I have had a great weekend. We had our end of the year girl scout picnic. It was supposed to last an hour or two. It lasted . We had so much fun. The lady from DCNR was interesting and informative for the adults while my crazy hubby wandered around picking up rocks and finding bug and snakes to show the girls. We were hiking for 2. hours. Then we had a picnic. I brought a huge platter of fruit, carrots, ranch dressing and hot dogs, and bottled water. I tried to keep t... Mon, 4 Jun 2012 09:04:14 EST Eating Semiraw (Day 2) and other updates http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4900835 We had a wonderful time at the Unitarian Church yesterday. While it definitely wasn't traditional it was fun and my girls enjoyed the sports day they had for kids. We arrived late so I stayed outside with the girls. We then left got a quick lunch at Sheetz. (Those chili dogs definitely weren't eating raw...oh well I am human and I am trying my best I'll try and do better today since we have nothing planned today.) We then decided it was way too nice a day to spend inside so we called a... Mon, 28 May 2012 08:34:06 EST Eating Raw Experiment (Day 1) and other updates http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4898688 As part of my plan to get healthier and put better foods in my body I am going to try and eat 50-75% of my meals raw for one week. If I feel better after that week I will continue and possibly up the raw foods and slowly remove the other foods. So far today, I have been successful. I had a green smoothe and yogurt for breakfast. For lunch I am having raw oatmeal with 1 cup of raspberries and agave nectar. Not sure what will be for my snacks/ dinner as I am going to let my body tell ... Sat, 26 May 2012 10:29:41 EST TGIF and busy weekend ahead http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4896980 It has been a very long work week for me. I can't wait for a real weekend. I still have to work tonight but at least I will get a full 2 days off this weekend instead of the 1 day. We have a very busy weekend coming up. We are going to do a fullblown house cleaning/turning the house inside out tomorrow and Saturday. On Sunday, we are going to "church" . It is the local Unitarian Universalist Church. ( Apparently, the pastor is an atheist...not really sure how that works but I stil... Fri, 25 May 2012 00:44:36 EST Week 5 zombie apocalypse challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4893925 As team leader I will continue to post the challenges. I hope that the rest of the team is enjoying the challenges that I have posted for the past 2 weeks. This weeks challenge has been interesting for me. I still can't quite do the agility due to an injury but I have been doing my best to do the rest of the challenge. I added more steps (stairs up) this week as we decided that these challenges were to get progressively more difficult. I also added more sets of planks, crunches, and pu... Wed, 23 May 2012 00:45:02 EST This weeks zomb apocalypse challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4883515 I am loving the roundhous kicks...(gotta be careful of my sore foot..not sure if I will get all of them in :/). <BR> I tried a few box jumps and that made my poor foot ache..gonna have to skip those this week. (Thinks we need to have alt agility for those who may have an injury). <BR> Walked a mile so far this week. Normally would be on mile 3 or 4 by now...gonna try and go swimming so that my foot doesn't ache so much tomorrow or over the weekend. <BR> Tomorrow is pushup/crunch day fo... Wed, 16 May 2012 01:05:48 EST This week brings a new challenge for me. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4881150 I am extremely nervous about being a team leader. One of my favorite new teams lost our leader last week. We are still not sure what happened. I decided to step up and take over. I hope that I do a good job and that everyone enjoys the challenges I set up. Well off to see if I can get my house in order my sister is coming over tomorrow. Mon, 14 May 2012 15:29:38 EST Doing okay this week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4868926 I feel like I slacked off this week. I didn't get to go to the gym as much as I would have liked and with the hectic schedule this weekend I didn't get to work out as much as I would have liked to. I don't think I am gonna get my 5 miles in this week. I will just have to try harder next week or the zombies might catch me. I will definitely try and work out later today. Might have to be as I clean my messy house and do laundry cause I need to do that too. Sun, 6 May 2012 13:27:06 EST Wow I won a trophy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4859851 Thank you zombie apocalypse challenge team. I am really loving the challenges. They are fun, and they make me want to get up and move. With these challenges, I just might win my BL challenge at work. I hope so cause I really want that kindle. Well off to relax for a bit after all those kickouts my legs and abs are sore need to veg for a bit and then go clean some of my house... that needs to be one of my goals for later on this month. Clean 1 room a day and then keep them clean... not a... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 18:46:43 EST Oh no zombies. Do your cardio! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4850169 Today's cardio 25 minutes on the elliptical trainer reaching 2 miles....not bad for my first time on an elliptical ever. Also finished the ski hops for the challenge, and did 30 of the 100 required crunches. Added bonus, I weighed myself today and I am officially down 10.2 pounds as of today. Wohoo. Tue, 24 Apr 2012 15:47:52 EST First day at the gym. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4848429 I had a great first day at the gym. I did 1.1miles on the treadmill and then 4.59 miles on the stationary bike. Then I did a little bit of ST on the weight machines. I was tired but it was fun. What I learned today was that your legs will feel wobbly when you get off the treadmill. It feels like you are still on in for a few minutes after you get off. What a weird sensation. I met a nice lady who talked to me as we finished up on the stationary bikes. The weight room was full of m... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 15:46:28 EST The journey http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4835752 As I was hiking yesterday I was thinking about the blog I read the other day and it said not to look up to look bu to look straight ahead. I did for a few seconds and then I looked up and what did I see at the top of that steep hill? My 2 beautiful, strong, healthy children. While I was looking down they had run with abandon up that hill. So instead of looking up or forward I decided look all around and I saw the rocks at my feet, the wind in the trees, my children laughing and skipping,... Sun, 15 Apr 2012 09:23:20 EST What we saw yesterday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4835743 Some of the wonderful things we saw yesterday Sun, 15 Apr 2012 09:14:13 EST Tired and sore today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4833848 I think I need a rest day. Only gonna walk today cause I ache from doing lots more cardio than I track. I work standing up and last night while I was doing the testing I was required to do. I did squats and lunges, and then I marched in place for hours. I came home and got was really just a nap. Then I got up did the dishes, when grocery shopping, took my youngest for her last 4 shots :(. Then I had a girl scout meeting and frankly on 4 hours of sleep I am just worn out. Gonna watch a ... Fri, 13 Apr 2012 18:48:28 EST The foam roller and using it today. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4830261 Four words ouch, ouch, ouch, and nausea. What does this tell me.... well for one I have put off having my massage for much too long and secondly, I absolutely have to have my 8+ glasses of water today. Why you ask? Well when you massage knots out or have someone else massage them out you release toxins into your body and you need to make sure you flush them out with lots of water. Even though it really hurt when I used it, the foam roller is one of the best things I have gotten for myself... Wed, 11 Apr 2012 12:07:33 EST Biggest loser competition at work. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4826755 Doing pretty good so far. According to their scale I have lost 5 pounds since we started. Mon, 9 Apr 2012 10:12:37 EST What an awesome weekend with my husband http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4824827 We went to a late movie last night and then this morning as a surprise he got me up at 4 am to drive over to the PA grand canyon to see the sunrise. It was cold but the view was spectacular. Can not wait to see what we are going to do to top that. We then took a 1 mile hike which took us an hour... hubby was having some troubles due to the outside temperature. I am so proud of him he told me he wants to start exercising every day. Making myself see this a a journey of 2 pounds has really worked. Finding out that I really love my homemade smoothies has helped too. I am so excited that another 2 pounds came off this week. I also finally talked my hubby into joining me in this journey. We can now encourage and help each other. I can't wait to see what we will look like as a healthy and happy couple. Well time to log o... I should never have agreed to go to my mother-in-laws house on Saturday and then stay. It was not a healthy or productive trip for me. If I had stayed home I would have continued my working towards my couch to 5k. While I was at her house we ate crap. She tries to help but the calorie laden full fat foods she serves are NOT healthy at all. I didn't track my foods while I was there. I didn't want to really see what she w... So starting today, I will eat 5 fruits and veggies a day, I will drive my 8+ glasses of water, and I will exercise 10 minutes a day for at least 3 days for the next 7 days. I did walk part of the way because there was so much traffic I just needed to get off the road and out of the way. I made it home from work in 1 hour. Go me. I did enjoy most of the ride. I saw the chicory in bloom. I even enjoyed the wind wiping through my hair and in my ears. Overall it was a good experience. Now we are relaxing and enjoying some down time before I have to leave for work and hubby has to put the kids to bed. Hiking always makes me want to do more. I always wan...
