I am so lucky to have a wonderful daughter who supports me in everything I do. She lives in Indianapolis and I haven't had the chance to see her for the last year! I miss her so much! And then there's my son, Romy. When I got home today, there was an email from him to... Tue, 19 Jul 2011 18:46:40 EST Wired and ready to go! Day 1 of the Continuous Glucose Monitoring System http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4348030 58 I had my training class today for my Continuous Glucose Monitoring System! I was able to insert the sensor successfully on the first try too! I learned a lot about the sensor, how it will communicate with my insulin pump. I was a little intimidated by the size of the needle, but honestly it hurts more to test my blood sugar than to insert the sensor. (The needle comes out after insertion of the sensor by the way) I could hardly wait to get my first readings as it takes abou... Thu, 7 Jul 2011 20:30:26 EST Glad I planned in advance and had a snack handy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4337631

Walking in the Sarasota area is awesome! My husband and I usually do the beach walk every weekend but today we decided to walk the John Ringling Causeway Walkway. We drive across it every time we head to the beach. The views are spectacular and the sea breeze feels awesome. Didn't seem that long or hard of a walk until we got started! I didn't take into account the pitch of the bridge! The uphill portions of the bridge are a great workout for the legs!

We got a ... Sat, 2 Jul 2011 18:01:16 EST Got the call I was waiting for! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4311621 Hooray! Just before dinner, I got a call from MedTronic Minimed. My newly upgraded insulin pump will arrive tomorrow and I was approved for the continuous glucose monitoring system.

I have had problems here recently with my blood sugar going to low. My doctor told me at my last visit, he considers me to be a brittle diabetic. I snack when I have to, but don't like to. I have been having to have a snack before bed time so I won't wake up too low. This morning my BS was 68. ... Mon, 20 Jun 2011 20:25:50 EST Welcome back to SP my baby girl! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4308616 1 long year ago my daughter and I were doing SP together and we were awesome at it! She lost an amazing 13 pounds in 2 months. She inspired me so much. Together, we felt that this was not impossible. Then my husband and I moved to Florida and I basically gave up. I feel like I abandoned her!

She and I have struggled with our weights just about our entire life. SP was one good thing we shared together that really worked. Being a diabetic, I worry about passing that along to... Sun, 19 Jun 2011 15:07:01 EST So nice to find SP friends! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4306996 Well, after my rant a couple of days ago, I am feeling much better! Thanks for letting me air my frustration! Sometimes you just got to let it go.

I am so happy that I am getting responses to my Sparkpage from friends I made a year ago and new ones I am excited to get to know. After the first few days of rejoining the program, I was kind of worried that I wouldn't get the same level of support that I had a year ago. A lot of the friends I made have left just like I did and now ... Sat, 18 Jun 2011 15:15:40 EST NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4301011 12 I am SUPER frustrated! It seems from the moment I sit down at my desk until the moment it is time to go home (cause God forbid you get overtime) my day is packed with demands! Don't get me wrong, I love my job and I get great satisfaction from it, but geeeezzzeee! One person can handle so many projects!

I am the Market Liaison, HR Liaison and administrative assistant to our practice administrator, 28 doctors, ARNPs and PAs. I also credential said providers at the... Wed, 15 Jun 2011 17:43:01 EST JUST FINISHED DAY THREE http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4294132 I am proud that I have been able to resist ALL temptation the last 3 days. Hubby and I went to the beach today to take in the warm sunshine and beautiful water. He brought a HUGE submarine sandwich filled with all the yummy stuff I love to eat at the beach, but I persevered and stuck with my 3 oz of turkey on whole grain bread, strawberries and a plum. I did about 40 minutes of snorkeling and a good 20 minute walk. I managed to stay within my calorie range and stay completely full! I was... Sun, 12 Jun 2011 19:17:37 EST FELL OFF THE WAGON BUT GETTING BACK ON THE RIDE http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4290933 2 Well, here I am again. I have had a roller coaster year without much success in losing weight. I can't blame anyone but myself. I have managed to keep 30 of the 46 pounds I lost off, but it was discouraging to see I had gained some back.

At least my diabetes is still in control. Most recent A1C was 6.6, so I guess it wasn't a total failure! I am going to try my best to get back on the healthy eating wagon and stay on it.

Any support would be apprec... Fri, 10 Jun 2011 21:53:40 EST The results are in! My Endo visit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3335041 Amazingly (or maybe not so much) my Hemoglobin A1C has dropped from 8.3% to 6.2%! For those of you who don't know, hemoglobin A1C is a blood test that shows the average amount of sugar in your blood for 3 months.

My Endocrinologist was exstatic about my weight loss and was very impressed with the diet plan I printed up for her from SparkPeople. As a result, I was able to lower my basal rate(s) on my insulin pump to combat the hypoglycemic symptoms I have been having since the c... Mon, 14 Jun 2010 23:02:59 EST Can't wait for the 1st weigh-in! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3328299 I've been at this lifestyle change for 3 days now. I can't wait to see at least a pound gone when I weigh in. I have walked over 3 miles and my daughter and I have been doing a little silly dancing in the mornings! I love dancing with her. She has a cute Tiny Tim song she listens to that absolutely makes you want to move! 30 You can't help yourself!

It has been really fun trying new recipes and making over old favorites to fit our dietary goals. Today, I found out... Sat, 12 Jun 2010 22:36:55 EST Day 1 - Ready to Supercharge what I have already been doing! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3324132 Hi fellow Sparkers! I joined Spark just yesterday after my daughter told me about the program. I consider myself well on the way to leading a healthier lifestyle since I have already lost 46 pounds in the past 6 months with diet and exercise; but I like this program to keep myself honest and motivated.

Being a insulin dependant diabetic for the last 5 years has made me watch what I eat; but I never really thought about tracking it this way! It makes it a lot easier.

... Fri, 11 Jun 2010 11:38:27 EST
