124438 I rarely get online on the weekends. We just have too much going on then to bother. So thought I would share a few photos of what we have been up to.
First I finished the spring table runner in wool applique. It was a pattern in Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine and I enlarged the pattern some. The reds and greens are hand dyed and the color of the photo doesn't do it justice as it is under artificial light.
<img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople.com/guid/8af08393-9e70-4b7f-b5... I'm so so ready. I think what jarred me to my senses is this photo my DIL took of me and my son...Didn't realize my back side looked so bad.

I'm putting this out here so it will be a constant reminder of why I'm doing this...also for my health..mainly for my health. Tue, 15 Mar 2016 12:16:56 EST Usual busyness http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6119007 Just staying busy here. Rain is over so looks like we may have to replant our English peas as the got water logged. Lettuce washed but thinned it out about right. Much of our fruit trees are blooming but strangely the asparagus has not come up. We may need to replant it this year some. Our oregano seeds did not germinate so will be looking for some plants. Our onions are up and we will transplant the basil and parsley to our garden soon. I love this time of year!!!

On a crafty note... Mon, 14 Mar 2016 12:50:23 EST Photos of our place http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6116814 Our fruit trees have begun to bloom early this year. I'm really praying we don't get a late frost or freeze. But the weather has been unseasonably warm this year. So I just wanted to share a few photos of spring blooms.

This is Spirea (bridal wreath) and photo was taken a few days ago and now they are totally white.
<img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople.com/guid/f9d039bd-7788-4763-b5bd... Fri, 11 Mar 2016 12:38:16 EST Rain and more rain. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6116082 Our state and also the state below us has had major rain and flooding. My SIL's house got 4 inches inside. But where we live we didn't get as much but still had the river to rise. Took a drive about a half mile from the house just to check the river and could not believe the wildlife we saw. Rabbits, squirrels, birds and especially a spotted eagle. They are kind of rare to see in our area. We do have bald eagles and lots of hawks so to see a spotted eagle and get a good shot of him was exciti... Thu, 10 Mar 2016 13:36:03 EST Busy busy last week-Saga of the missing cook stove http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6113303 Last week was just too busy for me to come online much to post here. We gathered many things for the homeless family that we got into an apartment. I also spent a few days working in the shop and got one glaze firing done to some ceramics. Weather is supposed to be bad this week so will spend a lot of time there.

On the missing cook stove. Lowes had told us that they would get the stove in by Wednesday of last week and would deliver it. We did not schedule anything for Wednesday an... Mon, 7 Mar 2016 09:45:22 EST Doggie baby http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6105455 I think I may have told the story here of how we rescued our little house dog. She was starved almost to death and only weighed about 4lbs...she had very little hair and whoever had her had kept her in a rusty barrel so she was orange from the rust. She smelled awful. She had already had at least one litter of puppies and was really too young to have had them. There was a little male with her when we found her but he had a broken back and was in the same shape as she was but he could not walk... Fri, 26 Feb 2016 14:23:06 EST
