Wednesday evening I received a call from the school that one of our students had passed away in a 4-wheeler accident. It rocked me to my core as that student used to come into the ISS room when I was there to escape the loudness that is the lunchroom at least twice a week. He was a sweet, gentle soul. Always had a kind word. It makes me very sad that he will no longer pop in just to chat ever again. Really great kid. Went to his visitation today at... Sat, 23 May 2015 18:35:42 EST Unmotivated But Trying to Recover http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5931576 I have been struggling all week with getting in my steps. Not that I haven't had the time but I have been totally unmotivated. What makes a person lose their motivation occasionally? It has happened to me before but I was able to shake myself out of it in just a couple of days. This time I went 3 days, almost 4 because I was still unmotivated today but I did pick myself up and forced myself to walk. I feel better about it now but I can't help but wonder why I get like that occasionally. ... Wed, 20 May 2015 19:17:31 EST Property Photos http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5930962 The realtors came back yesterday to take photos of our house and yard. They arrived at 3:30 and left at 5:45. And yes, they were taking photos the whole time. Our home when live online today. There were 30 photos and I have to admit that the house and yard look fantastic. He came back today because he had forgotten our downstairs bathroom. He was here about an hour and mentioned that many of those photos will become a 'virtual tour' online. Wow! Our house will have a virtual tour when... Tue, 19 May 2015 18:49:41 EST Great Saturday Fun http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5929628 Had fun this weekend. Yesterday both my DD's and I went to the Lansing Art Festival. We skipped the craft booths and just hung out in the arts area. Such beautiful stuff. I could have dropped some serious cash there but why when I'd just have to pack it away indifinately waiting for our move. But I did pick up some business cards of some of the artists that I really liked in hopes of adding some of their pieces to my new home whenever that happens.

It turned into a very nice d... Sun, 17 May 2015 13:30:09 EST Walking in the rain.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5926857 Had an interesting walk home yesterday. It was barely sprinkling when I headed home. It was hot, muggy, and I was glad I did not have a jacket with me. Too much weight to carry. But as I was walking along the sprinkling increased a bit. Okay, it was keeping me cool and I was fine with that. About 3 miles out - heavier sprinkles. Now it's running down my head. My backpack is getting soaked. I continued on. By the time I got home it was raining really good. No sense calling DD to com... Tue, 12 May 2015 09:59:12 EST Exercise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5922632 I've done 700,000 steps for the past 2 months. The first time I did it was amazing. An unwritten goal for myself and I made it. Last month, same thing. I did it once, I should be able to do it again. But last month was 1 day shorter and I had a few unmotivated days. That put me in the hole and I was playing catch-up for days and days. Then I did a 30,000 day because of my friend R who showed up in town just in time. That really helped and from then on I knew I could do it.

T... Mon, 4 May 2015 20:11:05 EST What a Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5921212 This was a long week for me. I normally work until 12:30 each day but this week I was there until the end of school, 2:30; doing end-of-year testing on students. Plus we have been doing the M-Step, the newest statewide test mandated by Michigan. I feel very sorry for the kids. Test, test, test. When do they have time to learn anymore? But the test I give, Star Reading, is done online. They have to beat or come close to their last score, which was done at the end of last semester. Some... Sat, 2 May 2015 08:48:29 EST Busy, busy, busy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5918525 We are currently getting our house ready to be put back on the market for sale. It was for sale over the winter, but we discovered that no one really looks at houses in the winter. Who wants to move then? Now, the weather is nice and we have lots of painting to do outside. Lots! Our back porch, our front porch, the gingerbread trim on the front porch and over the front window. Lots of tedious work. Even older DD has come over to help us. Younger DD is getting to be a pro at wielding a... Mon, 27 Apr 2015 12:23:55 EST I Must Be Nuts http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5917162 I have a certain amount of steps I like to walk each day so I make my monthly goal. I've been increasing my goal for a few months and, honestly, I feel better when I walk more. I think my brain just needs those extra endorphins. But yesterday I was so busy that I didn't get in the amount that I wanted. Actually I was 6,000 short. Oh man. 6,000 is a lot to make up in just the few short days that we have left in April.

Today I walked in the morning like I usually do. Tried to ... Fri, 24 Apr 2015 20:30:25 EST The Way movie http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5916493 I watched "The Way" starring Martin Sheen a couple days ago. It took my morning walk time (50 minutes) and then I worked in some time in the evening to finish it because it was so good. I have been thinking about this movie ever since and have recommended it to 2 friends so far this week. I am also trying to talk DH into watching it this weekend it is that good.

In the movie Martin Sheen's character, Tom, walks the El camino de Santiago from France to Spain. He is there to pick... Thu, 23 Apr 2015 15:50:46 EST Yikes it was windy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5915296 The last hour of each day at school I fill in for 1) the school secretary when she takes lunch, and 2) the woman in ISS when she takes her lunch. Today I'm sitting in the front office when one of the teachers comes in from outside. "Wow is it windy out there!" he tells me. "and cold too, hope you aren't walking in this stuff." I tell him that I am and then he goes on to tell me "at least it will be at your back." So I'm thinking that it will be pushing me along and I will probably get a r... Tue, 21 Apr 2015 18:02:07 EST What a week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5913608 Work has been stressful lately. The kids started a new end-of-year test this week. The old test schedule was 2 weeks long, the new test - 8 weeks long. This week was Language Arts and the booklets they had to do all their answers in were huge. The kids were wasted by the end of each day. Next week is math. It may be my favorite subject but I know middle school kids don't pay attention to what we are trying to teach them and only absorb for the moment. It will be a long test for them ne... Sat, 18 Apr 2015 19:58:59 EST Misc Stuff http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5910061 The weather has been so nice lately. Today I swapped out all my winter clothes for my spring duds. I need more dress slacks but don't want to spend much to get them. My friend C and I are planning a shopping trip to Lansing next weekend to check out some resale shops there that she assures me I will like. We shall see.

R was down this weekend with her DH. They were getting more stuff from her parents house for them to sort thru up north. They also hauled all the furniture out... Sun, 12 Apr 2015 17:51:36 EST Back to My Old Self http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5907909 Sunday I turned a corner on being sick. Monday I was still tired and took a nap when I got home from school. Tuesday I woke up and felt more like my normal self. Took a nice long walk and it really worked some kinks out of my lower back and it made me happy. Yesterday I dragged older DD out for a few laps at the park. She wore the worst shoes possible, definately NOT walking shoes. Today I texted her since she had the day off and talked her into walking again. She mentioned how much he... Wed, 8 Apr 2015 19:49:05 EST Spring Break? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5905953 This has been the most depressing spring break I have ever had. Spent the first day in Chicago with older DD, which was fun. But the very next day I came down with something that just hung on all week. I felt icky. Couldn't stay awake. Got nothing done that I had wanted to do during the break. The days just blended into one long haze that I didn't get to enjoy. I was starting to feel better yesterday but, of course, no one was around to do anything with. Younger DD now has a bad cold ... Sun, 5 Apr 2015 17:42:33 EST Too Much Sleep Does Not Make a Stepper Happy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5903178 I think I picked up something on that train Friday. Saturday my throat was killing me. Yesterday more of the same and a horrible cough added in. I would cough until I could hardly breath. Sprayed my throat every couple hours with throat spray and was able to sleep last night.

Today my throat feels much better but now my nose is runny and I can't hardly stay awake. Woke up at 8:30 this morn and was only awake about half hour before dozing off again when DD left for college. Sh... Tue, 31 Mar 2015 21:13:15 EST Day in Chicago http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5901108 Chicago yesterday was a lot of fun. The only thing we did that we had planned on was eating at our favorite restaurant when we first arrived there. The water taxi wasn't running yesterday so we never made it to the Aquarium. Instead we walked uptown and were heading to the Art Institute when we stumbled on Millenium Park. We've never actually been there, just ridden past. So we got to see the Bean sculpture up close (it is wonderful). We saw the tiniest bronze door, just the size that A... Sat, 28 Mar 2015 10:25:29 EST Off to Chicago! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5900155 Today was only a half day at school. We started our spring break today and don't return until April 6. I almost started skipping down the hall as I was leaving I was so excited. Oldest DD and I are going to Chicago tomorrow for the day by train. I love traveling on the train and I love going to Chicago too. I haven't been in a long time so it will be nice to go back even just for one day. I want to see the Aquarium again and walk along Navy Pier. DD wants to do a little shopping for wo... Thu, 26 Mar 2015 15:19:06 EST Shoes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5898906 Yesterday I visited a podiatrist for the first time ever. I have been having problems with my first 2 toes on my right foot. Actually thought I had some sort of fungus but it turns out I don't (whew). What I have is 2 toes who have been abused by my constant walking. He filed off most of one toenail and cut off a section of my big toenail. Yes it bled. But it did feel much better afterward just like he said it would. It does hurt a bit today because I walked home (of course). I will b... Tue, 24 Mar 2015 15:22:40 EST Good, quick week. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5896866 This was a quick week. Time just flew by and now it is the weekend. DD and I are going to the movies today with a couple of free passes that my friend R gave me last time she was down for a visit. We also have to go to a toy store and look around for a paper DD has to write for one of her college classes. We meant to look around at the toy department at Meijer yesterday but I just wanted to go in and get my stuff and head home. Toys depress me now, they just don't look fun anymore. Doll... Sat, 21 Mar 2015 08:00:49 EST Car Troubles http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5894203 Had to take my car in to get a tire fixed. What a fiasco and I will never go back to that particular repair shop again. Because of the lateness of the repair I ended up taking the whole day off work. The day got up to 71 degrees today. Just lovely. Got to take a long walk with one of my sisters at the park. She is the one who told me about FitBit over a year ago. We competed with each other last year and now it is like she has given up. I know she still wears her FitBit because she pu... Mon, 16 Mar 2015 20:36:44 EST Nice Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5893007 Busy day today. DD and I went to an annual event called "Woman's Expo". We have never gone before and DD wanted to see what it was like. I'm not sure why it is such a huge draw. Most of the booths we weren't interested in but we did look at them. There was only 1 booth that anything to do with exercise or being active. But lots of info on makeup, purses, etc.

After the Women's Expo we went downtown to a Celtic Fest to listen to harp and penny whistle. A bagpiper was suppose ... Sat, 14 Mar 2015 20:37:14 EST Finding Money http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5891196 Michigan has a 10 cent per bottle deposit on all carbonated drinks. I'm not too proud to pick up an empty I see on the side of the road. All this week, as the snow has been melting, I have noticed lots of empty cans as I walk home. Today I actually shoved a plastic bag into my pocket before I left for school and as I'm walking home I start picking them up. Only the ones near the road and out of the snow already. I got 29 cans and 1 lone bottle into my bag and it would hold no more. That... Three kinds of beans, lots of misc veggies all laying on top of half bag of mixed greens. Every day I think about this waiting for me when I get home after my walk. There are days when I will fix an elaborate dinner for my family and then warm up a container of my bean mixture cause that is all I want. Am I weird? Tue, 10 Mar 2015 18:21:26 EST Too Hot? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5890016 Walked home from school today. 21,498 steps by the time I got inside my home. I had worn my winter coat since it was only in the low 30's when I left in the morning. It was 45 while I was walking but I would rather wear a coat than have to carry it. I was miserable the final mile, mile and a half. By the time I got inside I couldn't get that coat off fast enough. Then I had to take off my top (fleece) since it was coated in sweat. Oh my goodness. I chugged my water - the whole bottle ... Mon, 9 Mar 2015 17:42:47 EST The End of a Streak http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5888856 My streak of 616 days of logging in to Spark came to a stop yesterday. Yesterday I was tired. Bone tired. I overslept in the morning and did not have a chance to exercise before having to head off to work. Then by the time I got home after work, recycling, library and getting groceries I was too pooped to care. DH and I went out for veggie wraps for dinner and came back home. I tried to do a little reading but my eyes kept slamming close so I just gave up. There was a brief time when ... Sat, 7 Mar 2015 19:14:38 EST Spring Forward http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5887670 For the last couple of days I have gotten up earlier than usual. My usual is 5AM so I can get in some exercise before heading off to work. But for some strange reason this week I've been waking up at 4 or 4:15. The first two days I was dragging by mid afternoon but today I still feel pretty darn perky. For some reason my body is getting ready for the spring-forward time change a week early. It has been nice and my step count is wonderful because of it. I'm going to keep doing what I can... Thu, 5 Mar 2015 17:14:22 EST Oh No! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5885751 I have been very bad lately. Most of February I was not tracking my food intake and today I got on the scale and YIKES! I'm actually up 7 pounds from the start of 2015 and I'm not happy about it. It took a lot of hard work to get those pounds off before and now I'll have to do it again. I do not want to be losing and regaining. I got rid of my really big clothes for a reason - I never want to be that big again. And I'm still no where near goal so adding 7 pounds back on is awful. I ne... Mon, 2 Mar 2015 18:24:54 EST Catching Up - Broken Sprinkler, New Phones, and Vermont! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5878662 Another day off of school due to weather. Wind chill this time - 20 below is the magic number to get school called off. Personally it doesn't seem that bad to me but I can tolerate cooler weather. Don't really notice wind chill unless it is truly windy (it isn't) but I know kids don't wear coats anymore. I'm not sure when that trend started but it seems so silly to me since we live in Michigan and it gets plenty cold here. I wear a coat. I own quite a few actually depending on what I'm ... Thu, 19 Feb 2015 09:55:26 EST Back Pain, Part 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5874650 The pain has not eased up and yesterday I ended up going to the doctors. My back is killing me and I'm all hunched over. They want to weigh me (okay, but I'm not taking off my shoes), take my BP (here sit on the edge of this chair so I can take it from the arm that is furthest away from the wall-mounted cuff). My BP is high (192) and the Nurse Practioner starts to yell at me. Yes, yell at me! You need to take your readings every day! You should have your own cuff at home! I'm going to ... Thu, 12 Feb 2015 17:06:24 EST iPod Trouble http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5873106 Less than an hour into my walk home yesterday my iPod quit working. Seems I should have plugged it in, and I actually thought about it before leaving for work but didn't. Anyway, as I was walking along it beeped at me and stopped working. My old Shuffle would do that sometimes and I would just turn it off, wait a bit and turn it back on and it would work. But not this time. DH got me a new iPod nano for Christmas and it was having none of it. It just needed more juice and I was a long w... Tue, 10 Feb 2015 10:01:37 EST Back Pain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5869640 This past weekend I somehow managed to hurt my back. I think it is just a pinched nerve or something. DH has been rubbing me down with Ben-Gay in the evening which has helped. So has sleeping on a heating pad for the past 2 nights. By the time I get to leave school for the day I am starting to feel the pain again so my walking has been off so far this month. Falling behind already on my step counts, but I really can't tolerate back pain. I can work through most pain (and I have!) but ba... Wed, 4 Feb 2015 20:53:42 EST Walking Home http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5864628 Worked the whole day today. Three times a year our school does something called the Star Reading test and I administer it for the whole middle school. It takes a lot of time and paper pushing to make sure every kid gets it done. Some more than once if their score drops significantly from the previous test. I don't mind it though. It takes me away from the usual day and gives me an opportunity for extra pay. Usually takes a week to do all three grade levels.

But I still walke... Wed, 28 Jan 2015 16:15:17 EST Depressed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5862928 I had some difficulty being motivated this past weekend. I seem to get in a funk occasionally and just don't feel it, so I don't. I know it puts me behind and I have no one to blame but myself but how do so many people on Spark stay so upbeat every single day?

I walk like a fiend. I watch what I eat. I've been faithful to ETL for months now. But my weight does not budge. At all. I've been stuck at 201 consistantly for months. Am I depressed over it - yes. Will I give up -... Mon, 26 Jan 2015 11:48:39 EST 30 Degrees and Loving It http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5860358 It is 30 degrees today. Just cool enough that you can see your own breath but yet warm enough that my heavy gloves were too much. I switched them out for the lightweight pair that live in my cavernous pockets but after a bit even those had to come off. I was in the zone today on my walk home and loving every second. I love, LOVE! when the temp is just slightly cool as it is today. This is the temperature when it feels wonderful to be alive. When I come around the last bend and there sta... Thu, 22 Jan 2015 14:49:13 EST Another Snow Day and I Used It Wisely http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5859661 Snow day again today. Quite a surprise actually since it is exam week in the high school and RARELY do they call school during exam week. A 2-hour delay I could see but the whole day, a real head scratcher.

My initial plan was to workout a bit and then bury myself in a book. I've got quite a few waiting for me that I downloaded with some Christmas money. But instead I felt like cooking after my workout. Doesn't happen often, but I usually take full advantage when it does. Lot... Wed, 21 Jan 2015 16:18:44 EST Stuff http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5858587 I took a couple of days off last week to rest my heel. I felt guilty both days but I have to admit that my foot felt fantastic yesterday. So DH and I went on a trek, a long trek. By the time we had finished I needed to rest. Heck, partway thru I asked if we could just stand for a minute so I could catch my breath.

This morning it does twinge a bit. I have to walk home from school though so I will have to tough it out. DD has class today so she has my car. This will be my l... Tue, 20 Jan 2015 09:48:39 EST BBC Shows http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5854939 I have discovered a couple of BBC murder mystery shows. "DCI Banks" and "Case Histories." Our library owns Season 1 of DCI Banks but not the next 2 seasons. They also own both seasons of Case Histories. I watched the first season of DCI Banks a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. Haven't seen Stephen Tomkinson since his days on Ballykissangel years ago. He is still brooding but makes a nice chief detective. Very believable part and I will probably get the next season from interlib... Thu, 15 Jan 2015 09:45:34 EST Canned Soup is Bad http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5849684 I made a resolution to track my food again in hopes of seeing why I have been stuck on this plateau for so long. It has been an eye opener already.

By the time I get home in the afternoon I am very, very hungry. I haven't eaten anything since 6AM and I usually don't get home until 2PM or later depending on how long it takes to walk. Lately I have been eating canned soup. It is quick and filling. But every day my sodium count is out of this world. Well duh. Canned soup is ful... Thu, 8 Jan 2015 17:53:56 EST New Year, New Me? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5843092 I've been thinking about my new year resolutions for over a week now and this is what I've come up with.

In 2015 I am going to -

1) Walk an average of 15,000 steps per day.
I have been trying to increase the amount I walk each month. My greatest achievement was 600,000 in December, but I really had to push myself every single day to make that goal. It was hard since it did not allow any rest days. I had a foot injury and I still had to walk or make up the lost... Thu, 1 Jan 2015 17:32:18 EST I Made It! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5842559 601,902 was my total for December.

O-M-G I actually made it. Even on the last day I was still doubting myself. I just wanted to sit and relax but I needed those last 12,000 steps to make goal. So I pulled up my big girl panties and hit the mini-tramp. I have discovered that I don't have to watch a movie to keep going, I can listen to a book too, I just need something to occupy my brain while I'm stepping along. I finished Jan Karon's "Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good" a Mit... Thu, 1 Jan 2015 08:27:55 EST Long Cold Day Walking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5841527 Brrrr. Today was incredibly cold due to the wind. I think I've written how much I dislike wind when I walk. A breeze on a warm day - very nice. But wind changes everything. Today was only 20 degrees. Tolerable normally but on a windy day it is not. I could only walk one lap, less than 2 miles before getting back in my car and leaving the park. I was the only person to even attempt today. I should have tried for two because it meant that I would have to walk even longer on my mini-tra... Tue, 30 Dec 2014 20:50:15 EST It Is Doable! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5840073 I belong to the 10,000 Steps group here on SP. I am not, by far, one of the leading walkers. But I sure do give it my all each month. My biggest total steps for a month was 516,567 last March. 31 days it took and looking back over my spreadsheet there are a lot of under 10,000 step days. For December I officially said I would walk 480,000 steps but really my goal has always been 600,000 steps. Pretty lofty goal. But I've been getting up early every day and walking for a half hour befor... Sun, 28 Dec 2014 18:55:57 EST Foot Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5839546 I have rested my foot for 3 days now. It feels much better and I am planning on a short walk tomorrow morning. Did some stepping on my mini-tramp today and it was fine. Even putting on the shoes didn't hurt as much as before so it must be healing. I will still take it easy as I don't want a repeat of the pain I was experiencing. Sat, 27 Dec 2014 21:11:13 EST All Dogs Should Be on Leashes! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5838515 Tuesday I took my friend R's elderly parents dog, Casey, for a walk in town. He is getting much better behaving on a leash. Sticks to my side and only occasionally barks at other dogs. But Wednesday, what a day. We are doing the big loop, I'm listening to a book when across the road (a busy road) comes a little dog. Fortunately for him his owner managed to grab him before it got hit. Didn't grab the other dog that was also loose and it was on it's way across instead. But no, two houses... Thu, 25 Dec 2014 21:18:03 EST Smaller Jeans - Almost http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5837002 My daughters and I drove to Ann Arbor today for our annual dental appointments. While we were there I wanted to stop by Briarwood Mall to poke around. It was a slow day (except at Williams & Sonoma - yikes!). I bought some new under eye cream which really seems to mask my huge under eye bags (finally one that works!). I also tried on a size 14 jean since my 16's are a bit loose now. Got them on but couldn't zip them. But I know I am headed in that direction and it makes me feel good. I... Mon, 22 Dec 2014 21:23:18 EST And we did it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5836374 21,414 steps is twice around. 2-1/2 hours of constant walking (well except the two times I needed to stop to use a restroom). The last mile was the worst. We were both tired and dragging but we made it. I took a hot shower as soon as we got home which helped energize me. Not enough to go out walking again but it sure made me feel better. Had a nice lunch and now I'm doing my Spark thing and sitting in a chair. It is amazing how good it feels to sit after such a long walk 224... Sun, 21 Dec 2014 14:03:46 EST I Am Ready http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5836017 Today DH and I walked the new longer trail today. I have walked it twice before on my own and I like it. One lap is 12,000 steps for me and very interesting. Tomorrow he wants to attempt doing it twice. Twice! I am not sure how it will go. It was cold and slick today from the freeze last night. Tomorrow promises to be warmer but I want to start earlier in the day because it will take a very long time. I am ready to try this. I am ready! Sat, 20 Dec 2014 19:50:11 EST Walking to Clear My Head http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5833522 The county added a new wide trail in the park where I walk. 12 feet wide and set like a sidewalk thru people's front yards. But it is a marvel. Now we can go further. One lap on the new expanded trail is like 1-1/2 laps on the old one. Fabulous. DH and I walked two of the longer laps Sunday. Now that is a workout! DH kept up and only had trouble with his foot near the end. We love it. Lots of people walking and enjoying. Took most of the summer but well worth the wait. Wonder what... Mon, 15 Dec 2014 17:44:56 EST Date Night http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5832562 Great weekend so far. Last evening I needed 6,000 steps to reach my daily goal. It was 7 at night, dark out, but DH suggested we go to the park and do a couple laps. Yep in the dark. We took along a couple of flashlights for safety.

It was wonderful. No wind. The flashlights provided just enough light. Only one other walker. We parked at the nearby Wendy's (lighted parking lot) and put in 2 laps. It was really fun and he has promised to do it again next Friday too. Kind o... Sat, 13 Dec 2014 21:19:24 EST
