TRYINGTOLOSE64's SparkPeople Blog TRYINGTOLOSE64's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Update Got in a decent amount of mileage walking yesterday. My left knee let me know last night through today that it doesn't want to pull that again today. Oh well need to get ready to haul scrap of tomorrow and get ready for this weekend's fiber spinning guild meeting. Haven't been to a meeting since just before both my parents went into the hospital and then they moved to assisted living after that. Not sure at this point if my mom is going to go or not. If it rains like they are calling for... Thu, 19 May 2016 13:48:35 EST Update Not getting much exercise done outside due to raining every day, but am working on catching up on some of the things that have been suffering since I've been overwhelmed. So hopefully I'll get the house cleaned and spinning stuff all sorted and organized. Hubby is a bit miffed because I bought 8 pounds of fiber this past weekend when he knows I'm overwhelmed. He doesn't quite understand that there are only certain times of the year that fleeces are available. But at the same time I realiz... Tue, 3 May 2016 10:13:55 EST Update Been rather crazy around here for the last couple of months between both my parents being in the hospital and then moving to assisted living.and got all of my mom's and my spinning supplies rescued/saved from their old place. Had to save it from my now disowned siblings. They would've either given it away or thrown it away just to make sure I didn't get it...even if it was something that actually belonged to someone outside the family. I have been gradually sorting through all of that stuf... Tue, 26 Apr 2016 18:12:20 EST Update Had a strange but beautiful day for walking. On my main walk for the day, note that I'm trying to break in brand new tennis shoes, I got stopped by a fire engine asking me if I called for a fire engine and an ambulance. Told them I don't have a cell phone so it's not possible for me to call anyone. Turns out the diamond springs truck driver of whom was in the neighborhood delivering water was the one that called for himself. Got several people in the neighborhood unnecessarily upset that... Mon, 4 Apr 2016 20:49:21 EST Update Got my parents moved into assisted living today as my dad will need 24 hour care. My siblings aren't willing to spend any more time then they absolutely have to for my parents care. Heck they think 2 weeks is too much and I've told them that's NOTHING! My mom is in rehab and she should be there at least another week before joining my dad at assisted living. It sure costs a lot to live there but I won't have to pay for any of it because my only asset is my car. We're having a 3 day y... Wed, 23 Mar 2016 21:18:47 EST Prayers needed Found out today that our landlord is retiring on April 1st, of which means within the next several months they'll want us to move out so they can sell this house. We have no where to go but the streets. We can't get a mortgage on one unreliable low income. So we are trying to work out an option with them, it's basically our only other option. That is that they act kinda like a bank and instead of us paying them rent we pay a mortgage and that if say down the road we decide to sell then we... Wed, 2 Mar 2016 20:51:02 EST Update My dad got out of the hospital today and my mother is still in the hospital for who knows how long. My dad says he'll be doing outpatient therapy for his balance and his shoulder. We'll see how things go. The past week has been pure heck with my siblings blaming me for everything even to the point of them telling the hospital not to pay any attention to anything that I say. My brother even threatened me the night before my mother went into the hospital. I take it as a threat because his... Sun, 28 Feb 2016 20:25:37 EST Prayers needed Both my parents went into the hospital this week. My dad last sunday and then my mom on tuesday. My dad for an AFib episode and my mom for a UTI that went septic. My dad is getting better but my mom since she went into the hospital has a declining liver. So please keep them in your prayers.

I haven't gotten in many walks at all but have done some walking at the hospital including doing the stairs. Fri, 26 Feb 2016 21:04:47 EST Update Seems my bad luck is still ongoing as usual. My dad went into the hospital this morning because his defib.. went off several times during the night last night. So taking care of myself is as usual on the back burner because nobody in my family will help take care of my mother...they view that as my job. Sun, 21 Feb 2016 21:47:51 EST Update Finally got a plumber out here that was willing to come out and actually do some work! You know there really should be some kind of plumbers association that keeps the quality of the plumbers high and the plumbers that are nothing but a rip off low!! Told today's plumber about all of the problems we've had and he agreed with me about the plumber's association by saying 90% of the plumbers out there are a rip off. To tell you how simple of a job it was a new water heater that had... Fri, 19 Feb 2016 20:30:47 EST Update Have never been so round and round with repairmen to get one simple item up and running. I swear today's workforce is TOTALLY useless!! Absolutely no work ethic whatsoever!! I am now stressed out to the max and still have no hot water to wash dishes or take a shower. ARGH!! Thu, 18 Feb 2016 14:42:30 EST Prayers needed! Please keep us in your prayers that we get the water filtration system/water heater working again tomorrow so that we can have running hot water. Would be so nice to be able to wash dishes and take a shower. Wed, 17 Feb 2016 20:08:53 EST Update Water filtration guy actually made it out today and he had no interest in servicing anything. His primary interest was replacing everything we had. I hate living in a throw away society. Afterall that type of attitude is what has done so much damage to the world as we know it...especially the air that we breathe. I have contacted another water filtration company and they seem more helpful then anybody so far on the phone....the difference in talking to them as compared to the others is sha... Tue, 16 Feb 2016 21:35:13 EST Update The water filtration system guy that was supposed to come out today to fix our system chickened out because of the sleet. I've really gotten sick of the state of humanity and the workforce. A bunch of spoiled brats that want everything given to them and the heck with everybody else. We haven't been able to wash dishes or take a shower in over a week now because of no hot water. We have cold water but can't get the water heater to heat because of the filtration system. One would think that... Mon, 15 Feb 2016 19:50:11 EST Update Eating is not a top priority right now since we have very few clean pans to cook in and only cold water to wash dishes in. Silverware and glasses are pretty much all dirty. At this point it looks like we won't have someone out until monday to service the filtration system and leaks. So we pretty much have the water shut off along with the water heater so we don't burn out the new water heater. We will turn on the pump long enough to run a load of clothes if we have to have something to we... Thu, 11 Feb 2016 20:22:17 EST Update Hope the week of bad luck is over with. That cop stopping me on a walk was only the start of the bad luck. HW heater went out on saturday, got that out and replaced within 24 hours but still didn't have hot hoping to have that back by tomorrow morning. Had a plumber out monday morning to finish installing the HW heater and he was just looking to burn out the new one so he could do the whole job to make more money then what little we needed him for plus he wanted to rip out our ... Wed, 10 Feb 2016 22:02:36 EST Update Hope I don't have a repeat of today. Didn't get in any walks thanks to the hot water heater going out spraying water everywhere. Was in a panic getting that turned off when an old neighbor's son came by to drop off a truck to put in our 2nd driveway for sale. He ended up selling it within the hour and tomorrow he's bringing a 30 foot RV to put in that driveway. I mentioned the other day that I live on a main road right? At least I got this guy to return the favor by bringing the new wat... Sat, 6 Feb 2016 21:42:31 EST Venting I took my dog out for a walk this morning as I do every weekday morning and would you believe a county cop had the nerve to stop us to tell us that it was dangerous to be walking in this area. I felt like slapping her, but instead I told her that I'm aware of how dangerous it is as I've lived in the area long enough to remember the pasture that used to be across the street with horses running in it. My way of saying....see what the county has forced on me since living here!! For those that... Wed, 3 Feb 2016 11:30:37 EST Update Am trying to take advantage of temps for several days this week being in the 60s, How strange is that considering only a week ago we had 15 inches of snow on the ground. But that's Virginia for you!!

I've got to build up the strength in my left knee after the multiple injuries that I encountered over the last year to year and a half. Gotta get the strength back so that I can get the weight back off. I've already got my spring cleaning done during the colder weather, so that ... Mon, 1 Feb 2016 21:11:14 EST Update Finally got someone to plow out the driveway today. Had a guy show up this morning to do it on his way to Petersburg from VA Beach. LOL He was foolish enough to think that we had the same amount of snow here as they had at the beach. They have 4 inches.....we have 15 inches plus we had snow plows piling it on at the end of our driveway. He only brought a riding lawn mower with a blade on front. Needless to say he left with his tail ducked between his legs and his head bowed down because ... Mon, 25 Jan 2016 20:00:29 EST Snow yet again! We're actually getting to see blue skies and the sun today after receiving a good foot of snow. To bad that can't cure the idiotic drivers that are out there. I live on a main road so I don't have to go out anywhere to see the stupidity of drivers. It's only 9 n the morning and I've already seen one idiot make an illegal U turn over double yellow lines in the weather that we are having. Too bad law enforcement won't enforce the laws that we have on the books, never will understand why the... Sun, 24 Jan 2016 09:14:56 EST Snow If anybody would like some snow you are more then welcome to what I have. A good foot of snow at least has fallen since yesterday morning. I live on a main road and we are lucky to see one car go by an hour. The area is on lockdown....even the snow plows aren't out anymore because they can't keep up. Sat, 23 Jan 2016 20:27:11 EST Update Am not starting out the year like I'd like due to not being used to the freezing temps outside. Am trying to get in what I can and with the extra time I'm trying to get my spring cleaning done so that I won't have to do that when the weather gets warm enough to walk. Am basically sorting through everything in the house from top to bottom, front to back and side to side. We've been planning another yard sale in the spring so am pulling stuff for that and putting it in the garage. Am hoping... Wed, 6 Jan 2016 20:29:15 EST Happy 2016 everybody! Hopefully this year will be a better year by far then 2015 was. 2015 was not a good year here at all. I gained a good portion of my weight back due to a knee injury and plantar facitis. My husband's truck died and we've been trying to save up for a new truck for him, would've been nice if his boss had the balls to pay hubby what he owes him but the truth of the matter is he's too cheap on everybody except for himself. I'm hoping I can get back to walking here soon so that I can get my hea... Fri, 1 Jan 2016 20:06:57 EST Happy Thanksgiving a day early!! Happy thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!!

Me, I'm not doing anything special tomorrow. Hubby and I will spend it at home since my sister is coming to town to cook my parents their turkey and then she'll go home. If you haven't guessed my sister and I don't get along. Not my fault, it's all on her end so there's nothing I can do about it except avoid the situation whenever possible. So that's what I'll be doing tomorrow. Hubby is in total agreement with me. He's the type ... Wed, 25 Nov 2015 21:25:52 EST Update Well hubby's truck died this week and it's beyond repairable. Mind you it's 29 years old, didn't pass inspection due to the frame being rusted out but that's not why it died. It died because the fuel pump needs to be replaced yet they can't take the gas tank off due to the frame being rusted out. This truck is a small truck that rides low to the ground like a car or a conversion van. So we are down to one vehicle that he can't take to work because his work is what causes the frames of low... Sun, 8 Nov 2015 21:39:17 EST Update Am having to re-train myself to exercise after getting over my injuries. I've really gotten out of shape in a bad way so am having to re-lose a lot of the weight that I had lost before and put back on due to injury. Keep me in your prayers. I'm going to try and not let this set back get me down and try to push forward. Sat, 24 Oct 2015 10:06:01 EST Update on my hip Resting my hip has really helped a lot. There is little to no pain in it now and I can function properly, although I am still taking it easy with it for fear of doing damage to it.

On a lighter note, My husband and I went out to eat last night as an early celebration of our 24th anniversary on monday. Little did we know one of the local high schools was having their homecoming and so there were quite a few couples at the restaurant. Well obviously their chef wasn't experienced ... Sun, 18 Oct 2015 07:59:42 EST Prayers please!! I seem to have another stress fracture in my right hip. Last time I had this was back in 2009 at which time I put on 80 pounds afterwards reaching my maximum weight of 262 pounds. I don't want to do that this time. At this time any movement is pretty much too difficult to do. I'm sure the knee injury and the plantar faciitis have led to this and am really getting into a depressed state with all that's going on both physically and financially. I don't have health insurance so going to the... Wed, 14 Oct 2015 12:01:40 EST Update I know, I know I haven't written a blog in a while!! Not much to write about when one is trying to recover from a knee injury and plantar faciitis and most recently haven't been feeling well.

I was finally able to get out to mow the backyard today after all of the rain we got coming off of hurricane Joaquin. Didn't think I was going to be able to get much done but ended up getting it about half way done. Very motivating!! Will finish off the backyard tomorrow and may do the f... Wed, 7 Oct 2015 16:44:43 EST Update With yesterday being such a beautiful day weather wise, I would've liked to have gotten in more walking but the plantar faciitis in my right foot I simply wasn't able to.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
4.2 miles walked

total burned: 474 Tue, 15 Sep 2015 06:34:05 EST Update With yesterday being such a beautiful day weather wise, I would've liked to have gotten in more walking but the plantar faciitis in my right foot I simply wasn't able to.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
4.2 miles walked

total burned: 474 Tue, 15 Sep 2015 06:34:02 EST Update Sorry I haven't blogged lately. Have been trying to get over a headache, lightheadedness and plantar faciitis. Have pretty much gotten over the first 2 but not the third. Am still trying to get in my exercising and logging while eating healthy. I'm thinking my body was needing more carbs because the day after I ate a baked russet potato the headache was gone and hasn't returned although it threatened today. Sat, 12 Sep 2015 20:23:18 EST Update Finally getting around to doing my blog for today of which usually covers the exercises that I did yesterday. So here it goes

2.5 miles walked
45 minutes calisthenics

total burned: 398

Received a card today in my mailbox. Didn't come through the mail, it just had my first name on it and was signed by a woman by the name of Kathleen. LOL Am trying to figure out who she is. I know sounds weird but a lot of the people that live in the neighborhood that I... Sat, 5 Sep 2015 21:25:39 EST Update Yet another day of high heat and humidity, a type day that one feels like they are getting overheated within 15 minutes. Tried to get in what I could.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
25 minutes mowing w/push mower
1.5 miles walked

total burned: 431 Thu, 3 Sep 2015 06:59:04 EST Update Would've liked to have finished mowing the backyard yesterday but the heat and humidity got to me, so I'll finish up today what I didn't get done yesterday. Am glad I was able to get so much done on monday. Did get a chair refurbished yesterday though.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
55 minutes mowing w/push mower

Total burned: 418 Wed, 2 Sep 2015 07:34:39 EST Update Had a decent day of caloric burn despite my knee and heel still bothering me. Hope to finish mowing the yard today while getting some other things accomplished around the house.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
1 mile walked
110 minutes mowing w/push mower

total burned; 713 Tue, 1 Sep 2015 06:43:21 EST Update At least it was cool enough to get a walk in yesterday morning before going over to my parents. My knee and heel were sore for the rest of the day though. Anybody got any ideas on what I can do to get rid of plantar facitis (sp).

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
2.5 miles walked

total burned: 364 Mon, 31 Aug 2015 06:49:28 EST Update Got some exercise in yesterday before going over to my parents. Was able to take my time going over to my parents since my sister was in town. I hate it when she's in town because her and her husband think they are perfect and therefore better then everybody else. Get the idea that she doesn't care about anybody but herself? You got that right!! A total spoiled brat!!

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
2 miles walked

total burned: 323 <B... Sun, 30 Aug 2015 06:48:42 EST Update I will be glad when I can get my knee injury and my heel injury worked through enough to be able to actually do some major walking. As it is now I pay for a day or so after a long walk. Although my knee is mostly better my heel isn't. I'm trying to figure out what calisthenic exercises I can do to get my heel better. In the meantime I am getting some things accomplished around the house.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
3.5 miles walked

... Wed, 26 Aug 2015 08:10:48 EST Update Had a pretty good day exercise wise until my left knee and my right foot started acting up. Will be glad when I can get over these 2 problems.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
3.5 miles walked

total burned: 426 Sat, 22 Aug 2015 06:22:07 EST Update Another day way too muggy to do much outside. Will be so glad when fall gets here. Thank goodness I do have some things to work on in the meantime, unfortunately they aren't calorie burners.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
1 mile walked
25 minutes raking

total burned: 347 Thu, 20 Aug 2015 06:49:22 EST Update Would've liked to have gotten in more yesterday...just way too muggy. Unfortunately was home when one of the nasty neighbors came over looking for something about us to spread as gossip. He tried to insinuate that we have a flea problem......little did he realize he was admitting to them having a flea problem. Better that a germaphobe have the problem then me.... that's my policy.

Nice birthday present from the neighbor huh? Afterall today is my birthday.

Yesterday... Wed, 19 Aug 2015 07:15:17 EST Update Hopefully I can get back to a regular exercise routine here soon. I'm more then anxious to do so.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
53 minutes mowing
1 mile walked

total burned: 475 Tue, 18 Aug 2015 06:55:31 EST Update Had a little better day yesterday, typical weekend day. Let's hope the weekdays will be better. At least hubby got some of the backyard mowed for me over the weekend. I've been trying to get him to realize how full my plate is and how everybody keeps throwing stuff on my already overflowing plate no matter how much I tell them "no!" He's been convinced that he hasn't been putting stuff on my plate but I keep proving to him that that's exactly what he's doing.

Yesterday's burn b... Mon, 17 Aug 2015 06:16:49 EST Update I knew yesterday wasn't going to be a good day for exercise with having to go to the spinning guild meeting, but didn't plan on hubby not getting any mowing done until I got home rendering my mowing time non existent.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
1 mile walked

total burned: 254 Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:55:39 EST Update I knew yesterday wasn't going to be a good day for exercise with having to go to the spinning guild meeting, but didn't plan on hubby not getting any mowing done until I got home rendering my mowing time non existent.

Yesterday's burn below:

45 minutes calisthenics
1 mile walked

total burned: 254 Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:55:39 EST Update I hate the day before a spinning guild meeting when I'm at the point that I'm having to get yarn off the wheel to get set up to spin something new. That's what I was doing yesterday and everything I had planned to do got put aside. Even had a few extra errands thrown in that helped mess everything up. Gotta try and get some things finished up this morning before the guild meeting and then finish mowing when I get home from the guild meeting. Talk about a plate being too full!

Y...
