Wed, 25 Apr 2012 01:47:22 EST I DID IT! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4848124 Yes, I did it. I completed 2 half marathons in 2 days. I will post my race reports when I get a chance, but for now, I just want to say, I did it!
248
104
236 Mon, 23 Apr 2012 12:45:38 EST Well, Poop. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4839791 It's Springtime in Las Vegas. That means it's time for roller-coaster weather.

On March 31 the high was 85.
April 1 was 67.
April 4 was 82.
April 6 was 67 again.
April 9 and 10 was up to 87.
April 14th was down to 58.
Today it's back up to 81.

I think I'm going to puke.

So, just one week after the weather in the valley dipped into the 50's with rain and it snowed in the local mountains, I will run my first race on Saturday where ... Tue, 17 Apr 2012 18:26:03 EST Saturday's Run - Sunday's Postlogue http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4837604 I had been hoping that my run on Saturday was going to be a good one to boost my confidence going into my race this weekend. In the end, it was helpful, but not as helpful as I had hoped.

When my wife and I joined the new gym a few weeks ago, the manager let us know about the local running club that meets there on Wednesday nights, and then we both added their page on facebook. The manager said that they would run no matter the weather.

So, on Thursday, he posted that ... In any other race setting, the half marathon would be either the furthest or second furthest.

In any case, I will... Fri, 13 Apr 2012 00:58:25 EST Short Sick Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4826342 Well, I'm sick, again, so this is going to be short (as short as I can make it) so I can get myself to bed.

My wife and daughter both came down with a stomach virus Thursday night. Daughter started by puking and scared me to death. In the middle of the night my wife started feeling sick, too. I hoped it was short-live because a sick wife and a sick child at the same time is no fun. I also hoped I wouldn't get it.

So, Saturday, I still was doing good, so I went for my... Mon, 9 Apr 2012 00:39:58 EST March in Review http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4817150

March, March, March... There's so much I want to say about you, but I'll try to be nice.

While looking at my running calendar, I'm the sure the first thing that jumps out is the huge empty space in the middle of the month. If you've been following my blog, this should come as no surprise to you. If you haven't, well, here's the 4-1-1.

Sat Mar 10 - which shows as a 3.7 mile run, was supposed... Mon, 2 Apr 2012 16:27:58 EST More Run! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4811624 Today, I ran with my daughter for the first time!

Well, I was the only one running, but it did actually happen!

This morning our daughter (who just turned 22 months) decided to sleep lightly and woke up twice when I clumsily knocked over random objects as I tried to get ready to go for my run. So, I decided to just stay home and go back to sleep so that she would stay asleep and wouldn't wake up again when I left and then again when I got back.

I just couldn'... Fri, 30 Mar 2012 00:57:30 EST Progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4807884 After a rest day, yesterday, I was able to run a full 3 miles, this morning. I also did it without stopping to walk every half mile to see if my back would tighten up. My back did not tighten up and I feel no worse than I did before my run.

I am still nervous before every run, however, because my back seems to be at its tightest right when I wake up. This morning, our daughter woke up at 4am and while I leaned over her crib and patted her back to sleep I could really feel the ti... Tue, 27 Mar 2012 19:31:57 EST Off and Running http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4802886 This morning I ran 1 mile.

Baby steps to get back to running for my races in 3 weeks.

I made sure stretched out my back beforehand. Something I usually don't do, but I wanted to take every precaution.

I have to say that I was very scared (nervous?) when I started running. How would my back hold up? Would it hurt right away? Would it tighten up turning my run? At the beginning? The end? Would it tighten up after my run?

As I started off I was ... Sat, 24 Mar 2012 16:24:34 EST
