TRUELOVE662010's SparkPeople Blog TRUELOVE662010's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community My knee, my knee, oh my GOSH my knee!!! The verdict is in on my knee - patellar tendon tear and mcl tear. And ITBS caused by running with poor form caused by my messed up knee and being overweight. I have exercise to do at home, and I have been admonished to lose 25 lbs MINIMUM before I begin to run. And also, be completely off the painkillers. My PT would prefer I lose 40 before I begin to run, but we shall see how I do at 25. Problem is, NOTHING is working for me. NO diet (meaning way of eating) is working. When I follow the SP p... Mon, 10 Sep 2012 18:40:41 EST Major setback - but I have got a plan!!! So this knee that has been bothering me has finally taken a turn for the worse. My MRI Thursday confirmed severe bursitis (you can see the swelling in my left knee and the leg above and below it) and disclosed degenerative joint disorder (also called osteoarthritis). It's very severe. They also saw it in my right knee, and suspect it's what is causing my shoulder pain as well, and why my left shoulder joint was already compromised at age 25.

What does this mean? Well because I am ... Tue, 28 Aug 2012 21:13:35 EST Hello, Sparkies! Guess who's married....? :) !!! Hello all! Just got home from my wonderful honeymoon in Wisconsin, in 60s and 70s weather, to hotter than you-know-what Texas at 110 degrees. UGH! Also came home to a MASSIVE (imo) weight gain ; back over the 200 mark. 202.6 to be exact. So of course I am back getting down to business. Let me explain my currently challenges:

1) While running the week before my wedding, I re-injured my left knee. Thinking it was better, I ran again on my honeymoon and re-injured the left knee at the... Thu, 16 Aug 2012 12:01:20 EST Updates and things and stuff Good Tuesday to y'all! It's a balmy hotter-than-hades here in Central Texas - the siding off the houses is melting it's so hot!!! Which means early workouts ifyou can get them in.

Our new plan is to Lift/run alternate days, leabing one day COMPLETELY off from workouts. This seems to increase my results as well as minimize knee pain for both of us. So far, so good. Yesterday I ran 2.8 miles in the morning (eva got fussy and it was 97 degrees when I finished) and then lifted in the e... Tue, 17 Jul 2012 09:01:29 EST Where have you BEEN?!?! Well friends, I have actually been here. Not Here, here. But here. Let me explain.

MY husband was working extra duty last week to help out a guy who's wife was in surgery/hospital. His Mom came to stay during that week, and it was...ok. Challenging yes, but also fun. A little. So I have been busy with her, and the baby.

ANYwho, we ran our first 5k on July 4. I was one week post ITBS/paterllar tracking issues diagnosis, and was still in my knee brace for running, walking... Fri, 13 Jul 2012 06:50:57 EST It's official - I'm a runner. You remember how a few blogs back I was saying how I didn't really "feel like a runner?"

That all changed yesterday morning when I VOLUNTARILY got up at 0530 in the morning, during my husband's leave, to go running. And I LIKED it. I mean, I was looking FORWARD to it. I ran the whole 5k in 36:38 and I wsa super proud that I broke a 12 minute mile on the whole thing, even with a few mild hills.

I got up again this morning, and even though our jogging stroller is messed u... Tue, 26 Jun 2012 09:04:47 EST What's wrong with my legs? A fun game for two or more players. So since about a month after I had Eva, I have had these ingrown hair/pimple/bumps on my legs. It started about the time I began running, but didn't get any better when I stopped running for two weeks. I have NEVER had problems like this in the past. EVER. I tried a razor that was made for more frequent shaves (ie, a better razor) and it didn't help. I tried the sensitive skin shaving junk (I used to be able to shave with soap or just water.) No better or worse. The bumps however are getting ... Tue, 19 Jun 2012 22:13:57 EST What I learned today Yesterday I spent a lot of time doing some research and finding ways to increase my speed and distance. I came up with a plan, and decided to implement it during my scheduled run today. Here's how NOT to implement change in your workout routine.

1) Do not try to implement everything all at once, at the very beginning of your run, the first day on a new route.

2) If you realize you are going too fast, slow down. Do not think "Oh, I am doing it! I am implementing all the... Tue, 19 Jun 2012 13:29:08 EST Caveat Emptor Just a friendly reminder, SparkPeople does NOT take liability for anything anyone tells you, even their own coaches or motivators. Remember that a lot of the advice you get on here is OPINION, not fact. If you want FACT, you need to do some research on your own. Anything I post, I get from my licensed nutritionist or licensed personal trainer (with a Masters Degree.)

I have recently seen posts by members asking questions, and some very dangerous advice being dispensed, not only by... Mon, 18 Jun 2012 16:39:38 EST Training for my 5k, and nutrition As I am sitting here listening to IDK what radio station out of Austin, TX, loving the perfect mix of music for my day, I am researching nutrition for runners. It seems that my current nutrition isn't working. As usual, even after updating in my workout amounts and fitness stuff, Spark People wants me to eat 1200-1550 calories a day. I am 190 lbs, running 3.1 miles a day, 4 days a week and lifting for an hour 3 days a week. When I eat that low of calories, I feel AWFUL. AND my body cannot per... Mon, 18 Jun 2012 09:43:13 EST Goals baby, GOALS!!!! Not the soccer type ones, but the ones that motivate you to go farther, push harder and beat your weaknesses.

Of course, I'm talking about my running goals.

My very first "competitive" 5k will be July 4 - the Freedom 5k fun run at Fort Hood. Richard and I will be running together with Eva. I say "competitive" because some people will be competing. I will be finishing. I am working on running the WHOLE 5k now, and should be able to at least "airborne shuffle" the entire ... Thu, 14 Jun 2012 09:54:34 EST You want to do WHAT? Oh, dear GOD no... So my husband comes up to me today after we went to Golds Gym and says, "Lets play a board game!" I am thinking, great! I have been asking to PLay Nightmare Before Christmas edition MoNOPOLY since he got home!!! What does he get out? HIS favorite game, the dreaded SETTLERS OF CATAN.

I dont care if it was game of the year in whatever year...I. HATE. THIS. GAME.

I didn't realize I'd be playing a "bored game."

*sigh* So now as he does dishes, I am dreading the ga... Sat, 2 Jun 2012 13:49:31 EST Tips from a runner on breathing, stride etc Well I promised I would let everyone know what my hubby came up with as far as running suggestions to improve my...well....EVERYTHING! Time, distance, exertion, stride, breathing - all of it!!! Now, my left knee is still acting up (a small tear in my MCL that "should heal on its own") and both my rotator cuffs are torn (right one BADLY - going to Dr soon. left one minimal, but aches after 4 miles...) BUT with his tips I have improved a lot. Here is our new running program (running together) a... Thu, 31 May 2012 20:34:32 EST My first 5k!!!! I'm going to write this like a movie script. (Imagine the Rocky theme in the background as we face our opening scene...*I heard it in my head when I began to run*)

One hot Texas morning, a lone woman stepped out to attack the distance. 3.1 miles - could she do it? Did she have what it takes?

It was 0830. The sun was already heating the earth. The pavement steamed and seemed to mock her.

She went in the house, got her baby, the stroller and her husband. Set he... Tue, 29 May 2012 10:24:39 EST Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I used to think that quote was so stupid. But here's why I don't think that anymore.

You have read my profile I hope, so you already know my backstory. The hubby knew I wanted to change up my eating and improve my results, so he suggested this website. I clicked to and rolled my eyes. Oh goodie, another site with fake people doing completely stupid excercises that wille ruin my knees/shoulders/back/life. So ... Sun, 27 May 2012 19:20:25 EST Turn and face the strange ch-ch-changes Time may change me, but I can't change time.

I heard this song today and I was thinking about it - SO TRUE. My Richard came home on Saturday and we are thrilled to have him back and safe.

I have been continuing my runs and today finishes the last week (Week 5/day 2) of the Walk-Jog a 5k program. I went 2.78 miles in 36 minutes. Later this week or weekend, depending on what we get up to, I will run my 5k - the LAST day of the program!!!! I will have completed a 5k. And t... Wed, 23 May 2012 12:38:58 EST Bonus Blog #1 Turns out I had a little free time in between packing, loading, eating lunch, now gonna shower, and then keep loading and packing. Why am I showering in the middle of the day, when it's hotter than a monkey on the equator? Well I guess that should explain it; it's hotter than a monkey on the equator outside. I am sweaty and G-ah-rooooosssss so I'm gonna shower and then keep working lol

It was weigh day today, which means measure day. I have lost another 5.5 inches, but that is dec... Thu, 3 May 2012 15:12:25 EST Just so you know! I'm going to be offline for awhile. I move this weekend and I wont have the internet in my new house until June. I will try and log in on my phone and at least track my food and fitness, as well as my walk/run a 5k program. Don't worry, i will be running and finishing it. I can't wait to show my hubby what I have accomplished when he gets home.

See you all in June or so. The first two weeks of June I'll be offline too because I will be visiting family and friends with Richard and E... Wed, 2 May 2012 17:40:21 EST Learning a new way to run and breathe DH called today and the topic got to our running workouts. He is training for the new PT tests, I am training for a 5k. He wants to run together when he gets home and he tells me he has a way for me to walk a 12 minute mile and jog a 10 minute mile. Something about a "different way to run" and a different way to breathe. I have a feeling I will be running to Army cadences lol But if it cuts my time and makes my effort more efficient that will be great. :) hard part is, that means I am not bei... Tue, 1 May 2012 19:32:42 EST Sweat, sweat and more sweat! I'm sure I will update after my run this afternoon, but I have recently been noticing that during my workouts (strength, cardio and running) that I am sweating a lot more than I did when I first began working our in Feb. Why is this I wonder? I'm not worried about it or anything, just curious. Am I working harder? Maybe, I can get thru the whole workouts now. And I think my intensity is higher than it was, but not drastically higher. I mean, I wasn't wussing through it before, and now I'm goi... Fri, 27 Apr 2012 12:32:43 EST Is it hot in here, or is it just me? Anyone else notice that when you work out, for like the next 5-6 hours you are really really warm? As in, have on the air conditioning, wearing shorts and a tank top and still sweating? Could it be the coffee I drank? Perhaps I am entering menopause at the ripe old age of 29? Not drinking enough ice water?

I also notice, recently, that I continue to pour sweat for the next hour or so after my workout (longest that lasted for was 2 hours post workout.) Not only is this gross, but it... Thu, 26 Apr 2012 15:46:36 EST Rocking my new outfit I am wearing one of my new outfits today from New York and Company, it flatters me and I look good and feel good in it. Around 1130 Eva and I are meeting my friend at BJs Brewery for lunch. I have been working hard and am already thinking about how to modify my meal so 1) I don't ruin all my hard work and 2) can incorporate one tiny drink. lol

Already did one workout this morning - MAN are my butt and hamstrings sore. Not sure if its from yesterday and the new running workout this... Tue, 24 Apr 2012 10:26:14 EST Week 2, Day 1 Today was Week 2, Day 1 of the walk/jog a 5k program. I went 1.94 miles in 27 minutes (walk 3min, run 1:30, repeat 5 more times) with the pollen causing mne to cough and sneeze all the way. I am still trying to catch my breath - finished about 45 minutes ago. lol I learned also today that you should not take a shower or bath immediately after finishing your run, even if you kid throws up and or poops all over you. Thank God Eva was in her baby seat next to me outside the shower, because I got... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 19:48:20 EST TOM - I forgot how much this SUCKS! lol I have been spotting about a week and yesterday TOM finally arrived. This morning I woke up with cramps so bad my back hurts as well. I dragged myself out of bed to help mom go look for antiques at a garage sale, and wound up getting something there for the new house (a brand new sectional, used to stage houses to sell, for half off retail. I checked online lol).

Then I came home and collapsed. I hurt SO bad. I went digging for the motrin and hydrocodeine leftover from having Eva ... Sat, 21 Apr 2012 13:38:28 EST Power to the SparkPeople! Well fellow sparkies, today was a really awesome day! I have a new 'obsession' lol Its a 1924 Hoosier Kitchen Dining Set that I found at a garage sale for $175 bucks. I bought some primer, paint and poly and now instead of a mint green, it's black! I have primered it, and painted the chairs with two coats, and the table only has one coat on it so far. The second coat and third coat will go on the table tomorrow, and touchups on the chairs. Then Monday I will do my first coat of Poly, followed... Fri, 20 Apr 2012 22:03:20 EST My next 30 years Tim McGraw has a song called "My next 30 years" and I heard it the other day. Since I am turning 30 in July, it got me thinking about what I want my next 30 years to be like.

I want to remain active, and not be like my mom who just began to get fit at 52 and is having a HECK of a time. I want to keep muscle and burn fat and keep up with my kids.

I want to travel - I haven't even seen much of the country yet and I'd love to travel internationally as well. I love to camp a... Thu, 19 Apr 2012 18:17:02 EST In my next 30 years, and I RAN!!!! I REALLY DID!!! I RAN!!! ME!!!! I REALLY REALLY DID!!!!

I just finished day 1 of the walk/jog a 5k program here on SparkPeople. Let me just say - HELL YEAH!!!!! I am SO proud of myself. I pushed Eva in her stroller and hit a bunch of stop signs (not literally) and my ddistance was 1.78miles in 25 minutes. Heck yes, go me!!! A 14 minute mile? I could barely do ONE of those in HS. lol I just almost did two!!!! Yes, I walk/jogged, but heck, I couldn't even do THAT in High School.

So I am ... Tue, 17 Apr 2012 18:05:38 EST Need advice from current runners! My fiance LOVES to run. He kind of has to love it, its a big part of his PT test. But he's trying to get up to running 10 miles. He is currently at 6. I am currently at zero miles. I cannot run to save my LIFE. But I want to. I want to share this with him, to take our daughter out running together etc. Running feels good to me, but I stink at it. When I ran in the past, I LOVED the way I felt, except that shortly after I threw up, got cramps in my side and hurt EVERYWHERE. Also, I was slow. V... Mon, 16 Apr 2012 21:37:49 EST Confused on Calories So I have worked out for over 2 hours today. I got in one hour this morning, then more lifting, abs and more cardio this afternoon. And now I wonder, is it doing any good?

My weight has still not moved an ounce (weighed at Dr office this morning, didnt have a choice, I had to.) I am shrinking, but still have lots of fat to burn off. Why is my cardio not burning it off? There are so many variables: Am I eating too much? Too little? What is my RMR? (found out its 1676) Do I create a ... Mon, 16 Apr 2012 17:56:14 EST Thinking "thighs" Things have been going well this week with me. I am getting in my workouts, but thinking about my thighs. (What girl doesnt?)

My thighs are really improving. They look much stronger and much better than when I gave birth to Eva. The downside is with definition, comes leftover cellulite (dum dum DUMMMMM!) Yes, the dreaded 'c' word. Striking terror into even the more anorexic supermodel...except they have airbrushing in all their photos. Me, not so much. lol

SO what to do... Thu, 12 Apr 2012 21:53:42 EST Plans and successes Just got home yesterday with my little baby girl, admitted to the hospital on her first Easter with the flu and formula problems again. Back to my workouts already today and feeling great! Let me tell you about all the awesome stuff that's been happening!

Success! I went shopping Saturday for new clothes at New York and Co, size 14 and or Large. I am doing awesome and really looking good. Very proud of myself and my new beautiful style. I am no longer tracking weight, just inches. ... Wed, 11 Apr 2012 17:58:17 EST NOT an April Fools Joke. Cuz I'm not laughing. So if you have been with me for a bit you know about my obsession/unhealthy hate based relationship with the scale. It won't go down. It wont. No matter how good I eat or how much I excercise.

My wonderful fiance decided it was time for me to get rid of the scale. In fact, he went as far as to say if he found it in the house after we got married he's destroy it. OK THEN!!!!

How will I measure my progress? (I wailed into the phone) I get up every morning and get on the sc... Sun, 1 Apr 2012 08:44:46 EST Thinking about homecoming, 'sexy' and my scale from hell. Homecoming is moving closer - some of his unit is already home. It got me thinking today, about what is sexy, and what I feel sexy is, and what makes me feel sexy. And about what I can do in the next couple months before he comes home.

1) I have this scale, and it HATES me. I have named it Turd Ferguson because it makes me laugh, and it's a turd. My scale doesn't want to do its job. It thinks that it is all knowing and because of that, it will purposefully go up after I have eaten ... Thu, 29 Mar 2012 17:06:50 EST C'mon SparkPeople - wth?! I have a little bone to pick with SparkPeople today.

I have been tracking my excercise and it's been a real challenge. Let me lay it out there for everyone.
1) I do HIIT cardio (Insanity/ChaLean Extreme) for 30-60 minutes a day and circuit training (mixing intervals of weights with strength training) I have been tracking this as Aerobics: High impact (P90x/Insanity) and Circuit Training. Today I started to look more at the actual workouts, and they are more cardio kickboxing d... Thu, 29 Mar 2012 16:44:25 EST The up-side of a colicky baby. My little Eva is colicky and the only thing that calms her is her daily stroller ride. Hiking fully loaded down with her diaperbag backpack and all my stuff for 3-4 miles a day is a nice bonus workout, in addition to calming my sweet little Teradactyl baby. I love it!!!!!! And it's SO nice to get out in the fresh air!!! Wed, 28 Mar 2012 19:36:48 EST NEW SHOES - WHO KNEW?!?!?! Hello fellow awesome people,

Today was another great day here. I am down to 195.6 lbs, and feeling wonderful. I am currently on 2 workouts a day plus a 3-4 mile walk with my daughter in her stroller at a 22 -24 minute/mile pace. I downloaded the Map My Walk app on my phone so now I know my pace, total time, calories, distance etc.

Eva and I walked to the local mall today and we went to get some new shoes. I need new shoes for walking and for my workouts. My old Nike REA... Tue, 27 Mar 2012 21:51:53 EST It's all about the food Well Sparkies, I am up another 2 lbs after yo-yoing all week. Here is some of the advice I got about why that might be from a personal trainer and a registered nutritionist.

1) Many women cannot lose weight until 6 months post partum because of hormones. Its just the way it is.

2) To lose fat, you have to do a intense cardio workout for at LEAST one hour a day, 5-6 days a week. To build muscle you need to always lift BEFORE your cardio.

3) I was not eating eno... Sun, 25 Mar 2012 12:12:41 EST How Food Network almost burned down my house. First I have to tell you, this is hilarious, after 4 weeks of working out and eating perfectly and weight gain every single week, I went on a trip to Wisconsin, ate only ONE healthy meal a day and did not workout. And I lost 2 lbs. I am done trying to figure out the scale LOL

Last night I was going to cook up some chicken and I had been watching Food Network a lot this weekend. I am pretty sure it was on Iron Chef- they were cooking up some chicken and said that if the pan is hot a... Tue, 20 Mar 2012 15:53:11 EST Home! :) Just got home from a 10 day trip to Wisconsin, where I spent a lot of time with family, ate fairly decently and got almost all my wedding planning done. This week - back to my workouts, back to my strict food, a dr appt for Eva and a road trip to secure housing for my future hubby, Eva and myself. I really hope we get this house - Im ready to know where I'm going in about 8 weeks. Originally I was going to go to Wisconsin until the wedding, but Richard misses me and Eva SO much, he just can't... Sun, 18 Mar 2012 19:45:33 EST Find the flaw!!! Please help! Ok folks, it's time to play Find the Flaw - where I tell you my workout and eating plan and you tell me why I am gaining weight. I can't believe I am burning SO much fat that I am actually gaining muscle weight at a rate of about 4/10 lbs per week. Because the scale keeps going up (damn thing didnt read my last blog...or maybe it did and I really pissed it off!)

Diet:
Breakfast - quick oats or steel cut outs with Jif Natural PB and a tsp brown sugar
Banana
sometimes ... Fri, 2 Mar 2012 08:37:48 EST Dear Scale, GO TO HELL!!!! OK, so, two solid weeks of eating right, cutting out soda and all goodies, not one meal out of this house, working out once (sometimes twice) a day ANNNNNDDD....

The monkey-flipping scale went UP! UPPPP!!! Its not supposed to go UP! and especially not up by two pounds? What the....who....why.....ARGH!

As I stood there this morning before my workout, naked, and cussing at the scale with the full vigor of my 'I woke up at 6am for THIS' mentality, I debated not working out.... Wed, 29 Feb 2012 17:45:57 EST Exciting, weird and YAY I DID IT!!! It has been an interesting weekend. My beautiful Eva is sleeping beside me, so I have to make this quick (she's beginning to stir!)

Mom and I went shopping. Mom lets me cook everything and I also pretty much buy everything, but she's all hung up on 'high fructose corn syrup' and wont buy ANYTHING with ANY in it. The problem is our grocery stores are kind of limited and almost EVERYTHING has SOME sugar or hfcs in it. Mom wanted to make her healthy jumbalaya, but it needed sausage. W... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 17:06:23 EST Need some info/support/advice Well today I went for a walk with Eva because I was WORE OUT. My mom did our daily workout alone because the one hour I had this morning Richard called for the first time in over a week. We had a lot to talk about so I took that time for myself. But since then, Eva and I have been on opposite schedules. She's sleeping for maybe 5-10 minutes then wakes up, and isn't really going down.

I have been doing one workout every day and some days two workouts. No improvement on the scale ye... Thu, 23 Feb 2012 17:59:38 EST Welcome, Eva Marie!!! Eva Marie was born on 30 Jan, weighing 7lb 7 oz and 19 inches long. Richard got home on leave 5 days before, so we were able to share the whole wonderful experience together.

You know what that means. TIME TO GET BACK IN SHAPE!!!

3 months until Richard comes home and less than 6 months until our wedding. Three days before Eva was born I was 228 lbs, and today (11 days post partum) I am 197 lbs. I know that breastfeeding is helping. Since it is so cold outside I am going ... Sat, 11 Feb 2012 12:11:59 EST 37 WEEKS - almost baby time!!! Hello Sparkfriends!!! I'm 37 weeks pregnant and my sweet Richard is coming home on R and R in about a week. It's the first time I have seen him since he leeft at the end of May for Afghanistan. He has only seen pictures of me pregnant, and only ultrasound pictures of our firstborn. I have about 3 months after he goes back after R and R, until he c... Sun, 15 Jan 2012 18:38:00 EST Update - 24 weeks (almost!) Hi everyone! It's been a while since I wrote, but as you can imagine it's been very busy here. This saturday I will be 24 weeks, and this saturday it will also be one year since my father passed away of kidney cancer. I have been changing my eating habits after having a problem with too much sodium, and I enjoy eating healthy. I have been 'eating clean' which consists of eating little to no processed food and cooking LOTS. Its really fun, and not too much work. Plus I have felt WAY better and... Wed, 12 Oct 2011 15:50:51 EST It's been a while!!!! Well folks, so much to tell you!!!

1) I had my first sonogram on Wednesday because based on my LMP I was 9 weeks along. However, due to my sonogram, the date was revised to be 7 weeks 4 days, which means today I am 8 weeks 2 days. The morning sickness and most of the food aversions are gone. Sometimes I will eat something and it will make me a little queesy. All my bloodwork came back great. I get lightheaded sometimes when I bend over (unusual). Other than that, I am feeling real... Mon, 27 Jun 2011 08:31:53 EST Workouts and info I had my Dr. appt with my primary doc yesterday and we did blood work JUST to be sure, but it looks pretty darn sure. In preparation, I began to try and figure out my new nutritional needs and how to meet them. It's a little tricky at times because I still have such food aversions. There's still few things that don't make my stomach turn at the thought of them. My prenatal gummy vitamins (yes! I found some!) are awesome so far and I like their taste. I am still trying to figure out what to do... Wed, 8 Jun 2011 19:06:59 EST BIG NEWS!!!! Well, actually, little news.... I am pregnant!!! About 6 weeks along and today (our anniversary) Richard called and I told him. He's really really excited and so am I! Needless to say my workout goals changed alot as did my weight-loss goals. I am now not trying to lose weight. I am trying to stay in shape while I am pregnant and looking into more info about what to eat, what excercises to do etc.

My first Dr appt is tomorrow and I have no idea what to expect. I am also getting lo... Mon, 6 Jun 2011 21:45:24 EST This canNOT be happening...NOOO! Two things are about to drive me out of my head! WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER THE LESSONS/TRICKS/ THINGS I ALREADY KNOW? AND WHY ALL OF A SUDDEN IS MY BODY CONSTANTLY SENDING OUT HUNGER SIGNALS?

Every month I build in allowances for TOM eating. I can't seem to NOT eat badly during TOM (just the 2-3 days before) but this month has been bad. My body has been trying to 'start' for over a week. I've been craving crap food and the cravings USUALLY stop when I 'start' so I have been mindlessly i... Wed, 1 Jun 2011 18:32:29 EST
