SER-I-OUS-LY??!?! I'm doing everything right and nothing is changing!! AAAHHHH!!! I had a whole plan of attack for January to bust through this plateau including ramping up the cardio(did it...all... Sat, 31 Jan 2009 19:12:56 EST Bootcamp Challenge Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1725361 Bootcamp is going well. I've enjoyed learning the different exercises in the short videos. They've given me some new ideas and uses for my stability ball. I've been trying to get up and do them in the morning before work b/c I run or do Wii Fitness Coach in the afternoon (plus I like the idea of getting my heart rate jump started in the morning), but I've been hit or miss with that. It's only 10 minutes earlier, but 10 minutes at 5:30 AM is a LIFETIME since I'd rather be sleeping. I'm ge... Wed, 21 Jan 2009 17:45:56 EST SERIOUSLY?!?!?? I HATE my scale! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1680227 So the goal this week was to bust through this 3 month plateau. I've picked strength training back up after several months of missing it through doing the wii fitness coach workouts and SP Bootcamp workouts (which I've been getting up 15 minutes earlier each morning to complete... not an easy thing for this night owl). I've been trying to eat a more balanced diet (more protein/fat less carbs... it's been taking a lot of time for me to plan meals differently). What has all this hard work an... Fri, 9 Jan 2009 22:24:15 EST PLATEAU: (n) a period or state of little or no growth or decline http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1650524 3 months...

That's how long I've gained and lost the same 2-3 lbs. UGH! I only want to lose about 5 more lbs. then I plan to switch over to maintenance, but my stupid body won't let me get there. I just spent the last hour reading about plateau busters, etc. and have come to the following plan:
- continue same running program... 4 days per week (M,W,F,S)... slowly building
- 30 minute My Fitness Coach session on T/TH
- complete New YOU Bootcamp (runs and MFC shou... Sun, 4 Jan 2009 00:02:19 EST What a DAY! Heck, what a YEAR! 1st 10K Race!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1555790 So a couple of weeks ago was my 1 year spark-iversary and earlier this week was officially one year since I started the C25K program and began my journey of becoming a runner. What better way to celebrate a year of moving towards a healthier lifestyle than to run my longest race yet (only my third race ever)... a 10K? Well that's what I did today!! AND I ran it at under a 10 min. per mile pace !!! I was SO proud. A year ago I couldn't run for 3 minutes straight let alone 6.2 miles at a 1... Sat, 8 Nov 2008 19:35:17 EST I rocked the Flat 5's face off!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1377882 So I ran my 2nd race ever this morning (first was a 5K back in April... I'd love to run more b/c I LOVE race day atmosphere, but I just can't justify dropping $20 every other weekend for a T-shirt ;-)). It was a 5 mile race on a mostly flat course. I'm a slower runner, so I told myself going into it that I'd be really happy with anything under 55 minutes (that'd mean I averaged an 11 min. mile)... that I'd be okay with getting between 55 minutes and 60 minutes and that over 60 minutes was N... Set up the new one, it doesn't work either... so i have to take that back to the store (YAY). That same afternoon, our cable modem power cord goes out so no internet (hubby went and got a new cable and all was fixed relatively quickly). Now today I go to do some laundry (b/c we leave Sat. for a 4 day trip to WV to see the hubby's grandparents) and I notice the floor in front of the washer is damp... Wed, 23 Jul 2008 19:45:26 EST New Run Training Log Online- I'm in LOVE! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1329537 So I'm sure lots of people know about this already, but I just discovered it earlier this week.... on www.runnersworld.com (a website I've been to many times) at the top of the page click on 'training log'. You'll have to sign up to be able to use it (it's free), but it's a GREAT way of keeping track of what you're doing on your runs.

I keep reading books about running and they all say to keep a journal detailing your runs (how far, when, where, how you felt, etc.). While I und... Sat, 12 Jul 2008 18:03:58 EST A new Running Plan! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1314325 Well... I had my whole training planned out and now I'm changing it! But it's a good thing. With my runs getting longer... I can no longer dedicate an hour 3 times a week to running during the week... it's just a lot of time on the treadmill (I can physically do it... but I'm bored). So I'm going to a more official training program based off of some of Hal Higdon's plans that has 3 shorter runs during the week and just 1 long run on the weekends. It's an extra day of running, but overall... Sat, 5 Jul 2008 23:47:05 EST Back from Vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1283490 Well... I'm back from Greece. We've been back for 2 days and I'm getting right back on track. I've been tracking my food again and getting back to running 3 days a week.

I did my official weigh in today and I put on 2.5-3 lbs. So not too bad! As long as 1 of those pounds in gone by next week, I think I can deal with that. We went of 5 of the 6 runs I had scheduled while there... some of them weren't quite as long as they should have been, but we did A LOT of walking while si... Fri, 20 Jun 2008 19:44:49 EST Off to Greece! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1240653 Well... here we go! We leave for Greece in one more day! That's 16 days of no calorie/ food tracker! It's also 16 days of foreign, restaurant food! AH! I think I'm reading to stay on top of my running (I'll need to fit in 6 runs while I'm there), but I'm worried about the food. I'll be OK if I gain 5 lbs... I'll be happy if I gain 2 or 3... I'll be ecstatic if I maintain or... GASP! continue to lose! I know this is a life change and not a diet and that life requires me to leave my me... Sat, 31 May 2008 18:35:30 EST What the heck?!???! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1153642 So... I've been losing a lb. a week since November. I've had 1 or 2 weeks when I stayed the same... but that's it. It's been steady. Even recently, with my calorie range set to lose only half a pound a week, I still lost a lb. week.

Well, this week... I gained 1. I could understand if I was eating brownies and ice cream all week, but I was within my calorie range!! I even did an extra workout this week!! UGH! Best I can hope is that maybe last weigh in was an especially lo... I'm moving on! Time to train for a 10K!! So I'm clearing out my old training schedule from my sparkpage, but I didn't want to lose it forever, so I'm saving here as a blog. Sat, 5 Apr 2008 17:44:08 EST STUPID MATH!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1055896 So I'm happy and mad all at the same time right now. Let me explain why... I'm currently on Week 9 of Couch to 5k and I can jog for 30 minutes straight (YAY ME!), but I don't go the distance of 3.1 miles in that time b/c I run about a 12 minute mile. That's OK with me. Next week I'm scheduled to start running more than 30 minutes each time so that eventually, I'll hit the 36/37 ish mark and therefore be at the 3.1 mi. mark as well.

Well, today, I get on the treadmill for my 30 m... Wed, 5 Mar 2008 17:06:19 EST To get another dog... or not... that's the question... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1028290 So I'm an idiot... I already have a wonderful dog. She's perfect! Not destructive, patient, snuggly and cute. So what do I want?? To mess up that flow of course! I LOVE animals and would have a whole house full of dogs if my house/yard/life was big enough. Just b/c I can't have them though, doesn't mean I don't like to dream. So stupid me got on petfinder and there's a little boy poodle who needs a home. I swear he is my dog's twin separated at birth from the way the shelter is descri... Fri, 22 Feb 2008 17:16:21 EST The Deli can be DANGEROUS! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=997190 Couple of things...
First of all... we went out to eat with my DH's family last night b/c it was his birthday. After waiting for over 30 minutes at his favorite local italian restaurant and being treated rather rudely... we left and headed to McAlister's Deli. I was partially a little happy... I mean, how much easier is it to eat 'safely' at a deli than an italian restaurant. So I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that came with honey mustard and mayo and had them hold the mayo and ... Sat, 9 Feb 2008 10:39:36 EST WAH! No more intervals!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=978854 So I'm moving on to Week 7 of Couch to 5K next week. That means long runs 3 days a week from here on out! AAAHHHH!!! Even though I'd like to stay on Week 6 one more week (today's 25 minute run was harder than I'd like)... when I made my schedule I decided to only do week 6 twice and no more, so I'll be moving on come Monday!

For the record, I'd like to state how HAPPY I am with the C25K program. It's taken me around 12 weeks to get to week 7 (that's right... almost twice as lon... Fri, 1 Feb 2008 21:45:48 EST Set a new goal... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=864961 When I first started Spark in late October... my original goal was 154 by the end of January (I was thinking 8 lbs. in 3 months... with all the holidays... I'd be happy!). Well, guess who made it to her goal already?!! I had to set a new goal today!! I set it for losing .5 lbs. a week b/c I'm afraid of the dreaded plateau that I've avoided so far! I'm hoping with increasing difficulty on my couch to 5k program from week to week, I'll continue to increase calorie burning and avoid the plat... Mon, 17 Dec 2007 20:11:31 EST AAHHHH!! The world is trying to sabotage me!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=850451 So, I'm looking ahead to next week and realizing how busy I'm going to be... and then I realize... I'm potentially going to have to eat out 4 times next week!!! On top of that... I'm going to have my monthly friend visiting (which always messes with my cravings and numbers on the scale). It's just not going to be a good week!!
Sunday, I'm going to see a show with my parents, husband, and brother... which should be fun. My husband, however, wants to go out to eat afterwards at one of o... Tue, 4 Dec 2007 21:50:43 EST I've gotta get a new scale... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=845550 Well, it's been a week or two since my last blog, so I figured I'm due. I really feel like things are going well. I weighed in again to day and I've lost another pound. That's 1 pound a week for 5 weeks. The reason I need a new scale is that I'm using one I paid $5 at Target and WOW can it fluctuate. I can stand on it one minute and have it say '160'... get off... see that it's not 'zeroed'... zero it... get back on... see '157'... get off... try again to confirm... '157'. It's ridiculo... Fri, 30 Nov 2007 18:52:39 EST BRING IT ON THANKSGIVING!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=832972 Just a little update blog...
I started Week 3 of the Couch to 5k program today. I never thought 3 minutes of running at a time could be that hard (when did I get SO out of shape??), but I made it through!
Today's run/walk was all a part of my attack on Thanksgiving!! I'm going to add in a workout tomorrow (maybe a bellydancing video or a short walk outside... it's supposed to be 75 degrees here tomorrow!!)... for the past 3 weeks I've just been doing 3 times a week, but I'm addi... Mon, 19 Nov 2007 19:10:19 EST It's been almost 3 weeks... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=822078 Well, I think I officially came back to Sparkpeople 10/22... so it's been almost 3 weeks of me "trying to be good" (I don't say diet... I don't like that word! :-)
I feel like it's been going well. WOW does it take a lot of work though (I know, I know... creating bad habits takes a lot less time than breaking them). I've lost a pound a week since my first weigh in 2 weeks ago (although... my weight can fluctuate 5 lbs within a single day, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt and tryin... Sat, 10 Nov 2007 18:31:10 EST So it begins again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=808081 Well, so much for that summer weight loss. That didn't happen! I've been back on Spark people for about a week and a half and i have been tracking my food daily ever since (which I'm VERY proud of). When I averaged last week's calories I averaged out within my calorie range, so I was happy about that. What I'm not happy about is my lack of exercise. I put in SP that I would work out 3 times a week 30 min. each time and that has NOT happened. I haven't worked out seriously in weeks. Th... Tue, 30 Oct 2007 22:36:33 EST GGRRRR... A COLD IN MAY?!?! Seriously?!?! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=571741 So I just decided to kind of ease my way into this whole healthy living thing a few days ago (I'm easing in until summer vacation when I will have more time to get my butt in gear... the end of the school year is just SO busy) and low and behold... I catch a horrible cold. I'm all stuffy and tired. So much for exercising like I wanted to! I guess I'll continue to track my nutrition (which I wasn't planning on completely changing, but rather scaling back), but seeing as how I don't want to ... Tue, 22 May 2007 19:41:05 EST Ready or not... here I go!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=566246 Well, let's hope this is the beginning of something good! I wish I could say that I had some kind of epiphany that made me want to shed a few pounds, but I didn't. I've just been letting myself go... slowly but surely... for the past 2 or 3 years. I was SO healthy in college... I worked out at least 4 times a week, I didn't eat TOTALLY healthy, but I wasn't raiding the cookie jar like I do now!! Then, I started my student teaching! That's when it all started going downhill. If anyone ou... Fri, 18 May 2007 22:00:04 EST
