I would imagine there are some of you out there in Sparkland who have had the opportunity to wear an aircast boot on their leg! I have now joined the few and proud courtesy of having a surgery on my foot last week!

For those of you who have had experience with walking in one for weeks/months, do you have any advice/wisdom to share what made it easier? The lopsided gait will be a challenge, even with the lifts that I added to my regular shoe that I have tried to match in height. H... A bucket list fulfillment! I get the opportunity to make people jump and jive with coffee or a smoothie or an italian soda or a latte, etc. etc.

Our church has a cool little coffee shop that sadly had been closed for the past year. A friend of mine was able to purchase it and do some major changes to the decor and such. I've always thought it would be fun to work part time in a coffee shop. It fits me in many different areas. But with a varied w... Sat, 7 Apr 2012 07:29:34 EST My daughter impresses me and I'm bragging! My 26 year old daughter, Laura, is a gal who is gifted in many ways. She teaches voice and piano at a private school in St. Louis. She is very much a "do-it-yourselfer" (making their laundry/hand soap, deodarent, (sp?) dog treats, cheez-its, yogurt, gardening, etc.) is a faithful friend and has a delightful, positive sense of humor.

One thing that is not her strength is athletics. Team sports that include balls aren't her thing. She was a band geek/drama/academic student in sch... Tue, 13 Mar 2012 16:16:02 EST Resolution 5k
My husband Ron and I signed up to run this 5k on New Years Eve in Denver; it was so neat to do this with my DH!

Ron is blessed with genetically healthy genes...which means he has good cholesterol numbers, healthy weight, strong heart and lungs, etc. However, with age comes the realization that he needs to up the ante and be more consistent with his exercise. He loves to hike and does well with climbing 14ers... Sun, 1 Jan 2012 19:24:24 EST Holy Hats!! I was honored to be one of the co-speakers at our church's annual Women's Christmas Tea on Saturday. It was an interesting way of how God orchestrated the other speaker, Colleen and I to collaborate on our talk!

Colleen has given many talks about her 500 piece hat collection (true!) that she has, and incorporates history into it. Her grandfather was Joel Estes, who Estes Park, Colorado was named after!

I had mentioned to the tea chairman that Colleen did this and I... Yes, it's true; but it was only a cheeseburger and small fries (and a diet soda...which I never drink anymore!) at McDonald's. Yesterday. And I enjoyed every bite.

Sometimes I wonder why I made the decision to be more focused on my fitness and exercise; but haven't quite made the complete change to better food choices for most of my day. Sat, 8 Oct 2011 12:04:39 EST Training run mistake....oops! I am almost at the end of my training for a half marathon that I signed up for on October 9...the Denver Rock and Roll! It's been a hard season for me to keep up what exactly I need to do; between trips out of town and being sick. That has been frustrating for me, but am still keeping at it.

Today a 9 mile run was scheduled and since it was (and is!) such a beautiful day here in Colorado, I knew the weather was going to be favorable for me. Mon, 30 May 2011 20:32:38 EST What do YOU call pushups? Okay...the fitness coach at the bootcamp I go to gets upset when we call pushups that you do on your toes "boy" or "guy" pushups. Mon, 29 Nov 2010 22:33:47 EST Is it ok to throw up after a half marathon? So my second half marathon was yesterday, November 6, the Heart Center of the Rockies 10K/Half in Colorado. When I moved to Colorado from the midwest in 1981, climbing a 14,000 plus peak in the Rocky Mountains was something that was a future possibility for me to try.
