I do like My 600 Pound Life because of the insights it gives to weight loss and also, I love to see people step up and overcome their problems. I love to see them succeed. Even though they all get gastric surgery, Dr. Nowzarden is very balanced in his approach and makes the person lose about 50 to 100 pounds before he will approve them for surgery. He makes it clear that the surgery is a tool, not a panacea. There are aspects of the show that are off-putting. I don't th... Sat, 25 Feb 2017 15:14:30 EST Good days and What I'm Thinking Lately http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6317512 Today I wrote as my status that I had a good day yesterday, stayed with my food plan and exercised and today I feel GREAT. I had the typical thought after I wrote that-I wish I could bottle this feeling! It feels so great the day after success in eating and exercising-physically as well as mentally. I can truly say to myself: this feels better than eating junk and stuffing myself. However, When I'm feeling tempted, it's hard to remember that. So, I'm writing it down to help. The physical acti... I have learned more than the kids. We moved about 5 years ago and had to look for a new church.. Just this past year we started to go to a church that seemed a match for us and our daughter and her kids. I started teaching again (second gradeonce a month) in December. The lesson was on Jesus' Birthday. The lesson plan called for having a birthday part... Tue, 31 Jan 2017 07:18:31 EST Something I Thought I Would Never Do http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6303542 Be in a Triathlon! (Of sorts). One thing I never wanted to do was a triathlon. I am a poor swimmer. I had a near drowning incident when I was 7 ( during a town swim lesson!) and I was afraid of deep water. I didn't learn to swim until I was in HS. Even a sprint triathlon would be too much for me. So I just found out that my Y is having an indoor triathlon in March and I signed up. It is USAT approved-so it is official. LOL, you have to pay an extra $15 to join USAT. Anyway, you swim for 10 mi... Mon, 23 Jan 2017 06:03:34 EST Fun Races Coming Up http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6295796 When my daughter visited for Christmas, we planned for some races to do together. I'm not that great a runner, but I am a fantastic race picker. I've been to Key West, Big Sur and Lake Tahoe. In Feb, I'm going to do a 10 K in Savannah. <BR> <img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople.com/guid/eed252cb-71d5-41ae-a86f-a7db9f82a32d.PNG"> <BR> I've never been to Savannah and I'm looking forward to it. <BR> For the BIG extravaganza race, my whole family ( son and GF are maybe) is going to the Delaware... I get a Pastor Rick's daily devotional by email. Ever since Jan 1, it has been on change, and I have found it very helpful. After a certain point, I think things outside of "diet focused material" have more impact. I actually worked with the man who wrote it, but I can't remember where. Either it was my psych rotation or when I was a nurse intern in a psych facility. I just remember that he was always reading in his office and had a rep for being wicked smart. He's a Rabbi, too. Anyway, he started a drug recovery program in Pittsburg... Sat, 7 Jan 2017 17:20:05 EST An Interesting Morning and Looking Back-Looking Ahead http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6288839 So I got a call this morning from my husband from work (he had worked 8P to 8A in the ER) saying that he couldn't find his truck keys and could I drive in and bring him the other set. Welllll.......those keys haven't been accessible since last year when we let our granddaughter throw them down the cellar steps and they fell down the side of the steps and disappeared. We have 3 tons of wood pellets piled underneath the stairs. So I decided one set of keys was enough and we could wait to get th...
