I know I need to modify my goals whenever I seem to stop making progress. Either with better habits or more consistent excersize. I am having more trouble than usual coming up with short term goals. But here is this weeks. I will excersize at least 30 minutes 6days this week. It doesn't matter what type or if it is all at once I just need to get up and move. I need to return to this next week and see how I do. So to checking in once a week also. It's a plan. Mon, 6 Jan 2014 05:08:35 EST Sleep As I work my 4th night shift this week I feel my sleep has been good each day. But not not great. I feel like my schedule is out of wack some. I have worked nights for a few years now and it has never been a problem but this week I am not sleeping well. I usually ride my bike to work and it has been drizzling all week so no bike ride maybe that is the issue I need that little bit of excersize to clear the cobwebs in the morning. Fri, 1 Nov 2013 04:05:03 EST Plateaus I am working hard to lose that last 5 pounds for a month now. It just won't budge. At 50 should I just give in and let it stay there or should I fight for the last of the weight. I am happy with my body and my life. Is it time to work on maintenance. My favorite football team the Broncos are rolling over teams like nothing. I met my activity goals yesterday. So far this is a great week. Mon, 30 Sep 2013 02:35:03 EST All or nothing <em>386</em> I don't usually have trouble with getting back on track when I eat junk. I just do better the next time. But exercise I have often had an all or nothing attitude. The last couple of months I have been working on doing short workouts on days when I don't have time or when I don't feel like doing anything. This is helping me to work out daily without feeling like I have to do the whole hour long workout. Sun, 1 Sep 2013 13:57:56 EST Long Day I am very tired tonight. My Spark Coach asked me to call myself from 10 years in the future. I will meet all of my goals I will be getting ready to retire and start travelling the country and the world. I will e healthy and moving around well hiking in my beloved mountains. Living in the mountains and hiking daily. I would tell myself that by staying healthy and keeping my weight under control I have made all this possible. My good choices now have made life easier for my future self. I will be thanking myself. Mon, 19 Aug 2013 03:48:25 EST Birthdays So I am 50 years old today. Feeling good about life and how things are going. I feel like I am in better shape now than I was at 25. My health is good, my asthma is under control. I finances are in decent shape. I no millionaire put I make a decent living. I am comfortable in who I am and where I am going. Things are good right now. I don't freak out about my weight or my shape any more. I am doing the best I can most of the time and that is all that is important. Tue, 13 Aug 2013 13:30:42 EST Good workout My spark coach wants me to blog about how I know when I have had a good workout. There are several signs. I am slightly tired. I feel energized. (I know contradiction in terms.) I am a little bit sore the next day. I am a little sweaty or alot depending on the workout. I am a little short of breath. As I said lots of ways to tell if I have had a good workout. Mon, 12 Aug 2013 19:05:22 EST Bike ride Tomorrow I am riding 24 miles on my bike to raise money for cancer. Looking forward to it. I have a new bike to ride and it should be fun. I am trying to get #backontrack for August by doing more long activities. I am going hiking on Tuesday also. I hiked 16 miles last Saturday. getting out in the outdoors seeing more of the state I love. But when it comes to exercise I tend to be an all or nothing exerciser. Meaning I exercise every day or no days even if it is just going for a walk. When I take a day or two of say for instance when I am feeling ill, I tend to take a long time to get going again. I lose all motivation after a few days. Eventually I do get moving again but it takes a long while. Tue, 23 Jul 2013 02:47:12 EST Rockies Game So I went to the Rockies game last night and the bar with friends. Rode my bike to the game <BR> so got plenty of exercise. But completely blew the diet. Had 3 beers and the traditional foot long dog. I don't feel guilty today I still like myself and life is good. YES 8:00 am I work nights I am waiting for the guys doing dry walling in my house to come so I can go to bed. Why when I am tired and bored do I always want to eat. Cooking dinners out of the book and taking the leftovers to work. I have lost 10 pound in a little over a month. I have more energy and things are going well. Wed, 3 Jul 2013 10:56:06 EST Spark solution So I started the spark solution 1 week ago but I have been cheating on my diet so I think I am going to start over. I did lose a pound even with the cheating but I think I can do better. I cook most of my meals at home but I have to be able to take them to work also, so I need foods I can warm in the microwave or eat raw. So I may need to substitute some things but will try to substitute more raw vegetables. Here's to continued efforts. Tue, 25 Jun 2013 00:52:42 EST Walking Last night I went for a long walk about 5 miles. When I got home I was not tired. My legs did not hurt I did not feel like I had been walking forever. That tells me it is time to step it up again more activity push a little harder. Every time things get easy it is time to step it up more. I can't deicide if having no appetite is a bad thing except if I can't get the minimum calories. I got over 1000 I think that's pretty good. These antibiotics should kick in soon. I will do this because today is a new day. Sun, 16 Jun 2013 13:37:00 EST Getting there. I blogged a while back about the plateau that I had hit I was there for almost a year no matter what I did. So in the last couple of weeks I changed my workout dramatically more body weight, weight work less heavy lifting and upping the intensity on my aerobics to almost anaerobic levels. I am finally losing weight again down almost 5 pounds in the last month it is about 0.5 lbs. a week but it is coming off yeah. Fri, 7 Jun 2013 10:33:08 EST Spark Coach plateau-busting program I finished my 28 day plateau busting program today I feel like it has worked I only lost 3 lbs. but I have definitely lost inches. I will continue with spark coach for now it is less expensive than a lot of programs and seems to work. Tue, 28 May 2013 07:10:07 EST Weather So I am visiting Boston I have been all week the weather has been cold wet and rainy all week but I have kept going and filled my days with activity. However today I just cold not keep going in the face of all this rain. I planned to walk the freedom trail but it just didn't happen. Tomorrow I will get up and walk the freedom trail but not today. Sat, 25 May 2013 17:31:24 EST Sleep So I am reading that I need to get good sleep. That I need to go to bed at the same time every night. The only problem with this is I work nights and at least three days a week I sleep during the day. But the rest of the world thinks I need to be awake during the day the rest of the days. Makes sleeping interesting at best and I had worse issues when I was working days. I keep trying. Fri, 10 May 2013 23:39:05 EST Weight day So my spark coach says I need to pick a day to weigh in a do it consistently on that day I weighed in on Friday last week I will try to keep it up. My weigh in day varies as my work varies week to week. I work night shift and the days I switch back and forth are bad days to weigh in so we will see. Mon, 6 May 2013 13:22:57 EST interval training I like interval train for starters I have moderate to severe asthma and I get very short of breath easily so I like short intervals with active rest as it allows me to increase my aerobic capacity without feeling like I am dying. I went to the mountains this weekend and could not track my food so I ate to much. Still working on it. But I went snow shoeing for 3 hours on Saturday sore on Friday.
