VEEBEE8's SparkPeople Blog VEEBEE8's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Lock up your chocolate... It's just one of those weeks... some of you know the ones... where you could rip open a packet of your favourite chocolate biscuits and swallow them whole without taking so much as a breathe... I won't... but god knows I want to Tue, 6 May 2014 18:41:25 EST Calling all sweet tooth guru's! I've always been a sweet tooth, but lately.. it's getting out of control.. I suspect it's because its that exam time of year, on top of working full time and trying to get to the gym when I have a spare second - my old friend stress-cravings!!

Anybody have any tips for beating the beast?? Having just a wee bit doesn't help (if anything it actually feeds the fury). I've managed to stay semi-sane so far with extra fruit, gum, and more frequent coffee breaks.. but definitely open to m... Sun, 13 Oct 2013 00:17:14 EST Show me the muscle! Muscles are killing me today. I'm actually quite surprised.. due to my lack of sleep lately I thought I was being pretty slack at the gym.. just sort of going through the motions rather than pushing the limits like I usually do.. but my muscles are killing this week! (maybe it has something to do with less repair time while I'm sleeping??

Anywho, I'm back to normal sleep as of last night, and rest day today. Back the gym Thurs to build more lean muscle!! so excited about the prospe... Tue, 1 Oct 2013 21:12:39 EST Team members wanted Hi guys,
I'm still looking for some team members for people to join my vege bodybuilding team if anyone's keen?? It doesn't matter if you still eat meat, just as long as you don't give us veges any negativity, we will be all good!

I really want to start getting some challenges etc, underway!!

s_individual.asp?gid=61161
Sun, 29 Sep 2013 18:34:19 EST Go team go! So I've bitten the bullet and made a new spark team - Vege Bikini, Figure, Physique, Body Building team.

I'm a pretty new vegetarian in the great scheme of things (about a year, but not much meat eaten before the official date anyway), nor am I a seasoned bodybuilder - but am working towards my first competition.

I think it would be great to get some like-minded individuals in a team (novice or pro), so we can feed off each others energy and throw sanity-saving tips aro... Wed, 25 Sep 2013 06:22:52 EST It's the little things... Isn't it strange that the little things such as seeing my sparkpoints rise, and getting a digital reward just makes my day??

Well.. it doesn't really compare to weigh-in days when I have lost (especially if it was more than expected).. but on those days when I don't lose after a hard week's slog at the gym and a strong show of willpower on the dessert front - it's just that wee reminder that actually I have worked hard, and it wasn't all for nothing.. and that I will eventually get... Sun, 22 Sep 2013 22:30:19 EST Action Plan - 1st update Well it's nearing the end of the first week since I decided to take my own advice and give myself some home truths.. and just quietly.. I'm pretty proud of myself :)

Rule 1 - get to the gym = didn't miss one session, and my muscles are killing me (in a good way)

Rule 2 - Avoid my sugar triggers - for me these are sweets and chocolate biscuits, and really any form or baking (not helped by the fact that there is a lolly jar at work and bikkies on tap for morning tea) - all... Fri, 9 Aug 2013 21:50:59 EST Action Plan - Part 3 - "Supportive" people I just can't help it - I'm feeling ruthless..

6. teach people how to treat you
This is one of the most common gems I give out to others who are being used by opportunistic friends, or feel bad because their new eating habits are "inconveniencing" others - ESPECIALLY family

One of my faults is making excuses for those around me, and holding on to them for too long, just because we've been friends for years, or because they are family - regardless of how drained or do... Tue, 6 Aug 2013 18:45:10 EST Action Plan - Part 2 To continue my tough love rant (at myself) from yesterday..

5. Stop eating dairy!!

I have been vegetarian for about a year now, and although I have no plan on going vegan, dairy does NOT agree with me - on days where it doesn't cause an "emergeny situation", it leaves my bloated and exhausted - I liken it to a decent hangover, which I like to sometimes like to call a cheese or milk hangover

Why do I continue to eat it?? because its convenient.. well I have dec... Mon, 5 Aug 2013 21:51:11 EST Pre-spring - panic! So every year it's a "spring panic" to get fit and get the "summer body" that I never quite achieve.. this year I've decided it's time to get real, face my faults, and take my own advice

1. Nobody is going to go to the gym for you
2. Yes somebody brought baking to work AGAIN - but let's face it, even if they notice that you haven't had any before they boys demolish it, they're unlikely to be offended - and if they are, who cares??? you want rocking abs this summer!
3. ALW... Tue, 27 Nov 2012 01:23:13 EST Back on the wagon :) Feeling much more motivated today, and ready to push to my goal shape. I think I will also start doing a food diary to keep myself accountable.. starting with the awesome pasta salad I made for dinner with tomatoes, greens, parmesan, lemon juice and herbs.. I have a feeling this will make a regular appearance! Sat, 24 Nov 2012 02:17:20 EST That darn wagon.. Ok so I maay have fallen off the wagon in the last couple of weeks... This week was all about getting back on it, but I seem to have forgotten how high it is! Usually all it takes it seeing a picture of someone on competition day, but I'm just not feeling it.. what motivates everyone?? Wed, 21 Nov 2012 23:47:04 EST Vote for me! I've been working out hard, and have DEFINATELY noticed the changes in my body.. even though the numbers on the scale have not changed - everyone has noticed that my body is replacing fat with muscle so..

A friend of mine convinced me to enter the Miss Alterntive @ the Halloween Ball competition - I had my first ever photoshoot to get a pic for people to vote for, and in a couple weeks I will swallow my nerves and tackle the catwalk - no pressure!

Vote for me guys - Like... Mon, 15 Oct 2012 14:34:27 EST You know you've had a good leg workout when.. Lately I've been taking a long lunch and hitting the gym for my strenth work, so to make the most of my short time yesterday, I took my interval timer and set it for 50 sec intervals with 10 sec rest to get to my next position, and my favourite bang-for-buck legs and shoulder exercises.. and today I feel like I've run a marathon! Back and biceps day today.. bring it on Fri, 7 Sep 2012 17:53:03 EST Back in the race.. So today I had my usual post-work "I can't be bothered" whinge to myself, and instead of riding the bus the whole way home, I found myself getting off, and not only did I find myself at the gym, I did my best Chest & Tri's workout yet, with my heaviest weights yet, and then ran (most of the way) home with my pack on.... quietly chuffed :) ....... although I daresay I'm going to be in some decent pain for the next couple of days! Mon, 3 Sep 2012 03:27:51 EST Curse of the leftovers Just when I was planning to go the whole vegetarian hog and cut seafood out of my diet too, I arrive home, ravenous after my workout, and I demolish my partners leftover chicken kebabs in the fridge.. and I don't even miss chicken that much! Feeling a little dissapointed in myself.. but tomorrow is a new day.. Tue, 28 Aug 2012 05:15:52 EST Almost at the end of week 1.. OK so almost at the end of week 1 towards my competition body.. haven't been quite as well behaved as I should but I swear its better than usual! Since today is a fabuous day here in NZ, I took advantage and whipped down to my local organic market to stock up, and ended having my first taste of nutmeat in the form of a vegetarian sausage roll..which was fantastic! not quite as clean as I am meant to be eating but hey it's saturday :) I Hope everyone is making fantastic progress!!

Sat, 18 Aug 2012 00:35:04 EST Oh dijon.. Dijon mustard where have you been all my life!? you're so tasty on fresh veggies! I look forward to our snack date tomorrow.. Thu, 16 Aug 2012 04:59:30 EST Day 1 - so far so good OK so, even though the day isn't over yet, I'm feeling pretty positive about the week to come. I've prepared most of my lunches for the week, so that I don't get tempted to go out and buy junk for lunch, and I have a game plan for dinner.. bring on the first week towards my competition body!
