But today just isn't the best day to exercise.
What do you do when you're feeling sick?
I had a lot of gardening lined up today and I have done a tiny fraction.
Guess I should have taken some wipes with me for the shopping cart handles at the plant store. I've got an ear infection and a cold. Just feel punky and icky. Not that sick, though.
But did get a few things out of the way. I'm tracking, again... but this time is a bit different.
They switched surgeons on me, thankfully. This new one is very up front and blunt and I appreciate that. Still no pre-ops so I decided to try the post op diet without the surgery until I get it. Today was day one.
Of course it's quite similar to what I eat when the gastritis is really bad, so this puree and shake thing is not unfamiliar to me.
So far I've lost 50 lbs since last May, mostly on Paleo. I miss tacos.

Need to figure out how to make "nutrition notes" for other things than GERD. I do have those, but I would like to have something generalized or for tracking food allergies. I tried to start a note thing on my kindle on a different diet program and it just won't save things properly. Ron's daughter's mother in law's mother is dying, and Ronnie spent half the day with her and her husband, just visiting and chatting. They're lovely people. It was kind of him. I missed him but he has to work anyway, tonight, and so he would have been sleeping.

I stayed home to cook, instead, and stay with Raud. I put a small turkey in, and baked it slowly. Thu, 28 Nov 2013 23:59:14 EST Have a blessed and thankful Thanksgiving, everyone! We had ours a day early, due to family conflicts with Ron's daughter. I'll still be cooking a turkey breast for us, today. It was very nice to go with her. I did eat turkey and green beans, and made a nice pumpkin mousse that was sugarless, grainless and organic. Ron and Raud and I ate it. The grandson was nice enough to say he liked it, but they did have real pie, after all, and I can't compete with that! Not trying to. But I thought it came out really good and I don't feel deprived at all, ... Mon, 11 Nov 2013 01:02:31 EST Bird Seed Warning! Birds face many man-made mortal threats: windows, cats, habitat destruction, even climate change. And now, there's poison—in their bird seed.

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company had been in the habit of applying banned pesticides to its wild bird food products. In particular, the company applied a chemical known as Storcide II to its bird food despite a warning label for that product that reads "Storcide II is extremely toxic to fish and toxic to birds and other wildlife."

Wh... Mon, 13 May 2013 15:17:36 EST Just in to say hi My apologies to those who have been worried about my not logging in and not posting on SP.

I just have been having migraines every day, sometimes more than one for several hours daily since the 13th of June. The pain has made my b/p go up which is damaging my heart, according to the doctor, as apparently as now I have CHF. I've been to the doctor, (got stronger pain meds), then a week later went to the ER as I was having swelling that was not going down despite Lasix. Got more med... Sun, 8 Jul 2012 06:11:59 EST Not catching up very quickly... Caught a virus last week. I guess at the GI doc's? Ronnie came down with it at the same time. Upper respiratory, and then GI... and a horrible headache. Mine turned into a migraine sometime around five or six days ago and I've been trying hard to get it to go away. The pain has my b/p up and the doctor is worried about that and wants me on Topomax, which has some horrific side effects that are almost as bad as some migraines, so I am also worried about that. Meds and I don't seem to do too we... Sat, 23 Jun 2012 00:34:30 EST Speaking of side effects... Ron just came in with the medications the doctor ordered for my nausea. He doesn't want me to keep on with the ginger as he feels it may be irritating the stomach more.

So I have two new drugs he wants me to take. One interferes with Dopamine and can cause a syndrome that is permanent that is very like Parkinson's Disease, which my mother died with. The other interferes with Seratonin, affects heart rhythm, is linked to sudden death syndromes, and I probably can't take that with t... Tue, 12 Jun 2012 20:17:44 EST Checking in Sorry I haven't been online much.
I haven't been feeling well. Gastritis is worse which gives me pain, headaches and nausea. Had a couple of doctor's appointments, too. They didn't offer much help, which is frustrating.
Plus reading up on the fosamax the doctor is offering me for osteopenia, I find that it can actually cause thigh fractures. So why bother risking all the side effects? Not happy about that. Ronnie already told me that he doesn't want me to take any of the meds for i... Mon, 28 May 2012 19:36:52 EST Catching up a bit... A few words of catching up here. I've been offline more, until today. I might not be on at all tomorrow, so I figured I'd better say something. Some people are thinking I've gone missing and I'm not. Sun, 27 May 2012 23:55:53 EST Dreaming It seems that with my illnesses, I've changed. My dreams are more vivid. I know I spend more time in dreams. I sleep more some weeks than others. I drop off at the drop of a hat, sometimes with no reason or warning, which annoys Ronnie. Sometimes the need to sleep overwhelms me, and I've already slept so long. But it's not quite narcolepsy, I think? Then there are times I hardly sleep at all, usually during those times when I feel somewhat healthier. I don't always sleep long, but often when ... Sat, 19 May 2012 20:22:34 EST Allergies... I'm finding a few interesting links on allergies. Putting them here for my own reference, but some of you dealing with similar problems might find them interesting, and I would love discussing them - and your personal experiences, any time.

The allergic response engages the body’s inflammatory cascade, and that’s one reason it has such serious health effects. Allergic reactions are recognized as one of the most important causes of illness and disease in America. This article goes o... Sun, 13 May 2012 23:13:20 EST Mother's Day Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there who celebrates it today. I know that it is in March in the UK.

Today is a better day. Yesterday I am not even sure what set off the allergic reaction. I am now wondering if it is something in the spice blend that we use for a salt substitute. (Kirkland Organic). Wasn't pretty. Yet more benedryl and I slept all night and woke up at 6 am, which was great! I'm still up and clearer headed than I've been all week. I do feel better. I just haven'... Sun, 13 May 2012 19:12:09 EST Really Saturday... Well, I am getting over the doctor's behavior at my endoscopy. He's a jerk. That's probably why he has the Clinical Nurse specialist do most of his patient contact.

I'm still in a lot of pain but it's better than yesterday... except I've gone and eaten something that set off the allergy reaction, and I'm not sure what it is. I took some benedryl and that's helping but it's also making me sleepy.

1 - Exercise? I'm on the rebounder, again. Two minutes at a time. At least... Sat, 12 May 2012 20:09:38 EST Endoscopy I had the endoscopy. The doctor that did the last one came in to do this one, and asked me why I was getting it??? And he's my doctor and his clinical nurse specialist is the one that ordered it. And when I told him it was because I am in pain and the meds are not working, and the prilosec gave me osteopenia, (which I just found is the reason why I get stress fractures and they aren't healing)... and then he laughed at me.

I don't know if with my hearing I'm missing something here ... Sat, 12 May 2012 06:18:58 EST What should be Wednesday's post... I'm running a day late and several dollars short, obviously. I am so sorry.

Thanks to all of you who have been leaving kind and helpful comments. I deeply appreciate your support. I'll catch up when the benedryl wears off.

Found another allergy. Gads, I decided to add another food,, so I had a bit of peanut butter on toast. Big mistake! The inside of my mouth just peeled off and I'm in a lot of pain, mostly stomach and esophagus. I've taken enough Benedryl to really knoc... Thu, 10 May 2012 07:22:22 EST Tuesday (OK it's Wednesday but that's only because I fell asleep...) Saw the doctor. He ordered an allergy blood panel. I have no idea how many foods are covered on that but I'll find out more later. It will save some time, at least, and some worry. Hopefully, anyway.

X ray results were mixed. Arthritis is actually BETTER, thanks to good ol' Osteo Bi Flex. It does work. The osteopath was talking about wanting to do a right knee replacement 20 years ago. Wed, 9 May 2012 05:48:12 EST Monday Team Challenge summary 1 - Goal is 10 minutes on the rebounder daily.
The reality is that today I got in about 1 1/2 minutes before my leg started hurting. I guess the stress fracture is not quite healed. The rebounder is pretty low impact though so I pushed on a bit. Got in 4 minutes. That's about 480 steps. Really not what I wanted to manage, but it's a start. I can remember when I could barely get two minutes in so I am not going to complain too much.
Not sure how much I will get done tomorrow as I h... Tue, 8 May 2012 00:13:46 EST Team Challenge #1. My goal is... Going back to the rebounder daily and try to work back up to at least ten minutes a day.

#2. Making a menu? That is too easy on this exclusion diet. I am back to three things... Apples, rice and chicken. Fresh strawberries are now on my "no" list. :(

Tingling rapidly became much worse. Burning throat. Nausea within 20 minutes. Ugh. I got really sick within about an hour. Took benedryl and was still burning and hurting when I woke up.

I know that strawberries are a very common fruit to be allergic to, but really... Fri, 4 May 2012 04:54:20 EST Hanging in there... Heading into day five on this elimination diet. Feeling better. A lot of my pain is easing off... Not sure if it is from the benedryl or from the meds or maybe, just maybe, from having eliminated something I'm allergic to and didn't realize it.
And I think that it may be the latter. I suspect dairy, though right now I'm not eating too many different foods.

I just added chicken and avocados today, since I wasn't getting protein on three days of rice bread, rice and apple juic... Tue, 1 May 2012 07:46:05 EST Weekend Well, the legs are starting to feel a bit better. Had an Xray but since stress fractures rarely show up on them, I doubt if anyone will see anything.

The GI doc was not really that helpful but I have an endoscopy and bone scan coming up this next month, thanks to the nurse there. She listens. She doesn't always know what to tell me to do but she's darn good. Doctor's appointments, that is.
The nurse practitioner that I saw yesterday did write for another endoscopy and also for a bone scan to see if the proton pump inhibitors perhaps are the real cause of the shin splints and the possible stress fractures. I've also got pain in between my shoulder blades on my spine that started while doing the resistance bands, which kind of leaves me without options for exercise for awhile, until I find out what is going on. An excerpt from the article:
"Perhaps the most neglected group is that large portion of untreated celiac patients who are obese. Dr. Dickey found that obesity is more common than being underweight among those with untreated celiac disease.
