It was a very busy day and at night we went to pick up a treadmill that we found on Craig's list. I love it!

Friday we went to Long Island for my mother in law's memorial service. It was very touching. There were tons of big family meals but I survived with my game plan in tact.

I am looking forward to a very positive week. Sun, 7 Jul 2013 20:47:51 EST It has been awhile....... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5408979 The nice thing about being a part of Spark People is that they are always there for you ready for you to pick yourself up and come back into the fold. Even though I am teaching summer school, summer is always my time to regroup and be good to myself. I am in okay shape but there are some clothes I would love to fit into again and I could use some more energy. This is the time I am going to do it! I am working hard to make the right choices to build an environment where I can release the weight and have the toned, healthy body I strive for. This will not happen overnight but every good choice is a step in the right direction. When I make good choices about by nutrition and exercise I feel so good and I realize I can feel really good about who I am and what I look like right now. There is not a... Fri, 28 Dec 2012 20:58:46 EST You can get back on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5173199 The start of the week was a bit of a disaster. I was feeling overwhelmed by the horrific tragedy in Newtown, my schedule was booked solid, and the holiday stress started. By Wednesday I was a mess and eating all kinds of stuff I really didn't want. My body felt like crap. On Wednesday I started adding a 10 minute elliptical workout when I woke up. Thursday and today I decided I was totally not going to partake in any treats at school. I made it through two days of constant, wonderful looking ... Fri, 21 Dec 2012 20:38:35 EST The Scale Can Be So Depressing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5147568 Intellectually I know, there are many ways to measure your weight loss success other than the scale. But that number gets me every time! I want what I have deemed the "perfect" number for me. Sometimes I go through stages of weighing myself every day at the same time, sometimes I weigh myself once in the middle of the week, and sometimes I go through long periods (months) of avoiding it like the plague. When I hit a good number I am so motivated and when it is bigger than expected I am devast... Mon, 26 Nov 2012 20:15:27 EST Great Motivation Boost http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5146277 Posting is very intimidating. I have friends who keep wonderful blogs and I am always impressed by their length and quality. Many times I have ideas swimming around in my head but they don't seem as great when I begin to write them down. Today I was pleasantly surprised that people not only read what I posted but actually took a few moments to commented on it. Thank you, it was a great motivation boost! Sun, 25 Nov 2012 18:42:49 EST Little Choices Add Up http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5144808 Yes, having a weight loss plan is important but being mindful of the thousands of choices each day is more important. This is the lesson that will keep me on track. I am a planner so I like to lay out fantastic plans on how to best live my life. This is not necessarily a bad thing but I get myself so down when I go off the plan and it can feel so overwhelming. When I am mindful of each choice I am able to celebrate the good choices in the moment. When I make a poor choice I can put it in pers... Sat, 24 Nov 2012 07:07:05 EST Here Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5138143 I decided to join in the Spark people community again... it has been a while. I am kind of in a holding pattern. Nothing big has changed for me since I "disappeared". Life happens and I don't seem to make the weight less progress that I feel I want. I want to give the support and resources of the Sparkpeople community another try. Sat, 17 Nov 2012 08:14:09 EST Life is Life http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4733357 It has been awhile since I blogged. I have a full life and as a result life gets very busy and stressful. Between my family, work, and church I have many balls in the air. Some balls are stressful and some are great!

On the weight loss front...it just isn't happening right now. I am treading water. I had really wanted to lose that 10 -15 pounds before February vacation (trip to the Bahamas and Doug's 50th) for such a long time but it didn't happen. My exercise choices are usually g... Sat, 11 Feb 2012 07:37:13 EST Getting it together http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4696366 So far this has been a great weekend for pulling myself together.

Yesterday I organized my things for school and scanned a ton of my students work so I can move forward with progress reports. Today I plan to begin writing the comments and consolidating assessments.

Molly has her first round of midterms this week and I have been trying to help her get set up and ready. Sun, 22 Jan 2012 07:55:56 EST Maybe back to low carb??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4692135 Well.... I feel very stuck. This is not a new feeling and I know I can get past this. While my husband and I were on a 4 mile walk (I love both the exercise and time to talk) we were talking about things that have worked for us in the past. My stress and sugar level is high and it makes my body feel like crap. I do see a difference when I am careful about my sugar and carb intake.

We promised each other we would work on creating a healthier pantry this weekend.
It is worth a ... Thu, 19 Jan 2012 21:19:55 EST Long Weekend! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4679151 I am very happy to have the week behind and enjoy a long weekend. We just packed up the ski stuff (and had a great evening walk) Tomorrow we are off to Okemo for the day! The rest of the weekend I should be able to catch up with life, relax a little, and visit my dad. 329 Fri, 13 Jan 2012 21:09:44 EST My "Trouble Goal" http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4676602 Keep a Positive attitude when I encounter plateaus, burnout, those weak moments, days of discouragement, and interruptions.

I have the tools, the resources, and the support to get where I want to be. My temptation for perfection or nothing gets in my way at times. I believe I would have more success and be happier if I stepped back sometimes and gave myself a break. 224 Thu, 12 Jan 2012 16:48:35 EST Reset Button http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4672419 I thought by January 10th I would be past the RESET button but I am doing it again. Last weekend and this week I have been struggling with making good choices in an emotional, extremely time crunched period, and sleep depleted environment. It is a good time to learn to keep diet and exercise alive in this environment.

Tonight I went to my yoga class and I will look through and pick some recipes from the Spark Cookbook before I go to bed. I had to write an annual report and make sample paper plate penguins tonight and I still eeked out 20 minutes on the elliptical!!
Yeah new me!!!
244 j Thu, 5 Jan 2012 20:25:57 EST Some great choices...some bad http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4655329 The bottom line for losing weight is pretty straight forward. You eat less and move more. I love to move and enjoy finding more ways to sneak exercise in my day. I also plan my food and start off great on paper. I find myself distracted by food during the day and make really poor choices and get upset with myself. Usually this happens when I feel overwhelmed, upset or it is just afternoon. This cycle is not helping me to lose the weight I want to. Tue, 3 Jan 2012 21:17:47 EST Looking at 2012 Resolutions http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4644476 It is that time of year when everyone looks at the year ahead with a fresh slate. Here are my thoughts on goals for myself in the coming year.

1.I need to get myself over the "diet" mentality. In general I have some great healthy habits but I do have a few nasty ones as well. A more lifestyle approach should help me to not be so hard on myself and work at the big picture.

2. Organization always improves my life. My key areas (classroom, office, kitchen) are organized and... Fri, 30 Dec 2011 08:09:52 EST Day After Christmas http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4638677 I had a wonderful Christmas weekend. Yesterday we made Mary's Christmas very special despite being in the hospital. After we opened presents we brought a hot breakfast for her dressed in our antlers and Santa hats. We had four wonderful visits before the end of the day. The girls all enjoyed their gifts and Doug and I even went for a walk.

Today we started off the day driving Christmas goodies to my Dad. When we got back we brought Moose to the woods and are now enjoying a relaxing... Mon, 26 Dec 2011 11:21:45 EST Getting Myself Out of a Hole http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4627661 These last two weeks have been a roller coaster for my healthy habits and I can feel it. I have been trying to keep positive and stop and make a good choice after I have slipped and made poor choices (the stop, drop, and roll method). It is just such a tough cycle to be in and it gets me nowhere.

Maybe the act of writing my thoughts down will let me release them, take a deep breath, and not only get on the right tract but continue to move in a positive direction.

My curr... Fri, 16 Dec 2011 05:44:58 EST Advent http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4601602 Today is the first Sunday in Advent. As I prepare for Christmas, the celebration of Jesus' birth, I am reflecting on how I need to prepare myself to achieve my goals. I haven't weighed in for about a week. The experts say weekly weigh ins are more healthy. It just makes me nervous to wait that many days. Maybe I am nervous because it was Thanksgiving week and I was surrounded my many different foods. Some of the food choices I made were good and some weren't so great. There was a low level of... Sun, 27 Nov 2011 19:26:12 EST Giving Myself a Break http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4595981 Tonight I am enjoying the company of Doug's sister and nephews. We made a lobster dinner at home . I ate more than my allotted calories but It wasn't I outrageous all things considered. My exercise schedule is off as well but I did get ten minutes on the elliptical. Tomorrow is a new day and I feel great about today and tomorrow. I am very grateful for my life.
Tue, 22 Nov 2011 21:28:19 EST Reset http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4593379 Today I am pressing the reset button. Last week was a challenge and I made some choices that were not so great. It is a new week and Thanksgiving is here as well which gives me the perfect opportunity to make some good choices that make a difference. This holiday I will put my focus on family and friends and take it off the foods of the season. Mon, 21 Nov 2011 05:41:16 EST Moving Along http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4568696 Friday is a good time for reflection before the weekend. I am happy with my exercise habits and my desire to earn apart points. To get my scale numbers down I will have to tweak my eating habits. I seem to eat little things here and there that add up. My overall plan is good... at just tend to add a few extras here and there.

I am starting to clean up those habits right now! 104 Fri, 4 Nov 2011 18:16:39 EST A Little Reflection http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4548047 I have been with Spark People for a couple of weeks and I thought it was time for a little reflection. There is so much on this site, maybe too much at times. I have used tracking tools like these forever but I like that it is free and it is a wide data base. The spark points are kind of fun and motivating.

I haven't seen any great changes physically but the program seems to keep me on track and maybe a little more realistic.
