For the past week and a half I have been using Dr. Furhman's ETL ( and they are wonderful. Yesterday I made Golden Austrian Cauliflower Cream Soup. Unbelievably good! To the leftovers today I added curry and it gave it a whole different taste. I am more determined now to use a little creativity in making all our meals special. Wed, 3 Oct 2012 18:16:38 EST No!! Not again!! Dang that knee!! It seems that every time I start on a new weight loss and exercise program I end up hurting something: knee, sciatic nerve, lower back, foot. You name it, it's been hurt. Well after a very good start, and not to mention having a great time on my new mountain bike, my knee gave out while doing my 8 day of 28-day challenge video. Nothing fancy just a little bit of shuffling of the feet. Boy talk about pain and weakness! Well this is where I would normal get so upset that I'd totally give up... Wed, 2 Mar 2011 11:21:07 EST Now I know how my dog, Oreo feels!! We went to Brazos Bend State Park yesterday and took our bikes with us. Rode several trails and ended up going for 1 hour with a 5 minute break in the middle. It was fabulous - it was sleeveless weather with a bit of a breeze. We were riding at a nice speed and I could feel the breeze in my face and I just had to laugh. I know this is exactly how our dog Oreo feels when she sticks her head out the window when we are driving in our car. That really is a smile on her face. Wow I feel like... Mon, 28 Feb 2011 14:57:49 EST Loving my bike rides - what a way to get your cardio in!! I hadn't ridden a bike in over 10 years. Quite frankly I didn't think I still could!! Hubby bought us a couple of really nice mountain bikes and found some beautiful trails and it is wonderful. The inclines and declines were scary but I was able to keep my balance and really enjoyed the ride. Looking forward to many more outings. Sat, 26 Feb 2011 20:45:47 EST My time flies... So much has happend since I last posted or even looked at Sparkspeople. My husband and I both retired, he ran for public office and won and life has just been crazy! We've been enjoying ourselves spending time together working hard in the community. Lots of fun and lots of food and I'm back to where I started. But that's okay. Sat, 19 Feb 2011 23:26:10 EST The hardest part of being Vegan for me. The most difficult part of being Vegan has been eating out with family and friends. My DH loves going Vegan with me at home and when we eat out we usually end up somewhere that's either Vegan or Vegetarian friendly. I can always find something to eat. This past weekend we went out to eat and I suggested his favorite --Vietnamese. I figured I would find me some vegetable dumplings and rice. Well that wasn't an option. The hardest part of recovering from foot surgery is not being able to exercise. I'd gotten to where I was really getting into it. My biggest concern was that I'm losing so slowly with even the exercise that I'll gain weight while I'm recovering. So, I'm being as good as I can be. I think next week I'll try doing some upper body work outs with our home gym. I'm sure I can sit and do chest, shoulder, back and arm exercises. I suppose these would burn calories too, huh? I don't mind not los... Fri, 26 Feb 2010 09:14:08 EST Recovery from final foot surgery - Ouch!! The good news is that its the last of the surgeries. I'd injured my foot several years ago and the tendons had been pulled causing my foot to slightly curve in. I'd been putting it off for so long but it's finally done. Dr. says I should be ready for the tennis courts in 8 weeks!! I'm going to have to be really good to keep from gaining weight in those 8 weeks. I plan to do upper body and abs and that will help. While I would love to see this weight come off 2 lbs at a time, I happily accept a one lb loss or even a half pound loss. At least I know I'm going in the right direction. I had hoped to lose more because I've got more foot surgery scheduled on Friday and the recovery this time could be about a month. Mon, 15 Feb 2010 09:23:43 EST My very own "boutique" in my closet! About five years ago I'd lost 36 pounds following Weight Watchers. I felt great! Best of all I had a brand new wardrobe. Well things changed - I found out I had cancer, dealt with it and thank God its out of my body and I'm Cancer Free! She's 67. is diabetic and recently was diagnosed with some type of renal problem. She's lost so much weight - not because she's ill, but because she's watching what she eats and excercises daily.
