Since the restaurants will be packed this evening, we decided to eat in. My Dear Hubby made suggestions for what he'd like to eat, and I am happy to oblige his requests. I love to cook, so of course, I'm delighted to indulge this evening with a fun and delicious menu. Thanks to I've found several tasty recip... Thu, 14 Feb 2013 12:02:08 EST Patience is more that a virtue when you're TTC! It's amazing how long it takes for two measly weeks to pass before the TWW is over. Hubs and I would be over the moon if we could finally have a sticky bean after so many disappointments in the past year.

I am sure I am not the only one on this journey, so I thought I'd post. So glad to be back on SparkPeople, committed, and making so many new healthy changes in my life. So glad to have found a place to voice my thoughts about becoming a stronger and healthier woman. So glad ... Tue, 5 Feb 2013 16:47:35 EST After two years, I found my Spark! I was replying to a message on the Louisiana team page and realized that I was starting a blog in my reply. When I am passionate about a topic, the words come a flowing... As you embark on reading this blog, please beware - it's long, but it's heartfelt and true!

The thread asked people to post how long they had been member of the SparkPeople. I've been a member since January 2011. It's my two year anniversary, I guess! However, I've only found my Spark in the last month.... ... Sat, 2 Feb 2013 10:46:08 EST Setting Goals for February I've made progress this first consistent month on SparkPeople (after being inactive for a year and a half). I've lost more weight than I thought I would, and I've been consistent logging my food and making healthful choices. I am proud of myself and hope to continue to see progress!

So... I'm making my goals for February to continue my progress! My goals are to:

- log everything I eat everyday using my computer or phone app.

- eat at least 7 servings of fruit... Thu, 31 Jan 2013 21:10:05 EST Understanding indulgence and being thankful for it... Today I succumbed to indulgence. First of all, I ate a brownie with my students to celebrate a birthday and then enjoyed a delicious dinner of fries and a cheeseburger at a gourmet burger joint with my DH. I won't lie. I enjoyed every single bite!

However, I also logged each bite and realized that what I ate this afternoon and tonight is what I am supposed to eat in a full day - WOW! How eye opening! Of course, I wouldn't eat like this on a regular basis - who could?! But, I ... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 21:46:07 EST My Small Goals Prove Enjoyable... and Effective! After nearly two years of inactivity on SparkPeople, I've hit the ground running since the new year. I am going to make 2013 my year to become the healthy woman that I have always dreamed I can be.

My goals have been small. They are:
- to log everything that I eat.
- to have 20 minutes of activity each day - no excuses.
- to drink at least 12 cups of water each day.

So far so good - especially since I have been seeing small yet consistent results.
... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 22:40:53 EST Sweet temptation of King Cake... sadly disappointing! It's Mardi Gras season in New Orleans.

Each Friday, as a teacher, I am given the task of cutting up and distributing king cake to the kids. The person with the baby brings the cake the following Friday. It's an endless cycle of sweets in the classroom until Mardi Gras vacation. The king cake was forgotten last Friday, yeah! But, it showed up today, boo!

Drippy sugary glaze sprinkled with sparkling purple, green, and yellow sugar atop freshly baked cinnamon brioch... Mon, 14 Jan 2013 21:44:57 EST I looked in the mirror... And what did I see looking back at me? I saw a "cute" petite lady with a head full of curls that she wishes were straight! I saw loving yet saddened eyes that used to sparkle and smile all the time. I saw an athletic frame that's never been "skinny." I saw legs that were built to move this body around, yet that just sit each day and go nowhere....

Wow! Who is that... ME?! Not good.

I feel terrible that I have allowed myself to get this way. I feel terrible that ... Tue, 1 Mar 2011 17:19:02 EST
