SHIRLRN's SparkPeople Blog SHIRLRN's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Back again and again. Here I am again, still at almost 330#. We started a TOPS Chapter at my apartment building in April and I promptly gained 4#. I do love this site and enjoy using it, but don't take the time. Today I decided to eat only at the table with the TV off. This is very difficult for me as I really enjoy eating in front of the TV. I figure if I take that pleasure out of eating and just concentrate on the food I hope to eat less. I am going to do this for one month to make it a habit. I am also g... Wed, 19 Jun 2013 23:22:06 EST BACK AGAIN I am always surprised when I come back to this site and all my information is still here. I haven't written a blog since July of 2008, though I have used other tools since then. I think this is a wonderful place to be, but I still struggle with my eating habits. Bought the cookbook and think it is great. I will be 72 years old next month and am still in the 325# range. For the first time in years I am dealing with less pain. In January I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and starte... Wed, 20 Jun 2012 09:57:24 EST Welcome Lisa B. Just wanted to welcome you if you find this page. I'm hanging in there and always feel inspired when I visit you. I will do better tomorrow than I did today. Thanks for all your help.

229 41 304 Fri, 25 Jul 2008 00:26:48 EST SMALL GOALS 1. I will avoid store bought muffins as they are much too big.
2. I will make large batches and freeze or store in portion sizes.
3. I will limit buying canned soups and vegetables. Even the 50% less
sodium varieties have too much salt.
4. I will try at least one new recipe each week.
5. I will try to buy fresh chicken breasts as the frozen kind have added
sodium.
6. I will bring my own sweets to Cookie's and avoid what is served there. ... Wed, 17 Oct 2007 13:59:45 EST SURPRISE, 15# I can't believe it. Yesterday I posted my weight and was down 1.8#. This morning I found my feet were not swollen as they have been for a long time, so I hopped on the scale and had lost 4 more pounds. Today wasn't a great day, but my feet still look good. Tomorrow will be better. Sun, 7 Oct 2007 21:52:49 EST Making Good Choices Now. No Regrets "Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made." This quote from Dr. Wayne Dyer makes me feel many regrets. There are so many things I could have done differently. But, I am not going to grieve for what may have been. I have now and I can make better choices for today. The good decisions I make will help me feel better today and that is what counts. Sat, 6 Oct 2007 08:17:09 EST LEADING A PASSIVE LIFE What I just read really hit home. "The story of your life will be written with or without your help. The next chapter is happening now. Will you wait to see what it says latter or will you help write it?" I have drifted through life, accepting whatever came to me instead of making changes that could have benefited me. I thought being passive was less stressful, but I have made many decisions that caused great stress in my life. Not taking care of my health was one of them. Oh, I did do... Tue, 2 Oct 2007 16:35:01 EST Tracking Today was the first time I tracked what I ate and I had an easier time sticking to my plan for today. I also was very close to my nutritional goals. I am proud of myself. Now is the time when I usually want to eat extra, but I just had a snack and am quite satisfied. Getting on my computer and finishing up my days total also helps. I don't want to ruin a good day. Wed, 26 Sep 2007 23:17:11 EST LONG TERM GOAL I have much more weight to lose than 50 pounds, but want to set smaller goals as it is too overwhelming to think of the entire amount. When I reach my first goal, by January 31, 2008, I will continue on from there. Thu, 20 Sep 2007 21:50:37 EST
