I thought I'd buried her fat a## but I realize she just goes into hiding and then comes out for surprise visits. I'll be minding my own business just Sparking, tracking, working out and making progress. Then out of nowhere...BOOM! Thu, 13 Jun 2013 21:02:51 EST S.M.A.R.T. Goals for BLC22 I learned during the last BLC that I do not have control over what the scale says on any particular day (namely Wednesday 334 ), so none of my goals are specific to weight. What I can control is each behavior that is linked to living a healthier lifestyle and if acted on consistently, will ultimately lead to weight loss.

My BLC22 S.M.A.R.T. Goals:
1. Drink at least 8 cups of water per day.
2. Do not drink any soda or juices.
3. Eat at least 4 servings of... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 14:12:02 EST Weekly Goal Chart Posted...Check! I'm super excited about beginning round 22 of the BLC. One of the things I've found immensely helpful to me in my journey recently is posting a weekly goal chart. Of course I have goals that I track on SP, but having some of them in my face daily has helped with my consistency. I don't post all of my goals, but for the ones I do, I strive to check off each one. I love seeing the whole week at-a-glance. I post these on the fridge to keep me honest and today I'm sharing with you. Here's an exam... Thu, 6 Jun 2013 12:48:28 EST Finding My Mojo; BLC22 Plan for Success *Sigh*...How does it turn out that you have all of the tools, information and experience required for you to meet your goals but you hit a speed bump and land in a space of blah? Yep, I'm in Blah-ville right now. I started Sparking in October 2012 and instantly fell in love. I'd Spark for hours at the expense of other things and had to admit I was addicted. I had a slow but steady WL pace going and all was well in the world.
Fast forward seven months. I've had about a week and a half of... Tue, 4 Jun 2013 22:28:17 EST Today Was the Day I knew it when I woke up. I hate waking up early to an alarm on days when I don't have to work. But something was pressing me to get up and go run this 5k. I've known this thing was coming up for over a year. Last year the whole family did it together and it was a disaster! My kids HATE running. But DH was doing the 10k and I just knew the kids and I could pull off the 5k. Well, to my utter disappointment, about a mile and a half into the thing, the kids decided they just wouldn't try at all.... Sat, 27 Apr 2013 17:37:25 EST If This Man Don't Stop Cookin'! I know it's Easter. Easter is usually complimented by delicious food. I'm just not feelin the food today. I woke up and headed to the gym for an hour of self love before enjoying the day with the family. I come back and despite our conversations around a pretty healthy menu for Easter dinner, DH has decided to totally revamp the plans. Why are we eating fried chicken on Easter??? Who does that?! But now that I'm smelling it cooking...I'm just sending up all kinds of silent prayers to God for ... Sun, 31 Mar 2013 14:22:53 EST Damn You, Costco! I love Costco. It's almost like an everything in bulk wonderland where you find great products and awesome tastings while you shop. Where else do you go in with a list of what you know you want, and you leave with that plus way too much of stuff you didn't know you wanted...or didn't know existed until you tasted it while you were shopping?! If I grab another huge cake, tub of crab chowder or box of calamari (who knew I'd like calamari?), DH is going to flip! Ok...I must stop tasting this stu... Sat, 16 Mar 2013 21:43:03 EST Jillian Michaels Approves! I am so excited! You know how you decide to do something and you think it's a great idea, but you get quizzical looks from other people and it makes you second-guess your decision? Then something happens that confirms you were on the right track and you feel 345 !

Well, I'm having that experience right now. I subscribe to Health magazine (primarily because I had extra mileage points that I needed to use up, but that part isn't important). This month Jillian Michaels was ... Fri, 8 Mar 2013 19:19:35 EST Just Out of It I am just out of it. No specific reason. I'm not sad or depressed. I'm taking my vitamins and eating healthy. I'm still staying on my plan but I have zero energy. My last workout was Saturday and even though I finished, my body did not show up to meet my mind. Last time I felt like this I had to take a rest week and just stop with the fitness. My mind doesn't want to accept that but I am just not feeling like doing much of anything right now... 46 Tue, 5 Mar 2013 20:20:11 EST Lingerie It sure is nice to get reaquainted with some of the things your fat self kept you from enjoying. 344 I'm just saying. 211 Mon, 25 Feb 2013 16:57:11 EST 10% GONE! Finally Whew! The road is long but the destination is certain. I finally hit the small milestone of taking off 10% of my starting weight. I initially thought I'd write some thoughtful, educational blog about all the health benefits you gain when you lose just 10% of your weight. But you know what? I'm not doing that. Oh sure, there's a load of valuable information that I'm sure someone would benefit from reading but today I'm in another place. I'm so happy that I've decided to just BE happy. I'm taki... Fri, 22 Feb 2013 09:59:45 EST I Don't Care A few days ago I was feeling a little down with my progress on the scale and I posted a blog about it. We all know the scale can be fickle. Today I realized that while I may have brief episodes of discomfort with seeing a number other than what I want, overall I don't care.
I don't care that the scale isn't moving as fast as I'd like for it to. I don't care that I've done "diets" in the past that had faster results. I don't care that it's definitely going to take longer to reach my goal... Mon, 18 Feb 2013 14:56:01 EST In the Dumps... Yep, I'm a little 39 right now. It's been a total of four months that I've been on my Spark journey and I've lost 17lbs. I'm happy about the loss. Any progress is good. Slow and steady wins the race. Then today in all my infinite wisdom I decided to take a look at my Weight Loss Over Time report and my Calorie Differential Over Time report that Spark provides. Well what do we have here? According to the Weight Loss Over Time report I should be about 20lbs less than what I am right... Fri, 15 Feb 2013 17:51:13 EST Need a Date? During this week of love, people will embark on dates. Mostly with love interests, but not necessarily so. Sometimes we need other kinds of dates. A date with a parent or sibling, a date with a distant friend to reconnect, or a date with ourselves to find peace. (soft music plays and you think lovely thoughts).
Today, I had a date with the GYM 328 231 ! (music comes to a screeching halt) Yes, it was a real date and I enjoyed it. Oh how I'd missed the gym. You see, ... Fri, 8 Feb 2013 17:13:09 EST Super Bowl Fatty I don't usually watch football. Aside from the unlimited eye candy, I can't seem to find a reason to get into it. But everyone watches the Superbowl if only for the commercials and half-time show, right? Why does it also give us a pass to eat and drink with reckless abandon? Thanksgiving, I stayed in range. Christmas, I stayed in range. New Years Eve, I stayed in range...but had a bottle of wine that took me over. Fri, 25 Jan 2013 21:19:55 EST Dem tens!!! So I've been losing inches over the last few months and I struggled with buying new clothes. 40 You know that debate you have with yourself about how you will look in the dressing room and whether or not the next size down will actually fit. 234 In your head, you're still fat. 15 Well, all my suit pants started looking stinky in the butt. Sun, 20 Jan 2013 19:22:15 EST It's Not That Serious. Or is it??? I live in a community where people take their fitness very seriously. At any given time of the day or night, you WILL see people out and about in all parts of the neighborhood walking, jogging, running, biking or whatever. (One day there was even this guy on a unicycle with a guitar headed to the hookah bar but that's another story) 246 . Anyway, I grew up in a different part of the country, where we didn't take our fitness so seriously. We celebrated life at a much slower pace, an... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 10:56:09 EST Ravenous!!! An intruder overtook my body late last night and as a result I am completely ravenous! The intruder is "Uncle Hormones". He always shows up right before "Aunt Flow" arrives in town. I'm not too fond of either one of their a$$es but family is family, right? Thank God the visits are short. They are making me uncomfortable in my own space and I don't like it one bit! Sun, 13 Jan 2013 13:05:35 EST Back from my Trip! Yep, yesterday I went to Pityland. It was a short trip. Fun while it lasted, but I'm back! But I'm working on it. I decided a couple months ago that I would stick with this lifestyle change and journey no matter how long it takes. I'm still committed to that but there will be hard times. Today is one of those days. I LOVE SP and am happy in general, but I just cannot understand why the scale isn't moving the way it should. Yes, I know there are non-scale victories and I'm happy for those but let's face it; we all want to see that number on the scale drop. So today... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 12:53:29 EST Don't. Touch. My. It's Definitely You. Saturday started off wonderfully. Me and the hubby got up and did a 5-miler. I was high on energy and I killed it. Him...not so much. But he made it. Afterward, we eat, shower, run know, typical Saturday stuff. The plan is to go home, make hot wings and fries and chill out. (Don't judge me. I stayed within my calorie range 4 ).

Ok, so fast forward and DH decides to invite one of his buddies over to watch football. I am SO not the 'come on over to my h... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 23:11:42 EST Challenges Rule!! I'm one of those who can easily bore of something (or even someone) quickly. I've said many times I have no patience. Thu, 3 Jan 2013 20:42:30 EST I Need a Salad...Seriously Have you ever noticed that once you're in the habit of eating well, your body rejects the crap you used to eat? In all my glorious wisdom I decided that I would "enjoy" myself yesterday and indulge in a few drinks and sweets. I didn't overdo it...not really. I tracked everything, and while I DID double my caloric intake for the day I figured 'so what'. Well, today I just feel like crud. I really need a big green leafy salad and that's all. Crazy No, he isn't a member. He is in fact a very fit, muscular guy who is completely anti-diet, anti- food measuring, anti-food weighing and overall anti-food monitoring. I cannot tell you how many times I have politely ignored his audible sighs or slick comments when I have read food labels, tracked and logged food into SP. His motto is 'go to the gym daily and eat whatever you want'. Works for him; not so much for me.

My SP journey is now about 2.5 months in, and during this time I h... Wed, 26 Dec 2012 15:58:41 EST Enjoys Taking a Day Off I have all these daily goals that I track on SP. Based on some of my teams, a few of the goals are fitness related; like 5 minutes of excercise per day, etc. Even though 5 minutes or 10 minutes is very minimal, I've found that I really enjoy having just one day per week with no exercise. I usually have a long and intense gym session on Saturday, followed by regular "activity" all day like walking, shopping, etc. On Sunday I am feeling the pain and need a day to recoup. That's my story and I'm... Sun, 23 Dec 2012 21:13:49 EST No More SP Quizzes? I LOVE earning my daily Spark points. About a week ago I ran out of quizzes. Yep, I have taken them all. Don't know how that's possible. I want more quizzes!!! Thu, 20 Dec 2012 18:32:32 EST 5 Miles, 10 Pounds...Happy Friday! I'm starting the weekend off right. This morning I completed my weekly goal of a 5 mile run/walk and only walked 9 minutes of the 68 it took. Woohoo! I also woke up to a one pound loss on the scale. It's taking forever but I WILL get there. I LOVE to see my little tracker man moving in the right direction! Happy Friday Sparklers! Fri, 14 Dec 2012 12:06:22 EST Leaving Me in the Dust? Okay, my first Spark Team is the SP Class of 10/7-10/13. There are many members of our class, and I'm sure we have some who've fallen down a couple times, those who have stayed on track totally, and others who have given up (hopefully temporarily). I'm still around, but I've seen a couple team mates' blogs who've already lost more than twice the weight I have in the same amount of time! I'm jealous! I track religiously and workout 4-6 days per week. I know this is an individual journey but th... Tue, 11 Dec 2012 21:02:48 EST Burning Calories by Accident! The Hip Hop Dance Experience Kinect game is SOOO awesome! I think I overdid it today but I'm having fun! I spent over an hour at the gym this morning, walked a few miles in a parade with my daughter's community service group a couple hours later, then competed with the family in a dance off with our new game. I am KILLING them! SP says I've burned over 1300 calories in fitness today and I've only eaten like 1000, but I'm having a blast! Sat, 8 Dec 2012 22:41:55 EST Testy, Testy They say it takes 30 days for something to become a habit? So as SP becomes a lifestyle for me I'm noticing things bothering me that I never would have thought of in the past. For example, I rarely go out for lunch (even before joining SP), but if I do...I find myself getting really testy when I can't find the restaurant's nutrition info on site or online. Chicken lettuce wraps sounds like a good choice, but I need to see some numbers people! I want to know what I'm eating! 28 Wed, 5 Dec 2012 14:56:35 EST Finally Reached 5%! Wow! I am happy to report that I've finally reached my first goal of losing that first 5%. This is really a lesson for me, learning to be patient and stay the course. I have done diets in the past that allowed me to lose 9 pounds in 2-3 weeks. This time I feel like I waited forever! But I guess that's the beauty of deciding NOT to diet anymore. SP is a lifestyle change and I've embraced it fully. Looking forward to hitting that 10% loss!!! Hopefully it won't take 8 weeks like the first 5 <em... Mon, 3 Dec 2012 14:04:34 EST Last Chance Today is December 1st and I've realized it's the beginning of the end. The end of another year, and my last shot at reaching a significant weight loss goal during 2012. If I lose ONE more pound, I will have reached the goal of losing 5% of my October/SP/starting weight. However, I'd like to push the envelope a bit. I want to lose THREE pounds. It's a mental thing but I want to get the hell out of 170-ville and enter the 160s again. It's going to be awesome to start the new year at a weight I ... Sat, 1 Dec 2012 21:11:47 EST Strong and Athletic...who me? Today a lady I work with told me I look strong and athletic. Now, this wasn't one of those "oh, you must be losing weight because you're looking great" kinda comments. It was a lady I don't really know, but we see each other around the office. We got to talking about Zumba and tamarind and out comes this comment. I don't think my body has changed much since we started working together, so I took it as a general assessment of how she views my body. Isn't it amazing how other people view us vs.... Thu, 29 Nov 2012 12:52:01 EST Level 7! Yeah baby! Am I the only one who gets amped up to gain Spark Points and reach the next level? I don't know what it is but for us "achievers" it really provides a sense of accomplishment. Or am I just weird? Lol 104 Sat, 24 Nov 2012 19:25:33 EST Thanksgiving and Black Friday on track...CHECK! I've seen posts from so many Sparklers indicating that they did well during Thanksgiving. I also was able to stay on track. Got the fitness in and did not go over the calorie range. Black Friday went well too. Shopping kept me so busy that I barely got to eat. It just feels great to know you can survive holidays and extended weekends without excess. 104 Fri, 23 Nov 2012 23:07:13 EST Have a Sparkling Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm so excited to enjoy my family and food today while still practicing moderation in all things. It's still early in the day, but I have NO desire to overeat, go over my calorie limit or miss out on fitness. Whether you plan to practice the 80/20, 90/10 or some other rule, enjoy your day and keep Sparking! I know I will. 104 381 426 427 428 429 Thu, 22 Nov 2012 10:43:38 EST Need a Re-Do Okay, I'm trying to find my mojo again. I thought I made good choices until I came home and logged all my foods into my tracker. WOW! Not to mention that the party weekend turned into a total of 5 days of not so great eating. So I need to get back on track this week. I've been stuck at a 6lb loss ... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 15:38:33 EST Consistent Action I received the following in email today from a motivational source I subscribe to:

The only reason people fail comes down to one thing...the inability to take consistent action. Consistent action means that you do something on a daily basis. The ability to take consistent action separates successful people from unsuccessful ones.

So the successful ones don't have more dedication or motivation. They just consistently take the steps necessary to reach the goal. This was ... Thu, 1 Nov 2012 21:10:24 EST How Many of Your Spark Friends Have You Connected with This Week?
