Could it have anything to do with the major pizza and popcorn binge I had a few nights ago? Why do I do these things to myself? I know I have high blood pressure and I've seen what can happen when it gets out of control. Sometimes I just crave salt and have no self control. Tue, 18 Jun 2013 11:34:56 EST Weigh In 6/11/13 175.2 Tue, 11 Jun 2013 10:32:35 EST Weigh In 5/28/13 176.6 so I'm down 1.6 lbs this week Tue, 28 May 2013 09:19:07 EST Weigh In 5/21/13 178.2 (again) Tue, 21 May 2013 10:43:06 EST Weigh In 178.2 My weight is up again. I'm so bummed out. Tue, 23 Apr 2013 10:04:36 EST Weigh In Phooey! I'm up .2 lbs from 175.8 to 176 this week.

Got in a LOT of exercise doing a spring cleaning on the yard this week. Caught a glimpse of 174 one day, but it was soon gone. Maybe I'll see it again this week! Tue, 16 Apr 2013 11:00:06 EST Weigh-In Last week was 177, this week 175.8

The last time I did SP, I was spending so much time blogging and so on that it really was interfering with the other things I wanted to do with my life. This time, I am trying to keep my computer time to a minimum, so my blogging is just not the same. I know these posts are not very interesting, but I really need to keep it this way. Tue, 9 Apr 2013 14:19:11 EST "Flawed" About being "different" and learning to love the idea. This was sent to me by a friend in Canada.

8&utm_campaign=115787_NFB_Films_2013-0
3-28_A&utm_medium=email&utm_source=NFB
-All_Recipients
Sat, 30 Mar 2013 10:56:45 EST All Bummed Out! Weighed myself this morning and I am exactly the same weight I was on 2/26. Rats! I was really expecting a loss, but it's just not happening. I even measured my waist, but there was no change there, either.

Somebody push me off this plateau, please! Tue, 19 Mar 2013 10:59:28 EST Cartoons From Around the World! Thanks to my great friend, Deb (who lives in the frozen wastes of Canada LOL) for sharing this with me! I could watch these for hours.

ners-animation-watch-kids-cartoons/?ec
=en20130221&utm_campaign=114755_NFB_Fi
lms_2013-02-21&utm_medium=email&utm_so
urce=NFB-All_Recipients
Mon, 11 Mar 2013 13:15:53 EST Thank Heaven for Housework! 40 Yeah, I know...It's not my favorite thing to do, either. There's a big "but" coming--BUT, it sure can eat up some calories! I don't count the little 10 minute dusting jobs, just the big blocks of time that I set aside for the big stuff. This morning, it was mopping and cleaning out my chickens' "command module" (where they sleep at night and lay eggs during the day. The mopping was the start of my spring cleaning in the house.

To track my calories burned by the moppi... Wed, 6 Mar 2013 11:03:57 EST This Will Make You Smile ! ...and give you ideas on how to burn some calories!

feature=player_embedded
Sun, 3 Mar 2013 11:14:30 EST Weigh- In I'm down to 177.2 as of this morning! Fifteen uncomfortable, annoying pounds of frustration gone! That just about sums it up! Tue, 26 Feb 2013 09:35:03 EST Weigh In *Oh Joy, Oh Bliss!"* One of my teams has been having a "Thirteen Pounds in Thirteen Weeks" challenge, and I've been eager to see if I could do it. As of this morning, I've lost over fourteen pounds and I am over the moon!

Tue, 12 Feb 2013 10:10:29 EST Faulty Measuring Tape? The last time I was on SP, I didn't take my measurements and, as I recall, there were times when I wished I had. So, this time I did. Now, when the scale shows no change I can take some solace in seeing that at least my measurements are getting smaller.

It's been a little over a month since I last measured myself and here are the results: my upper arms are .25" smaller, my thighs are the same, my waist has shrunk 4" 9
but I'm coming up with a 4" gain on my hips! ... Mon, 4 Feb 2013 10:03:26 EST Second Knitting Class First, the car wouldn't start because of a bad connection to the battery.
Then, the windshield needed to be scraped.
Somehow, I got to class on time!

Today, we used the swatches we had knitted to check our guage. We did seed stitch until we were comfortable with it. Then, we were to begin on our simple Teddy Bear Sweater. We knit another swatch with different sized needles and checked that for guage.

Homework was to follow the pattern (chunks of ribbing, seed... Sat, 2 Feb 2013 16:20:05 EST Weigh-In Yay! I've now lost 12 pounds since Jan 1st! My pants feel more comfortable and I'm slipping back into better health. I like this a lot! Tue, 29 Jan 2013 10:37:32 EST Knitting 101 Today was the first day of my knitting class. I was so psyched that I laid out my clothes last night, took my shower last night, and packed my bag of yarn and goodies last night. Good thing I did because I got up thinking the class started at 10:00. About 8:45 my DH said, " I'll finish washing the dishes so you won't be late." The class started at 9:00!

There are only three of us in the class (plus the teacher) and the other two didn't know anything about knitting except that it ... Sat, 26 Jan 2013 17:42:40 EST St*tch and B*tch Well, my plan for getting in some cardio getting to and from S&B was thwarted by riding my bike. It only took 12 minutes round trip!

I think I'm going to like this group. There's a wide variety of people who come and it's so much fun to see what they're making. There's also brilliant conversation and lots of laughs.
We practiced Polish cursewords, I sang a snippet of a Pogues song, and the owners of the yarn shop supply treats! I skipped the apple strudel and the fruit bread... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 14:47:03 EST Weigh In Well, whaddaya know...I'm down another pound! The mattress must've eaten it because I weighed myself yesterday and I was a pound heavier! Tue, 22 Jan 2013 11:43:19 EST Back From the Doctor's Office 24 I have a bladder infection. I wasn't quite sure when it first started on Friday. If you're drinking as much water as I am, it's kind of hard to tell if that pesky urgent urge to urinate is because you're being a good Sparker or if bacteria is wreaking havoc on your innards. Just to be on the safe side, I asked for a second opinion from Doogie. He concurs with my diagnosis, so I'll be gulping down pills and praying I don't get a yeast infection for the next few days.

... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 14:53:57 EST Next Time, I'll Bring the Camera One of my small pleasures is spotting interesting things on my walks. Today, I stopped for a rest after walking for 20 minutes. I'd walked by these three boulders dozens of times, but always on the side facing the street. This time, I was on the grassier side and I was surprised to find this etched on one of the rocks:

"Next time,
By hook or by crook,
Be sure to be born
With a mountain in
Your front yard."

And, when I lifted my head, I saw Pikes ... Fri, 18 Jan 2013 18:00:15 EST WooHoo! Kale! I'm gonna have to face it, I'm addicted to kale! I've always loved greens. Even when I was a little kid, I can remember asking for more cooked cabbage, or spinach, or poke sallet. Bring it on! Unfortunately, when I was young, we just didn't have any raw greens except iceberg lettuce and that shouldn't even count.

I can remember having cooked kale, but I had no idea people ate it raw until I joined SP. When I went to the grocery store for kale for my birds, all they could round up ... Thu, 17 Jan 2013 18:16:44 EST Great Walk! DH and I had a lovely walk to the library this morning! It's been absolutely frigid around here lately, so having the temperature up to forty degrees today feels fabulous! Already, I can feel the difference from pre-Spark walks. Last time I went to the library with Rod, I was really puffing to keep up. This time, it wasn't a problem. Best of all--there is a new yarn shop between here and there and they have a Wednesday morning st*tch and b*tch group. This gives me another good reason to tak... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 13:07:59 EST January 15 Weigh In #2 What a pleasure to see the numbers going down on the scale instead of up! I've lost 1.8 lbs this week. Not a huge amount, but each little bit makes me feel more comfortable in my skin! Tue, 15 Jan 2013 11:31:51 EST Just for a Change I don't know what possessed me. This is so unlike me. I did my cardio before breakfast this morning! The earth didn't crack and the laws of space & time seem to have survived. Got up and put on my grubbies, put the music in the music machine, and trotted and flailed around for a half hour. Got all nasty sweaty, woke my body up, and made my heart do a hot cha cha.

Let me tell you, it felt really good to go out in the sub-freezing air to feed and water the girls! I could learn to lo... Mon, 14 Jan 2013 12:34:57 EST Day of Rest Going a day without exercise is one of the hardest things for me when I'm trying to lose weight. It shouldn't be: I know my body's craving a rest and I know (intellectually, at least) that I've got six more days in the week to get in my cardio, but I feel like I don't dare to take the risk of sinking into sloth. I think I'm just going to have to force myself.

Sun, 13 Jan 2013 11:59:34 EST Everest Nepal Tonight's the big night! This is the first time dining out since I rejoined Spark on the first, and I'm a little nervous. We're heading to Everest Nepal (our favorite local Indian restaurant) to celebrate our daughter's engagement!

Indian food is a big temptation to fall off the wagon--I love the stuff--but if I really keep portion control in mind, they might not have to roll me out of the restaurant! I'm pretty sure I'll have biryani, but can I resist dumping lots of sauce on it? ... Sat, 12 Jan 2013 10:56:11 EST Just a FEW of the Reasons I Came Back to Spark I joined SP after a visit home to see my mother and other relatives. I'd seen her go from an active, healthy state to where she became obese, was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure. Then she had a stroke.

After a couple of years here, where I made a 50 lb goal, could ride my bike for 10 miles (and love it), and I fit into the clothes I really like, I just got burned out. I'd thought I would just take a couple months off, but it turned into a... Thu, 10 Jan 2013 14:38:08 EST Working up a Sweat I absolutely hate being sweaty. One of the perks of my break from SP was that I wasn't getting any serious exercise and I could stay nice and fresh and dry all day. I guess that's over! Since I'm overweight, anything I do is like what a healthy person does except it's like having a 50 lb backpack on me. The upside is that I burn calories more quickly. The downside is that almost anything makes me sweaty.

I HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT! Wed, 9 Jan 2013 13:36:24 EST First Weigh In I knew it was going to be good--lots of water weight here when I don't keep myself hydrated--but I never guessed...

7.8 pounds down!

And since you're wondering: I weigh on the same day each week, first thing in the morning, stark naked. 334 Tue, 8 Jan 2013 09:55:28 EST No-Slack Housework I've been blessed or cursed--DH says blursed--with a big old Victorian house with lots of woodwork. Now, I've always thought it was kind of funny to enter "housework" on the fitness tracker since even if I weren't Sparking this would be part of my daily routine, but some forms of housework just beg to be entered because I know I'm working my muscles pretty hard.

Today, I did a big cleaning of my entryway's woodwork. There's lots of it; those Victorians were into that sort of thing.... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 14:05:33 EST Insomnia I'm not sure what brought it on, but last night was just awful! I was so very tired, but when I went to bed I just absolutely could not go to sleep. Just before midnight, I gave up trying and got up to work on the socks I'm knitting. I finished the first sock and got the second one started and then dragged myself to bed.

Still, no sleep till four this morning, and I got up at 8:30. This was going to be my day of rest, but I really needed to go to the grocery store. Now, there's a... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 19:07:05 EST Book Trek I decided that I really wasn't that into Neil Young's "Waging Heavy Peace," so I dropped that off at the library this morning when I went to pick up Sanora Babb's "Whose Names Are Unknown."

From the back cover: "Sanora Babb's long-hidden novel, "Whose Names Are Unknown," tells of the High Plains farmers who fled drought and dust storms during the Great Depression. Written with empathy for the farmers' plight, this powerful narrative is based upon the author's firsthand experience.... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 14:58:35 EST Back to Making My Heart Work My ambition is to have ambition. So many of my favorite activities just involve moving my hands, eyes, and mouth that I have to make a concerted effort to get in some cardio every day.

Today's effort really was an effort. DH and I used to take walks together a LOT. I'd say it was a good year since the last time I walked anywhere that took over 30 minutes...round trip. This morning, we walked to the credit union and back (55 minutes) and I panted and sweated the whole way...but I ... Fri, 4 Jan 2013 13:29:22 EST Uh Oh, She's Laughing... This is only my third day back, but I'm finding I feel so much happier! Maybe it's having a goal and working towards it, maybe it's not stuffing myself till my gerd screams, or maybe it's just getting up and moving to music I love. Whatever! I'll take it! Thu, 3 Jan 2013 11:02:29 EST Oh yeah, water. And lo, a miracle occurred. Before nine a.m., on her second day of Sparking, Siriradha did manage to consume 4--count 'em, FOUR--cups of water.

If you need me for anything, I'll be that blur you see streaking upstairs towards the bathroom! Wed, 2 Jan 2013 11:19:59 EST To Everything There is a Season I figure if the Mayans can set up new cycles, so can I! Today is Day 1 of Return to Sparkage.
I've been here before, made my goal of losing 50 pounds and then slouched into Back to Plus Size. Can't say I didn't enjoy the ride, but my health is really suffering.

This summer, I had 3 visits to the ER with outrageous BP issues. This year, my pants size ballooned to size 18 (and that's tight around the middle).

I'm going to try to remedy that! Tue, 1 Jan 2013 17:21:32 EST
