Around Aug. 2014 I had an issue with my left eye. It was misdiagnosed twice as simple pink eye. After the 3rd occurrence I was referred to an Ophthalmologist and it turned out to be Uveitis (which is inflammation in the eye). Then I was told that having Uveitits sometimes is a sign of an Autoimmune disease like Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis.

So I went thru treatments trying to fix the ... Fri, 1 Jan 2016 12:39:06 EST Over 2 years of Maintenance YEAH!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5710455 Well Sparkpeeps I have been in maintenance for over 2 years now and it feels WONDERFUL. I have learned so much about this process and about me. But one of the biggest lessons I've learned is NOT TO BEAT MYSELF UP when I mess up.

A couple of weeks ago I went on a road trip and I am not good with long road trips. If I am not driving then it is hard for me to sleep and after seeing miles and miles of freeways, cows and vegetation I am extremely BORED. With boredom I start eating. ... Wed, 4 Jun 2014 10:54:45 EST The Scale is a LIAR http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5704508 Hey Sparkpeeps I know in this journey you've probably heard how the scale does not tell the whole story about weight loss. Well I'm here to say it not only does not tell the whole story but sometimes it could be a BIG FAT LIAR. In my last blog I stated how I had gained about 10 pounds and I wasn't happy about it at first not because I was uncomfortable with that weight nor did I think I looked bad at that weight but with the extra 10 pounds I'm considered overweight on the BMI chart. Well ... Tue, 27 May 2014 15:48:15 EST Time to Change the Focus http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5614092 Hey Sparkpeeps - I know its been awhile since I've blogged but there was a few things on my mind I wanted to share with you.

I believe in one of my blogs I shared how I had surpassed my goal weight of 155lb and then I was at a weight range of 139 - 143. I have sinced gained about 10lbs and am now between 148 - 152. When I initially gained the 10lbs I worked hard to get it back down only to gain it back and I went back and forward with these 10lbs for awhile. And the crazy part ... Mon, 3 Feb 2014 13:57:00 EST Been Struggling but I'm Still Here http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5072933 Hey SPARKPEEPS

I know its been awhile since you've heard from me but I'm still here. The end of July and August I have faced probably the worst personal struggles I have ever experienced in my life so far and even though things have gotten better, its still not good YET but I am trusting, believing and "EXPECTING THE GREAT" (for all you gospel music listeners you know that song well).

As far as my healthy living, I've struggled there too. Although I have kept up my wor... Mon, 24 Sep 2012 12:34:35 EST When I just didn't feel like it - I did it anyway, THANKS SPARKPEEPS!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5010700 This past week has been a struggle for me. There's a lot of stuff going on some good some bad but I'm a person that plans and schedules so when there is too much STUFF thrown into my agenda I get a little agitated. What makes matters worse is I already don't sleep enough and with everything going on I sleep even less because my mind just keeps going.

Well needless to say I did not want to work out - me "Workout Hitler" as my sister and niece calls me just wasn't feeling it. I di... Sat, 11 Aug 2012 09:36:34 EST Week 10, 11 and 12 maintenance and mini-goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5000014 Maintenance has been wonderful so far. The more I do this the more I know I can do this forever. Even those days when I splurge, I still look at nutrition and access whether to eat it.

I am happy to say I am under 140 lbs. My initial goal weight was 155 then I changed it to 150 but now that I am 139 I think I want to get down to 135. The reason is that even though I am a solid size 4, the BMI chart still considers me overweight if I weigh more than 136 (can you believe that). ... Fri, 3 Aug 2012 20:52:15 EST Week 7, 8 and 9 - Maintenance (with pics) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4968949 I hadn't updated on how my maintenance was going since week 6 - so here we go.

Week 7 - I was riding high as that was the week of my Sparkversary and was feeling great about my progress. Eating went well and so did fitness and I even lost 2 lbs. I know I'm not suppose to be losing weight in maintenance but I still haven't been able to get up to the calories I'm suppose to be eating in maintenance yet.

Week 8 - What a difference a week makes. My sister and I traveled t... Fri, 13 Jul 2012 15:43:46 EST It's my SparkVersary (YAY!!!) - time for reflection http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4946756 I have been trying to decide what I wanted to talk about for my 1st Sparkversary. So I decided to start from the beginning so here we go. ***This blog is long – don’t say I didn’t warn you.

This is actually my 3rd journey. About 15 years ago I woke up one day and I weighed in at 275lbs and wearing a size 24W (yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it wasn’t overnight but it felt like it just came on like a flood). My mother invited me to a women’s spa and retreat weekend so I went. Now my ... Thu, 28 Jun 2012 19:44:37 EST Week 6 - Maintenance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4937973 Well it is week 6 and all is still going well. 334

Had my 6 week PT/INR today. For those of you that don't know I have Protein S Deficiency and without getting to technical it means I am at very high risk of developing blood clots. Because of this I have to take blood thinners and that's the reason for the 6 week PT/INR (its a test to see how thin my blood is).

My therapeutic range for the PT/INR should be 3.0 - 4.0. Since I started this weight loss journe... Fri, 22 Jun 2012 16:54:39 EST Week 5 - Maintenance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4927900 YEAH it is week 5 and I have finally come to the realization that I can do this thing. This is my lifestyle and there is nothing that will change that. Even on my splurge days I might have some junk but for the most part I make decent food choices - WOOHOO!!!!!

I think there was some confusion when I talked about my calorie struggles so I decided in this blog to put in the numbers. I am suppose to be eating 1910 - 2260. But even though I have increased my calories by 150 since ... Fri, 15 Jun 2012 14:34:59 EST Week 4 - Maintenance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4917892 What a difference a week makes. Last week I ate a lot of junk the first 3 days but this week I was very disciplined with my eating. I was so proud of myself last night because my niece ordered pizza and I wanted a slice so bad but decided I'd wait til tonight (which is a splurge day) to have a slice.

Still have not been able to eat my maintenance calories yet as a matter of fact this week was probably the lowest calorie week. Other weeks even though there were days I was about 3... Fri, 8 Jun 2012 14:55:31 EST Week 3 - Maintenance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4907553 All I can say is junk, junk and more junk. Between Saturday and Monday I was so busy that I was definitely out of my routine. Needless to say I had to eat on the run and I didn't make the best food decisions. But I still have yet to eat the calories I'm suppose to eat in maintenance and I managed to eat more than 5 servings of fruit and veggies and I drunk my water. But by eating that much junk I did go over my sodium and I definitely felt it as my body tends to retain water when I have t... Fri, 1 Jun 2012 14:11:44 EST Week 2 - Maintenance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4897858 Well its week 2 and all is still well. So last week I increased my calories by about 100 calories which put me still more than 300 calories less than what I should be eating in maintenance. Well this week I setup my food tracker for the day of what I would be eating and when it came to some of the meals, I couldn't eat any or all that I had listed so I ending up about 4 days this week more than 400 calories less than what I should be eating. Needless to say I lost weight.

Anyway... Fri, 25 May 2012 16:03:44 EST Week 1 - Maintenance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4887562 So I decided since I did a blog every now and then while I was losing weight, that I would blog every week during maintenance. So here we go......

Week one went well - I didn't do anything differently except add 100 more calories than what I have been eating. But that is still about 300 calories lower than the calories SP says I should be eating in maintenance mode. But I think I'll do the calories I'm eating now for a couple of weeks and then gradually increase by 50 or 100 unt... Fri, 18 May 2012 16:45:40 EST I've Got Confidence http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4877353 I usually work from home but had to go into the office for a 2 day seminar for all Team Leads and Managers - since I'm a team lead, had to be there. The seminar turned out better than I thought and I had to do some presentations. Surprisingly I had confidence to do the presentations without hesitation. I usually have a hard time doing presentation in front of people when I don't know too much about the topic. The topics on the first day were selected by the instructor and I didn't know mu... Fri, 11 May 2012 16:46:52 EST Start Celebrating How Far You've Come http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4872721 I am not just myself's worst critical, I am myself's awful critic. Even though I look in the mirror and do double takes not believing its me, I always manage to see something that I think I need to change and my happy mood changes to frustration.

About a month ago, I went shopping and brought some size 4 shorts, jeans and skirts and a couple of XS tank tops and when I got home all I kept saying was how awful I thought my abs and arms looked. Not celebrating the fact that I've nev... Tue, 8 May 2012 17:28:34 EST Woohoo finally under 150 lbs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4833653 I have been stuck between 151 and 153 for about 5 weeks and finally under 150 lbs.

Before pic - during Spring Break last year (4/7/11) in Tybee Island - about 210lbs.

After pics - today 4/13/12 right before my workout - 149lbs.

<img src="http://photos... Fri, 13 Apr 2012 15:36:45 EST Non-scale Victories http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4807911 For the past few weeks I have been trying to lose that last 6 pounds (1 pound from my first goal and 5 pounds for my last and final goal). But it just won't seem to budge. At first I was a little frustrated but my size 7 skirt I blogged about on 2/4/12 is loose and when I went shopping last week to buy some much needed fitted clothes, I got size 4s, 5s and 6s and to my surprise several people have actually told me to stop losing weight that I am getting too thin (me too thin, I didn't thin... Tue, 27 Mar 2012 19:55:38 EST Vitamin K Rears its Ugly Head http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4792656 I have a genetic protein deficiency called Protein S Deficiency which puts me at an increase risk of blood clots. Because of this I have to take blood thinners and the enemy to blood thinners is Vitamin K. For those that know about Vitamin K know that it is found in a lot of foods but it is extremely high in green leafy veggies.

I love my veggies and wouldn't you know I love the green leafy veggies the most.
Before the weight loss journey my PT/INR (which tells how thin my... Sat, 17 Mar 2012 22:08:16 EST ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE, Eliminate the negative http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4778734 Last night I had a restless night, not that I didn’t sleep but I tossed and turned and usually when that happens it’s because something is bothering me. So, I cycled thru my day to pinpoint when I became bothered and I finally got my answer. Last night I was reading a blog from one of my “Sparkpeeps” and the blog talked about how someone she cared for made negative comments about her. The blog itself bothered me that someone could be so hurtful but what really bothered me was a comment on ... Fri, 9 Mar 2012 08:47:12 EST OMG!!!! I can wear what size now??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4722286 I was trying to hold out going clothing shopping until I got to my goal weight. But since that is now only about 7lbs away and I am in desperate need of clothes that fit right now, I thought I'd get a skirt for church tomorrow and a pair of jeans. I wasn't sure what size to get but I looked at the 9s and thought this should fit. But my niece urged me to get the 7s also. So I went into the dressing room and at the urging again of my niece, I tried on the 7s first and OMG not only did they... Sat, 4 Feb 2012 17:41:11 EST Just say NO to Applebees http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4712889 One day a week me, my sister and niece have a girls time and we hang out and we dine out. So Sunday we decided we would go to Applebees. My normal routine if I go out to eat is get the nutritional facts and then determine what I will eat before I get there. So I saw there 550 and under menu and decided on the Weight Watchers Chipotle Lime Chicken with 490 calories and 12 grams of fat I thought ok I am all set.

So I order that and a side salad with light Italian dressing. But as... Mon, 30 Jan 2012 18:41:46 EST WooHoo - Said goodbye to my obese BMI http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4662246 Had my weekly weigh-in today and I have finally moved out of the obese category - BMI today 29.9. Have a little more to go but thanking GOD for this victory, milestone and goal achieved. Also want to thank my Sparkfriends for the encouragement, motivational blogs, sharing your successes and frustrations. 252 Fri, 6 Jan 2012 15:00:17 EST When Eating Veggies is NOT good for you.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4590491 I know you are reading this title thinking what is she talking about. Everything we've heard about veggies are good.

Well don't get me wrong I am not against veggies on the contrary I LOVE them. I eat my 5 or more servings of fruit/veggies per day with most of the time 4 or more of those servings are veggies (not a fruit lover). Ironically where other people crave chocolate I crave veggies (not a chocolate lover either). I especially love green veggies: greens (mustard, turnip ... Fri, 18 Nov 2011 18:59:13 EST
