Another 100 miles.

That's what my parents used to say whenever I asked that question while on a road trip. It was always the same answer, no matter how far we had traveled. I always just thought I had great timing. I would then (finally, I'm sure my parents were thinking) settle down and go to sleep. We did eventually get there, after all, and they would wake me up. Except for once. They let me stay sleeping in the back seat when we got to grandma's. I'm sure the thoughts that init... Wed, 7 Jan 2009 01:36:51 EST On The Bandwagon I jumped on SP for the first time this year, and guess how many points I needed until my next trophy? 2009! Problem is, I should have made that trophy months ago. Anyway, I found out that the SparkWheel still isn't giving anything up.

I've not been very active here lately, (for months, actually) and there's no real reason other than time. It's from my 21st birthday, 1985. This was one of several parties that year, held at my house with a bunch of friends. Since people are always looking for a reason to celebrate something, I had 4 birthday parties that year. It was quite a drunken w... I can tell by the shirt I was wearing. It was purchased at a bar on a road trip me and a girlfriend took, leaving the day after graduation.

This was on my boss' 42' Morgan sailing yacht. So simple in fact that it just kind of took over. I had wanted to stop at 140-145, where I thought it looked good, but my body wanted to go back to it's previous scrawny, skinny state from my younger days, and continued. It ended up hovering around the 125 mark, give or take a pound or two, even though I increased calorie intake to allow for maintenance.

At this weight I feel too thin, and h... Mon, 9 Jun 2008 16:28:10 EST Just when I thought it couldn't get better... It's been a great day, It's been a great couple of weeks in fact. Each day better than the last.

Yes, there is a new boy toy. That's most, but not all of it. June (GRUMPYGRAMS) stayed here one night for a pajama party and we had a great time. I've purchased a whole new wardrobe for summer in a size smaller than when I was in high school! My back is feeling much better, and now instead of surgery being imminent, I have the option. (It won't ever heal, but I still haven't decided). I... My crowning glory so to speak. I have since lost approximately 60% of the volume of my hair, and it is thin and lifeless unless it has a lot of help, but that's not what this is about.

Back then, my hair was so think, that I could wrap... Wed, 16 Apr 2008 13:19:04 EST Procrastinating for Points Either it's the boredom getting to me, or a sense of morbidity regarding my mortality. In any case, it's been over 20 years since I updated my address book. Not the one in the cell phone, or the email client. Those aren't complete anyway. I mean the handwritten paper one that everyone used to keep "back in the day". I got to thinking that if anything happened to me, my son wouldn't have a clue where to look for information on relatives, friends etc. that he doesn't normally have contact with.... The guy in the picture has been pictured in a previous blog entry. He's the one that I still haven't technically broken up with to this day, and jokingly refer to as "the other boyfriend". Maybe it was his polka skills that have kept me attached all these years. Or his Barry Manilow impression.

Could that possibly be an alcoholic beverage in front ... Mon, 7 Apr 2008 15:06:35 EST I crossed the Border First let me attempt to justify myself by saying that with only a few exceptions, I have been cooped up inside, all by myself, with little or no human contact or external sensory input for almost 3 weeks. (My son's visit doesn't count).

I had a doctor appointment today and a friend drove me there. He's actually Johnny's neighbor, so now he's mine too I guess. Fri, 4 Apr 2008 18:09:30 EST Unstructured Stomach-ache * WARNING * Boredom blog ahead

My life has been pretty unstructured the last couple of weeks, since this past Friday in particular. Tue, 1 Apr 2008 14:44:37 EST Off the pity potty and scoring some points I should have been taking my son back to school today after Spring Break. But I am unable to, so his "friend with benefits" came and picked him up. Real nice girl. She came into town earlier in the week and spent the night.

When I dropped him off at the beginning of the school year, it was hard. My baby was growing up. When he left to go back after his other breaks, it was hard. I had seen during his visits how much he was growing up. But this time he left, not by himself, not with... Sat, 29 Mar 2008 15:54:25 EST The Joy's of SparkPeople The title of this blog may lead you to believe that it’s about the website, but it’s not, really. It’s about the people who use this website, and the community atmosphere that gets everyone involved. Tue, 25 Mar 2008 11:33:43 EST Somehow, I managed I don't know how I did it, but I did. Maybe stress had something to do with it. I used to be the type that loses weight when under stress or pressure, so now that my metabolism is pumped back up, that's working for me again. I don't know.

I have been through several days of diet hell. 3 wakes and 2 funerals in 5 days. Mon, 25 Feb 2008 11:19:04 EST Boredom Blog Does anyone know who I would petition at SP to add something to the cardio list?

I think that disconnecting and untangling the spaghetti that makes up a hard-wired home computer network with 4 computers and multiple peripherals should count for something! Looking at myself in the mirror doesn't really do it for me. I didn't see myself getting fat, so it stands to reason that I don't see myself getting thinner.

Sure, my clothes are a smaller size, and I need a smaller size again. Mon, 11 Feb 2008 10:23:35 EST Short but Sweet Visit My son came home from school today so that he could see find out where we'll live and how to get there, and to see the place. I expected him home early so that we could see the place and then go do some shopping before coming home and finishing packing up his room. But he stayed out late last night, and I called him and woke him up when I was checking to see how close he was. So he was 3 hours later than I expected. We didn't go shopping, or picking out paint colors like I had hoped we would,... Sun, 10 Feb 2008 01:06:33 EST Empty Nest It's after 3 am and I’m still not done packing up The Boy’s room. Man, did that kid save a bunch of crap. He claims he purged a bit before he left at the end of winter break, and I know he did throw away some stuff. I’m trying to go through things and get rid of more junk, but it’s very hard. I’m sure a lot of it was saved for a reason, particularly things that are actually put away, like in a container or something. He’s lived here since he was 6, starting in first grade. What I worked so hard for. My plan bore fruit. I was successful. I only missed my goal by a few pounds, and I was, and still am OK with that. The witch never even showed up to the reception, so I was triumphant.

The following day started my funk. I don't have all the reasons why. Maybe I felt bad because they missed the reception. But why should I feel bad? She's the one with the issues, not me. I didn'... Tue, 5 Feb 2008 02:22:15 EST Do Turkeys Fly?
I think they must.

My goal was set at the end of September 2007. I wanted to lose 50 lbs by the time I attended a wedding on January 26, 2008. In the past I have compared that 50 pounds to a few Thanksgiving turkeys. Well, a few days before the target date, I was just a bit under 5 lbs short of my goal, by my OWI. The day before, it was less than 3, but we'll stick with the OWI.

Those turkeys had literally flown off of me, leaving nothing but a smear of gravy on th... Mon, 28 Jan 2008 23:37:21 EST HA HAAAA!!! A while ago I blogged about the evil machine at the end of the hallway that I pass by everyday. Lynn suggested putting a copy of my signed SP pledge on the machine to reinforce my commitment, and I did. It disappeared, and I assumed the vending guy removed it. So I put another one up. It stayed up for quite a while, but yesterday it was gone again, so I put up another one. This morning as I flitted by the machine, the breeze of my passing stirred something. I looked over and what do you thin... Thu, 24 Jan 2008 11:25:45 EST So Close I was so close...
to a calm, quiet, next couple of months. My son was all set to go back to school on Sunday morning. He had even cleaned up his room. Not much else, but the room was clean. Just one last night out with his girlfriend before he went back to school. Then, he got arrested Saturday night. Pretty much just an unfortunate series of events, and I'm pretty sure all will turn out well. But he is an adult now. I can only give what aid I can from the sidelines. The battle is all h... Tue, 22 Jan 2008 11:41:55 EST Tactful suggestions What is tact? An instructor in high school said that tact was the ability to tell someone to go to hell with so much finesse that they were actually looking forward to the trip.

I’ve always been a person that says what’s on my mind, and I never really mastered the art. I try to use tact when the situation warrants it, but it doesn’t always come out right. If I have the opportunity to think before I speak, it usually comes out alright. If I don’t, then I try not to say anything at a... Wed, 16 Jan 2008 01:46:40 EST Thoughts on the LBD Choice Okay, here are my own thoughts on each of the possible LBD selections, and then I'll tell you who the winner was (Fun and Games thread, General Discussion Forum, 80's Music Lover's Team, who rock, by the way).

Choice A
Black - This dress was exactly like the purple and red choices, except the neckline was just a slight bit different. In the picture, it doesn't look too bad from the front, however, in real life I felt it accentuated the ta-tas way too much. It also showed my ... Tue, 8 Jan 2008 02:15:37 EST What I Deal With Daily Our office is in the basement of our building. The landlord calls it the Lower Level, but it's still a basement. It's quite comfortable and roomy, and I really don't mind the lack of windows. When it was time to enlarge our space, my boss charged me with finding the new location, and there's been no complaints. It's really pleasant.

The washrooms are on the first floor. As is the water fountain. We have a kitchen in our office, with a sink, but the water doesn't get cold enough for... Thu, 3 Jan 2008 22:40:36 EST Holiday Healthy Eating Pic I didn't think one existed, but here it is. It was just emailed to me this morning.

The other in the picture is my ex-boyfriend. We're still friends, and I still love him.

100 bonus points for me, yay!

I used the one with the broccoli instead of the one with me drinking a shot of Jack Daniels right out of the bottle. For the record, it was only a little sip, (and yes, it was logged) and we were drinking TO our health. Mon, 31 Dec 2007 13:43:00 EST Timelines Keep Things in Perspective When we see ourselves everyday, we really don't get the full visual impact of what our weight loss or gain actually looks like. That's why it's so easy to ignore when we are gaining it, until one day we wake up and truly don't recognize ourselves. It's also why we may not think we're making progress, when we really are.

When I posted those pictures earlier of the dresses, I also found a few more in my library that really put things into perspective for me as far as weight gain/loss... Sun, 30 Dec 2007 04:43:24 EST The polls are open For anyone stumbling across this blog and you don't know what I'm talking about, it's chatted about on the 80's Music Lovers team message board "Miscellaneous Chats and Shout Outs", back on Dec. 19th.

Well the kids and I went shopping today for THE DRESS. We brought along a camera and let me tell you, that was a fantastic idea. Even when you see yourself in a mirror, you don't really get the full effect until you see the pictures. It made all the difference in the world when narrow... Sat, 29 Dec 2007 21:06:01 EST Camp Cederoth in full swing and LBD's I ended up not having to work tonight, or tomorrow night either. Good thing/bad thing. It's nice to have the entire weekend off. At least they let me know that it was dead before I went in. I was in the city anyway at my friend's house between the two jobs, but if I had come all the way in from home, I would have been royally PO'd. It would have been nice to make some money after Christmas shopping, (tuition will be due again soon) but it will be nice to sleep late AND wake up in my own bed. ... Sat, 29 Dec 2007 01:13:32 EST Obligations and Resolutions Christmas is over for me and I am so glad. I don't begrudge anyone their Merry Christmas, in fact, it usually makes things better for me when everyone else is happy, but it's never been a good time for me. I used to get past things and into the spirit once I started shopping, but that time really never came this year. It was difficult to find the time, so I ended up forcing myself to do it last minute, and as a result, the gifts I purchased were either uninspired, or gift cards or cash, (thos... Tue, 25 Dec 2007 21:58:48 EST Don't read this if you're hungry Last chance to close this blog right now. You've been warned.

Friday was our office Christmas lunch and the three of us went to an Italian restaurant. This was a traditional type of place and low-fat did not seem to be on their menu, but I couldn't really tell because I can't understand Italian (other than Spaghetti, Mostaciolli, etc. and I didn't see any of that). :) The names of the dishes were in Italian of course, and the descriptions were in English, but it was still diffic... Sun, 23 Dec 2007 04:06:56 EST I passed the test...sort of Last night I had my first real test for what I've learned on Spark People.

I started SP at the end of September, and have not been out to an actual restaurant since. I went out shopping last night after work. Not knowing where I would be eating, or what my choices would be, I had no idea where I would end up for the day as far as calories, or overall nutrional balance.

I stayed at my friend's house as usual on Monday night, and forgot to bring my lunch to work yesterday.... Wed, 19 Dec 2007 12:13:23 EST Metabolism is a tricky thing Wow! Today I am feeling the full brunt of coming OUT of starvation mode.

Normally, I wasn't a big eater and when I started tracking my calorie intake on SP, it was less than half of what I should have. Now that I am more consistently getting enough fuel, the metabolism is speeding up. My exercise for the most part has been light, usually not more than 30 minutes per day.

But the last two days, heavy cleaning and moving furniture around...I'm starving!

I ate br... Fri, 14 Dec 2007 15:25:15 EST I Like Being Alone I've been trying for over a year now to get my place clean all at once. Ever since I asked my boyfriend to move out. I still had my son here, so it was hard. For reasons I won't go into because it's TMI, I have to be totally alone when I clean.

I clean fairly regularly, but I'm talking about a corner to corner, into all the nooks and crannies, deep cleaning. I've started many times, but run out of time (or steam) and don't finish it all at once, and then it's a few weeks before I g... Wed, 12 Dec 2007 22:52:19 EST Down time I'm just gonna chill for the next few days I think. I won't say it's been an overly stressful couple of weeks, but I've had to be "on" more than usual. Paying attention to and focusing on others and nothing for myself. Consequently, it's making me shut down in other areas. Work for instance. I'm just kind of hanging out here, not really getting anything done. I can't do that for too long without it starting to show.

Oddly enough, I'd like to go home and clean my house. It's a bit d... Tue, 11 Dec 2007 12:58:42 EST 80's Music Lovers are infected Positive energy is contagious. We may have an epidemic here.

Last Friday (11/30) started out fabulous. I woke up in a great mood, and the positive energy flowing from the "I'm Great..." message thread in the 80's Music Lover's Spark Team only increased it. It was a great day at work and a great night at my part time job tending bar that night. The bar wasn't overly busy and the patrons were all in a happy joy good mood as well, and I had the time to share in the jokes and laughter.... Wed, 5 Dec 2007 14:51:35 EST Fabulous Friday I woke up feeling so great today. Then I was on the I'm great thread reading through today's post and that just made me feel greater. I've had a very productive day at work, which is great. TWO friends called me today and they are in great moods too.

I hope everyone has a spectacular weekend! Fri, 30 Nov 2007 16:33:45 EST Sparky Mambo's too “This is me workin’ out and rockin’ to the 80s in honor of my 80s Music Lovers teammates during Week 5 of November!!

Yesterday, I figured I'd take Sparky on a field trip. Mondays I go to a friend's house to watch football and I usually stay all night. It's a real long drive home, but only 10 minutes from work (as opposed to 45 from home). I figured I'd get my workout in before my friend came home from work. I usually cook dinner, and chose to bake a ham so that I wouldn't have to ... Tue, 27 Nov 2007 19:32:01 EST Put it back? No way! An earlier blog entry referred to losing the equivalent of a Thanksgiving Turkey. Well, I brought my turkey gift home from work yesterday. It's a 13 pounder, so I've actually lost the equivalent of almost 2 of those.

I jokingly blogged about using it for strength training, so today I figured, just for laughs, why not?

So, I get in position for some situps, and drag this thing onto my chest. (I seem to have lost a whole bunch from that area anyway.)

Did I reall... Sun, 25 Nov 2007 11:32:36 EST Advice for the eve before Thanksgiving So I decided to finally get in on a challenge along with the fantastic folks in the 80's Music SparkTeam. I chose a daily challenge posted by Paul under Paul's Pushes and Prods.

The challenge? 100 fewer calories than your recommended, 15-20 minutes more exercise, and 9 glasses of water.

Well, I drank 8 glasses of water this afternoon after accepting the challenge. Bad enough thing to do when a normal commute home is 30-45 minutes. But on the day before Thanksgiving? Am I... Wed, 21 Nov 2007 19:28:21 EST What the H@#& ? OK, when I started SP I KNOW I weighed in at 194 #. I had been to the doctor just a month before, had been doing NOTHING about weight loss at all. So that's what I put down as my starting weight. I wanted to lose 50 lbs by the end of January (144).

I mentioned in a previous blog entry that I don't own a scale and was using a friend's. Then I notcied that he kept changing the starting weight (it's an analog scale). Whether to be mean or not, I don't know, and it doesn't matter. So I... Tue, 20 Nov 2007 19:36:52 EST
