SUPERSYLPH's SparkPeople Blog SUPERSYLPH's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community WooHoo Jar!!! I have been wanting to make a WooHoo Jar ever since I've read a blog by MOSTMOM1. Today, I read another blog talking about her WooHoo Jar, and the game she plays with it.

urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=5320931

After watching it, I thought, "Dang it! Why don't I have a WooHoo Jar?!" So, I got off my butt and hunted down items I could use to make one. And, to kill two birds with one stone, I made it fall/autumn-themed f... Fri, 23 Aug 2013 01:37:05 EST Countdown Chain Hey All!

I'm posting pictures from two of my past craft challenges with the Scrap & Craft to Lose team!

This is a countdown chain (started from 77) for buying a house. The loan lasts for 90 days, and we're on day 63 now. How exciting!

The second challenge, I made a house, halfway mark (45), and mini quote banner out of the scraps from the chains.

<img src="http://photos-ak.sp... Sun, 18 Aug 2013 02:23:51 EST Handmade Paper Credit Card Holder! For the Scrap & Craft to Lose team that I'm in, I made a credit card holder for the craft challenge this week: try something new.

I've never tried making a credit card holder before, and I needed one! I've been using a rubber band to hold all my cards together! Instead of buying a new one like I had planned, I made one! I used stickers I bought at Michael's a while back, and laminated the whole thing with scotch tape.

The tutorial I used can be found on Youtube:
... Fri, 19 Jul 2013 12:54:57 EST House Hunting As some of you may or may not know, we've been hunting for a house since the beginning of June. Our vow renewal/staycation at the end of May really sparked us wanting to get a house.

Right after, I got pre-approved for a conventional loan. However, because I didn't want to be paying 20% for the down payment, I was switched over to an FHA loan. Then, they felt that I should be doing a VA loan, so I was switched yet again. Then, after finding out that not many sellers are accepting ... Sat, 13 Jul 2013 02:08:48 EST Last Old-Fashioned Pizza Hut in Southern Nevada! Tue, 2 Jul 2013 23:41:05 EST DnD is Back! We got around to playing another session last night, and it was awesome! We haven't played for weeks, maybe even over a month! This campaign is soooooo good! This isn't the campaign I'm running, and I probably won't even have the time to run Carrion Crown with school coming up. My husband's DMing a Neverwinter campaign, the one we played last night. I love how he's just using the books as a guideline; it makes it much more interesting. There are tons of twists in the story, and I'm a big fan ... Fri, 10 Aug 2012 19:23:42 EST Chimera's Update She's doing much better after finishing her medications! I'd like to think that they did the trick, and she's all better now! She doesn't sneeze so often, she's not all buggery, and the ulcer under her eyelid has gone down a lot!

Next week, she'll be getting her front paws declawed. She's learned to not scratch the furniture WHILE we're awake. LOL!

273 Fri, 10 Aug 2012 17:32:05 EST Pure AwSoMeNeSs Last week, I got so much done it's crazy! I cleaned up the house, vacuumed and everything. I got caught up with things I needed to do like repair things (gluing, sewing), groomed the pets (ear, teeth, and nose wrinkle cleaning, and bathing), and blogging. I just feel so great when I accomplish a lot when there's a lot that needs to be done! It's actually refreshing, if that makes sense!

334 Mon, 30 Jul 2012 20:47:51 EST Chimera's Still Sick We recently took Chimera to the veterinarian for the rest of her vaccinations, but they couldn't do them because she's still sick. Her immune system wouldn't be able to take it. Her doctor gave us stronger antibiotics and eye drops. She thinks it's just a nasty respiratory illness, and I hope so too. We'll see how they work. Hopefully, the sneezing and puffiness in her eye goes away soon. On a lighter note, she's been gaining weight and her fur is so shiny!

241 Sat, 21 Jul 2012 20:29:38 EST House Shopping My husband and I just went to go look at our first house this past week, and it was pretty fun! It didn't have everything we wanted, but it's good experience! We liked everything, but the lack of counters in the kitchen, and the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms were tiny. Everytime we look at a house, we'll probably get a better and better picture of the dream house we want. Even though my loan runs out in September, I'm not that worried. If we don't find a house AND my husband doesn't get a job by then,... Sat, 21 Jul 2012 20:12:34 EST Sparks of July Every year, we usually do the whole eat tons of food and watch/light fireworks for the 4th, but we did something different this year. My dad had to go to work early the next day, and my friend has problems with her back and wasn't up to doing anything. So, my husband and I just walked to Arizona Charlie's and ate at their wonderful Sourdough Cafe. I had Belgian waffles and a frozen margarita, and my husband had a burger and fries. Then we shared a serving of fries. Yum!

472<... Sat, 21 Jul 2012 19:55:18 EST School Books As you know, I'm starting school again this fall, and I ordered books of course. Well, when I ordered them, the math books were out of stock. I opted to have the writing book and math books ship as they came in. The writing books came in quickly, but my math books didn't show up for weeks. I was getting worried. Finally, I got an e-mail confirmation saying that the package has shipped, so YAY! I'll have everything in time for school!

149 Sat, 21 Jul 2012 19:36:57 EST New Clipper Kit & Fall Session I I ordered the Wahl Pro Series Cord/Cordless Dog Clipper Kit a few weeks ago, and it came in last week. I watched the DVD, and didn't read the intsructions because I figured that they had the same information. Well, the clipper came charged, so I figured, "Hey, it's all ready to go!" For a couple of days I clipped the dogoggies hair, and glanced at the instructions: Charge for 24 hours before use. I'm afraid that the reason the clippers aren't working that well is because it wasn't fully charg... Sun, 24 Jun 2012 13:31:31 EST Chimera Towards the end of last week, I was walking one of my routes for my exercise. Across the street at my local park, a kitten crosses the street to me and head butts my ankles. "Wow! How friendly!" is my first thought. We have a lot of stray cats and kittens in my neighborhood, and they tend to be afraid of people because they were born without human contact. It seemed obvious that this kitten wasn't born stray. It was sneezing, had boogers in it's eyes and out its nose, its third eyelids were d... Sun, 10 Jun 2012 23:56:11 EST Visiting the In-Laws We went to visit my husband's parents' house last week in Oregon. It was okay. I thought it would have more of a family reunion feel to it where we'd be "catching up", but oh well. It was more of doing things they wanted to do and such. I realize that not all families are the same, so I don't hold it against them. I'm just so used to my parents asking questions about my day, school, work, etc. The conversations weren't very one-sided and it was obvious they were interested. Also, when I'd vis... Sun, 10 Jun 2012 21:39:12 EST Calories Yesterday... Not So Bueno So, I splurged a little because of my husband and I celebrating our anniversary over my days off. However, I came up with a plan. I went over by 400 something calories, so I'm going to cut 200 calories off of today and 200 tomorrow. That'll mean instead of eating 1,950, I'll be eating 1,716. Not so bad.

224 Fri, 25 May 2012 16:36:16 EST Calories -- And This Time It's Great News! I'd have to say I think I did pretty darn fatastic last week on my calorie intake. That is all.

248 Fri, 25 May 2012 16:26:04 EST Finally Finished! Okay, so long story short, I was supposed to draw a picture of Master Chief for my brother YEARS ago. I drew the helmet, then never bugged with it again. Eventually, I threw it away thinking my brother wouldn't want such a silly thing anymore. I was wrong! He brought it up at the beginning of this year, asking, "So, how's my Halo pic coming?" Crap!

Anyway, for his birthday, I drew it for him using a pencil, pastels, and colored pencils. The pencil was used for most of Master Chief... Fri, 11 May 2012 00:46:01 EST Goood Week I haven't been doing awesome on my eating or even my fitness. Ouch! My eating has been more out of whack than usual because of my brother visiting. My dad loads up on a bunch of not-so-good for you foods when my brother visits. Now, I'm not saying that it's his fault; it just makes it harder to stay on track. lol. I've been doing around the same minutes, just not the same activities. I've been gardening instead of brisk walking and dancing to BEP Experience.

I'd like to think I did... Fri, 4 May 2012 22:44:20 EST Update on My Babies Last week was my dog's and her brother's birthday, so we had presents for them to open and a homemade pet-friendly cake for them to eat. It was great! We got Lita a raincoat, and Dusty a new pillow bed. We got both of them new water and food bowls with a feeding mat, and some yummy duck bone treats.

44

That day, I also got pet insurance for Lita and Natasha (not Dusty because he's my brother's dog). I was pretty excited about it. Because we RSVP'd for the event they were holding, we got to get $25 off of the order. The rings look even better in person! (we picked them out online.) We even got matching earrings and a necklace for my ring. Of course we won't wear any of the jewelry until our renewal in 2013!

Also, I was going through boxes in storage, and found an iTunes gift certificate ... Sat, 21 Apr 2012 00:10:35 EST 3rd Prize for my Zombie Rider!

At HobbyTown USA, we have model contests. I decided to enter one for fun. This was one of three models a customer donated. Guess he didn't want them. I turned this '29 Ford Pickup into a zombified vehicle. Think Kitt, but cooler. Because it's a zombie, it needs brains. The back of the pickup has a pile of brains it's been collecting to eat. Yum!

<img src=" Wed, 18 Apr 2012 22:13:21 EST Early Easter Present! Fri, 6 Apr 2012 00:36:25 EST More Progress on the Nutrition Front For that past few days, I've either been just under my calorie max or just a little over. That may not sound great, but it's a lot better than how I was doing before. I'm very happy about my progress and plan to keep going at it until I'm within my calorie range -- maybe even get away from the high end!

265 Wed, 28 Mar 2012 11:23:29 EST Little Progress is Better than No Progress This week, I did a little better with the calories. I'm still a little over. But overall, my calorie intake for the week wasn't "bad". I'm still working on getting it down a little more, and scheduling more planning when it comes to my food!

301 Sun, 25 Mar 2012 14:07:07 EST Too Many Calories! For the past few weeks, I've been having problems with overeating. I've been eating more past my "satisfied" level. I've been having more, "Hey, I'm full, but I'd still like to eat" thoughts. It's crazy! Thankfully, I haven't really been gaining weight because of my exercise routine. I haven't lost either, but I'm not worried about that at all. I need to find better foods to keep me full longer, rather than putting all this junk in my tummy!

4 Fri, 16 Mar 2012 16:46:25 EST Carrion Crown I'm really excited about running the Carrion Crown campaign, but haven't read everything yet. It should start next week, so I still have a good amount of time to get the reading out of the way. I've only tried DMing one other time, but I ended it when the other players started acting very rude to us. This time, it's with people we know and like, so I know it'll go well. I'm super duper excited! I can't wait!

480 Mon, 12 Mar 2012 18:26:10 EST Down 20 lbs., 15 lbs. to Go! Last week, I weighed in at 140 lbs.! I've been literally shedding lbs.! How crazy! I can even see a difference. My face, midsection, and thighs are slightly thinner. Not to mention my clothes fit less snug.

9 Tue, 6 Mar 2012 18:34:54 EST If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. I haven't been doing or keeping in touch as much as I usually do because a couple of weeks ago, Irvine, my green iguana, passed away. I'm sorry to all of those who haven't been hearing much from me. I'm not ignoring you! Just been a little down.

We rushed him to our vet on the 20th last month when his breathing and movements slowed. He was already eating less and drinking tons of water. We dropped him off to get him stabilized before trying to treat him. Well, not even 10 minutes ... Tue, 6 Mar 2012 18:17:37 EST Halfway There! 3 weeks ago, I did my usual Friday weigh-in, and saw that I was at 142 lbs! That's halfway to my goal weight! I'm super stoked!!!

334 Tue, 6 Mar 2012 17:08:57 EST I've Found My Plateau Crushers I've lost a pound a week for the past 3 weeks before this one. What have I changed? A few things actually.

1) I've been eating MORE.

Before, I was still eating between the 1200-1550 calorie range that was working for me at the beginning of my program. Because of all the strength training and cardio I was doing, that was no good for me anymore.

2) Going to work and my scheduled runs are no longer the same exercise.

I would do my runs to work, and th... Sat, 11 Feb 2012 12:13:13 EST I've Lost! I went down 2 lbs. this past week even though I've taken a break from running. That's right. A break. I was pretty sore from running the week before, so I decided to postpone the last week of my Rookie Running Program to this week. I suspect that I exercised a little too much that week. According to my fitness tracker, I burned 1,724 calories! How did I manage to do that?! That almost surpassed my goal by double! So, I chilled out a little this past week. I only did the Blackeyed Peas Experie... Sun, 22 Jan 2012 19:18:58 EST Blackeyed Peas, Fruit Ninja, Sofabed, Organization, January Jumpstart, Diet, & Irvine's Appt. I've been playing a game my husband got me for Christmas, The Blackeyed Peas Experience for the Kinect. It's great! I've been getting really good workouts in, and it's SUPER FUN! It's like Rock Band where you can customize your character and unlock outfits, accessories, venues, etc. The more fans you get the more you unlock! So I've customized the crap out of my character!
335 335 335

I've also been playing my husband's Fruit Ninja. This game is ... Sat, 14 Jan 2012 09:38:22 EST Job & School Last month, I was planning on finding a part-time job to add onto the one I already have or finding a new job altogether that would give me full-time if my current job didn't keep me on full-time. However, I have decided that I'll stick with this one and finish up my associate's in Computer Studies! I'm going to sign up for classes soon. I'm really excited to just get this out of the way!

At the same time, I'm still going to work on my healthy lifestyle change! 150
... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 11:30:26 EST Mandy's 2011 Review Blog Wow, I can't believe how fast 2012 is coming; it's tomorrow! So much has happened this year that it's hard to believe it all happened in the same year! Where do I start? In the beginning of this year, my husband, dog, cat, and I were living in Okinawa. I was part of Sparkpeople for almost a year towards the end of our stay. I was trying hard to eat healthy and exercise regularly. It wasn't working out too well because of the stress of our marriage and James getting kicked out of the military ... Sat, 31 Dec 2011 07:59:42 EST Mandy's December Review Blog I'd have to say that although I didn't eat within my calorie range that well, I did manage to fit exercise in pretty well. Also, I've managed to lose 3 lbs! I'd say that's pretty good since I haven't been eating as healthy as I should be. I find the nutrition aspect to be the most difficult to change. Today, as I type this, my calves are aching from my run yesterday. I think I sped it up a little too much. LOL. In conclusion, I did better than I thought I would through the holiday season! YA... Thu, 29 Dec 2011 16:07:49 EST Polyhedral X-mas Boxes
For Christmas this year, I took 20+ hours making dice boxes to wrap my husbands gifts. A lot of patience was needed, and a lot of mistakes were made, but I finally finished them on Christmas morning! He absolutely loved them! He appreciated the time I spent on his gifts, and did I mention that they're DICE! Too cool! They turned out very good. The only thing is that from a certain angle, you can tell that the d20 is lopsi... Mon, 26 Dec 2011 11:35:18 EST Irvine's Appt. We took Irvine to the vet yesterday. It was mainly for the yearly check-up, but, also, we were worried about one of his toes, wrists, and his dewlap. He hasn't been shedding that well in those areas. His skin has thickened from all the accumulated shedding that won't come off. The doctor suspects that the fungus he had on his toe hasn't gone away, and that it has even infected the bone. The fungus isn't on his wrist or dewlap anymore though. We're going to use Kerasal, as the doctor suggested... Sat, 17 Dec 2011 09:06:33 EST Mandy's Mid-Month Check Blog Wow, I can't believe we're already halfway through with December! There are defintely plenty of things that I wish I had gotten done. I wanted to get back into strength training, drink 8 cups of water a day, stay under or at my max calorie range, consume less sodium, and eat more fruits and vegetables. I have improved my water consumption, but not much in the other areas I've mentioned. However, I have been working on my 5K Rookie Running Plan. I haven't missed a day yet, so that's great! I m... Thu, 15 Dec 2011 07:36:35 EST Being a Better Iguana Mommy I know I haven't been doing my best in taking care of my green iguana, Irvine. I hardly take him out for fear of his toes losing circulation from the fibers in the carpet. But, I need to figure out a way for him to be able to roam, at least, my room! His cage isn't big enough, and we can't afford a huge cage for him. Then, I don't want to put him in an outside cage either because of the dry heat or the cold winters we get. Las Vegas isn't exactly tropical.

I've been trying to think... Tue, 4 Jan 2011 09:21:01 EST A New Year to Better Myself! This year, I'm actually excited about my resolutions! Usually, when I do my resolutions, I feel like I'm just dreaming; like none of it is going to come true. I think to myself, "You never achieve any of your goals. Why do you even bother?" I always put down losing weight first. Then, some learning-something-new goal. And an organizational goal.

How do I know I'm going to do it this time? What's different? Well, in 2010, I've already lost 15 lbs! Also, I have been learning tons of... Sat, 1 Jan 2011 09:48:22 EST Horrible News! Yesterday, my husband and I went to the doctor for his Behcet's Syndrome. We've been dreading this appointment for a while because this was the day that our doctor was going to give us the news on his overall health.

He told us that his blood tests, eyes, and organs looked fine. However, if we choose to get him on medication that would halt the progression of the disease, he'll be dicharged from the military. We were very afraid of this. We walked out off the room crying. Obviously... Thu, 14 Oct 2010 04:57:56 EST Reboot All the Way! A couple of weeks ago, I was shoulders deep in missed exercises, water intake, and other goals I had. I was trying to make up for August in September! How crazy! I felt overloaded, so getting in shape wasn't fun anymore.

One day, I read about resetting goals, and that it's OKAY. I was so off track that I couldn't possibly catch-up without exhausting my body. I realized that this was exactly what I needed! So, I reset my goals, took off a few other goals, and reset my streaks!
... Tue, 12 Oct 2010 08:40:28 EST 1st Skinny Cow Treat! One day, we had to buy some necessities from a convenient store because we just ran out of things we need and our next grocery shopping trip was in a week. While we were there, I glanced at the freezer full of frozen goodies, and saw Skinny Cow vanilla ice cream sandwiches! I just had to try one since I've been seeing ads advertising them all over SparkPeople for being low in calories, and I'm part of "I Deserve a Treat Because..." team! I asked my husband if I can grab one, and he picked a s... Mon, 9 Aug 2010 07:07:18 EST I've Sparked My Significant Other! I'm super excited because he wanted to join, so I sent him an invite! He's been on for a couple of days, and absolutely loves it so far! The point system that they have really motivates him because he likes to game. So, he tries to max out his points and such by reading and doing healthy things. Also, because we're both on it, we can hold each other accountable better! For example, one of us could say, "Hey, I see you didn't get any points for that. Maybe you should (drink more water, read an... Thu, 29 Jul 2010 02:34:00 EST Doing good so far! I've noticed that I'm having some muscle coming in! Also, when I initially signed up, I weighed around 160, and now it's around 155! Pretty sweet, right? I've also had more energy to do things, and be more productive with my days. I haven't "had" to take a nap once within these past two weeks. Once my fast break goals become a routine for one week, I plan on moving up to Stage 2! I've been using the workout videos by Nicole, drinking plenty of water, walking my dog, and looking up inspiration... Fri, 16 Jul 2010 08:35:07 EST
