No tracking, weighing, etc. Just me and my FitBit adding activity minutes automatically.

Made a change to my diet last week and already feel much better. In 2004 I was diagnosed Lactose Intolerant and had to make big changes (I was used to drinking a gallon or more of milk per week). After the adjustment period and finding my HEB started selling Mootopia milk, I've been doing good.

However, the last couple of years I've been getti... Wed, 19 Jun 2013 10:43:00 EST We have re-booked the re-book.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5318290 Now scheduled for July 1st for the cruise. Hoping third time is a charm on this. Everyone cross your fingers or whatever you do that works for good luck please.

I've been off schedule diet and exercise-wise for the last couple of weeks but no gain. Monday I got serious again and walked the track after work the last 2 days. Can't today because our high was 74 at 6am but by the time I got to work at 8am, it was 48. Gotta love central Texas weather. 24 I have put i... Wed, 10 Apr 2013 11:14:55 EST Swimsuit arrived yesterday... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5303528 It is so cute on! With my chest, no way I could have gotten one size smaller to work. The dress part isn't tight to the body and is well below the crotch area so the inner thigh problem area is covered.

Now if we can just book a cruise and not have it cancelled. Getting together with my brother tonight to look at options and have to wait for my daughter to get dates approved with work. She's ready to just sit in a rubber boat in the river and say she was on a cruise.
<... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 17:31:23 EST I bought a swimsuit.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5292467 OK, I ordered it online from DressBarn. Have no idea how it will look though because they don't have them in the store. This is the first swimsuit I've purchased in about 5 or more years. And the ones I did buy were from Walmart, simple large swimsuit.

This one is really cute and reminds me of Betty Boop. What do you think?
http://www.dressbarn.com/detail/longitud
e--dotted-tummy-control-swimdress/1013
55824/158

I have a cruise in May and one in November... Tue, 19 Mar 2013 13:39:29 EST Weather is much nicer now http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5286444 Hope it stays that way too. I have lots to do this weekend.

Staying below my weight chart goal by a couple of pounds. That is encouraging for me and I've lost 1.5 pounds this week. Was able to get 1.25 miles in at the track yesterday and hope to do it again tonight before going home.

Still fighting with HughesNet about my internet connection. Had to call the guy that came out on Tuesday to replace the modem, cables and connections - per Customer Care. He decided we ... Thu, 14 Mar 2013 11:17:10 EST Bad weather this weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5279159 I was going to work in the yard on Sunday but we have rain in the forecast from now through then. Today has been rainy and cold (OK, 61 but the wind is cold).

Took apart one bed frame to put together another. Dropped a part of the old heavy one on my foot so the base of my big toe is sore and will probably bruise. Already have a lovely bruise on my upper arm from the laptop. Yes, a computer. Carrying it open between my elbow and hand, in the partial darkness and ran it into ... Fri, 8 Mar 2013 16:56:57 EST Steady going http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5263485 I haven't been successful in making a blog entry every 4 to 5 days lately. Need to get back on track after being sick and the usual craziness called life.

Not sure I'm going to make the 6 pound challenge this month but will be close. Working in the yard for a couple of hours yesterday helped me get down 4 as of this morning.

Taxes are done, weather is beginning to cooperate for outdoor walks and for the first 2 months this year I think I will meet my objective of 5 pou... Mon, 25 Feb 2013 13:55:57 EST Cruise Update & Valentines Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5250328 Got the official email that the cruise has been canceled. Three weeks for the refund to be processed (it was paid in full). So this weekend my brother and I will be contacting Carnival to book one in May. Same ship because it's easier to leave out of Galveston, TX for us.

I think we may be doing a 5 day that leaves on a Saturday this time. The original was 4 days, leaving on Thursday. Hopefully they will have the ship fixed and updated by then, it's 3 months away. Carnival ha... Thu, 14 Feb 2013 11:29:54 EST Bad news day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5249277 I have 2 cruises booked this year, the most exciting and my reason for getting back on track is a transatlantic in November. To get a discount on the cost, I needed to book another one before it to be a returning traveler. So we booked one to leave April 4th.

Well, guess what.... that is on the Carnival Triumph - currently being towed to Mobile, AL due to a fire in the engine room. Found out today that they have canceled all cruises on this ship through April 13th. My daughter ... Wed, 13 Feb 2013 15:18:03 EST My new FitBit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5240243 I think I'm really going to love having this. Just got it set up on Monday night (left it at work all weekend) and loaded my numbers for yesterday. I managed to do 10,000 steps even when I didn't think I would - I work a sit down job.

Love the alarm setting but I'm still figuring out the web page. I want to set additional alarms but can't figure out how. Haven't lost any weight since a week ago but bounced up and down a couple. Need to add more exercise to my day so I guess it... Wed, 6 Feb 2013 12:59:42 EST 7 pounds down... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5231845 But I came in second in the office weight loss contest. It's not determined by who lost the most but the percentage of weight lost. I actually lost more weight but by percentage I was behind by 0.27%. Of course the person that won weighs 50 pounds less than I do, so it was easier for her to get the higher percentage.

On to February's contest, which might be a bit more difficult since we all know that first month gets us hyped up and then the drop slows down. I know it's coming ... Thu, 31 Jan 2013 14:24:37 EST The start of a new week. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5227154 We have weigh in on Thursday for the contest at work. This one determines who the winner is for January. I'm feeling pretty good but we have another person that has been really losing in previous weeks.

I'm tracking my food and water consistently, although I have had to guess on some things. I fixed sausage gravy yesterday with biscuits and it wasn't divided evenly between the 3 of us. I had 1 biscuit and about 1 cup of the gravy (made with milk and water). So I put down 2 b... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 13:01:10 EST No real words of wisdom.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5223049 Just a personal update.

At home I'm dealing with plumbing issues with an older home. I usually try to fix these myself but this one may just be more than I can handle.

On the HIP side, I'm tracking and doing some exercise at least 4 days a week. Not much but doing it, which is good. I might try to get a few laps at the school track before shopping tomorrow and hopefully before the rain arrives.

Everyone have a good weekend!

Pamela Fri, 25 Jan 2013 12:37:42 EST Just checking in... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5214861 I gave myself a goal to make a blog entry at least once every 5 days. More if I suddenly have something to say. Today I'm down 5 pounds in a little over 2 weeks. I know this will slow down as time goes by, but I'm happy with how this is going right now

I'm also behind on my food intake for the day. Still time to have another meal/snack to reach my minimum though. It's actually easier to meet the middle of my calorie range when I'm working. Not sure why that is but on weekends... Sat, 19 Jan 2013 22:12:16 EST Diet is a dirty word, be HIP instead http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5206814 I don't want to use that word, it's defeating and depressing. It makes you think of doing without good food - at least what we consider "good food". Our minds turn into that child that is rebellious when told not to do something, we do the opposite. We learn the hard way and then pulling ourselves out of the mess we've made isn't always easy.

For a long time I've been trying to come up with a name that is encouraging and on Saturday it came to me.

H.I.P. = Health Impr... Mon, 14 Jan 2013 13:52:42 EST What is your excuse? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5202264 It's too time consuming to count what I eat and exercise?
Too Tired?
Not enough time?
Can't afford a gym membership?

There are hundreds, maybe thousands more we can come up with. I think these are the basics of what I've said in the past or heard someone say. This is my opinion on each.

1. It's too time consuming to count what I eat and exercise. - Do you make time to stop by the coffee shop before work? Or pick up the kids from school/daycare? Once ... Fri, 11 Jan 2013 13:54:25 EST 4 days in... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5194847 I'm logging my food, it's difficult because I've been eating out but that will soon slow down and become easier. Staying on the high side of my calories but that's a start.

Exercise on the weekends is not as easy with the cold weather so I'm doing it all at work (we have a treadmill). Twice a day I try to go in and walk. Last week was only once a day and a .5 mile but this morning I've done a .75 mile and hope to do it again this afternoon. Once the weather warms up, I will s... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 11:28:33 EST Almost a year later.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5188112 I'm at it again. Didn't really get serious after my last blog and at this point I don't even remember why. Not that it matters because I can't change the past and dwelling on it gets me nowhere.

Yesterday I came back with the plan to continue no matter what happens. No excuses to not enter my food, exercise, etc. The excuses have to leave along with any other negative words, i.e. can't, not enough time, too tired, etc.

I know I won't have perfect days with my food in... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 12:09:11 EST Another chance with the office contest http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4711795 Well, I lost 7.8 pounds in 3 weeks for 4.3% of my body weight. Came in 2nd in the office contest but that's good. We are doing it again and will have final weigh in on the 24th.

I really wish this weather would stay nice so I could get more walking in. I don't have a gym membership and actually prefer to walk outside. I'll get it going soon. Another issue with walking right now is I have so much to do. It's tax time (got those done) but now I need to do the FAFSA for my daugh... Mon, 30 Jan 2012 09:24:51 EST Starting the next phase http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4686423 Got my walking DVD! Will be starting it tonight.

Tried the pasta dish, yum! The calories only came to about 250 calories, 12g protein, 42 carbs and 7 fats. The spinach was just slightly wilted by the heat of the pasta and pasta water, so you got creamy and a slight crunch in one bite. Definitely will be making this one again.

The egg rolls will be dinner tonight. Will need to calculate the data on them because I couldn't find the wrappers from the recipe. The ones ... Tue, 17 Jan 2012 10:15:33 EST First week into the office challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4678262 I'm down 3.8 pounds from the weigh in last Friday. 4th place in percentage of weight lost.

I'm good with this because other than walking to the printer now, I'm not doing any exercising. The weather is too cold, the wind has kicked up really bad and I don't have a gym membership. Monday is supposed to be a nice day, so I'm hoping to hit the track at my daughter's school after work.

I bought some of the rocker bottom type shoes - yes I know they don't make you lose w... Fri, 13 Jan 2012 12:19:01 EST Off to a good start http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4671213 4 days in and I'm down 2.5 pounds - even with eating my daddy's breaded tenderloin sandwich and fries on Saturday. Tonight will be difficult to track, I have a cocktail event in San Antonio for the Final 9 Table of the Eva Longoria's Eva's Heros Casino Night.

Not worried though, I won't eat eveything in sight. Plus I know that protien is what I need when losing weight, so I will try to only eat items with that as the main ingredient. Tue, 10 Jan 2012 12:00:04 EST Starting back at it today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4661674 OK, I knew I had gained weight but fortunately it isn't as bad as I thought. 18 pounds is not good but I have to think it could have been worse.

Our office group did the first weigh in today. We have about 14 people in the group. We are determining the monthly winner by who lost the most percentage and that person gets the buy-in for the month. I'm not in it for the money but for the motivation with others in the group.

My goal is to feel good and look good in clothe... Fri, 6 Jan 2012 10:37:56 EST Hope to start the momentum again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4659309 Fell off the radar here and my workout/diet. Gained weight, probably most of what I lost in such a short time while on here. I just couldn't get going after my ankle injury, then I used the excuse that it was way too hot to be outside and let my pilates DVD sit in the drawer.

Not making excuses but being honest - to myself. I knew better but didn't do anything about it.

We have a group at work that is making it a contest to get into better shape and weight. I've join... Thu, 5 Jan 2012 11:08:20 EST I'm back! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4270397 I've not been on here like I should be and my scales are beginning to show that. I've gained about 5 lbs after doing so well during the holidays and ankle injury.

The ankle is still messed up so exercise has not happened. If I walk too far - about a mile - it hurts and swells up again. Not to when it was first injured but I'm limping because of it. Of course that means tennis is out of the question. So I'm determined to make myself walk, even with the pain, hoping it will get ... Wed, 1 Jun 2011 15:28:31 EST I was bad.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4174418 I hate a certain time of the month. It's where you want to eat everything you can get your hands on .

Well, I did put just about everything I shouldn't into my mouth. Pizza, cookies, ice cream, large portions, so I was really afraid of the scale this morning. Not bad, so my mind says it will actually hit me tomorrow.

I'm ready for it. I know I messed up. I knew when I was sitting on the couch with the entire container of ice cream and a spoon it wasn't a good idea.... Mon, 18 Apr 2011 13:51:30 EST Slacking off http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4141370 Well, the ankle is doing better but still in a brace and range of motion limited. Wanted to start walking again this morning - but there was a thunder storm with 40 mph gusts. Maybe this afternoon will be better.

Haven't been tracking my food online, just in my head. Doing pretty good at it, no weight gain.... until this morning. I guess since I haven't been able to exercise the way I was, my appetite has been crazy the last week or so. My roommate found me eating in my sleep ... I think they are working already.

Several sites recommended Bromelain, Turmeric and ginger. I'm allergic to ginger in that it causes migraines, so that was not an option. But the other 2 sounded good and the person at the vitamin shop said the Bromelain would have my ankle feeling better in about 3 days.

She was right, not completely healed but the pain is much better s... Wed, 16 Mar 2011 11:00:39 EST Easing into working out again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4079020 As of today, I am planning to attend a pilates class on Saturday. My ankle is still very sore but I can put weight on it now. Flexibility is the issue, more so when walking because I am unable to compress the top of my foot/ankle area due to continued swelling and bruising. But I'm sure Stephanie (my instructor) will be able to give me modifications for some of the moves.

Unfortunately, going on Saturday will mean it will be difficult getting out of bed on Sunday. I'm sure all ... Wed, 9 Mar 2011 13:13:33 EST "Walking" around now... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4054875 OK, so the turtle would beat me in a race. But I'm using both legs for short distances, longer ones require one or both crutches. And after "walking" around most of the morning, I have to take off my shoe and use the crutches due to swelling.

I'm good with that though, it's progress. Just like when I began this change to my life by walking, I was so out of shape that 1/3 mile had me winded and wanting a nap. I worked my way up to 5 miles at a time and it felt wonderful. I wil... Mon, 28 Feb 2011 15:50:03 EST Out of the cast but still can't walk... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4044550 I don't mean going for a walk.... actually taking a step. My ankle is still swollen and bruised - 3 weeks after falling. But I can now "try" to move it around and get the range of motion going again. It's not great and I need to ice it daily but starting to get back on track.

The good news is I actually have lost 2 pounds! It was difficult to get food logged, no motivation, too tired, etc. I know - excuses - but I mentally kept track of my intake and must have been doing somet... Thu, 24 Feb 2011 13:51:05 EST Still on crutches..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4022660 I wonder how many calories are burned hauling myself around on crutches???

Not able to put weight on my foot after 2 weeks. Interesting colors on the bruises at the base of my toes - I don't think I want to know what the rest of it looks like under the cast.

Very depressing as I want to work out but of course my gym won't allow me to step foot in the door. They will pause my membership but I don't go back to the doctor for 2 more weeks.

Haven't been motivate... Wed, 16 Feb 2011 13:17:21 EST Sabotage.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4001598 I actually expected it to happen at some point. But not this way, maybe something less serious to derail my progress. Murphy should be shot for creating that law....

I've gotten to within 20 pounds of my goal. Joined a gym 3 weeks ago, met with a personal trainer last Tuesday to discuss how my doing, where I'm going and how, etc. I joined Anytime Fitness and during my meeting with Debra (personal trainer) met David from the A&E show Heavy. I've been watching it for motivation... Tue, 8 Feb 2011 16:10:01 EST Wishing for warmer weather http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3956300 Hope everyone is surviving this "wonderful" winter weather.

I really want to get back into walking at work again. The cold weather has completely stopped my exercise plans for the last couple of months. No tennis, walking or pilates (but this is because of being sick and the holidays).

Started pilates on Saturday, now I am so sore it's like starting over. I did get a deal on a gym membership but it's only for 1 location the first 2 months and in a location I onl... Mon, 24 Jan 2011 13:34:38 EST My baby is 17 today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3856326 Can't believe she's 17! I love the person she has become but I miss the child that could cuddle with me - she's too tall now. I'm her "mini-me".

She's a wonderful kid because, as I've told her, "I like you". Mom's know there is a difference between loving your child and liking them.

I've managed to lose weight during this holiday season, not really sure how but definitely not complaining. The plan for after New Years is to really get back into walking again. The wea... Tue, 21 Dec 2010 17:51:13 EST Ready for this "cold" to be over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3836307 Still have the "gift" I received at Thanksgiving - a cold. Two weeks later I'm still coughing and tired, at least it hasn't worked it's way into pneumonia like my boss. Fingers are crossed that it stays that way!

My weight is steady at 35 pounds lost. Unfortunately with the cold and bad weather, my exercise routine has been stopped. I still managed to "play" tennis last Sunday for about an hour but that's pretty much it. I'm planning to take my pilates class tomorrow but the w... But on the good side, I'm actually down 2 pounds for the week. I was really expecting something awful.

We had non-traditional Thanksgiving with my family, breaded tenderloin sandwiches with twice baked potatoes. And, of course, dessert. Then there was the wine and pasta the night before.

My daughter was not happy about not getting the usual - turkey, dres... Mon, 29 Nov 2010 10:53:36 EST OMG! I found motivation again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3764448 I've always had a problem with triglycerides, no matter what weight I was. At one point they were in the 900's - when they should be below 150. I was put on several medication but none worked, until the last one and it was really expensive (even with insurance).

Because of cost and I hate having to take meds, I stopped taking it. I know, bad idea, but my number had gotten below 150 and I was eating better....

Didn't work, my blood work from about a year ago had the nu... Fri, 5 Nov 2010 15:11:03 EST It's Official! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3756504 The Wall..... one of the most dreaded things to encounter in life. Can cause panic, depression, several emotions at the same time and binge eating.

What to do????

Reduce calorie intake? NO, already eating at the minimum.

Binge for a couple days? Tempting, but no. Guilt would set in and make it difficult to get back on track.

Up the walking? Possibly, exercise makes me feel good. Problem is when and where, so I don't encounter dogs, rain, etc... I've been bouncing around the same 2 - 3 pounds for about a week now. I know it will move again but it's frustrating.

Four years ago I was at this same weight - approximately 166 - after dropping about 30 pounds (like I have this time around). I'm sure my head will be stuffy after today. We are moving people around at work and the dust will be sure to stop me up.

Tennis was good yesterday, still have aim issues. We hit that ball all over the place... ok, we actually have 7 of them so we don't have to stop and get the one that went out of the court right away.

Made my own version of Gyros last week. OMG, they were wonderful. Definitely making them again. Mon, 18 Oct 2010 13:10:53 EST Thank you influenza http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3702212 Well, I managed to expose co-workers this week. Why is it that we can tell when our kids are sick and not us??

I blamed allergies for the sinus headache, queasy stomach, loss of appetite and energy - losing weight for being cold when a cold front moved into the area. But never realized that the chills were a fever. Fought it for about 5 days - still exercising and eating right 3 of those days - before giving up.

Once the fever broke, my brain cleared and I realized it... Yes, I was stuck for about a week but this morning the scales moved again....and the right direction! I have lost 25 pounds and am now 43.8% to my weight loss goal. 334

My next mini-goal is 40 pounds. I'm hoping to make it before Thanksgiving, but we will see.

Exercise is fun now. Well, there are days I just don't want to get up and going - but I do it anyway. I feel much better once I begin pilates or tennis or just walki... Mon, 27 Sep 2010 11:33:50 EST Haven't hit that wall yet...... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3643927 I'm sure it will be soon. I've never dieted this long before finding it, but then I've never tried to diet this way before either.

Second pilates class was great and I was sore only 2 days this time!
