Did my first one 2 weeks ago. It really kicked my butt. I've always done my speedwork on my treadmill, mainly because I didn't know where a track was near me. Found a group that meets at 5am on Tuesdays very close to home. I have to get used to my pace at the shorter distances, I find I go out too strong and get winded quickly. But I'm doing it and I'm excited about it because I know I'll get better!

I di... Tue, 9 Jul 2013 08:43:56 EST Race #20 for the year done and transitioning to Heavy Lifting for the Summer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5382661 I won a free entry to a local 5 Mile Race, so figured "Why not?". Since I had just ran Niagara Falls Half last Sunday, I wasn't going for an all out effort. But it ended up being not much of an effort at all. In Mile 2, my headphones kept falling out from all the sweat (was SO humid), then my beautiful necklace with my 13.1 & 26.2 charms fell off, so I had to stop to make sure I didn't lose anything. Did I mention it was really humid? On top of that, this race has been around a while but... Sat, 8 Jun 2013 17:35:02 EST Half Marathon #30 in the Books and it was SPECTACULAR!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5376714 I chose the Niagara Fall Wonen's Half Marathon for my 30th Half. I'd never been there before and ended up knowing about a dozen people there from my area! I took my Mom as a Mother's Day gift since she had never been there either.

This was by far, one of my top races EVER! We ran by the Falls twice and the entire race was along the Niagara River. Weather turned out awesome. I could have gone for a Personal Best but I had to stop many times along the course and take pictures! ... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 12:00:05 EST You can call me Coach Tia! :-) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5369777 Last weekend I spent it at the University of Central Florida, 2 1/2 days, 23 hours of class time and a test that took me almost 6 hours to take. All to become a USATF Level 1 Coach!!! USATF is the USA Track & Field organization. The class was intense and long but I learned so much! So now I will have some credentials to do what I've been doing for over 2 years. I plan to only coach virtually, since I'm always training or racing myself lol. But I'm excited about it!

Took this ... Mon, 27 May 2013 22:09:26 EST Missing my Half Marathons but keeping busy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5353517 It's been 3 weeks since my last Half Marathon and I have to wait 3 more weeks until my next one - oh no!!!

I've been keeping myself busy, did another Trail Race a couple weeks ago, it was a 10 Miler. I'm still learning the lingo of trail race descriptions, so I didn't realize it was called The Claw because you have to "scratch and claw" up vertical dirt hills, slide down them, wade through streams and rivers and with all that, enjoy the most beautiful scenery. It was officially... Sat, 11 May 2013 22:32:15 EST And One More Makes 29! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5329875 Today I ran the Lake Mineola Half Marathon as my 29th Half. It's been a crazy week with the Boston tragedy. I knew close to 20 people who were there and thankfully they're all okay. Such a shame, but I'm glad they've caught the culprits. Enjoyed seeing the running community come together in such incredible ways. At the race today, at least half of the participants wore blue and yellow for Boston Marathon colors and many had memorial bibs in addition to the race bib. We had a moment of s... Sat, 20 Apr 2013 17:29:23 EST Half Marathon #28 Done! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5322950 Ran the Iron Girl Half Marathon today, paced the 2:30 group. It started very humid but then we got a breeze/wind and fortunately it stayed overcast the entire race. Really enjoyed it and so happy to have been in a race again. Half Marathon #29 will be on Saturday at Lake Mineola near Orlando.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

Pic of me and my awesome pacing partner Jessica:

<BR... Sun, 14 Apr 2013 15:46:47 EST Having Race Withdrawals! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5314872 It's been 2 weeks since I've done a race, and I'm having withdrawals lol! I had gotten so used to doing a Half Marathon every weekend, it's weird not to. My last race weekend was 3/23 & 3/24, ran a 5k on Saturday and my first Trail race, a 15k, on Sunday.

Working on getting my speed back so I can do a decent time at the Niagara Falls Women's Half in June.

I actually took 2nd place in my Age Group in the 5k. It was a nice small race close to home.

The Tra... Sun, 7 Apr 2013 17:10:10 EST Still having fun! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5296023 Haven't blogged in a bit, but I'm still here, and having a blast!

Since the last blog I ran the Columbia, SC Half Marathon and the local Beach Halfathon. I really enjoyed Columbia, but it was super hilly. That was my first true hilly course. But it was special because my Grandmother lives there and she got to see me do a race. Then a couple weeks later, did a local half with my hubby. He's starting to do more races, yay!!!

This weekend I'll do a local 5k and a 15k... Fri, 22 Mar 2013 09:49:56 EST More Half Marathons and...out of Maintenance!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5262420 It's been over a month since I've blogged so wanted to catch up! Been super busy between work, training and racing! So will keep this as short as possible

1) Maintenance
After being in weight maintenance for over 3 years, I put on 12 lbs between Dec and Feb!!! Reason? Training and doing 3 marathons in a month took it's toll. I ate everything in sight!!! Keeping the high mileage for a prolonged period was tough and I was hungry all the time, so I ate, and ate, and not alw... Sun, 24 Feb 2013 18:34:57 EST Beyond Goofy...I'm a Marathon Maniac!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5217435 So...after completing the Disney Goofy Challenge last weekend, we went on our cruise and had a wonderful time! It was totally relaxing! Did no dancing, no shore excursions, just rested. It was perfect! Was sore most of the week, and trying to catch a cold which wasn't good.

Well yesterday, I completed the Clearwater Marathon, another 26.2 just a week after completing 39.3! Within the 3rd Mile, I was thinking "And just why I am I doing this again?" I felt okay and kept my pace... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 18:16:25 EST Another Challenge Conquered, I'm officially Goofy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5211892 The Disney Goofy Challenge is the Race and a Half where you do the Half Marathon Saturday, then the full marathon on Sunday. I've never done anything close to this! It hasn't even been a month since my last marathon and I hadn't run a marathon in alsmot 2 years before that!!! So I had no expectations, other than nightmares that I wouldn't finish! But I wanted that BLING!!!

Did a couple of training runs, a 16 and 18 miler to prepare for this race, but had a hamstring pull, so ha... Thu, 17 Jan 2013 17:45:22 EST Onto the next Challenge - Disney Goofy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5176867 So after I rested up from the marathon, I did a 4 mile run on Thursday of the next week and felt great! My next challenge is running the Disney Goofy Race & a Half Challenge the weekend of Jan. 12 & 13th. I'll run the Half on Saturday, then the full on Sunday! I'm super excited about doing this! I have a bunch of running friends doing Disney as their first marathon since it's the 20th anniversary of it, so I figured, I'll coast through the Half, then run with them on Sunday! So, the foll... Wed, 26 Dec 2012 16:33:21 EST 3rd Marathon in the Books! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5168368 JACKSONVILLE MARATHON RACE RECAP:
I went into this with no specific time goal, though I started somewhere behind the 3:45 Galloway group. I figured I at least had to start with an intent to do a 3:55 time (my Boston Marathon qualifying time) knowing the worst thing to happen was I wouldn't be able to keep up. I ran/walked behind them for about 8 miles, then it was just too much. Around Mile 10 I got a cramp in my right hamstring that lasted the rest of the race, sometimes really bad, so... Sun, 16 Dec 2012 19:14:09 EST Week 17 - The Week of my Marathon - It's Here! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5161307 My Marathon is next Sunday, December 16th in Jacksonville. Am I ready? Well I will be! What are my expectations? Not really sure. My coach recommended I go into the race without a time goal so I wouldn't stress, but I'm just not wired that way.

I found out they will have Galloway Pacers (run/walk), so depending on the Pace Times, I may run with one and see how I do. I feel okay about it all, just have to keep my emotions under control and not stress. Goal is to enjoy the rac... Sun, 9 Dec 2012 17:51:45 EST Week 16 of Marathon Training & my 4 Year "Aha!" Anniversary http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5154622 It's been an interesting week. Started out well, then as the week progressed, I supposed I came to realize I was running the biggest race of my life in 2 weeks and the anxiety symptoms started again. So I've been doing some "mind" exercises I've learned to help me. "It's just a race" I want to tell myself, but the answer is "But you want to qualify for Boston" and the battle continues. Anyway, I'm still moving on and working to keep everything in perspective. From a realistic point of vi... Mon, 3 Dec 2012 11:11:13 EST Week 15 of Marathon Training & my 20th Half Marathon! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5146909 Had a great week of training! On Wednesday, did 4 x 800's of speedwork and keep my speed around a 6:45 pace for each interval. Was very encouraged by this! My coach is having me do a run/walk method as I've been challenged with maintaining my stamina, so we'll see how that works for my long runs.

Yesterday I ran my 20th Half Marathon at Space Coast in Cocoa Beach, FL. To think that only 3 years ago this month I ran my very first Half, and didn't even run my second Half until a ... Mon, 26 Nov 2012 10:06:19 EST Week 14 of Marathon Training - 20 Mile Run!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5139747 Crazy week!

The folks from Competitor Group flew out for the Kick Off Party for Rock n Roll St. Pete and for the Women's Half Marathon (WHM) St. Pete Race, so I was busy with them. Kick Off Party went well, then the WHM Expo. While I was the Ambassador for Rock n Roll St. Pete this year, I really wasn't involved at the Expo. I had no idea how much work it was! Thursday was a lot of heavy lifting and setting up for merchandise displays for WHM. My booth was pretty simple to set... Sun, 18 Nov 2012 21:28:31 EST Week 13 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5132087 Challenging but good week!

Had a couple easy runs, an interval run and a 16 mile progressive run. Progressive meant that I was to start at a super easy pace and finish just under race pace. I was super tired but did it!

On Friday and Saturday, I worked the Disney Wine & Dine Expo at the Rock n Roll Marathon Series booth promoting St. Pete Rock n Roll in Feb. It was 20 hours on my feet over the two days and by the end of the day Saturday, I felt so arthritic. I wonder... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 22:41:28 EST Week 12 of Marathon Training UPDATE http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5125473 Not sure why I posted that blog on Saturday, when I normally do it on Sunday. Guess with all that happened last week, everything was off!

Just wanted to update about the Half Marathon on Sunday. I went into it with no real expecations and figured I'd see how I felt starting out. Started out strong, first mile around 8:15 and felt good...then all of a sudden...the 5k from the day before caught up to me...and my calves were SO tight I had to STOP and stretch them. I'd never exper... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 21:54:25 EST Week 12 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5122726 This was not the training week I would want, but made it through. Last week, I missed my first Half of the season due to my Stepfather being in serious condition at the hospital.

Here's how the week was SUPPOSED TO GO:
A couple of easy runs, a tempo and an interval run, end the week pacing the Savannah Rock n Roll Half Marathon today and 6 mile tempo tomorrow.

HERE'S HOW THE WEEK WENT:
Did a tempo run on Tuesday, and a 5k today. That's it. My Stepfather took... Sat, 3 Nov 2012 17:31:32 EST Week 11 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5115951 Had a great and interesting week! Had 3 easy runs ranging between 3-5 miles, an interval run and a long run. Easy runs are usually pretty easy but my 5 mile run was rough. Legs felt like lead. I've heard that usually one run a week can be rough and this was it. Thank goodness it was an easy run, went really slow. I was so proud of my interval run. Coach had me do 4-3 minute intervals at a "moderate hard" pace. Was able to do each one around 7:35 and felt great. It was definitely chal... Sun, 28 Oct 2012 19:38:52 EST Week 10 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5109775 Had a great week last week! Did a challenging Interval Run, a Tempo run and my longest run of the season so far at 15 miles. I had a really busy schedule last week so when I did my Tempo run, the only time I could do it outside was around 1pm and it was close to 90 degrees. I really didn't think I would finish, was really to call it quits after 5 miles, but I stuck it out and finished the 7 miles. On Saturday I did my 15 and really enjoyed it. Many runners enjoy running with a partner o... Tue, 23 Oct 2012 10:54:10 EST Week 9 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5098552 So after getting sick, something else! During my run last Sunday, I got bit or stung by something and I had an extreme reaction to it. The bite was just behind my knee and it turned into a huge blister with swelling and redness about 3 inches all around. It hurt to bend it and walk, let alone run. So after going to the Doctor, had to take another couple days off! But it didn't deter me!

On Thursday, I went out for a 5k fun run with a local group and actually did my best 3.1 ev... Sun, 14 Oct 2012 12:02:20 EST Week 8 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5089885 This week was a bust. After the Tower of Terror Race, I think from walking around for 4 hours soaked from sweat, and then not getting enough sleep, I caught a nasty cold. I usually catch it early by eating a clove of garlic when I first feel symptoms, but on Monday, the symptoms were so slight I didn't pay attention. I did my upper body and core workout on Monday and that's the last time I worked out. By Tuesday, I was sick in bed. And on Wednesday, traveled to SC to visit my Grandmother... Sun, 7 Oct 2012 11:09:50 EST Week 7 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5082146 Had a good week of training last week. Did my first Tempo Run on the schedule. I've been running pain free so far and thankful for it.

Did the Disney Tower of Terror 10 Miler on Saturday night. This was my first night race, and may be my last. I found it challenging to eat right for this type of race. The weather was extremely humid and if you're familiar with Disney races, you're in the corral area for almost an hour before the race, so I was already sweating so much before t... Mon, 1 Oct 2012 12:22:41 EST Week 6 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5071847 It has been a great week! Logged a total of 29.75 miles this week and have never felt better! I'm running 5 days a week but it doesn't feel like it's that much. I LOVE my coach! After a long run, I take two days off from running, one for foam rolling stretching and upper body strengthening and the next day for cross training and a few lower body and core exercises.

This week, I followed coach's upper body workout to the tee and it included body weight pull-ups. I hadn't done t... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 18:37:32 EST Week 5 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5061924 Figured I would start blogging at the end of each week. This past week was great! This past Sunday ran 10 miles! I was all ready to go run on the trail and when my alarm went off at 5:30am, it was storming outside. It rained most of the day so I ended up doing the 10 miles on the treadmill, which felt like forever. I ran for 1 hour 37 minutes but it felt like 3 hours!

My coach gave me a lower body strength routine to do and I figured it would be a "baby" workout since it inv... Sun, 16 Sep 2012 17:47:04 EST Week 4 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5044702 So far, things are going really well! No aches, pains or breathing problems praise Yahweh! I'm enjoying my training! Did my highest mileage since April with 8.81 miles on Sunday. Goal was to run for 80-85 minutes. I went the 85 and felt really good! Logged 22 miles this past week, first week in many months over 20 miles and it seemed pretty easy. So far I've only been given "easy" runs because my coach is "setting the 'foundation' with more continuous bouts of high aerobic running (i.e... It really doesn't seems like it's going on 4 years since I had my "Aha!" moment and started my journey!

Had the Aha! moment Dec. 2008 at a size 14, joined Sparkpeople Jan. 2009 and by September 2009 was wearing size 4, which I still wear.

Has it always been easy? No. But what has helped me stay on track has been continually setting new goals for myself. I don't track my food as consistently, I may miss a day here or there, but I pretty much still tra... Sat, 1 Sep 2012 19:15:17 EST Week 3 of Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5034903 So far so good! I have a new coach, Joe, with The Boston Running Center and the training is very specific but doable! Did a 7 mile easy run on Sunday and felt great! Yesterday I did some core work like I never had! It was hard! Here's the link if you want to check it out. I was to do each position for 60 seconds each leg!

Today, did strength and cross training. Easy run tomorrow! Was happy to finish it! I struggled with my "long" run of only 7 miles (I know some of you are saying "only 7 miles" but remember, I was running a Half Marathon every weekend for a while). My goal was to run it at a 9:15 pace, and I did pretty well. I took some walk breaks which I'm okay with.

Today was another speed drill. 8 x 400's. The 6 x 400's were hard enough last week and now 2 more??? Last week, I took 1/2 recovery in between each 1/4 mile (400). ... Tue, 21 Aug 2012 21:18:30 EST Week 1, Day 1 of Marathon Training! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5015888 Today I started training for my next and 3rd full Marathon, the Kiawah Island Marathon. It's on Dec. 8th in South Carolina. I chose this one because of it's flat and scenic course, and since it's near my Grandmother, she will get to see me do a race. I wasn't super familiar with this race, but since it was the world's largest 10k with 60,000 people, how could I refuse??? Of course the first person I asked was hubby, but I already knew he wouldn't want to take a vacation day (Tues) for a 10k (he's not a race fanatic like I am lol). So I invited a running friend, Carol, to come with me.

Fortunat... Thu, 5 Jul 2012 16:30:01 EST Feedback & results on The 19 Day Get Lean Project http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4948917 Here's how I got started with this program. After almost 6 months of not feeling good and injury, taking 2 months from working out, I just felt sluggish and heavy, so I needed a jump start to lean out before I start marathon training in August. But I didn't really want to commit to a 60 or 90 day program. So one of my running buddies, Aileen, asked me if I was interested in joining her in this 19 day program. I thought "I can do anything for 19 days!" so I said yes!

The program... Sat, 30 Jun 2012 12:15:24 EST I am a Triathlete!!! Woo Hoo! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4929164 Today I completed another milestone - finishing my first Triathlon!

I found out about this race 5 weeks ago, and the main reason I signed up for it was because I had never seen a swim that short and in a pool (I don't swim). It was the Inaugural Tampa Bay Women's Triathlon.

SWIMMING:
So over the past 5 weeks, I "swam" about 6 times, mostly in my Mom's pool which is half the length of the pool we swam in for the race. Sat, 16 Jun 2012 16:04:47 EST Finally, a complete bike ride! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4922128 Yesterday after church I wanted to go to our local Running & Riding Trail to ride my bike. The trail is 11 miles total. I need 9.25 for the Triathlon I'm doing. I got my bottle cage, filled the bottle, got to the park and was easily able to put the front wheel back on the bike and off I went!

I went around 3pm and it had to have been at least 90 degrees out, so while it was really hot, because I was riding, it wasn't so bad. This trail has water stops every 2 miles. It was fun... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 18:46:22 EST My 2nd Bike Ride...what an adventure!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4919086 This morning I ran a 5k and did much better than the one last month. No major breathing issues and only walked the water stations (vs. last month, walked 8-10 times). Finished 26:39, which is nowhere near a personal best, but I'll take it and was 5th in my Age Group (was a small race lol). I was just happy I felt better.

After seeing yet another doctor, it doesn't look like my problem has to do with my breathing in itself. I've been journaling my symptoms and doctor feels ver... Sat, 9 Jun 2012 15:30:31 EST Did my first "brick"...well, sort of! :-) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4908945 I toyed with the thought of doing a long run today with a group, but didn't sleep well last night, so slept past my window to run outside, so decided to head to the gym for run and bike.

Remember, my Tri will be a reverse, so I'll run 3.1 mi, bike 9.25 mi then swim 225 yards.

So I ran a 5k on the treadmill in 26:56, which included a .25 warm up and 4 walk breaks (I've only run twice in the past 2 months so didn't want to push it). Then headed to the upright bike and did... Sat, 2 Jun 2012 15:46:55 EST Biked...at the gym... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4908073 Well I thought I'd get the feel of riding, and since I don't have a bike yet, I got on the upright bike (I normally ride the recumbent one) and rode for 9.25 miles which is the biking distance of the Tri I'll be doing. I did it at 75-80% max HR at avg 80 RPM and it took me 43:26. I have no idea how that translates into riding a road bike on the road, but I'm thinking it will take me 45-50 minutes to ride the distance.

So at this point, if all goes well, I'm looking at 27 minutes ... Fri, 1 Jun 2012 21:49:20 EST First Swim in a Lap Pool...so this is what 225 yards feels like! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4906501 A running friend who is training for her 2nd Triathlon invited me to her gym to swim tonight. The local Rec pool doesn't open until next week and I need all the help I can get, so I went. So far, I've swam in my Mom's pool which is just over 10 yards each lap.

This was a 25 yard lap pool just like the one I'll be swimming in the Tri in just over 2 weeks. So I needed to do 10 laps. I was able to do 3 of them without stopping, but the other 7 I had to stop somewhere around the ... Thu, 31 May 2012 21:31:19 EST I BOUGHT A BIKE!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4904497 So after complaining that I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on this Tri, I have now bought a Tri Suit (got a great deal from www.swimbikerun.com for $29.99 for top and bottom each (normally $59.99) and then this morning I broke down and bought a Road Bike! I figure even if I don't do another Tri, I want a bike so I can do some outdoor exercise during the summer, since I don't like to run in the heat.

Bike should arrive in the next 2-3 days and I look forward to getting on it... Wed, 30 May 2012 14:42:52 EST 2nd Day in the Water...CAN YOU SAY PROGRESS!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4900347 Went over Mom's for dinner so figured I'd get a swim in while there. I was determined to beat my 30 minute time for doing 20 laps.

While I didn't do any laps without rest, I definitely took less rest than the other day, so I was SO excited when I finished my 20th lap just shy of 15 minutes! So I cut my time in HALF - WOO HOO! Imagine after I really start training 3 days a week for the next 3 weeks!

Now I'm really excited! Will be getting on the bike soon...20 days un... Sun, 27 May 2012 20:23:29 EST Finally got in the water...21 days until my 1st Triathlon! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4899386 Yesterday I decided to give swimming a "try" lol! My Mom has a pool so it was easier to go over her house than be humiliated at a public pool since I don't really know swim technique. Basically I can get from one end to the other but it ain't pretty. My Mom's pool is just over 10 yards long so my goal was to do 20 laps (Tri will be 225 yards) to get me on my way. It took me 30 minutes to do that! For you "non-swimmers" like me, you might think that's pretty good, but believe me, it was a... Sat, 26 May 2012 22:41:46 EST Day 6 of the Challenge...and feeling great! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4888780 Yesterday, I did my first "real" strength workout, meaning, 3 sets of each exercise and 3 exercises per body part. I did Chest, Tri's and Abs. I followed it with a 30 minute High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session on the Arc Trainer. I felt great during the workout and felt great the rest of the day!

Got my Singular and Inhaler, and ready to see if it makes a difference. Eating has been on point! Having a wonderful cheat meal tonight at a favorite restaurant, Harry's S... Sat, 19 May 2012 17:02:45 EST Day 4 of the Challenge...and set a new goal! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4886310 Today I went to the Pulmonary doctor and he strongly felt that I have Exercise Induced Asthma (EIA). Honestly I was so excited to hear that. I posted it in my Facebook Running Friends Group and found many runners suffer from this but from medication (inhaler & Singulair) it's manageable. So that means I can work out full force once I get my medication (picking up tomorrow).

Today I worked legs and did a HIIT session. It went great but had the shortness of breath afterwards. Ho... Thu, 17 May 2012 20:44:50 EST Slowly but surely...I'll get there! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4884001 Last week was a little setback, and I ran a 5k on Saturday which was a big mistake (due to my condition, my back hurt so bad when I breathed as I ran). But I finished the race so that was good. My appointment with a Pulmonary Doctor is tomorrow, and I'm anxious to see what he says.

In the meantime, on Friday, a Personal Trainer/Bootcamp Instructor friend of mine was doing a last minute enlisting of people for her 6 week Transformation Challenge, and I found out a friend of mine w... Wed, 16 May 2012 11:02:03 EST Another day with no workout...but still smiling! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4872955 Today I scheduled an appointment with a Pulmonologist, just to make sure I have this Costochondritis and to see if there's anything that can be done to speed up the healing process. So no workout today because of the breathing issues.

However, just because I can't workout doesn't mean I don't get at least 30-60 minutes of walking in each and every day! I'm not just going to sit on the couch. And now is the time to really pay attention to my nutrition, since diet is 80% of resu... Tue, 8 May 2012 21:03:57 EST A little sidetracked but not derailed! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4871273 The Costochondritis was really acting up today, lots of breathing issues and got some kind of virus from my husband who got it from my nephew, so let's just say I've spent much of the past 24 hours in a small room of my house lol. So my training will have to wait a moment but that's okay, I am not discouraged! How can I be when I get to wake up every day and choose to smile! Hope you had a great day!

198 Mon, 7 May 2012 21:13:53 EST
