Fri, 11 Apr 2014 09:14:45 EST April Plans! OMG, WHERE did the first quarter of the year go??

I haven't made any forward progress, BUT: I've stabilized at 137-138. I'm still exercising a lot but as usual, my eating has been inconsistent which is why I haven't lost any more.

Isn't it true that we have to keep things fresh on our journey, that we need to find ways to continually motivate ourselves? I'm doing well with exercise; I've been averaging 18,000 steps per day and keeping up with my classes. I've been sloppy with my nutrition and I've been up and down the same 5 pounds all of February. We have a discussion thread on the Emotional Eating Spark team.

Today's topic is "Head Hunger".

The author contends that there are times when we crave crunchy or chewy foods when we are feeling angry, frustrated, or resentful. She says when we have the desire to eat these kinds of foods we should ask ourselves, "What do I really want to chew on?"

I'm not sure that ... I have to go through the 1,335 pictures my husband (mostly) took, delete about 1/3 of them, and then I'll write a blog and post pictures of the trip. Thu, 12 Sep 2013 15:01:45 EST Frustrations We came back from hiking on Monday, two days earlier than planned. The temperature ticked up from the mid-90s to the high 90s, and so did the humidity. We did 12 miles on Saturday, 9 on Sunday, 7 on Monday. We both got bit up by chiggers on Saturday, which is a thoroughly miserable experience. If you are from the North you don't know about the South's dirty little secret: CHIGGERS. You can't see them and they don't start to itch or burn until hours later, so you never know exactly where... Tue, 20 Aug 2013 14:37:41 EST Time is Always Too Short This blog is kind of all over the place, so I hope you'll bear with me. My feelings are a total jumble.

I am really sad about the death of my former sister-in-law. She was only 50 years old. She was a woman who took care of herself. She was very thin, exercised a lot and watched what she ate. Her hair was always done and she had a standing appointment to have French manicures on her nails and TOENAILS!! She had lovely jewelry and always "dressed to the nines". Some would say... Thu, 15 Aug 2013 08:48:54 EST Hiking in CO and a Sad Turn of Events We have enjoyed our time in Colorado. The hiking has been beautiful but challenging. I think we've adapted well to the change in altitude, which is good news for our Peru hiking trip next month. We're at 9,500 feet now and the highest elevation for the Peru trip is 14,000. While that's still a big difference, we'll have 3 days or so of easy hiking and walking to acclimate to the higher elevation. I feel pretty confident that we'll do fine.

The sad news is that my brother's form... Tue, 13 Aug 2013 07:59:26 EST Wichita, Kansas -- Who Knew?
