I gained a lot when I was back in my hometown for a couple weeks, and then the subsequent time I've been home because of emotional eating aspects and lack of sticking to exercise. Once habits are broken, they are so hard to re-establish. Anyway. I a... Fri, 14 Mar 2014 11:38:22 EST Not as bad as I feared. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5617635 Welp, I am up 2.4 pounds since I last weighed in on December 19. BUT, I've had interesting measurement changes. Lost a half an inch from my hips, lost a half an inch from my waist. I GAINED a half an inch on my thigh, and a half an inch on my calf.....BUT I've been doing strength training again. So I'm surmising that I've actually been pretty close to maintaining this whole time, and the gain that I've had is negligible considering the strength training, and the positive change in measurement... Fri, 7 Feb 2014 08:55:12 EST Weigh-In Day: Finally under 150!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5568659 It's been a while since I've posted an update. My weight has been stable over the past few months. Slight ups and down, with an overall slow trend down. Today's weigh-in was note-worthy though!

Today's weigh-in showed a loss of 0.6 pounds, making a total of 85.4 pounds released since 3/1/12, and 120.4 pounds GONE from my highest recorded weight.

Today's weigh-in FINALLY puts my weight below 150 pounds, and also puts it in the "normal" BMI range for probably the first tim... Fri, 20 Dec 2013 11:34:05 EST Weigh-In Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5523039 Woo! Weigh-in day shows I am down 2.2 pounds from my previous weight, after having no change for the past couple weeks. This means I have released 83.4 pounds since 3/1/12, and a total of 118.4 pounds GONE from my highest recorded weight. I am 6.6 pounds from my tentative goal. And at the rate I've been going, it might be a while before I hit that, but I'll get there. I'm just pleased there was a loss this week!

521 Fri, 25 Oct 2013 09:40:14 EST Weigh-In and Measurements Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5504280 Weigh-in day. 1.6 pounds down from last week, making me under 155 pounds now. Total released since 3/1/12: 81.2 pounds. That makes 116.2 pounds GONE from my highest recorded weight.

A few measurements this month went down; a half inch each from my waist, my hips, the area above my navel, and my upper arm. Still working, but patience is not my strong point. I am 8.8 pounds from my "goal weight", but that might change up or down depending.

But yay, good week for fitness ... Fri, 4 Oct 2013 10:23:30 EST Finally, a weigh-in worth sharing. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5477720 I'd been at a damned plateau for 11 weeks. Stayed within a 2 pound range. Yes, I've been strength training, muscle weighs more than fat, blah blah...but it's still frustrating!

However, weigh-in today showed I have shed 2.4 pounds this week, after being at that plateau for 11 weeks! May this plateau stay BUSTED! So, looks like the slightly higher calorie intake, and higher water intake (calories adjusted for the more intense workouts I do now) might have done the trick. This will r... Fri, 6 Sep 2013 11:32:01 EST Statement of Accountability http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5422125 My statement of accountability for this past weekend: I blew my diet big time. I expected I would, as it was my future brother-in-law's wedding and a time for celebration. But I went way over on food. Over-splurged, if you will. I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed the weekend, but I need to be accountable for stepping way outside my bounds. (Though, I did get time on the elliptical in the hotel's fitness center on Saturday at least!) I'm back in the saddle today, and hopefully can stay there rather t... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 17:03:16 EST Perspective http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5418686 I haven't made an entry in a while, even though there has been changes in weight and such. Just been so busy with medical issues I haven't focused on blogging.

Trying, though, to keep things in perspective since I seem to be at another damn plateau.

When I started this journey last March, I was wearing size 22 pants, and they were tight. I was wearing 3x, sometimes 4x shirts. Today, I am wearing anywhere from size 4 to size 8 pants (depending on fit, damn women's clothi... Fri, 12 Jul 2013 09:14:33 EST Weigh-In Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5380476 Wow, been a long time since I've posted. Very busy time musically, and I've been having trouble with my new MS medication, so I've been lax on posting regularly. But today's worth posting about.

WOOHOO! I almost can't believe it, but:

Today's weigh-in showed a loss of 0.8 lb, for a total of 75 pounds released since 3/1/12, and allowing me to hit my goal of hitting 160 pounds on today's date! Despite the couple of weeks I had set-backs supposedly from the new medication a... Thu, 6 Jun 2013 15:03:03 EST Thoughts on being in ONEderland (254 days now!) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5328834 I can't believe how long I've been in ONEderland now. I hit it on August 9 of last year, and I haven't gone back above 200 since. Another friend of mine counts the number of days she's been in ONEderland. I haven't done that yet. But I just did, and it's been 254 days of being in ONEderland. It boggles my mind to think that hey, I'm actually doing this.

I have to catch myself not to start with a "two" when asked my weight at the doctor's office (if they don't have a scale themselv... Fri, 19 Apr 2013 15:08:28 EST Weigh-In Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5319885 Today's weigh-in showed a decrease of 2.2 pounds for a total of 68.2 pounds released since 3/1/12. I think my forced portion control experiment is working. I needed the reminder, because I think I was starting to slip on that. So I'm doing the Slim Fast 3-2-1 plan for a couple weeks to retrain myself. I think that this is a good lesson, too, for the difficulties I may experience once I reach maintenance phase. But, one step at a time....

I need new shorts.... 9 Thu, 11 Apr 2013 16:04:45 EST Re-Weigh-In http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5304202 So. Yesterday for weigh-in, I felt bloated and icky but did my weigh-in anyway. I felt different today and decided to get on the scale. I am so glad I did. Not counting yesterday's weigh-in, I have shed 2.6 pounds since March 14. 66.6 pounds released since 3/1/12.

However, the reason this makes me want to scream, jump up and down, cry, and any combination of above is because now, I have officially gotten rid of _100.6_ pounds since my highest recorded weight in 2005. Fri, 29 Mar 2013 10:47:18 EST One Year Sparkversary!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5268692 Today marks my one-year anniversary of embarking on a lifestyle change aimed at making me more healthy, and shed some pounds in the process. Woohoo!

I was on a scale vacation for February. I set a goal of getting rid of 3 pounds in February. Not too high, because I didn't want to be unrealistic, especially considering I'm doing more weight training now. For the month of February, I shed 3.2 pounds, so I met that goal. Yay!

Since March 1, 2012, I have released 63 pounds, ... Fri, 1 Mar 2013 14:33:36 EST Wow, how time flies.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5267352 Tomorrow marks my one-year Sparkversary of starting my healthy lifestyle journey. It's amazing to look back over the past year. All of the successes, all of the learning experiences, all of the emotional ups and downs...what a journey it's been so far. Thank you all for being a part of it! I owe part of my successes to you!

247 252 Thu, 28 Feb 2013 14:23:39 EST Weigh-in (or not) and Measurement Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5241458 I did my measurements today (being the first metrics day of the month) and seeing as I've lost another 6.5" from last month (and had the NSV of fitting into size 10 jeans last week), decided that I am indeed going to take February off from weighing-in. In the closet the scale goes. See you March 1 for my one-year-new-lifestyle-journey anniversary! Which I'm doing but not really paying all that much attention to now. But today showed a loss of 1.2 pounds this week for a total of 59.8 pounds released since 3/1. So close to 60!

But the real win today was my NSV of fitting into (and buying) size 10 jeans. These were just from Target, who has 6 (I think?) "fits". Thu, 31 Jan 2013 17:12:28 EST New comparison pic http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5218851 My new before-and-current pic. I took this last night when I realized that most of my clothes that replaced clothes that replaced clothes were starting to get too big themselves, even though the scale's been pretty steady. So I brought out the jeans that were too tight before, and the shirt that was new but too tight. Here's the result, in comparison to me at my highest weight. Somewhere between 270-280 in the 2005 shot, and 179.8 in the one done last night.

Screw you, scale! :) <B... Tue, 22 Jan 2013 15:48:05 EST Weigh-In Day, Plateaus, and Cardiology Appointment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5211772 Today's weigh-in showed no change on the scale. Didn't move up, didn't move down. It almost moved, though, when I wanted to throw it out a window. It's good that the number didn't move up, but frustrating that it's not moving down. I think I can safely call this a plateau now. And I can't help but think it's because of doing the 30 Day Shred...because I was steadily losing weight until then. It's more likely just a coincidence, but argh.

I'm trying to focus on other things. I can f... Scale showed a loss of 0.4 pounds, which puts me back at the same "Under 180" number I was at four weeks ago. Hopefully it'll keep going down now. Total released since 3/1/12: back to 55.2 pounds bye-bye. Forward. (I really think the period from Christmas 'til just after New Year's killed my downward progress. But it's over, I'm back up on the horse, and away we go.)

381 Thu, 10 Jan 2013 15:35:54 EST Merry Christmas! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5175827 Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Since starting the 30 Day Shred:

-I have lost 4 pounds. (Weighing in today isn't normal but I did for the sake of recording changes for the 30DS. The gain I'd had over the past week has tapered back down. Still up a little from 2 weeks ago, but not even a half a pound. I'll let it pass.)
-I have lost 2" off my waist.
-I have lost 2.5" off my hips.
-I have lost 0.5" off my upper arms.

The program is hard. But it works. Usual... Never thought I could get through this, but I proved myself wrong. I will take final measurements tomorrow morning.

In Level 1, I thought I was gonna die for the first few days. But by the end, I was able to follow Natalie more than Anita, though I still had to make some modifications for my wrists, knees, and back.

In Level 2, which I thought was the most difficult of the levels for me, I followed Anita for most of it, but pu... Fri, 21 Dec 2012 13:23:26 EST Weigh-In Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5172387 Weigh-in day! And it sucked! Scale showed I was up over a pound. But considering what time of month it is, and knowing that my calorie intake hasn't really changed, I'm not going to worry about it. I am instead focusing on the pictures I posted yesterday as proof that what I am doing is still working. And I have gained a lot of muscle mass doing the 30 Day Shred. So I'll just keep on my path. And I think I might change weigh-ins to once a month. Thu, 20 Dec 2012 21:09:53 EST Weigh-In Day - Mid-Range Goal Met! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5165388 I hit my mid-range goal (180) on today's weigh-in! Woohoo!

I'm still going strong (as strong as possible anyway) with 30 Day Shred. I finished Day 4 of Level 3 today. This week is crazy schedule-wise, but I'm trying to keep doing it. I feel like I'm gonna die. :P Level 3 starts tomorrow. I'll do it *after* I get home from playing our orchestra concert tomorrow.... I doubt I'd be able to play the program we have afterwards! (Beethoven is not nice on second violins. Arms feel like they're going to fall off by the end. And that's only one of the pieces!) Sat, 8 Dec 2012 13:12:19 EST On Believing in Myself http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5158724 I've suffered from depression and anxiety since high school. I've been a big girl for as long as I can remember, and after my divorce in 2001, it got even worse. I hated how I looked, but for a brief time, had friends who taught me to love who I was regardless of my size. Then I got into a relationship with a man who told me many times quite bluntly that I was fat and he would never be attracted to me. And any uplift of my self-esteem I'd built deflated to what seems like an irreparable level... Thu, 6 Dec 2012 22:54:31 EST Weigh-in and Measurement Day, and SparkVersary http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5158260 I have now passed my 9-month SparkVersary!

518

Ignore the scale, Jamie. On weigh-in today, it showed I was "up" 0.2 lb., which as I know, is not a gain. And I'll most likely have a bigger drop next week. That's how it seems to be going now. It's more frustrating than a loss every week, but since I'm still on the downward trend, I have to relax. And focus. Total lost since March 1: 53.4 pounds.

I did my monthly measurements today. This was in compa... Sure, still sweatin' buckets and panting like crazy, but it's getting easier. I don't know if I'm doing crunches quite right though...I think there might be too much neck involved. Anyway, halfway through Level One. Then I'm sure I'll be in for a major shock as I start Level Two in 5 more days. But I'm pushing through!

386 Fri, 23 Nov 2012 12:14:32 EST Weigh-In Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5143374 "Up" 0.2 lb this week. I know that little "gains" like this aren't anything to worry about, especially because my calorie intake and exercise output have been pretty much the same. TOM coming, and starting 30 Day Shred may contribute, but I can't worry about it. There has only been one other time with a "gain" but the next week I lost close to 3 pounds. I looked into the mirror, and couldn't believe I was looking at myself. Yes, I got choked up. Yes, pictures will be coming at some point, but probably not today because my hair is a mess. Total since 6/05: 86.3 pounds.

My BMI is getting very very close to being in the "overweight" range, and not the "obese" range. I decided to try to focus on one or more Non-Scale Victories these weeks, instead. So for this week:

1. I saw my cardiologist yesterday. She said she was utterly amazed at my progress. She said they tell so many people they need to lose weight, and diet and exercise are the way to do it. Most don't bother. Some people do it, but don't last very long. I'm a rare case of someone who's actually changing her life and ... Thu, 18 Oct 2012 20:41:44 EST Weigh-In Day, Goals, and NSV http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5095646 Today's weigh-in showed a loss of 2.0 pounds. (Weird that the last three have been x.0!) This makes for a total of 46 pounds released since 3/1. As I've reached the numeric goal I'd set to hit last week, I've decided that the next four weeks will be sans weigh-in. I am setting a goal of shedding 4 pounds in the next four weeks, but I know that weight-based goals are fickle and not completely in our control. I will also not be taking measurements for November. I am 1 lb. short of the weight-based goal I set for this date...but I realize that those types of goals need to be flexible because they're not completely in our control...so I'm not worrying about it. I'll probably hit it next week. Then the scale is going away for four weeks. I'll set a general goal for that time period. Or maybe not. Not sure yet. Thu, 4 Oct 2012 15:26:35 EST Nice to hear.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5082287 Kinda nice: two of the trainers at the gym told me (independent of each other) that I'm looking great; they've noticed over the past few weeks in particular that I'm getting so much smaller. Also, one of the ladies that comes in for cardiac rehab told me today that I am her inspiration, because she sees me come in to the gym so often and push myself, and am getting results. Nice bits to hear for a push of encouragement. Mon, 1 Oct 2012 13:43:10 EST Weigh-In Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5077477 1.6 pounds somehow miraculously gone this week. Weight's been fickle this past month..but I've been having gut issues, too...darn IBS. Stuff's not, uh, moving well all the time. (TMI, sorry.) Anyway. 2 pounds needs to be gone by next week in order to meet my current mini-goal...but if I don't hit it, I don't hit it and I'm fine with that. Once I hit the numerical goal, I'm taking 4 weeks off the damn scale. So, 43.0 pounds released since 3/1. Thu, 27 Sep 2012 18:55:04 EST Weigh-In Day and NSV http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5068141 This week's weigh-in showed a loss of 0.6 pounds. As it's not a gain, I'm happy. Total released since 3/1: 41.4 pounds. I don't think I'm going to hit my goal of 10 pounds gone since my last goal hit, which I set for 10/4. But that's okay, too. It'll be soon. And I think I might do something different, just for a break: when I finally hit my next goal number, I might take four weeks off of weekly weigh-ins. Gimme a chance to focus on just trying to keep a good lifestyle going without worrying... Keep going, Jamie!

244 Thu, 13 Sep 2012 11:26:19 EST Weigh-in and Measurement Day - First Gain :/ http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5047363 Very frustrated. This week's weigh-in showed a gain of 0.4 lbs. In the 6 months since I started doing this, every week has showed a loss. This is the first week that's been different. I haven't done much differently. A day where my calorie intake was pretty high, but it still averaged out with the rest of the week fine. I've had to stop lower body and core strength training per my PT but I'm still doing all of my cardio and all of my upper body strength training. Last week was ovulation and I... Thu, 6 Sep 2012 16:32:30 EST 6-month SparkVersary! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5039904 516

6 months ago, I started a new lifestyle. And I am so glad I did. I've thrown away 38.6 pounds, reaching ONEderland for the first time in I don't even remember how long. I've shed 6 inches from my waist; 5 inches from my hips; 4 inches from my upper arm; 6 inches from my above-belly-button area; and with other areas I measure, a total of 28 inches gone. (Next week is my measurement week so it'll probably be more. I hope.) I have gone from a shirt size 3x to a L, pant ... Sat, 1 Sep 2012 11:16:19 EST Weigh-In Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5037407 Weigh-in today showed a loss of 0.2 pounds. Sigh. At least it was down and not up. Stupid hormones. Total released since 3/1: 38.6 pounds. Saturday marks my 6-month SparkVersary. I was hoping to be 40 pounds down by then, but sometimes, our body has other plans! Focus on the positive: I'm still moving in a downward direction. This entire 6 months, there has only been one week where my weight stayed the same. Every week other than that one, the result was a decrease in weight. And the number o... Woot! Total released since 3/1: 38.4 pounds.
244 Thu, 23 Aug 2012 12:41:55 EST Weigh-In Day - ONEderland!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5008485 Weigh-in day. Ladies and gentlemen, I am now in ONEderland! A place I haven't been since....I don't even remember when. I wanted to cry. Oh, I am SO CLOSE to ONEderland I can almost touch it. I think the scale might have been a little more kind if I hadn't had a pretty high level of sodium last night. But that's okay. Total released since 3/1: 33.4 pounds. Lesson 1: Don't automatically assume that just because you think you've had a bad week calorie-wise, that your change in weight will be bad; and 2) You've been shedding more weight in the weeks where calorie count has been higher. Perhaps it's time to re-evaluate caloric needs considering I'm busting my ass at the gym so much....

One of the reasons I'm busting my ass is be... Thu, 26 Jul 2012 22:15:12 EST
