Sun, 7 Sep 2014 22:09:11 EST Money well spent. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5767003 I bought a couple of inexpensive ($50) sports cameras for my trike. One front, one back, and I hope I never need them. But the sad truth is, if there is an accident between a cyclist and a motorist, the police will believe the word of the motorist unless if (1) it is obvious that the cyclist is not at fault, (2) there are witnesses supporting the cyclist, or (3) a video shows what happened. They express concern for my safety. "Lot of crazy drivers out there."

But my philosophy is this: no one WANTS to kill a cyclist. Ok. There are people out there who make sport of harassing cyclists. And some drivers are inattentive and may have an accident with a cyclist.

But I don't feel the least bit unsafe out there. "How can we celebrate someone's birthday on a day that's not his birthday?" My dad would respond that Washington really didn't care because he wasn't in a real birthday party mood being dead for 172 years and all.

No, what Dad thought they should have d... Tue, 27 May 2014 00:27:57 EST MCVET 5k and 10k http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5703177 Last year I skipped the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training (MCVET) races. Last year I was in Boulder CO for Memorial Day and I ran the Bolder Boulder 10k. So Skipping is not quite the right word.

The first year I did it, I found out that some runners, about 25, ran both races. If you paid for one you could run both. The 5k started at 7:00 and the 10k at 8:00. And they don't start the 10k until the last runner from the 5k is in.

So second year, I ran bot... Mon, 26 May 2014 00:14:42 EST My day yesterday. (Today was quite boring) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5700306 The surgery went very well yesterday. She(WMBO) was really out of it but today she was back in form. I heard her on the phone talking to work about work. This evening on her way to bed she stopped in the kitchen to loudly complain about dishes in the sink. That the dishwasher was already running meant nothing to her. I hollered at her to just stop, I would take care of it all before I went to bed (as I always do). "The light is on in the cellar. Why did you leave the lights on in the cellar."... Wed, 21 May 2014 21:55:47 EST "Facts" -- They Ain't Necessarily So. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5697998 I did StumbleUpon this site that purports to tell us some "facts" that can be found on the internet.

users.ipfw.edu/diclemej/Learnsomethi
ngneweveryday.htm/

I found at least three that I knew right off the bat were wrong. I was informed today that the pain in Her leg/knee has reached a point that my presence is required this weekend. I expect it will be a Princess Bride weekend ..... Sat, 17 May 2014 00:08:16 EST Observations from my trike. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5696075 I ran all my errands today on my trike. I was only able to do that because I went to the supermarket yesterday.
----------

Couple of weeks ago, She(WMBO) had had her surgery (knee) scheduled for tomorrow. That cancelled my trip to Vermont and New Jersey. Then last week the anesthesiologist (I spelled that correctly on the first try!) said he didn't like her heart issues and wants to do the surgery at the hospital, not outpatient clinic. (One of my children sent a picture of th... Fri, 16 May 2014 01:27:05 EST The most bizarre organic product on the market http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5695354 I think I have a handle on why people will choose organic.

They believe that organic is better for you. Thu, 15 May 2014 01:02:33 EST Stock photos of models running(?) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5694498 Recent articles about the photoshopping of models into something that was unrealistic ideals led me to pay attention to pictures in magazines more. Even running magazines use models a lot of times instead of actual, you know, runners. (Even Sparkpeople uses stock photos of models instead of real people ... a lot!) So I went on a search of ridiculous running models.

So, why are... Tue, 13 May 2014 22:51:27 EST Mother's day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5692953 Mother's Day today. Today was a day where She(WMBO) got to do (or not)whatever she wanted to.

And that would be different from all the other days ... how?

I kid.

I also try to get up to Mom's house to visit on Mother's Day, but ever since her strokes, she can be easily overwhelmed and confused if too much is outside the scope of her routine. The last time I went up to visit her I did not call ahead, just dropped in and I think I blew up her entire day. And w... Sun, 11 May 2014 23:26:27 EST Maryland Half Marathon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5692308 The Maryland Half Marathon was today. This is the race I started my long distance running with. You never forget your first. If I had gauged all half marathons and greater by this race, I probably would never have run another.

<img src="https://scontent-a-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1.0-9/q77/s720x720/10325426_10203683875605865_7255525034764742758_n.jpg"width-"500">

It's a well organized race, to be sure.
