STEVIEBEE569's SparkPeople Blog STEVIEBEE569's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community 5% Weight Loss Challenge I joined my company's 5% Weight Loss Challenge. We started in January and it ends on Friday, April 22nd. I met my goal and still going. But, what I'm most proud of is my co-workers. We have collectively almost loss 100 pounds. I'm very proud of each and every one of them, because this weight loss journey is not an easy journey. Also, it's nice that we're doing this as a group, even though everyone is doing something different. I'll give an update at the end of the challenge. 30 Fri, 1 Apr 2016 14:48:50 EST I'm a Marathoner Today, I ran my first Full Marathon. It has to be one of the most challenging things I've ever done. The race had hills. Temptation to run the 10K, since it started at the same time as the Full (the Half started an hour later). There was wind & rain. The plantar fasciitis flared up at mile #15. But, despite the challenge, I finished the race in a little over 6 hours. I'm very proud of this accomplishment, but I'm not too sure I want to do another one. LOL

] <img src="http://photos... Sat, 19 Sep 2015 17:59:55 EST Feeling Accomplished From my last blog on August 4th, I indicated that I have been nervous about my upcoming first Full Marathon. This past weekend, I finally tackled my 18-miler training run. It was so better running with my running buddy who only ran 9.5 miles, but it was great having her company. For the remainder of the run, I did it by myself. I even ran 5 hill intervals during my 18-miler, because the marathon does have a few hills in it. Additionally, I tried a new strategy of running 4 minutes and walking... Tue, 18 Aug 2015 09:46:35 EST Nervous, but will Persevere This past Sunday was my long run. I was suppose to run 18 miles, but ended up running over 15 miles. My first 12 miles were fine, but then the plantar fasciitis flared up really badly. I ended up walking the last 3 miles in pain. I haven't felt pain like that since my first Half Marathon in November 2013. As I was walking back to my car, the tears started to come down my face, because I was starting to wonder why did I sign up for this Full Marathon in September. Fear, doubt and anxiety overt... Tue, 4 Aug 2015 13:51:39 EST Next Challenge Yesterday was my birthday. I cannot believe the things I've accomplished in these past few years. There is no way I would have thought I would completed one Half Marathon in my lifetime. However, as of last weekend, I've completed 21 Half Marathons. Now, I'm about to embark on a new journey. I officially signed up for my first Full Marathon in September. I'm doing the Air Force Marathon. My training starts next week.

<img src=" Sat, 9 May 2015 12:36:21 EST North Carolina Race On Sunday, I ran my Lucky #13 state: North Carolina. I actually met another Sparkpeople member, who was nice enough to pick me up and drop me off. I didn't have a personal best, but it was the best Rock and Roll races I've completed. The dedication to the military was great and the spectators were awesome. The hills of Raleigh were crazy, but I finished and that's all that matters.

<img src="http://phot... Tue, 14 Apr 2015 16:30:25 EST Trying to get motivated Well, today starts a new month: April. For the past few months, I totally lost my motivation, whether it eating better to running. I cannot pinpoint why and when my motivation left, but I am determined to get it back. Today, I started by eating better as well as getting a new training program around my running. Additonally, I gained over 10 pounds.

Along with losing my motivation, I had to step down from my first Full Marathon this month to the Half because I did not train for this... Wed, 1 Apr 2015 16:23:42 EST Testimony Tuesday

I was debating about sharing this pic, but I shared it with one of my running groups. I know quite a few family members, Facebook/Sparkpeople friends are trying to lose weight. Well, I pray my testimony will motivate you to start focusing on your health & fitness. I mean really focus on yourself, because you're so worth the time & effort. I've been on the weight loss roller coaster for a number of years. I would lo... Tue, 30 Sep 2014 18:01:18 EST A Little Disappointed Well, today, I would have been running my 11th Half Marathon in Nashville, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I wasn't able to attend. This Half Marathon was sponsored by Women's Running. Not only, would I have received a cute medal, I would have received a charm, because I ran the Rock-in-Roll Nashville race earlier this year. So, I'm a little disappointed.

Additionally, I'm on a few running pages on Facebook & I see a number of people running their first Half Marathon or their ... Sat, 27 Sep 2014 08:58:11 EST Running Journey Continued I continue to amaze myself with my running journey. This past weekend I ran back-2-back Half Marathons. Additionally, I continue to work on my goal of completing a Half Marathon in all 50 states. Well, I ran the Brewers' Mini Marathon in Wisconsin, which was the 6th state & I had my fastest time of 2:14:33 for the Half.

Then, Sunday, I ran the Detroit's Women's Half Marathon in Michigan, my 7th state. I ... Tue, 23 Sep 2014 18:53:11 EST Cannot Believe It This past weekend, I've had an amazing time with my running journey. Now, a few weeks ago I ran the Colts' Back to Football, where I ran a 27:15. This was a personal best for me. However, I was so disappointed because last year we received a medal for doing the race. I love bling. It reminds of that particular race & what I accomplished.

A friend asked me to do another 5K with & this one had a medal for the top 1000. I told her yes I would do the race. However, I didn't think I wo... Mon, 15 Sep 2014 10:33:10 EST Still Enjoying Life Despite having a cold for the past 3 days, which has put a snag in my workout plans, I refuse to let this deter me from enjoying life. I have accomplished so much in the past two months. For example, in both July & August, I completed over 100 miles. In July, I accomplished my 500 mile goal for the year and now, I have extended my mileage to finish the year with 800 miles. As of August 31st, I've completed over 600 miles.

Additionally, I ran my 8th Half Marathon of the year (10th ... Wed, 3 Sep 2014 12:48:44 EST Always Tell Your Loved One You Love Them Last night, my mother told me about the suicide of Robin Williams. Then, of course, it was all over social media. This news immediately sadden me and unfortunately, reminded me of my sister who committed suicide a number of years ago. There is not a day that goes by where I do not miss her like crazy. Additionally, the questions come back up: Why did she do what she did? What would she have become if she was still alive? These questions are torture for family members who lost a loved one to s... Tue, 12 Aug 2014 16:20:20 EST Feeling Accomplished With yesterday's long run, I meet my 2014 500-mileage goal. I'm so proud of myself. Running has made me feel more confident because I'm accomplishing more than I ever thought I would accomplish. For example, no one in their right mind would have told me that I would have ran 8 Half Marathons in less than a year timeframe and enjoy doing it. I had a personal best of a sub 2:20 with a goal of a sub 2:15 or 2:17 for the Half, a goal of a sub 0.59 for the 10K & a goal of a sub 0.30 for the 5K. <... Mon, 4 Aug 2014 15:17:47 EST Sometimes you have to take a look back How many times have you heard the following statement: Leave the Past in the Past? Well, I've heard this statement numerous times. However, today, I just finished reading some old Sparkpeople blogs from 2006 to present. The one thing I've noticed is the consistency I had during my Sparkpeople journey. Now, I don't mean consistency in a good way. I noticed that I would start a specific challenge that I have set for myself and would consistently not complete the darn thing. Ugh! This type of co... Fri, 1 Aug 2014 14:56:31 EST Happy 4th of July Well, today, I ran the Firecracker 6. This is a 6-mile race. I ran this race in memory of my grandmother who was born on the 4th of July. Love & Miss her greatly. But, I know she was smiling down on me today.

Last year, I ran a 4-mile race & struggled a bit. This year, with the 6-miler, I was hoping to get it done in under an ... Fri, 4 Jul 2014 14:24:04 EST Accountability Part Two Yesterday, I blogged about joining a group of ladies for 100 days to reach set goals. Within that post, I indicated that my main goals during these 100 days were to build muscle, tone up & eat clean. Of course my accountability partner called me out within the group and asked if I did my leg workout. Well, I just finished my leg workout. Additionally, I ate pretty well despite the cookies & pop/soda at work today & pizza yesterday. Also, believe it or not, but posting that blog yesterday put ... Thu, 12 Jun 2014 19:25:56 EST Accountability I joined a group of ladies who decided to achieve specified goals in 100 started last week on June 1st and will end on September 8th. I have few short-term goals, but my main goal for this duration is to build muscle, tone up, & get back into eating clean. However, when it comes to my strength training & eating clean, I tend to get too relaxed (not sure if that's the right word or not).

I've been involved with a number of fitness groups on Facebook as well as Sparkpeople, ... Wed, 11 Jun 2014 15:35:17 EST Tough, but It's Done Today, I ran my 4th Half Marathon in 51 days. Additionally, it's my 4th state of 50. Today was Indiana. My previous states were TN, KY, & OH. My long term goal is to do a Half Marathon in every state. Also, this month, I will be adding PA.

Also, at this race, I saw my Sparkfriend, Cindy. Sat, 7 Jun 2014 13:16:11 EST New Month New Goal In May, I set a running mileage goal of 70 miles. I'm proud to say that I made that goal as of yesterday with a total of 70.7 miles.

I posted my achievement on Facebook & stated that I was going to shoot for another 70-mile goal for June. Sun, 20 Apr 2014 07:53:43 EST So Far 2014 Well, it's a new month: March! I looked at my blog that I posted on Saturday, January 4th to see what my goals were for this year. I lost 45 pounds and started back running in May 2013. With my running, I ran quite a few races: a few 5Ks, 4-miler, 5-miler, 10K, and a 9-miler. However, I so surprised myself with doing 2 Half Marathons in November as well as December. I couldn't believe it. I shocked myself because I did it. WooHoo! Additionally, I had a few personal best with my running. My 5K personal best was 32:35. My 5-miler personal... I'm really trying to keep my cool about these crazy messages I have been receiving lately. First message was about my running group. Now, this one is about how I chose to motivate people. I don't get it. But the one thing I have to keep in mind is the fact that I cannot nor will not please everyone. Second, Black Girls Run is a group that promotes a healthy lifestyle and fitness amongst African Americ...
