As I shed my pounds, I shed the mental and emotional abuse that led me down the path of emotional eating. Every workout, every time I ate salad rather than mac and cheese, or a sandwich rather than a bag of Oreos, I was making a conscience cho... Wed, 20 Mar 2013 17:31:30 EST Wedding Fashion Show! The groom can't see the bride before the wedding, but you guys can! My friend Lacy took lots of pics of me on the day we went dress shopping. Also with me was my mom, my future mother and sister-in-law, and another girlfriend, Nikki. People were surprised I found my dress the first time out, but I had spent months going through images of dresses on various sites. I went in with very specific ideas about what I wanted (mermaid or trumpet style, prefer halter or straps to strapless) and wha... Wed, 6 Feb 2013 16:48:34 EST Meta-blogging This is a blog about my other blog - I posted the story of my engagement, I thought some of you might be interested in the details.

rry-no-blogs-but-good-news-and.html

Fri, 26 Oct 2012 10:26:47 EST My sweetie and I got engaged on Saturday!! And I wanted to share my happiness with all my Sparkfriends. For my New Who team, my fiance proposed dressed as Captain Jack Harkness, while I was in my Oswin Oswald costume. It's like we're making our own alternate timeline for the series ;-)

I am so happy and thrilled. No date set yet, but I will get more serious now about my goal to "... Mon, 22 Oct 2012 16:21:00 EST Signed up for Virtual Halloween 5K And I went to the gym this morning, before work, for the first time since my scheduled switched back to 9 AM - 6 PM. Go me! Starting next week I'm going to start working the 5K Your Way Running Program to be ready for the end of October.

In other news, I've started blogging again about non-Spark things. My new blog is called The Daily Rite, it's on blogger. The Daily Rite is a play off my previous blog that ended in 2010 called the Daily Rede. I'm trying to write daily, and I'm ... Wed, 5 Sep 2012 21:48:48 EST My boyfriend is pimping Sparkpeople Anytime someone compliments me or anytime weight loss comes up and some asks me how I lost my weight, my boyfriend immediately pipes up and says "!" This weekend he gave the info out to one of our mutual friends, and also to the woman at Kay Jeweler's we were discussing engagement rings with. I love that he appreciates how important Sparkpeople is to me and how life-changing it's been.

It's been a while since I updated. I've been worn out these past two weeks. I... Tue, 28 Aug 2012 18:03:25 EST I’m not giving up, I’m reassessing. I have been stuck at 138-139 for about a month now. I’ve been going to the gym 4-5 times a week, I’ve doing my best to eat well (although there have been non-tracked days, like the family reunion). At this point, I am happy with how I look, and I don’t want to feel frustrated because of a number. Is 135 pounds that much healthier than 139 pounds? I am at a healthy BMI, but when I get on the scale and it hasn’t moved, I have this moment where I feel like I’m still at 167. It stops me from ... Thu, 2 Aug 2012 12:38:56 EST Honestly, who does that!? Quick blog/rant:

I think I may have hurt a co-worker/friend's feelings because I said her lunch smelled horrible. Someone had cooked Dominican food for her, something with fish and rice and spcies. Which probably tasted delicious fresh (I love seafood!) but smelled like old garbage with fish and shoes in it when reheated.

I have purposely avoided bringing garlicky or fishy things to work for lunch, because I know it will stink up the entire office when you reheat it. ... Wed, 1 Aug 2012 13:23:36 EST Sparkpeople is stronger than the voice in my head! I woke up a little stiff this morning. My back and legs were definitely feeling my two workouts from yesterday, ARC Trainer and weights in the morning, and then Zumba after work. One little voice piped up that I had worked very hard yesterday and my body needed to rest. It tried very hard to make a case for itself. I could relax and get some things done around the house before work, it said. I didn’t need to go to the gym this morning, it said. But then I remembered reading some of my f... Thu, 26 Jul 2012 15:24:59 EST New workout clothes!

I went out on my lunch and bought some new workout clothes yesterday. I was in need of additional *ahem* supportive undergarments (When you go to the gym 5 times a week, and only own 2 sports bras, that means I have to do laundry more than I want!) I couldn't resist another moisture-wicking top and some fancy new running shorts.
... Fri, 20 Jul 2012 09:37:14 EST A legit fitness/nutrition update

Look, it's a blog!

So for once this is actually an update about how I've been doing with exercise and eating, and with my Sparking. I'm a little frustrated that I'm stuck at 139-140. But I also know I've been indulging more than occasionally on the weekends and on hot summer evenings with ice cream. I should be happy that my exercise makes me able to maintain. I've also been doing regular strength training, so there may be some muscle weight going on as well. ... Fri, 13 Jul 2012 11:01:31 EST I have always depended upon the kindness of strangers
So tonight I took advantage of getting out of work at 5 PM today to hit my first Gold's Gym Group Exercise class – Body Blast. I was pretty nervous as more and more people started gathering in the lounge area outside the room. What if I couldn't do it? What if I grossed people out by how sweaty I got? What if I made a total @$$ of myself? I mentioned to a woman sitting near me that I had recently joined and this was my first class. She told me I would like the instructor, Dianne, ... It's the music I grew up with, it's what my Dad and favorite Aunt play at family gatherings, it's part of who I am. Country music is generally not associated healthy living. At home it's associated with floatin' down the river on a tube, ridin... Thu, 28 Jun 2012 15:38:57 EST Fit is the new Sexy!
Today feels like I am riding the crest of a wave...Of motivation! All of your support on my no-donut blog has me pumped up to lose the last 6 pounds. I haven't weighed 135 since my freshman year of college. Maybe sophomore year. It's been a long time, at any rate. I was trying to remember the other day when I wore size 6 jeans last, and I thought it might have been high school. I remember one pair that I really liked that I hung onto for years, but could never get back into. I know... Wed, 13 Jun 2012 18:27:18 EST I will not eat a donut, I will not eat a donut...
I came into work early this morning to attend a presentation from one of our vendors. (I work for a promotional products company) Of course they brought two dozen Dunkin Donuts with them. Because people who sit on their butts all day answering the phone really need additional sugar and calories! . 28

I have stayed away from them so far, I feel proud of myself. I packed a healthy lunch today and I ate some yogurt as a snack rather than going to the donuts. Another... Tue, 12 Jun 2012 11:18:51 EST I done a bad, bad thing. Sparkfriends, I have a confession to make. I slipped into old habits last night, HARD. I had an entire box of macaroni and cheese to myself - with an added handful of shredded cheese while I was making it. I haven’t even logged it yet because I know it’s going to be UGLY.

I got home from work and my boyfriend had already eaten dinner before going out for a ride on his motorcycle. I had worked through my lunch and only had a trail mix bar. I was feeling yucky and hungry but n... Fri, 1 Jun 2012 10:45:44 EST In which I give myself a new challenge (Sorry to borrow your title style, Lena!)

So now that I'm done with the 5K Your Way Rookie Running Challenge, I need new a plan to keep me motivated to workout regularly. I am planning to pick another 5K in my area to do, most likely in the Fall. But until I pick one and have a date in mind, I'm going to do the Coach Nicole 28 Day Boot Camp DVD according to the 28 day plan. Last night I did the Cardio Blast. Tonight is Cardio-Sculpt.

I am hoping that getting so... Tue, 15 May 2012 18:09:11 EST My First 5K
I had no idea how emotional running in Randi's Race would be for me this past Saturday. I knew the race was to benefit Domestic Violence Services of two neighboring counties. I knew the race was in memory of a young woman who was killed by her husband in 2003. I knew it was the young woman's mother who organized the race and was the driving force behind it. When I originally decided to run this 5K, it was to support my boyfriend, who has donated and ran in the race every year since ... Mon, 14 May 2012 19:43:15 EST Brag Blog Brag Blog

So I just needed to share, and brag a little bit. Last night my boyfriend Tim and I did our last practice run for the 5K we are running tomorrow. I wasn't feeling great through most of it, but managed to get a respectable time. I was really not feeling great when I got home, sweaty and nauseous. I have a fridge full of SparkPeople Cookbook leftovers right now, but neither Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Mustard Dill Sauce or Slow Cooker Rosemary Chicken (with some spaghet... Fri, 11 May 2012 12:58:05 EST My Weight Loss Journey
I separated from my emotionally and mentally abusive ex-husband almost 3 years ago. I had always worked out on and off, usually for a month or so at a time, and would stop when he started complaining about how my working out was inconveniencing him in some way. I would also sneak food when I was with him, as he tried to control every aspect of my life. I'd walk to the store to pick up food for dinner, and also buy a Snickers bar and scarf it down before I got back to the apartment, ho... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 14:01:22 EST Brand New Key! Until then, happy S... Sat, 28 Apr 2012 14:13:18 EST A Song for my Spark Friends! I love to sing, and this song is one of my favorites.
