SKINNYME82's SparkPeople Blog SKINNYME82's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community New Year Resolutions This is going to be my best year ever! First, I will work on the Gift of the Spirit, JOY. I have found joy at Genesis Club with many new friends and meaningful work. I will endeavor to spread that JOY throughout my life bringing it to everyone I meet. Second, I will become more confident, promising not to sabotage myself with negative self-talk. Finally, my Spark Goal is to run in the Falmouth Road Race this August, an eight mile run along the Cape Cod shoreline! 411 Sat, 1 Jan 2011 12:41:31 EST Joining the YMCA I am excited about joining the YMCA because it is so hard for me to exercise in the cold! I am hoping that the atmosphere and camaraderie of the gym will spur me on to lose the last 20 pounds of my goal. I haven't gained weight this fall but I haven't lost much either. I really need to get back on my exercise routine to push through this barrier. Wish me luck!! Wed, 22 Dec 2010 18:52:03 EST Spreading the Spark Last night I had a public presentation for work with a captive audience of 40 people. I was able to spread the Spark and give out cards about
I love this community and the great support I have found here and I wanted to share it with others to encourage them on their weight loss journey. Tue, 22 Jun 2010 05:14:24 EST 3 Months Later, Under 200 pounds 3 months following my dear friend's death due to a heart attack, I have slipped under the 200 pound mark!!! I started at 237lbs in January and it was very slow progress for the past two weeks where each day the scale balanced at 201 lbs. This morning the scale read a firm 199 lbs and I am ecstatic! My Great Dane and I have been putting on the miles enjoying our time together on the beaten path. I attribute my recent loss to a discovery that I am allergic to gluten! The wheat allergy had ... Mon, 21 Jun 2010 09:26:58 EST Working toward a gluten free diet Hi all! It has been recently determined that I need to go on a gluten free diet. Does anyone have a good recipie resource cookbook? Mon, 7 Jun 2010 04:56:32 EST Remembering those who have protected our freedoms. As a proud mother of a young Marine, please join me in a moment of reflection for all the service men and women who have given their lives to protect our freedoms. Everything we do today has been made possible by their acts of ultimate sacrifice. Please pray for our present service men and women that they stay out of harm's way. Mon, 31 May 2010 06:00:53 EST Only 49 Years Old Yesterday, my best friend died of a heart attack. She was only 49 years old, my age. She was a gentle, giving soul who loved the Lord and was generous beyond compare. She was a talented photographer, bright, and always concerned for others. Her lifestyle, however, was unhealthy and she was very overweight with most it carried as belly fat. She knew the basics of nutrition but didn't work a program or exercise much. The consequences were tragic.
At the start of my journey with Spark ... Sun, 28 Mar 2010 06:43:30 EST Breaking Old Habits: Help! We must first make our habits, then our habits make us." John Dryden
When I started this journey with SparkPeople I was prepared to be disciplined and motivated. But what I learned was that willpower got me no where. My key to successful weight loss has been replacing one habit at a time. Water, not soda: Apples, not cookies: Half portions, not excessive portions, etc. I've learned to eat more slowly, smaller and but frequent portions, and the hardest component for me: exercise. ... Sun, 21 Mar 2010 05:47:32 EST The Glory of Greek Yogurt In the past, I haven't cared much for plain nonfat yogurt. I always went for the extra calorie vanilla variety. Greek yogurt has changed all that for me. With a thicker texture and less sour taste I find plain very palatable. I'm sure it has a few more calories than regular yogurt but not as much as flavored yogurt. Minus 2 degrees and counting down! And the wind is enough to take your breath away. It was too cold to walk the dogs, especially since the Dane has such short fur. I have a pony blanket for her but I was still worried about exposure.

I bought a serious weight/body fat index scale at Ocean State Job Lot today for a really good price. My last Sunbeam only had three feet left on the bottom! For those of you who have a warehouse/outlet store like Big Lots or something, it's a real... Tue, 29 Dec 2009 18:04:14 EST Christmas Disaster Averted! I can hardly believe how well I did with my eating this holiday. My "tricks" were to drink my water and I had a sugar free hard candy between meals. The water filled me up and the hard candy satisfied my sweet tooth. I cleaned out my kitchen of all the junk food and stocked up on good veggies, fresh salsa, and whole grain goodies. Topped it all off with skinless chicken breast and plain yogurt. I am good to go for the next week's meal plan! Not one sweet or piece of pie came home with m... Sat, 26 Dec 2009 20:50:18 EST All Things New Once again, I am returning to Spark People to begin the journey I abandoned last year. Due to a medication addition I gained 70 pounds last year! It is time to lose that weight, lest I should permanently slip into serious complications like diabetes. I discontinued that medicine 4 weeks ago and I have already lost 15 pounds. That is just the beginning of a more serious effort to get to my goal weight of 170.
In a season of birth and renewal, let's all give ourselves a chance to sta... Fri, 25 Dec 2009 06:07:13 EST
