Just a rotator cuff cleanout, getting rid of bone spurs and moving the bicep tendor around so it does not rub anymore.

I will be reading your blogs and threads over the next few weeks but not sure how much typing will be going on.

Have a great upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

213 This is me trying out my new arm. 246

247
Sharon Mon, 24 May 2010 23:08:27 EST Lots of April 4ths to celebrate Many good things have happened to me and my family on April 4th.

My DH and I were married on April 4, 1981. The doctors found that they were caused by blood clots and she was put on medication to help with that. She was in the hospital for a week while the doctors did tests to figure out why she had blood clots. DH talked with his brother today and SIL has colon cancer that has spread to three other places already. No other warning as far as we know so far. Tomorrow they will meet with the doctors for ... Thu, 18 Mar 2010 21:11:42 EST Saturday Night Questions DS and I had gone to see Avatar on Wed BUT it was not the 3D version SO we decided to try again. We found that it was playing at the local mall so planned on going to the 3:30pm showing. After doing my banking, errands, and doing my workout at the gym, DS showed up late and we left.

Questions:

1. Yes, I know it was a RAINY day BUT why did everyone decide to go to the MALL? It was packed... even more than for Christmas shopping. But we finally found a parking place a ... Sun, 14 Mar 2010 21:17:59 EST On Vacation DH and I were worried about the coming weather front here. We were supposed to leave Thusday AM for a trip to visit my MOM in TX. DS is going along too. Anyway, weather people are calling for a "winter hurricane" to rumble thru Wed night into Thursday. Not too much snow called for where I live but further north and east by the airport, things could be iffy on our chances of getting out.

While we were discussing our options, we received an automated call from Southwest advising ... Tue, 23 Feb 2010 23:05:52 EST Potholes For years and years and years, I ate snacks while driving, reading, watching TV, working, relaxing, and ... amazingly while eating my dinner. No wonder I was just a smuge under 300 lbs. All that eating took up a lot of my time and well just numbed me to anything happening around me including the reading, driving, watching TV, working, etc. All I was "enjoying" was stuffing my feelings down with the snacks and once they were gone, emptiness set in.

Getting rid of all that eating ... Mon, 15 Feb 2010 18:33:00 EST In Control or In Charge Sometimes I wonder if I am "in control" or "in charge" of my healthy lifestyle choices.

To me, In control reminds me of trying to get those Leggs pantyhose back in the little plastic egg container. You push in one place and it just pops up somewhere else. That is how I feel when I think I am in control. Things might look good for a while but sooner or later the whole thing is just going to pop back open and all that "control" is just going to fly all over the place.

I... Sat, 13 Feb 2010 12:08:55 EST Good News from DD and SIL Talked with my DD yesterday and she and her DH were doing well even though they were snowed in. They found out that the insurance will most likely cover the cost of replacing their barn (collapsed under 34" of snow). So the arguements with the insurance company will begin.

They attempted to shovel out but their driveway is way too long and the snow too deep. So they jumped on their ponies bareback (warmer that way) and headed out in search of a farmer with a tractor and front-en... Tue, 9 Feb 2010 17:40:08 EST Bummed and Down I have to say I am really tired of winter now. We got over 24" of snow over the weekend and DD and SIL got around 34" at their place over in VA. I surrender..... put up the white flag.

I woke up with my rotator cuff bothering in my left shoulder so not much shoveling going on for me. DH woke up with a bad cold but he went out and at least shoveled a small path down the driveway to the 4-wheel drive car parked there. Neighbor helped him a bit so that was good and we are thankful... I really need it to keep me from getting too stressed. I have a wide variety of things I like to do when just relaxing. Some of my favs are:

1. Reading a good book. I keep books everywhere.... in my car, in several rooms of my house, in my office.... and yes I read all of them. You just never can have too many good books.

2. Musi... Mon, 1 Feb 2010 21:48:16 EST Be Kind to Yourself Mondays are YOGA nights so last night after my cardio and weights, I went in for my yoga class. My instructor started by discussing the yoga yamas. Yamas are roughly translated into restraints/attitudes/behaviours/disiplines
... anyway you get the idea.

The first yama is:
Ahimsa (Harmlessness) - The word ahimsa literally mean not to injure or show cruelty to any creature or any person in any way whatsoever. Ahimsa is, however, more than just lack of violence as adapted i... Tue, 26 Jan 2010 21:46:02 EST Just tired and hungry all day Tired and hungry all day long. So I am listening this time and eating more today and cutting back on my exercise. Just my bootcamp video, 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical at just barely over 80% max HR, and then a 20 minute cooldown on the bike. No weight training today....tomorrow maybe. Or maybe just nothing tomorrow.

BOSU is just not for me. So you will not be seeing me gently balancing on one. LOL
... Fri, 22 Jan 2010 21:23:58 EST New Emoticons.... WOOHOO Oh boy, new emoticons. I am going to use them to describe my workout.

After a busy day of work, then errands involving DS and DD, I start out my workout with doing the bootcamp video at home..... lower body workout today.... 418 .

Then I slip on my HOT PINK shoes 331 (yes, they are really this color) and was off to the gym. 306 I started off with 30 minutes of cardio on the 315 Sorry it was the ellpitical.... so just prete... Thu, 21 Jan 2010 20:40:34 EST 50 Ways to Soothe Yourself Without Food Business first: worked with my trainer tonight and I definitely worked up a sweat tonight. Dripping, abs aching, arms aching, legs rubbery. Over 500 calories burned, 85% max heart rate for the hour with max over 100%. Did the bootcamp video before I went so that is checked off.

I am happy with the progress I have made so far. Except for a couple of days down with a cold, I have stuck to my food and exercise plan. I know I will continue with this after the bootcamp is over. <BR... Wed, 20 Jan 2010 20:53:19 EST Unstuffed First, I worked late so no time to get to the gym but did do the Bootcamp Video. Also glad that I got in three 10-minute high cardio sessions during the day.

I was reading the Spark Weekly today and read the article on Hunger an Cravings. The article listed the Hunger scale which I have found useful in the past to judge my hunger level and also my fullness level after eating. I have always had trouble judging the fullness level. When I was "eating", I often would eat my snacks ... Tue, 19 Jan 2010 22:19:58 EST 'Ems Lying Words Went I was sick as a kid, my MOM would treat us to 7-up and ice cream. To this day, I just cannot stand 7-up.. but I still love the ice cream. LOL

I have been sick with a cold the last few days and those old memories and desires have come back to haunt me. I am hearing "you are sick so you DESERVE something special", "just one little treat won't matter", "you are eating anything anyway so those special treats won't count up", and my favorite " those special treats will make you... Mon, 18 Jan 2010 14:46:14 EST Simple is not the Same as Easy How many times have I tried to conquer some new skill because I assumed that just because it looked simple that it was also easy??? I remember one time I bugged my MOM for a ukulele because a friend picked one up and just started playing it like she was a pro. Never did I remember that she was musically gifted and played several other instruments. Nope, I bugged MOM until she relented and used her precious Green Stamps (yes remember those) to get one. Well, as you can guess, the playing o... Sat, 16 Jan 2010 22:12:25 EST SP Bootcamp Day 13 Sick sick sick. Hoe with a terrible cold. I don't think I have had a cold in 4-5 years so I guess it is time to pay my dues. LOL 24

I did get up enough energy to do the 6 minute boocamp video for today. And I doubt if I will have ANY trouble with getting in 7-8 hours of sleep tonight. It was interesting to see my readouts from my FitBit today. Tossing and turning last night until 2:00 AM when I got up to take a cold pill. Then calm sleeping. 102 So wil... Fri, 15 Jan 2010 18:25:23 EST Sp Bootcamp Day 12 Feeling yucky today. I think I picked up some cold germs somwehere. Runny nose, stratchy throat, just dragging.

Went to the gym right after work cause if I had sat down for any length of time, I would still be sitting. 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical, 20 minutes of something or other on the recumbent bike, and the sp video. Done for tonight!

Checking out for today. I am hoping it is allergies.

<img src=" Thu, 14 Jan 2010 20:55:50 EST SP Bootcamp Day 11 My day started with my 3-month visit to my endocrinologist. I really like her. She is very easy to discuss things with and she actually remembers little details from one visit to the next. AND she is one of the top rated doctors in the DC area. I would love to have her as my family doctor. But it will not happen since she is a specialist and does not have the time for family practice. Oh well, I actually see her more often than my family doctor anyway.

All my blood tests came ... Wed, 13 Jan 2010 20:29:16 EST SP Bootcamp Day 10 Whee, what workout today! One of my co-workers is having surgery on Thursday so we have been working like crazy to get everything lined up and in order before she is out. SO I got home late. I decided rather than go to the gym that I would run through Jillian Micael's No More Trouble Zones video. Some things in the video had to be modified for my knees... like kicks instead of squats, knee lifts instead of lunges. My ouchie knee got caught in a stuck mode in some leg kicks while on all fo... Tue, 12 Jan 2010 21:16:48 EST SP Bootcamp Day 9 Mondays are YOGA night. Since I started taking my yoga classes, I like to go work out for an hour or so before yoga. THEN by the time it is yoga time, I have already worked out much of the stress from the day and therefore get so much more from my class.

My pre-yoga workout usually is cardio and abs/core work. But due to bootcamp, adjustments were made. 20 minutes cardio on recumbent bike, 20 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes of bootcamp arms workout, and 15 minutes walking... Mon, 11 Jan 2010 21:35:16 EST SP Bootcamp Day 8 Success in anything means changes in habits. I have been reading The Spark and one of the things discussed by Chris are Streaks. He speaks of changing one small think and trying each and every day to extend the streak of performing that small task.

Like the person Chris discusses, the first streak I started four years ago was cutting out sugary sodas. It was small and pretty easy to do. That combined with cutting out sugary treats such as candy and one year later I had lost 35 ... Sun, 10 Jan 2010 14:28:06 EST SP Bootcamp Day 7 Today started with running a bunch of errands included loading and unloading about 500 lbs of traffic cones from my truck to my friends. (Equestrian games equipment). That went great except for the idiot who asked me to move my truck. I was in a parking lot with plenty of room for two lanes to pass. Yes, I was blocking one of the lanes while I unloaded the cones from my truck to my friends. However, the idiot who asked me to move my truck was the one actually blocking the other part of t... Sat, 9 Jan 2010 19:49:59 EST Song Lyrics We have all heard the funny song lyrics before. Well, I just had a mis-hearing happen to me.

I have been listing to the Pussycat Dolls song, "When I group up" since it first came out on iTunes. I always thought the following chorus line was funny:

When I grow up
I wanna see the world
Drive nice cars
I wanna have BOOBIES.

Well just today, I found out that was not the correct lyric. It is supposed to be:

When I grow up
I w... Sat, 9 Jan 2010 11:05:34 EST SP Bootcamp Day 6 ARGH! I had just finished up writing last night's blog and was ready to hit the POST button when my computer just froze up. ARGH! I was tired and now crabby so just went to bed.

So now here I am rewriting the blog from las night summary mode style.

It was Friday so telecommuted from my Laziboy with laptop on my lap for around 10 hours. A stressfull day! Read in The Spark that 5 minutes of stress last for up to 5-6 hours afterwards on your body. If that is true I am... Sat, 9 Jan 2010 10:12:12 EST SP Bootcamp Day 5 Well the day started with me feeling out of sorts just like a square tire. If you grew up where it gets COLD, you might know about square tires. When I was a kid that was what my Dad would call the car tires on really really cold days. We parked the car outside, no garage and the tires would get good and cold and inflexible on some of those cold Iowa mornings. So when we would drive off, the car just did not roll right. It took a bit of time for those "square tires" to regain their flexi... Thu, 7 Jan 2010 22:28:32 EST SP Bootcamp Day 4 It is trainer night and my legs and arms are like rubber right now. OUCH!!

I was doing great today, got in lots of walking around my office floor, some stairs thrown in for good measure least until the knees said NO MORE!! Even ate all my veggies.

Whipped through the SP Day 4 video. Not too bad ... I work out alot with the SB at the gym.

Next onto my trainer for my hour workout. Tonight was BOSU BALL. For those who don't know what that is, let me te... Wed, 6 Jan 2010 20:29:57 EST SP Bootcamp Day 3 I just HATE winter. When I was wearing my "fat" coat winter was my fav season because it was the only time of the year that I could wear all those clothes to hide my body and not sweat like a pig. LOL

Visited the gym again tonight. Most of the "January Resolution" people had cleared out by the time I got there. Not that isn't anything wrong with NY resolutions... I have seen it too many times at the gym. It is crowded with people with good intentions in January but by February... Tue, 5 Jan 2010 22:40:57 EST SP Bootcamp Day 2 The gym was back open again after a furlough for the workers last week. County is trying to save some money at the end of the year.

So did 20 minutes cardio on the recumbent bike, the day 2 SP Bootcamp 10 minute video, did another 20 minutes of upper body workout stuff, and then finished off with a hard 85% max HR workout on the elliptical.

Now I am home fixing dinner and planning on watching the Fiesta Bowl while humming "I FEEL GOOD, I know that I would now......" <... I am abuzz with happiness and confidence. I love this feeling and really never thought much about it until I read it from Chris. Now I know I am on fire with happiness.

How about... Sun, 3 Jan 2010 09:38:30 EST My New Geeky Toy I love gadgets. So when my last pedometer committed suicide last June (jumped right off my waistband into the toilet and was flushed away). I started looking for a replacement. I flirted with a body bugg and then checked out the Omran pedometers debating the pros and cons of each system.

Then I came across the FitBit.... kind of a glorified pedometer... it works on the same motion logic as the Wii (COOL) ... but it also tracks sleep patterns too. WOW now that was different. And ... DS was telling us about how excited all the ... Tue, 22 Dec 2009 07:47:35 EST Cabin Fever Day # 3 Well, I could have gone into work today BUT the Federal Agencies were closed. I still could have gone as the driveway was shoveled and the roads were clear BUT staying home and telecommuting in my sweats while siting in my Lazyboy with the Christmas tree lights on and Christmas music playing softly just made so much more sense.

That also meant that I could just walk to the kitchen for my lunch and afternoon snack. 4

I could also be available if DH had any ques... Mon, 21 Dec 2009 17:15:19 EST Cabin Fever Day 2 Oh happy day, I woke up to sunshine and to DH already hard at work shoveling. After a nice high protein breakfast, I went out to help and added aches to my already existing pains. BUT the driveway is cleared and melting a bit in the mid-day sun. The cars are all tucked safely back in the garage facing out. So I am ready to head out for work tomorrow.

The afternoon was spent doing my weekend challenge.... that would mean sleeping... Sun, 20 Dec 2009 18:11:48 EST Cabin Fever Day 1 I don't know about you but if I am forced to stay home with no hope of getting out, I develop cabin fever pretty quick. I could work all day at home with no problem as long as I know that I could get out and about if I wanted to. But today with the snow storm going up the East Coast, there is no way I will be going anywhere. Its that totally losing control going on stress thing.

SO....instead of letting that cabin fever stress set in and cause a bunch of off plan eating, I made ...
