It feels like every appliance in my house quit. My transmission in my car went kablooey. Yet, I know one thing-there is a time and season for everything, and breakdowns are a normal part of life. I have had several diet breakdowns this summer, also-but I keep picking myself up, dusting myself off, and starting all over again. So I look forward to the beginning of fall- a new season equals a new start-or at least a continuation of good habits and NO MORE KABLO... Thu, 20 Sep 2012 21:15:15 EST Disaster Averted! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4994598 It has been a crazy week, and it seems to be continuing in the same pattern this week. I wake up each morning wondering what will break today. However, I determined to stay with healthy eating-because that is something I can control. I was good all day-made excellent choices-until my dinner. Actually, it was after dinner-I felt the need through an aggravating situation to raid the refrigerator and the pantry! After my second dessert, though, I came to my senses and realized I HAVE TO STOP. Why... Tue, 31 Jul 2012 11:10:24 EST OH BROTHER! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4988566 Today was one of THOSE days. My plumbing went in my home, my transmission went on my car, and my cell phone touchpad is useless! If you happen to see a news report about a grandmotherly type woman robbing a bank in Miami-that would be me!!!! I think the wonderful thing is that I am really not upset by all this. Normally I would have eaten everything in the fridge and raided my piggy bank for McDonald's money. Today, though, I used the extra water everywhere as an opportunity to add cleaning ... Thu, 26 Jul 2012 22:47:27 EST You Can't Always Get What You Want http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4964373 This morning I was watching an episode of "The Suite Life of Zach and Cody." This is one of my son's all time favorites. In this episode, the boys were transported to a parallel universe where they were able to do whatever they wanted. Of course, they indulged in tons of junk food, stayed up way too late, etc. At the end of the episode, they came back and wanted to eat their veggies, go to bed early, etc. It wasn't as much fun as they thought it would be! I find that to be true with my journ... Tue, 10 Jul 2012 19:08:54 EST The Party is Over! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4948861 Well, here I am-throwing myself one BIG pity party-loving every minute of it. Woe is me-the agony of defeat, etc. etc. The Bible records the story of a young man-we call him the "ProdigalSon." One of my favorite verses in this account is when it states that "he came to himself" and realized he must go home to his father. In his father's house was everything that he needed. In MY HEAVENLY FATHER is everything that I need. he has richly blessed me with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places... Sat, 30 Jun 2012 11:33:08 EST Really? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4948179 My best friend just basically told me that I talk about food too much! I am not sure why this hurt me so much. I am really not trying to talk about food, but I guess I do. Maybe I am trying too hard to do everything right because I have done things wrong for so long. Anyway- I must take these words to heart-analyze them for the truth or not. The problem is-food is important. Not the end all, but we all need to eat to live. I guess the old saying is true-eat to live, not live to eat. Then aga... Fri, 29 Jun 2012 20:28:12 EST Monday can be a wonderful day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4941386 Poor Monday-the day of the week that often gets a bad rap. Yes, I know for many of us it is the day we return to work, etc. I often find, though, that Monday is my best day for my eating choices. If I have made poor choices over the weekend, I seem to get back on track . Exercise also seems to come easier. So, hurray for Monday! (P.S. It is really easy for me to write this in the summer- I am a teacher on summer break. Let's see how I do when school begins again in August!) Mon, 25 Jun 2012 10:22:34 EST Inspiration from a Victory http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4937432 The city of Miami is all aglow with last night's victory over OKC.(sorry, OKC fans-I think you have a great team filled with outstanding young men). Two themes that emerged last night were hard work and determination. So it is with each of our "health journeys." The resolve to succeed far outweighs the mess-ups/slips/falls, etc. Thanks, Heat, for the inspiration! It is just what I needed on a Friday. Happy Weekend, everyone! Fri, 22 Jun 2012 10:10:17 EST Visit to the cardiologist http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4934567 Yesterday I visited the cardiologist. I sat in an office filled with people of all different ages, sizes, colors, and personalities. One thing we all had in common-the need to take care of our heart. I had always assumed cardiologists were there for two types of people-the elderly and those with congenital heart problems. Many people take their heart for granted-I know I did. I abused my heart and health and placed food above everything else. I am slowly changing that-and I am appreciating th... Wed, 20 Jun 2012 10:58:53 EST Martha or Mary? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4923940 Two of my favorite women of the Bible are Martha and Mary. They were intimate friends of the Lord Jesus, and I know from Scripture that they enjoyed being together. I have to say that lately my "Martha" has over ruled my "Mary." I find that I must spend time at Jesus' feet, but I am so worried about so many other things. I know that weight loss is a journey, but it is one where I want the Lord Jesus to be an intimate part. After all, doesn't He deserve the praise for all that is wonderful? Tue, 12 Jun 2012 21:46:41 EST Blew it this Saturday....... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4921451 I had such a great week last week. I am enjoying Sparkpeople a lot. Yet on Saturday, after a great weigh-in and a wonderful weight loss- I WENT CRAZY! I think I ate everything in sight, and I did very little exercise. This battle begins with my thought process- and I am realizing that mentally I cannot allow myself to dwell on a victory, but enjoy a victory in moderation. This is a 7 day journey, not a 5 or 6 day journey. However, I have determined to start again, and hopefully learn from thi... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 10:54:37 EST
