With some recent celebrations - Mother's Day, birthday, graduation, Easter - I've slipped back a bit. The weight is not going in the general direction I want it to. I need to re-focus on fruits and veggies. It is great that all that stuff is coming back into season! Sun, 18 May 2014 21:29:49 EST Beautiful Mother's Day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5692763 My three adult daughters, husband, and I walked through beautiful Dow Gardens in Midland, about an hour away from our home. On the way there I was presented with a new pedometer! I was already wearing a cheaper version, so I wore both for our walk. The new, highly recommended pedometer tracked about 2500 more steps than my old one. I've likely not been giving myself enough credit!

We had dinner in the crockpot and salad in the frig for our return home. After eating, my husband... Sun, 11 May 2014 18:14:29 EST Try, Try Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5691583 So I wrote a nice blog entry a few days ago, but it didn't take. So this time I will be short and hope that it stays! Fri, 9 May 2014 21:47:14 EST Begin Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5686232 5/3/14 6:00 AM My husband and I were motivated by our community's Commit 2 Fit challenge during the month of April. I didn't quite make my goal there, but gave it a good effort. I found that site is a very basic tool for logging types of food, hydration and physical activity. But I discovered that I really like Spark People because it gives me the detailed info about my nutrition that I like to see. So, I entered my intake into SparkPeople then summarized on Commit2Fit. Since that chall... Sat, 3 May 2014 06:33:02 EST Life's a Whirlwind http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4450810 Well, life is in such a whirl. I was given official documentation on August 24th that my job has been eliminated at school due to budget cuts. So, I've started the unemployment process. My goal will be to try to find three jobs a week to apply for. That will mean a lot of time sitting at the computer.
I somehow have to do a better job of balancing SparkPeople time, looking for good and healthy recipes (I love to cook to new things!), seeking employment, spending time with my hubb... Sat, 27 Aug 2011 06:59:18 EST Tough Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4421428 Not to be too wordy -
- I cancelled an interview for a job because they thought I was applying for a job of CFO - I have no interest in that.
- a 49-year-old acquaintance from church died suddenly
- got a call that a credit card had been stopped "due to suspicious activity". It turned out to be our daughter's card and it turned out that all of the purchases were legitimate.
- DH is not feeling well - nausea and constipation
- overslept by an hour (unheard of for me)... Thu, 11 Aug 2011 18:24:00 EST Too Much Social - Not Enough Progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4406059 Katy came home Saturday. Since then I've had lots of social things going.
Called Mom and Dad and found out Sis has been contacted by IRS regarding her 401(K) early withdrawal and the penalty involved. YIKES! She's hoping that G&G will take Maizey so that Rob will be able to live at the condo for the last term of college since he was robbed at gun-point three months ago. Chris really needs glasses. G&G will go to P.T. to get them for him if Sis doesn't.
Katy and I met wi... Thu, 4 Aug 2011 04:50:50 EST A Milestone Reached! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4386979 Today I got on the scale, and FINALLY it said 225. It's been a l-o-n-g time since I've seen that weight! I've been slacking on going to the gym because there's so much to do in the summer. Tonight DH and I plan to do two miles with Leslie Sansone. We got back and did one mile on Sunday. Boy, we both could feel it! It was a good reminder that our muscles need to move. I'm planning to meet my Wii goal of 224 about a week early. On Saturday I'll take a walk in the neighborhood with my ne... Tue, 26 Jul 2011 10:01:58 EST Inspired http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4336635 Today I read the blog of a lady my age who has lost 100 pounds in the past year or so. This has inspired me to recommit to myself. I've been tracking my food and am mindful of the quantity I'm consuming - so that's good. I need to get back to a better exercise routine. I have to schedule the time in my day to make it happen. SparkPeople provides so many wonderful tools. My husband and I are benefitting from this wonderful site. I tell people about it whenever I can. Sat, 2 Jul 2011 05:39:26 EST Great surprise! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4271706 Yesterday the scale gave me a great surprise. I'd eaten too much on Memorial Day, but my system had a good clean out and I ended up being down over two pounds.
I'm recommitting to a new goal - to lose about 16 pounds by August 31st. I'm looking forward to needing some new fall clothes! I'm so proud of my husband who just went through his shorts and had to donate half of them since he's dropped two pant sizes!
We're in it together! I wouldn't want it any other way. Thu, 2 Jun 2011 05:29:51 EST New Goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4186871 It's Easter and that signifies a new beginning and rebirth. I would have won the Big Loser challenge at work had I participated - I lost the most pounds and the biggest percentage! But, I didn't want to pay to participate, so I won in spirit. That's great with me.
I won't make my personal goal of 10% loss by April 30th - I know it wouldn't be healthy to lose the 8 pounds in a week, so I'm tossing the the towel on that one right now. So, on to the next challenge . . . By Memorial W... Sun, 24 Apr 2011 08:36:43 EST
