The meetings in our town were a waste of time for many reasons I won't bore you with. I lost 3 pounds this week for a total of 21lbs in 10 weeks. <BR> This way of eating and tracking works for me. I track everything on Spark then use the days total nutrition numbers to calculate my points for the day. After loosing 70lbs in my first 14 months doing Spark, I experienced a series of health challenges that have put me off exercise for a total of 11 months in the last 26 months. I know this because I never stopped tracking my food and exercise despite the periods of inactivity and less than clean eating. Although I continue to be incapacitated for a few days at a time due to back pain, I have managed to claw my way back to the 70lb weight loss total once again. I never put on more than 14 lbs ... This has been adream of mine for at least 20 years. When I began SPARK 19 months ago, I set a goal to loose 150 lbs by my 65th birthday (last month). I jog 4 miles a day. Four days ago we ended a 7 day record heat wave here in NH mountains where daytime highs went from 65 to 82 last Thursday. I only managed one third of my usual monthly total fitness minutes. After 13 months of steady progress to a 75 lb weight loss, I gained 4 lbs. It felt pretty good and I am icing my back as I write this blog. I know I put on some weight for the first time in 13 months but I hope to be back to even by the end of the month. I hope to increase my distance by .25 mile every day until I am back to my 4 mile/ day routine. Then I will work to get my time down to pre-injury performance (68 min). Up to yesterday I managed some cardio most days but now I have to give my cardio workouts up for a while as the pain is worse. It's weird to sit around all day after 13 months of almost daily cardio training. It's also a struggle to eat within my target range. Hope this gets better soon. He credits making his food tracker public with helping to keep him on track during his current maintenance. While in recovery room, my Dr. Told me he removed two polyps and then he told his nurse to make an appt. for me in two weeks to discuss my results. Yesterday I called his office to see if he could call me with the results as we were expecting an ice storm on top of yesterday's snow storm. She told me the dr. The bonus was fitting into the seat...WOOHOO! and although we left our house at 4:00pm and returned after midnight, I was able to find food that put me at the bottom of my food range for the day. Turns out since I do all my walking on uneven, rocky, dirt roads and seldom take a day off, I was over taxing these muscles that have to work overtime to maintain my balance. My morning walk of 3 miles put me at 502.75 miles for 2011. I have a goal of 850 miles for the year and will begin strength training when I return from vacation Oct 1. <BR> I normally walk 7 days a week unless "life" gets in the way or my body says I need a day off.
