SMOOCHIESMOMMY2's SparkPeople Blog SMOOCHIESMOMMY2's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Taking a Break I plan on taking a break after my half marathon, the Winter Challenge and my Running Group weight loss challenges are over this month. I need to work on my relationship with God, get off the computer and tv, stop focusing on the scale, and get focused on my homework. Sun, 14 Apr 2013 21:05:13 EST Cherry Blossom 10 Miler I completed a 10 mile race in less than 2 hours today and received my first medal. I felt like I really struggled on the second half but I'm proud that I finished. Next up is the Nike Half Marathon on 28 Apr which will be my first half. Sun, 7 Apr 2013 19:48:55 EST Week 2 Challenge Weigh In Last week was a gain from 162 to 163.5. This week I went from 163.5 to 165.3. I am so disgusted! I know my eating wasn't the best but I didn't think it was the worst either (TOM). I burned about 1600 calories this week (2 physical therapy sessions, daily walks with the dog, 3 mile run, and Slim in 6 video). I would quit the challenge but it would hurt my team mates. Sat, 9 Mar 2013 18:46:20 EST Thursday's Blog Post I'm working on drinking water. I could use motivation by random check ins. Thu, 7 Mar 2013 21:45:20 EST What Can I Improve Upon? In short, everything. But in order not to feel overwhelmed, I'm taking baby steps. I'm concentrating on the water intake right now which I noticed is better on my days off from work. So I am going to improve my water intake at work by making sure my water cup is always full and minimize the diet soda and coffee intake. Wed, 6 Mar 2013 21:52:47 EST Goal to Improvement- Increase Water Intake I need to drink more water. I was told today to drink half of my weight so instead of 8 glasses of water, I have to drink 11. Wow...I accept the challenge Sun, 3 Mar 2013 18:32:22 EST Winter Challenge- 1st Week in Review I was able to run twice this week (one of them was even for 6.8 miles). However, my eating did me in once again. The hubby and I cooked and ate at home the first couple of days of the week. After that, we ate takeout (including Five Guys) and it went downhill from there. I am going to work on a plan for the week tomorrow and eat the soup I have in the pantry instead of eating out. Sat, 2 Mar 2013 17:55:36 EST Lost My Battle with Food This Week So, even though I went to yoga class, ran twice, and went to bootcamp once this week this week, I gained two pounds and I believe I'm at the heaviest weight I've ever been.

But I have to be honest with myself and recognize that even though I worked out, eating an entire bag of Ruffles in 24 hours didn't help. I need to get back on the eating plan that a subordinate gave me. It is a low carb plan with 5 meals throughout the day. Sat, 5 Jan 2013 17:16:12 EST Bootcamp Babe I purchased a Living Social deal for 10 bootcamp classes. I took the first one a couple of weeks ago and it was brutal. I ate too close to class and overdid it. I went again today, drank half a Slim Quick an hour before class, and took as many breaks as I wanted. It was still a great workout and I didn't feel so sick afterwards, just tired. I hate that I forgot to put on my heartrate monitor because I would have really loved to see how many calories I burned.

8 more classes to... Mon, 31 Dec 2012 13:13:27 EST Scale Inconsistencies I took my annual physical fitness test at work today (which I totally rocked). I weighed in at 154 and they took 3 pounds off for my clothes and recorded my weight as 151. When I got home and weighed myself with no clothes I weighed 156.9. What gives? I'm going to locate another scale because if I weigh closer to 151 instead of 157 my scale is going in the trash. Wed, 21 Nov 2012 18:44:55 EST Thanksgiving with Family I'm going out of town for Thanksgiving this year. I plan to eat whatever I want in moderation. I will eat a lot of veggies and stick to water and diet soda. I will try to get a workout in either by walking around the mall and/ or running around the neighborhood. Sun, 18 Nov 2012 15:44:15 EST Closer Relationship to God This is something that has been on mind. Due to my husband being out of town and having a 3 day weekend, it really hit home. If I can Spark, read gossip sites, and watch hours of tv a day, I have time to read my bible and pray daily.

I've decided I want to retire in 18 months and begin a new career. I need to have God close to my heart to make sure this is what He wants me to do.

I have 3 months before I move to a new section within my organization. I need to distanc... Mon, 12 Nov 2012 18:05:34 EST 1750 calorie dinner Yep, you read right. The hubby and I went out to Red Lobster for dinner because this is a last day together until after Thanksgiving. Between the appetizer, sweet tea, and biscuits, I racked up some damage today.

I didn't have dessert there because I thought it would be too many calories. I had a sundae and pie at McDonalds and SparkPeople said that was over 600 calories! That is a lot but still less than the restaurant desserts. I should have just used the 2 glasses of sweet ... Sat, 3 Nov 2012 22:02:09 EST Day of Rest I spent this day in bed and/or on the couch relaxing from my 5K last night. I planned on going to Spin class in the am but due to Sandy, I will have to stay at home and do Slim in 6 instead.

My office won't be open tomorrow so I will try to catch up on some work since I won't be interrupted 50,000 times. 41 Sun, 28 Oct 2012 19:57:23 EST Glo Run 5K

Well, I completed my Glo Run 5K in 34:38. Certainly not the time I wanted but taking into consideration I haven't been running consistently, there were a lot of bottle necks, and it was dark and we were trail running, I'll take it. I attached a photo of Smoochie showing his support.
Sat, 27 Oct 2012 21:50:40 EST 22 Oct 12 Workout I jogged for 20 mins straight with a 5 min warmup and cool down. I also did Ab Ripper X and walked Smoochie. I'm going to try to make myself get up in the morning and go to Body Pump. I haven't gone in over a month. Mon, 22 Oct 2012 19:05:19 EST 2 lbs gone this week Well, I can't believe it but I lost 2 pounds this week! I'm really excited and motivated to keep on track. I plan on going to spin class in the morning. Well, I'm off to pick out my workout clothes for spin class!
Sun, 21 Oct 2012 21:50:50 EST 2 hr massage today I had 1 hr of reflexology and 1 hr of a Swedish massage. It felt great and I was told that I was very tight (from stress and working out). I HAVE to take time to stretch a little bit each day. Sun, 14 Oct 2012 22:01:05 EST Awesome Workout Today! I ran/walked around a high school track with my running group. It was my first time doing a speed workout with them and it was great. I did 4.07 miles and I didn't really get tired until the last two laps. I pushed myself so I could feel like I got a workout but I pray I didn't push myself too hard. I've taken Tylenol, iced my knees, and have my legs elevated.

There's a run tomorrow evening at another location I've never done. I'll see how I feel and decide if I want to go. I... Wed, 10 Oct 2012 21:36:45 EST Running in the Cold I did a run/walk this morning and it was great. The first 10 minutes felt like I was going to die but I warmed up and got my stride. My Under Armour Cold Gear was awesome.

Looking forward to meeting with my running group on Wed pm and doing speed work at a local high school. This will be my first time doing speed work so this should be very entertaining, to say the least. Mon, 8 Oct 2012 20:53:00 EST 7 Oct 334 We didn't go to the eating festival today due to the weather. We went to the Under Armour Factory and did some shopping instead. I don't have any excuses for not working out outside now. Sun, 7 Oct 2012 18:54:58 EST First Fall 5% Weigh In The couple of pounds I lost 3 weeks ago have all come back plus some. I thought the 3 days in a row I worked out would have cancelled some of the bad eating I did for the last couple of days. Well, it didn't.

It's supposed to be raining tomorrow so I'm not sure what workout I will do. Maybe yoga, pilates, or stretching. I'm also going to a food tasting event tomorrow so I will definitely have to amp up my cardio beginning on Monday. Sat, 6 Oct 2012 19:37:26 EST 4 & 5 Oct Food Slipups I had a very stressful day at work yesterday and I ate ALOT of food yesterday and today because of it.

The positive points:

1. I only ate a small piece of cheesecake at a going away today.
2. The going away was a pizza party and there were boxes of pizza leftover. I ate 2 slices but didn't bring any home.
3. I brought a small side salad with me to the going away.
4. I plan on getting back on track tomorrow. Fri, 5 Oct 2012 19:22:15 EST 3 Oct Workout I ran/walked for 30 minutes (5 min warm up, 20 min run/walk, 5 min cooldown) and did a 15 min stretch video. I am still very sore from Ab Ripper X but I pushed through.

I plan on doing Slim in 6 Starter video (25 mins), Ab Ripper X (15 mins), and the stretch video tomorrow (15 mins).

I ate within my calorie range (so far) and drank at least 8 glasses of water. Wed, 3 Oct 2012 20:33:40 EST 2 Oct Workout I did ab ripper X this am as well of a couple of sets of pushups. It's been way too long since the last time I've done pushups. I'm going to try to do a couple of sets a day to make sure I pass my fitness test for work.

I did the Slim in 6 video this evening. I did the starter video because it's been a while since I've worked out consistently. The upper body exercises were tough but other than that it wasn't really challenging.

I plan on hitting the pavement in the a... Tue, 2 Oct 2012 19:56:35 EST Spin Class Results I went to spin class today for the first time in over a month and it was brutal. I started feeling lightheaded during our cool down but thankfully didn't pass out. I burned 573 calories and hope to keep up the good job this week even though I'm experiencing foot pain.
Mon, 1 Oct 2012 18:32:43 EST Fall 5% Assignment #1 Have you got your gym clothes, runners, water bottle, etc. ready to go? Yes

What is your exercise plan? At least 30 mins of cardio 6 days a week, strength training 2 days a week, and yoga or pilates once a week.

Do you know what diet you will follow? Found some recipes? Have you stocked up on the foods? I will continue the diet plan I just started a couple of weeks ago; need to purchase some flax seed and I should be good to go

Do you know how to connect with ... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 19:35:22 EST Off Track for a Couple of Days My friend has been in the hospital since Wed, which is where I have pretty much lived until her release this afternoon. I used this as an excuse to get off my diet plan. Hopefully, the scale will be gentle with me tomorrow. Fri, 21 Sep 2012 20:56:40 EST 2.4 lbs gone this week I weighed in this morning and was pleasantly surprised. I knew I lost some weight because my pants were feeling looser but I didn't expect this much.

My goal is to continue my diet plan and implement sensible working out into my routine so I don't continue to accumulate injuries.

Sat, 15 Sep 2012 08:33:17 EST Working on the New Diet Plan a Little at a Time I had oatmeal for the 2nd time in my life (yesterday was the first). It's cold by the time I finish it because it tastes like mush to me.

I had an overall good eating day. Now, I need to implement yoga/stretching/strength training/bike riding since I hurt myself running. Hopefully I can get some exercise in this weekend while working on my 10 page homework assignment. Thu, 13 Sep 2012 21:25:00 EST Trying New Diet/Exercise Plan- What's Your Opinion? Wed, 12 Sep 2012 21:29:22 EST Walk/Run Yesterday; Plans for This Week I walked/ran yesterday for 30 minutes and it was brutal but at it's done. I walked Smoochie for 30 minutes today and did abs for the first time in like a month (ouch!).

This is my "plan" for the week:
Mon- Spin (am); run with running group (pm)
Tues- Body Pump
Wed- Hispanic Heritage Month 5K (am); run with running group (pm)
Thurs- Body Pump
Fri- rest
Sat- walking tour of Atlanta
Sun- 5K in Atlanta Sun, 9 Sep 2012 22:10:53 EST 2900 calorie days That explains why I'm not losing weight. One day I consume 1400-1600 calories and the next day I consume 2900 calories. Wow!!!

Thu, 6 Sep 2012 20:40:35 EST No Run/Walk Today I was supposed to go on vacation today and visit family out of town but I've decided to stay and work on my homework. I am going to push myself to run/walk tomorrow regardless of the weather so I may have to run/walk on a treadmill. My 5K in Atlanta next week will definitely be a fun run. No dreams of a PR here!
334 Wed, 5 Sep 2012 22:02:46 EST First Run Since 11 Aug It was a rough 30 minute walk/run but I'm committed to continue. I will remember how hard it was today when I think about taking a break again. However, in my defense, some of my break was due to a couple of injuries. Mon, 3 Sep 2012 21:33:28 EST Hitting the reset button I've decided to take my Spark Friends' advice and take it one step at a time. I'd rather slowly lose the weight/body fat instead of the yo yoing I'm currently doing. Wish me luck! Sat, 1 Sep 2012 16:16:34 EST I need motivation! I have lost my motivation. For the last couple of weeks I have only worked out once or twice per week, not including walking Smoochie. My eating has also spiraled out of control.

I am so sick of losing and gaining the same 1-5 pounds over and over again. I believe some of what's going on has to do with my depression over the loss of my daughter. Her due date was yesterday.

I'm going to try to get back on track and go to spin class tomorrow morning. Sun, 19 Aug 2012 18:09:21 EST I love my husband My husband is out of town and I decided to try to clean up the house today like he normally does. I am so exhausted! I had no idea that it took so much time and was so tiring.

I totally counted my time today towards my Spark fitness minutes because I worked up a sweat. Sun, 29 Jul 2012 20:46:19 EST Weigh In Results I lost .5 pounds this week. I'm actually happy about it because I worked out and ate this week in a way that didn't make me feel like I was suffering. I noticed that my tummy area is going down and some of my t-shirts are a little more comfortable. I'll take all of that over a number on the scale any day. 224 Wed, 13 Jun 2012 22:16:56 EST BLC 19 Weigh In Disappointment I weighed in Wednesday and discovered I weigh the most I ever have in my life. I've eaten junk food the last couple of weeks out of frustration and anger. It's time for me to figure out what's going on.

1. I am not staying in my calorie range
2. I am working out on average at least 3 days a week

Ughhhhhhhh...I'm soooooooooooooooooo frustrated right now! I never thought I would be that person who was overweight. 198 Fri, 1 Jun 2012 19:34:26 EST What matters most to you? This question was posed to me in my birthday greeting from Spark People. It's also a question that I had been asking myself during the two weeks I've been on vacation.

1. Improving my relationship with God.
2. Being a Godly wife.
3. Being happy and stress free.

I really enjoyed myself while I was off work. Working in my current leadership/management position isn't important to me and doesn't define who I am or how I should act. I can't wait until I retire... Mon, 28 May 2012 19:06:02 EST I ate healthy today Today, I ate really good. I only went over 200 calories but I worked out today so I don't feel so bad. We went out for dinner and I had fish, brown rice, and veggies. I drank water and didn't have dessert. I snacked on some fresh fruit when I got home. 224 Fri, 25 May 2012 21:17:33 EST I ate a whole stick of butter today Well, not technically. But I did use almost a stick of butter to cook the salmon cakes and grits I ate for dinner tonight. The hubby ate about 2/3 of the food I cooked. I'm happy that I stayed within my calorie range but obviously due to the amount of butter I used I exceeded my fat allotment for today.

In the future, I will not put butter in the grits. I will let the hubby put his butter in the grits on his plate. I will also research how to cook salmon cakes without butter... Wed, 23 May 2012 20:40:28 EST BLC 19 Goals
1. Don't go overboard and come up with complicated and/or too many goals.
2. Weigh 150 lbs/and or be a size 10 or smaller (currently a loose 12 and tight 10 depending on the clothes).
3. Complete 5K.
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 18:47:09 EST My day in review I began week 2 of the Rookie 5K running program and realized when I was on the treadmill that I didn't know how to work the stupid interval program on my phone. Luckily the intervals weren't hard to remember. The hubby is going to have to figure it out for me.

Due to a recent promotion I may have to move to another position. I'm excited about leaving but undecided if I should leave because the grass is not always greener. I will have to interview for the new position I'm intere... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 21:34:09 EST This Week's Goals 1. Find a meditation program
2. Complete week 2 of the 5K program
3. Add leg strengthening/core/stretching exercises Sun, 22 Apr 2012 19:42:03 EST First Day of 5K Program Today was a great day. It was 88 degrees and not too bad a day at work. I went to the gym to do my 20 min run routine and came home and did a 15 min stretch video. The stretching was really needed and felt good. My goal this week is to do the 3 running routines. I will start attending Body Pump and adding bike riding as a cross training exercise perhaps in Week 2 or 3. Mon, 16 Apr 2012 20:45:11 EST Biggest Loser Challenge (BLC) 19 Goals My assignment, if I choose to accept it, is to write a BLOG or in my tracker some REASONABLE, ATTAINABLE goals! So here I go:

1. Don't go overboard and come up with complicated and/or too many goals.
2. Weigh 150 lbs/and or be a size 10 or smaller (currently a loose 12 and tight 10 depending on the clothes).
3. Complete 5K.
Sun, 15 Apr 2012 17:29:52 EST First Day Back to Work and Working Out It was my first day back to work since I lost Alexandria. Overall, it was a pretty good day. My body is going to have to get used to being in motion again because other than walking the dog I've pretty much been on the couch or in the bed.

Today I got medically cleared to do gentle exercises for the next couple of weeks before I can begin a normal routine. I did the Start it Up DVD from Slim in 6 and I am sore!

I went over my calorie range by a couple of 100 calories... Mon, 9 Apr 2012 22:22:51 EST Another 2000+ day We ate at Ruby Tuesday and I input my meal when I got home. I was shocked to learn that my meal was 1200 calories with 25% of those calories coming from my strawberry lemonades! That was a total shocker. No more drinks unless it's a diet drink, unsweetened tea w/Splenda or water! Sun, 8 Apr 2012 20:47:14 EST
