I knew the call would eventually come and I doubt if anyone is 100% ready, unless their loved one had a lengthy illness or a serious accident.

My brother treated everything as a business transaction . I felt his emotions yet he did his best to hide them.

I officiated the graveside service. Over the years, I've mastered the "acting mode" when officiating funerals to help me sta... Fri, 28 Oct 2016 23:16:37 EST Onion Therapy - Does it really work? I have always been fascinated with homeopathic, natural things.............

Recently, I heard that onions absorb toxins...........and that if someone is sick (cough, cold, flu) to halve an onion and leave it out in the sick person's room and that the onion absorbs the illness.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

I have also heard of Onion Socks where you slice an onion and put it inside your sock before bed to pull out toxins from your body.

Anyone... Mon, 2 Feb 2015 08:45:34 EST My Super Hero Strength My Super Hero Strength seems to come in many different ways..........

I displayed super hero strength when an employee of mine was murdered. Fri, 31 Oct 2014 11:51:32 EST This Warrior is a Child (My Secret Identity) This Twila Paris song identifies who I am when my mask comes off. Being a pastor for so many years it's hard to let my guard down. I always feel like I have to remain strong when sometimes, on the inside, I am crumbling.

Since I retired a year ago, it seems like I'm more the "child" than the warrior. I don't necessarily like it but I guess it's either like a second childhood or it's the childhood I've had to stuff for so long.

The thing is, even pastors get wounde... Fri, 31 Oct 2014 08:47:37 EST Tweaking Me! AGAIN! I need to put a little more into this journey. Participating is fine but I need a more concrete plan; therefore, for the month of November, I will eat in calorie range at least 3 days a week. I will strive for more; however, as long as I do my three days, I will not beat myself up. I hope to increase this number; however, 3 days should be achievable and once I make that first 3..................that means I'm tracking. Tracking is the only way that I will know if I've done it.

... Mon, 27 Oct 2014 08:44:17 EST Today is a New Day! Some days are great while others I'd rather just crawl in a hole. But these days don't define who I am.

My past is my past and I believe that whatever I may have faced then will benefit me somehow, some way in the days ahead. But, my past does not define who I am.

Experiences that I've faced contribute to how I think and how I react; but they do not define who I am.

You've heard people say I'm rediscovering myself? Sat, 3 May 2014 14:06:37 EST Tweak 1001 I'm doing better on drinking my water!

Now that I've found my Walk Away the Pounds DVD, my current goal is to use it 3-5 days a week.

I'm also doing better at not skipping breakfast. I'd like to continue that pattern and not skip more than twice a week! Sun, 2 Mar 2014 11:43:36 EST Making My Goal Work! Time to tweak my goals! Have been seeing spike in weight due to fluid overload; therefore, 8 glasses of water isn't practical for me. Gonna back down to 5-6 and see if that works better.

I'm working on not skipping meals. Trying to break the cycle.

And since I'm going to have to give the gym up, I'm striving for "do something rather than nothing", 20 minutes a day minimum! Sat, 22 Feb 2014 13:49:16 EST SMART GOAL I will drink 64 oz water a day, a minimum of 5 days a week for the remainder of the BLC.

I will begin tracking at least 3 days a week for the rest of the BLC.

I will go to the gym, no less than 3 days a week for the remainder of the BLC.

Why?

I know drinking water is beneficial to me and helps to push toxins out.
Tracking helps me know if I'm staying on track.
Going to the gym makes me feel better about myself and increases my endurance ... Sun, 19 Jan 2014 21:06:42 EST LIVING LIFE AS MY DOG I have decided that in 2014 I am going to begin patterning my life after my dogs.

One of my dogs has food allergies so I am very careful about what I allow her to have. I read labels carefully and if her food contains wheat, corn or soy I won't buy it.

So, in 2014, I am going to pay more attention to labels and pay more attention of sodium and fat content.

I have begun to look at some food that I used to love as not intended for me. I mean we've all seen scene selections and a carefully built set to capture a scripted moment but I doubt that we give much thought to what is behind the set and sort of dismiss the facade altogether.

That brings me to internals vs externals. Why is it others judge our depth based on what they see? I may be layered on the outside but that has nothing to do with who I am on the inside does it?

I am dealing with a personal facade. Fri, 6 Dec 2013 09:36:59 EST Dog Lover Advice Needed I have been staying with a friend who had to have breast cancer surgery. Last night we noticed her dog has a large lump in her groin. Took her to the vet today and when we turned Deja over the lump is red and she has some red off to the side which seems to be leading from the knee that had a tumor removed from it in August.

Deja seems to be a bit slower tonight so I asked my friend to recheck her groin. After checking through my clothes from Fri and Sat and no trace of my missing necklace, I remembered I had changed clothes Friday night into something warmer. So, I went to the sweatshirt I had worn and there in the neckline near the zipper was my necklace. Positive it was broken I pulled it out and it was intact. Must've slipped off when I changed for bed. Can't believe I went an entire day without it but so glad I have it back and in one piece! Sun, 10 Nov 2013 19:02:33 EST Bummed When I got to church today I realized my cross necklace was missing from my neck. I love that necklace. A very good friend gave it to me approximately 15 years ago for my birthday and it holds so many sentimental feelings. I know I was wearing it on Friday. I rarely remove it unless I have a test at the hospital.

Anyway, as soon as I got home from church I checked my nightclothes and the clothes I wore Fri/Sat. No necklace. Fri, 11 Oct 2013 12:34:24 EST End of Challenge Re-Evaluation This has been a challenging round as I've dealt with some personal issues. I have managed to stick to the gym and took up water aerobics.
