We went s, I bought a few things for my grandchildren. Went thru the drive thru at McD's I had a salad. I had fun with my 4 mos. old grandson then we brought him for his shots. we then went and picked up my other grandson. I visited with them for awhile and then drove home. It was so nice to spend time with my daughter and her 2 boys. Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:23:41 EST A Great Weekend! I have had a wonderful weekend. I was busy but enjoyed it. I had my grandson from 1pm to a little after midnight. He is so much fun. Both my husband and I took care of him. On Sunday I rested for a while. Made the bed had breakfast showered and then went to work the Bingo I volunteer for. Afterwards my girlfriend and I went for a nice walk. It was so refreshing. I went to the grocery store then home and got my dinner in the oven. It was so good. Cleaned up after dinner and got to relax for th... Mon, 15 Sep 2014 09:23:23 EST No Bread for a Week! Well I have decided that I can't eat any bread or pastries for at least a week. I am breaking out with a rash of water blisters. This happened years ago and I had an allergy to gluten. I had learned to control it with a diet, but I have been eating too much bread and pastry. I now need to lay off the gluten for a while. It will take about a week to clear and then I will need to control it again. I know I can do this, I have controlled it for nearly 20 years and this is just a setback. Today has been extremely busy. I had friends over for lunch today. I made a bisquick chicken pie and cut up fruit. I also cleaned my house. At 9:20 I needed to bring my sister to the drs. After her appointment I came back home and finished gettting things ready for lunch. After lunch I cleaned up the kitchen. Thu, 28 Aug 2014 22:23:42 EST A Good Day! I am having a very good day today. I went to my sister's (she has down syndrome) fashion show. It is such an enjoyable time. The clients and staff select their outfits from the what-not-shop. Then 2or 3 clients and a staff member get to model their clothes. they parade down an aisle to the music they select. Smiles, smiles and more smiles. Everyone enjoys this so very much. It is so rewarding. Fri, 22 Aug 2014 15:59:25 EST Getting Back To My Routine!! With my Drs. approval I am getting back on track with my exercise. I still have to modify it a little so not to damage the knee anymore. While exercising I need to concentrate on how I bend or not twist the knee. So far so good. I am doing it. Yeah!! Wed, 20 Aug 2014 09:30:54 EST A Very Busy Day!!! Today has been a very busy day. First I traveled for 2.5 hrs., then my husband and I played the slots at the holywood casino, after that we went to the hotel and watched our 2 grandson's. We then went for a nice walk about 35 min. We stopped at Tim Horton's and had dinner. The baby has been quite fussy. He finally has settled down and is now sleeping. I am very tired now so good night. Sat, 16 Aug 2014 23:23:28 EST Positive Results!! I saw my Dr. today and I got a good report. I don't have to go back to see him, unless the knee starts hurting again. Went to the grocery store, got the mail did my knee exercises, and will be watching the baby in a few hours. A great beginning for the day. Sat, 9 Aug 2014 12:10:58 EST Feeling Better! I got to go and do some errands this morning. It is actually the first time I've been out of the house for a week. I am feeling better. The exercises are getting easier. Today I actually feel pretty good. I have been doing very good with controlling what I eat and I am consistent with my knee exercises. I am definitely on the mend. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes. Thu, 7 Aug 2014 10:10:48 EST Hanging in There! Today I am hurting a little. I am doing the exercises the Dr. gave me. I have been doing them faithfully twice a day. It takes me about 10 min. each time I do them. I guess I am improving, even though it can be difficult. I make sure to ice after each time. It will only get better. Mon, 4 Aug 2014 19:42:21 EST On the Mend! Well I am recuperating. My exercise is very limited. Knee exercises only. I do 3 sets of 10 with 3 different exercises. I do this twice daily. It is getting easier, but each session takes a good 10 min. or more. I add 20 min of exercise to my fitness every day. I can't wait until I can go for a walk or swim again. But patience is a virtue. I will get there eventually. Sun, 3 Aug 2014 18:38:18 EST Surgery! Well I had my surgery today. everything went well. I was scheduled for 9:30 am and I got home by 12:15. I am just resting now. My husband fixed my lunch and dinner. I did manage to do a 2 mile walk this morning. For the next 12 days I will be doing knee exercises, hopefully after my checkup I will be able to resume my other exercises. For now my leg is elevated and I am applying ice. Thu, 31 Jul 2014 18:19:26 EST Getting Prepared! Well today and the next 2 days I plan on getting as much exercise that I can. I have my menu ready and I am going to stick to it. On Thurs. I won't be eating anything until after my surgery. The next days to follow I will be doing very little exercise, except for the few exercises the doctor gives me to strengthen the knee. It is just with the scope to repair the knee. I will be using crutches for a couple of days. No driving and little activity. I will get caught up on my reading and I will... He is not doing a replacement at this time. I have another tear in my knee. He will go in and repair it again. So I won't be able to exercise for a week or so other than my knee exercises. I am still on track this week. I have set a goal for myself and I have been sticking to it. I have done a 3 mile walk with Leslie Sansone, warmups, stretching cooldown and worked the abs. I have been following my sparkpeople plan and I am amazed at how well I am doing. I always make sure to mark down everything I put into my mouth. I have been eating 3 balanced meals a day and choosing healthy snacks. I did have a weight watchers icecream bar today. I have eaten plenty of veggies and fruit, as well as carbs protein and fiber. I did plenty of exercise also. Sun, 13 Jul 2014 18:48:37 EST Sparkpeople Videos!! I love the 10 minute videos, I don't do them every day, but once or twice a week I do them. I just finished a boot camp kickboxing video. I think I'm going to do the seated core video next. I find this gives me a change in my exercise. I need variety to keep me motivated. I do know since I did my 1st video which was the seated cardio, I have improved so much. This is when I notice the difference. After that my grandchildren were here. Two new babies and my 3 year old grandson. He kept me very busy. I had so much fun with the babies too. I have a new battery, and a new cord. Now my spark tracker will not sync. I've tried unplugging it and it won't reset. I am at a loss. Any IDEAS? Sat, 5 Jul 2014 09:45:17 EST I'm Bummed out Again! I was so excited this morning because I got my new battery. However it died again. I don't think it's the battery at all, I think it is the power cord. So tomorrow I am heading to Best Buy and purchase a new power cord. We will check it out to make sure it works before I leave the store. This really upsets me because I can't record my spark tracker. I hope it is fixed tomorrow. Wed, 2 Jul 2014 21:37:45 EST HOORAY!!! My battery died last Friday so I haven't been able to use my sparktracker. I still used it but had to estimate the steps I took. I ordered the battery Friday and I got it today, Yeah!!! So my tracker is in sync again. Just a quick blog to let you know how I am upping my steps. While watching a show during the commercial I get up and walk in place. You would be surprised how many extra steps that adds. I started doing this a couple of weeks now. I also had a fiber one brownie. Mon, 23 Jun 2014 16:19:47 EST A Stressful Morning! My morning started at 5;45 Am. I woke up to the smell of dog fecis. My dog had gone to the bathroom on my rugs in the living room and the porch. So I cleaned the messes and then had to shampoo the rugs. Thank goodness I own a rug shampooer. After about 45 min. of cleaning I needed to rest. I love my dog, but today I wish I didn't have one. I'm ok now that everything is cleaned. Thanks for listening, I needed to vent. I also add core exercises and strengthening 2-3 times per week. I have been doing this for the past 2 years. I have noticed the muscles that I am gaining. I feel accomplished and successful. I feel I have accomplished a lot since I began Sparkpeople. I keep track daily of everything I eat and my exercise. I don't look at food as being off limits. I just watch how much I consume. I have had candy and pastries as well as plenty of carbs, proteins fats and fiber. I try to modify any candy and pastry as well as chips. Colton was born May 29th and he weighed 7lbs 14 oz. He also has a head of hair. We have to keep moving it away from his eyes. both boys are healthy and beautiful. My other grandchildren have seen them and are sharing in the excitement. Tyler has an older brother and he is very happy with his new brother. I now have 1 girl and 4 boys.
