SONGOFNEWSTAR's SparkPeople Blog SONGOFNEWSTAR's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Week 16: I'm Not Sure Where To Go This week has been so discouraging. I am yo-yo back and forth from 170 to 168 and I just cant keep it steady. It's just wearing down on me. I have yet to make my April goal and am two pounds over my sparkpeople suggested weight and I have yet to pull a number over 2 since my original 5lb loss. I dont know.

But I know that it is my fault. I cant fit gym time in my schedule and the weather has kept me indoors for the most part. Tomorrow, I am going to try my best to get up a half hou... Mon, 27 Apr 2009 23:43:39 EST Week 14 & 15: Ugh The last two weeks have been terribly hectic. I started my new placement at the grade school, so I've spent the last two weeks adjusting to the major changes in my life. I used to have nights off, now I am struggling to find ANY time in teh day. That's obviously taken a toll on my workout and eating healthy. I've had a helluva time tracking my food, something I am usually great about. And I was lucky to get in 30 minutes of hard core cardio.

Either way, week 14, I lost 2lbs. And ... Mon, 20 Apr 2009 18:19:12 EST Week 13: Mileage! Ok. Confession time. This week was my Spring Break and I spent doing nothing in line with my goals except the few milestones I will talk about in a second. I did manage to get in a ton of lost sleep. I traded my 4am wakeups for 1pm late starts and my 10pm bedtime for 2am late night tv show marathons. I cant believe staying in bed would feel sooooo wonderful, but it did. I also managed to get in a couple interviews for some prospective teaching positions and did what most college kids do on th... Sun, 5 Apr 2009 23:43:07 EST Week 12: FIRE! (and not the good kind) Wow. A ton has happened this week, and it is scary that I actually considered this one to be my relaxed week. Here's a rundown of the personal stuff:
1.) Campus is on Spring Break
2.) Finished student teaching with the high schoolers
3.) Interviewed with Teach for America. I really hope I get it. I felt that I deserved to be there.
4.) Roommate was gone on break and boyfriend was home, so I was all by myself
5.) My sister's bridal shower was today. I was one of the ho... Sat, 28 Mar 2009 20:55:35 EST Week 11: Spring Into Summer Challenge Another week has passed and I am on the 3 month mark! Goooo me. 20lbs in 3 months sounds great. I am 25lbs away from my June 30th goal, and frankly, I'll be happy to be in the 150s by the end of June. 145 is just a number. In fact, overall, I'd like to weigh in around 130 as that would put me as overweight in the BMI factor (which, I find to be a load of crap since it doesn't take account for fat distribution).

To help me launch into my summer goals, I entered in the Spring Into S... Sun, 22 Mar 2009 21:38:45 EST Week 10: Going Back To Bad Ok. I am going to be seriously honest with ya'll. This has been a bad week and I have no excuses for anything.

I set a goal to workout around 500 minutes this week. I only got in 230. I promised myself to do strength training 3xs. I did it once. I vowed to stick to my calorie cycling all week, but I ate over my allotted calories on Wednesday, didnt eat enough on Thursday, and overall... just ate a ton of junk.

Technically, I have an excuse for Thursday and Friday as I w... Sat, 14 Mar 2009 20:10:47 EST Week 9: All of your eyes will open and you will know. This is the first time in a long time that I have wanted to come and put up a post here on this blog. Insane. I know, especially coming from a hardcore blogger.

But this week was, well, good- at least the end result was.

I have never been this busy in my life. Here is my schedule:
Sunday: Went home and saw family (2 hour drive) and did work out tapes
Monday: Teaching from 7am-4:30pm, band 7-9pm, got asked to a teaching interview!, no gym
Tuesday: Teaching... Sat, 7 Mar 2009 22:48:47 EST Week 8- Scales Totally Lie. You know that old saying that us overweight people live by... "Scales never lie?" Well, mine does. Mine has apparently been lying to me for months now and I have been to naive or wrapped up in numbers to notice it.

Back story time!

The last time I was professionally weighed (like by someone who actually can work a sophisticated scale) was at the end of December. At that time, I weighed 189lbs. And that is when I decided that I was going to take advantage of my kinesolog... Sat, 28 Feb 2009 22:19:35 EST Week 7: It's Never Easy, Is It? HELP ME. Let me just warn you all, that this might be a big pity post. Read at your own caution.

Ugh. 1lb. 1 measly little pound. I put a ton of work into this week and I only see a 1lb result. And if we are going to be honest, I cant even say 1lb and fully believe it since yesterday I was at 170 and today I am at 168. (me thinks it's time for a new scale)

I am pissed. Really, I am. I worked out so much this week. I followed the advice of all my fellow sparkers. I mixed up my rou... Sat, 21 Feb 2009 19:37:22 EST Week 6: I've Been Shredded, and I Need Help! Ok, this is the post when I admit that I am stupid. Really, really stupid.

I decided to try out the 30 Day Shred on Sunday. I loved the program, but midway through the first routine, I started to feel a pull in my leg. Thinking it was a normal workout cramp, I just pushed through the pain. (That Jillian Michaels is such a motivating bitch!) Come Monday, I couldn't move my legs correctly. My knee was way out of alignment and my thighs were extremely tense. Walking up the stairs to ... Sat, 14 Feb 2009 19:15:59 EST Week 5: The Trade Off Prepare for a confession....

This week was the start of my student teaching day count. We are required to teach at least 30 days per assignment between now and graduation. To start off all of this fun, we had seminars Monday and Thursday. Most of the seminar was talking about our fears going into our next big life change and what was to come when we get out in the real world. We also went through the mountains of paper work we will have to complete to get an A. I am making it a goa... Sat, 7 Feb 2009 22:01:44 EST Week 4: Getting It Together Wow. I am so glad this week is all done with! It's been an extremely challenging week of firsts, which will hopefully get easier with time. See, this was my first week full-time student teaching. Overall, I've been great about eating healthy during the school day. I didn't miss a breakfast and only brought healthy, lighter meals so I could eat a good dinner at night. I also refused to buy fast food, but had to give up when I had to stay late on Thursday night. Thursday was my worst day, fat c... Sun, 1 Feb 2009 19:18:13 EST Week 3 Eating Out Yay Week 3!

I cant say this has been my best week. Ok, yeah. I messed up a ton. For some reason, this week has been eating-out-central. I've had panera (which is suprisingly unhealthy) on Tuesday, Papa Johns on Wednesday (it was in celebration of the return of LOST), and Weber Grill on Saturday.

I actually managed to keep under my calories every day this week, except for my Panera deception. Fat content has also been kept in my goals which seems to be the hardest to co... Sun, 25 Jan 2009 23:02:28 EST Week 2: Pain and Doughnuts Well, it's the end of week 2 and it's time for a recap. If you haven't checked my weight updates on the main page, I lost a whopping 5lbs this week! It's been awesome to see the pointer on the scale head more and more towards the 160s and farther and farther away from 183 (where I started 3 weeks ago). One more pound and I have lost 10lbs in 3ish weeks. If that isn't motivation, then I dont know what is!

Ok, now on to this week. Counting my calories has been going well, but I am n... Sun, 18 Jan 2009 18:47:15 EST New Running Shoes! I just bought new running shoes! I had been experiencing shin splints earlier this week, and because they splints weren't too harsh, I decided to keep running. Normally, my legs returned back to form after a couple minutes, but my feet and ankles were really swollen. Hearing my problem a friend told me (and I researched some more) to get my running gait checked out by a professional who could recommend a pair of good runnings shoes. I went in with a budget (because being unemployed for four m... Sat, 17 Jan 2009 19:35:01 EST Week 1 I just finished week 1 with a weigh-in on Sunday morning. It was that pretty so color me disappointed. :(

I am at 179.3 right now which is pretty depressing. That's three pounds heavier than I was two weeks ago, even after all the physical activity.

But in good news, I managed to lose about an inch off of my waist and a quarter inch from my thigh. Those numbers are more important than weight. But I would still like the scale to show a pay-off as well.

Here w... Mon, 12 Jan 2009 17:59:26 EST C25K Obviously, I am not very good at posting blogs here. Yikes! I cant say that I am going to post here often, but I am going to make an effort to keep this updated at least monthly on my progress.

Today I started C25K. I was actually really excited about this when my roommate told me about it. I have always wanted to be a runner, but I really have no discipline to do so. Plus, I hate fluctuating temperatures and the whole outdoors activities. But I am going to do this.

My... Thu, 8 Jan 2009 21:14:21 EST
